ICloud displaying deleted iCal events

I set up my iCloud/iCal sync when I updated to iOS5, but my iCloud calendar (and thus my iPhone calendar) is now displaying events I have deleted from iCal on my MacBook Pro. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

I'm getting the same thing. Events that have been deleted from iCal on my G5 are still sent to my iPhone. I've reset the iPhone software, restarted, logged out and in, deleted the iSync history etc - no luck.
Also, events created on my iPhone don't transfer to iCal on my G5.
Obviously this renders the iPhone/iCal combination unreliable as a diary/calendar. What makes this particularly frustrating is that I'm using absolutely standard gear and software. Nothing fancy, no trying to sync to third party equipment or applications. I'm using Leopard 10.5.2, with Apples very own iCal 3.0.2 (1236) and an Apple iPhone with software version 1.1.4 (4A102). So all software up-to-date.
Does anyone have this standard up-to-date setup working?

  • Why have deleted iCal events suddenly reappeared in my calender?

Assistance needed please for an iCal issue on Snow Leopard (iMac).
A bunch of formerly deleted iCal events have suddenly reappeared in iCal. I thought this would be easily resolved by using Time Machine (external HD) to restore the calendar files to when they were workings ok (a couple of days ago). Although this initially appeared to work, all the previously deleted events have suddenly reappeared.
If I was using iCloud I'd assume it was some kind of syncing issue, but I'm not. Least I can rule that out.

  • How can I restore deleted iCal events without removing current events?

I have just discovered that iCal on my Laptop has been deleting events older than 30 days (as per the default), even though it's supposed to be syncing via MobileMe with my iMac which has this disabled.
I have made backups and exports from iCal in the past. The former, iCal backup files, will apparently overwrite the whole calendar and restore it back to that point in time, which is surely rather useless? If there's a way to use one of these files without deleting new events, then please let me know.
I did import a previous export taken in August 2007, but that still leaves a large gap.
I have also been backing my iMac up in TimeMachine for the past year - is there a way to restore my Calendar this way without reverting new events?

    Hi crcamp1,
If you have multiple backups, your previous backup may still be available.  Details are found in this article.
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
    Where your backups are stored
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK.
Restoring is further discussed at the bottom of this article.

  • TS4337 How can I recover all my deleted iCal events?

My children were playing around on the computer, and for some reason, all my iCal events were deleted. I doubt that they purposefully went through all my events and deleted each one. I checked icloud with no luck, it's still an empty calendar. It's the same way on my phone as well.
How do I get all my events back?!

    - On your syncing computer go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if you do have a backup, if so restore from that backup. When you sync to iTunes the first step is making a backup
    - If you use PhotoStream you may be able to get them fromn yuor steam. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Note that the backup and PhotoStream only included photos in your iPod's Camera Roll  (or Saved Photos) album. Photos synced to the iPod are not included.

  • How to automatically delete iCal events

I've finally gotten to a "technical place" where I have an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone for my wife and I.  Life is good!!
I've made the switch to iCloud and now manage my calendar on all devices, but I can't seem to find how to set up my calendar to automatically delete old events.
I would assume that events that were created as the "start" of a repeating event should not be deleted, but those events that I create as non-repeating have little or no value to remain.
Is there a way to have iCal automatically delete events in the past?
    Jim P.

    Jim,
Log into iCloud.com, open the Web App Calendar, click on the Prefereces cog, and make the appropriate selections in "Advanced."

  • ISync Deleting iCal events

Ok, so I'm reliant on both my phones calendar and iCal. Depending on where I am, i might enter a new event into either one. I've just noticed however that when I use iSync, the "sync alert" is telling me that syncing will add 13, modify 20, and delete 8 events. There seems to be no way of knowing what those events are or why they are being deleted. If they are simply not on my phone but are on iCal, i'd want them added to my phone instead of deleted from iCal, or at least review them... How do I know that some very important event wont be deleted? Thanks in advance.

There could be a number of reasons for this, but as you haven't mentioned which phone you're using, it's difficult to advise further, as different phones work differently with iSync.
Firstly though, have you tried clicking "Reset Sync History..." in iSync preferences (after backing up your contacts and calendars). That will reset the syncing in case iSync has lost track of which is current information.

  • ICloud, iOS Devices & iCal events on my Mac

I have the following problem. When I create a new event on my Mac in the Calendar.app it appears on my iOS devices (iPad and iPhone) with reminder: Today at 0:00. But I haven't turned any reminders when I create this event on my Mac.

It's disappointing and selfish of Apple to force users into keeping iCloud by deleting all the saved data off the computer permanently, when signing out of iCloud. It's basically blackmail; keep iCloud or all your **** gets deleted. There isn't even an option to save it back onto the computer!!! Absolutely PATHETIC.
This is the kind of **** that used to set Apple apart from the others; things that made sense and a sense of care.
Well Apple you've blown it; thousands of people (perhaps even millions?) have lost their data because they have decided to stop using iCloud. I thought iCloud looked cool, but now I see that there is a VERY big catch.
Please, put an option there to copy data back to the computer; if you can copy all the data onto iCloud, then ethically you should have the ability to copy all the data back onto the computer. Please, have a sense of ethics and give users this option!!!
    This option was never removed.
Open Address book then File > Export.
    Turn off iCloud.
    File > Import.

  • Deleting iCal events

I have a number of repeated (weekly, monthly etc) events in iCal. Once the event is passed I usually delete the event for that day, and it disappears from the listed events for the current day, reappearing at the required repeat date later.
However, recently some events do not delete when I attempt to delete them - they remain in the list for the day. Sometimes they are then replicated in future weeks/months - i.e. I get double or triple entries. I've tried deleting all future events, rather than just the current one, to no effect - the event remains. I've tried removing the repeat details - that takes it from the current day (most of the time) but leaves it in future weeks.
Other repeated events behave normally, so I am at a loss as to what to think! Anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

I have a similar problem. I go in ~/Library/Calendars/XXXX.calendars/Events and delete the ics file and they just come back like magic after a few seconds! I have 3-4 time the same event now. How do you stop it? Where is the backup so I can delete it as well?
I also tried to delete the Cache file and it didn't change anything, help!

  • I can't delete iCal event from iPhone

My iCal seems to sync just fine on my laptop, iCloud and my iPhone, EXCEPT for a couple events that I cant delete off of my phone.
They were originally setup as recurring events - to remind me every week about a voice conference I was to have with a client. That weekly meeting is no longer necessary so I deleted it (and chose All future events as well). I made sure it was gone from iCal on my laptop, and on iCloud.
However it is still on my iPhone and gives me an alert about the meeting every Monday.
On the phone, I see no way to actually delete events. When I touch it there is no EDIT button or anything like that.
I must be missing something obvious. Any help would be appreciated.
    my iPhone has iOS 7.04
    My laptop has 10.9.1
    iCal is version 7.0

    Go in your iTunes,
    Select sync photes from (whereever)
    When the folder boxes appears,
    *DO NOT SELECT ANY BOXES
    *THEN PRESS SYNC
*ALL OF THE UNWANTED PHOTOS WILL BE REMOVED
*THAT WILL NOT AFFECT THE PHOTES YOU HAVE TAKING PREVIOUSLY, JUST THE ONES THAT WAS ADDED FROM YOUR DESK TOP, LAPTOP, ETC.

  • Restore specific deleted iCal events from time machine

    Hi,
I had put some events into iCal on my iPhone in early August.  My Calendar syncs with an exchange server.  The events were at first in all the calendars that were attached to the exchange account.  Now some of these events are gone or updates to the events are gone.  I was wondering if I could only restore these missing events from the time machine?  I have an iMac 27" from 2012 with a time machine attached to it.
    Thanks

Sorry but albums can not be restored - and you can not select them in the show package contents display - albums are simply entries in the iPhoto database and have no physical presence
Additionally showing package contents and entering the iPhoto library is extremely dangerous and a tiny user error can destroy the library and cause dataloss  --  it is strongly recommended to never go into the inside of the iPhoto library and there never is a reason t do so
What you are doing is restoring the originals from an event losing any modifications and any metadata editing
And you are breaking a cardinal rule by making changes to the content of the iPhoto library using something other than iPhoto which will not work - photos muct be imported into iPhoto, not saved into its database
But the biggest problem with the OP's plan is that Time Machine is NOT an archival system but a backup system and eventually it will remove the oldest files so sooner or later the OP would lose their photos that had not been restored

Agreed to a large extent, but I don't have anything in the Modified folder to try.
My albums appear in originals as folders. But as you say, they are the raw imports.
As to the wisdom of the procedure; it worked, and I was slightly surprised it did from within a package, but i accept your overall premise.

  • Deleted iCal events still showing- does iCal 3 help?

I have an iCal in Tiger (iCal 2.0.3) that I publish to co-workers. They subscribe in iCal and it mostly works fine (published through mobile me). Sometimes when I delete and item that is part of a recurring event, it continues to show in the published (subscribed) versions. The only way to fix it, is for my co-workers to delete and re-subscribe to the calendar.
Recently I also began publishing the calendar as a Google Calendar (subscribe to it in Google Calendar and then publish to the world) for some of my co-workers that prefer Google Calendars. Same problem only worse. Deleted events (some not all) continue to show up in the Google Calendar version that are no longer in teh iCal version, even after re-subscribing.
Someone (Ben Kazez of iCal widget fame) suggested that this is a problem with the way iCal 2.0.3 stores events in the calendar and that iCal 3(leopard) fixes this. (he had this problem with his widget).
Can anyone confirm that iCal 3 fixes the problem of deleted events showing in published calendars? I want to be sure this will fix my problem before I go through the hassle of the upgrade.

I'm getting the same thing. Events that have been deleted from iCal on my G5 are still sent to my iPhone. I've reset the iPhone software, restarted, logged out and in, deleted the iSync history etc - no luck.

So all software up-to-date.
Does anyone have this standard up-to-date setup working?

  • Deleted iCal events?

    Good Evening,
I am interested in what happens to a calendar event in iCal after I delete it. I have been unable to locate a trash area for the deleted events.
    Thank you

Far as I know, a deleted event's electronics are recycled rather than put into a landfill.

  • Why do I get deleted iCal events synced to my iPod Touch?

    Hi,
Recently I had to deal with a quite a complicated schedule of events, some that repeated every second day at night, others every third day in the morning, etc. I made errors, deleted them, started over. When I synced, all my errors showed up on my iPod, even when I clicked ‘replace all information from this computer on next sync.’
    Can someone help?

    Hi Frederick,
    1. I assume you all know that this is a user forum, not an Apple support group.
Oh yes, do I ever know that this is not an Apple support group..., but probably not in the sense that you meant it. What about the disastrous firmware for Airport Extreme 4.xx, which dropped connections right left and center, with literally hundreds of forum visitors to get help and advice, and completely ignored by Apple? What about the erratic cursor jumping in system 10.2 to 10.4, where one started to type and suddenly the cursor jumped to a completely different spot in the document and continued there, also reported by dozens of people completely ignored by Apple? Would you like me to continue?
    2. Try resetting iSync. Open iSync, go to Preferences, and under Advanced, click on Reset Sync History. (If it is greyed out, wait a bit.)
I don’t and cannot use iSync, since my iPod touch is not a bluetooth device. I use iTunes and the option of resetting the sync history is not present in iTunes. If it is, can you direct me where in the preferences this is available?
    Thank you for your help,
    Klaus

  • Syncing deletes iCal events added on iPod Touch

Has anyone noticed that events added on the iPod Touch are deleted upon syncing on iTunes? I'm restoring the touch right now to see if that solves the problem...

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not have that option checked so that shouldn't be causing problems. I did the restore but it did not help. However, I now noticed that under the "info" tab, where I check sync with the various calendars on my computer there is a line that says "put new events created on this ipod into the calendar" and then a list of calendars. Interestingly, each calendar appears twice on that list. Any ideas on how I could reset that list?

  • Ical Help needed- can not delete a four year ical event

I accidentally sent an ical event that lasts for four years and now I he cant delete it and it is taking up more and more memory on his phone as it is repeating infinitly every day?? Have tried restore but it still syncs with icloud. is there an easy solution?

First you have to know which calendar your client saved the event to. Usually by default it saves to the native Calendar app. If that is the case, he should be able to log into iCloud and delete the event (decline the invitation) from there. If your client saved the event to an external calendar that he has synched to his iPhone (Yahoo, Google, etc.) he may be able to delete it or decline it from there, which should in turn remove it from the device.
The logic here is that only the creator of the event invitation can edit the event details, so that if they do that, all of the recipients of the invitation will get the updated information automatically. I agree it leaves a lot to be desired to stick things on people's calendars that they can't at the very least just simply delete if not edit. I will no longer accept invitations directly on my device in order to avoid this. I will add the event to my calendar manually from now on.
