ICloud does not support pop accounts? Any workarounds?

Hmm, just when I thought I was ready to bite the bullet and migrate from mobileme to iCloud another limiting factor arises. As well as not syncing keychains or mail accounts (which I can just about live with) I read on the apple support pages that I won't be able to check my legacy hotmail accounts.

After moving to iCloud, the following webmail features will no longer work:
Checking external POP email accounts.
Again, not a major issue because I don't use my hotmail accounts that much, but blimey, Apple are really pushing users through hoops to get everything working! It's like I'm reliving the move from .mac to mobileme back in 2008!!!!
Is there a workaround which will enable me to access my hotmail accounts through my OS X mail client if I move over to iCloud?

It seems to me that iCloud is still checking and downloading the mails from a POP account I set up under MobileMe. I can't see, edit or send mails through it though. And of course there isn't a garanty for it. Can be a "male function" as well.

The Late 2009 model 6,1 has a Mini DisplayPort not the Mini-DVI. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When the System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.

Outgoing Server does not recognise POP account

I've just set up 2 POP mail accounts on mac mail, I also have a .mac mail account.
I can receive messages from the POP mail accounts but I can't send emails using POP mail accounts. I'm getting this message when I try -
The sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server
The server response was: 5.1.0 <[email protected]>... From address does not match authentication.
I can still send mail from my .mac account, that works perfectly ok.
can anybody offer any suggestions please

Sounds like the outgoing mail server for these POP accounts is authenticated.
Are these POP accounts provided by your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet or other?
If the SMTP server is authenticated, what are the provided/required settings for this SMTP server?
If these POP accounts are not provided by your ISP, are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP with Mail and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?

When I delete an E-mail the next one does not automatically pop up any more

ICloud does not locate my macbook, any ideas?

i have registered both my iphone and macbook and they both show in the "find my iphone" and it will located my iphone, but says unable to locate my macbook.

Fine, but if wifi is off or not connected, then it won't work. That's always one thing to check.
Another issue is when routers are not registered with their location. Home routers occassionally have this problem (usually the ISP doesn't provide the "web" (where locations are stored in a database) with the data). One test is to try locating your device when connected to a public wifi service (a coffee shop, etc.).

I just bought a 15" macbook pro and when I try to upload final cut pro it tells me that the power pc does not support the application any longer.. is there a solution to this problem, other to buy the program again?

There is no longer a caution symbol next to his inbox but the sent is "atwirl" - suggestions?

iCloud does not support POP access, what exactly have you done, step by step please.

ICloud does not accept 120MB of pages file to be uploaded using my MAC

I wrote a book with sone pictures having a size of 120MB. When I tried to upload it to icloud after a certain time icloud stops the uploading process.
I tested small size pages document . Uploadig process worked fine. I have 1.6GB free space however when I tried to upload 120MB file icloud does not
accept it . Any advice?

Why does Apple BREAK functionality whenever they 'upgrade' the OS?
BEFORE i upgraded to Mountain Lion, iChat video worked fine.
as you can see from the screen capture, the camera and audio are detected (and working), but Messages thinks my iMac does not support video chats.

If Messages is starting up at the same time sa the computer then start it separately.
It will "read" the speed it can see at this time and "write" it to the .plist involved.
At computer Start up the Computer is busy making connections itself and uses a large amount of your Bandwidth distorting what iChat or Messages can "See"
Do a Speed test and compare this to what you think you should be getting.
AS you say it can pay to try a router reboot if the speed looks a little low.

Just to add this : iWeb -- the app itself -- is still supported,updated only months ago and as part of the ilife '11 DVDs still widely spread even though it is not sold on the AppStore it is official part of iLife. It runs in Lion and there is zero issues with the app. So a training makes sense, doesn't it ?.

I changed my AppleID/Password and now am locked out of iCloud. iCloud says maximum number of free accounts have been activated. tried Settings, Mail etc but iCloud does not appear. I was going to delete it and start again.

Had to change Apple ID/Password recently now cannot access iCloud. In settings when tapping iC, log in screen appears with old ID and request for (old) password.
In Settings Mail, Contacts etc iCloud does not appear. I was going to delete account.
Trying new ID/Password message appears "maximum no. of free accounts have been activated".
Using old ID/Password message apperas "you can,t sign in because account was disabled for security reasons ......reset password at iforgot.apple.com which i did.

I tried to log in to iCloud but a message appears telling me I "can't sign in because my account was disabled for security reasons....reset password at iforgot.apple.com". I don't know why this happened.
I reset both my Apple ID and password.
When I tap Settings iCloud is listed on the left side between General and Mail, Contacts etc.
Tapping iCloud brings up a log in screen for iCloud which shows my old Apple ID and requests the password. If I put the password in I get the message as above.
If I use the new Apple ID/Password I get the message "the maximum number of free accounts have been activated....
In settings there is no option to "Delete Account"
Any suggestions??

That toolbar/ct plugin seems to cause problems for all who install it!
Close Safari, then locate and delete the following files and it should be gone:
/Library/Application Support/Conduit
/Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
/Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
/Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
/Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
where / is the root library on your Hard Disk.
If you are running Snow Leopard you should also look here:
