ICloud doesn't recognize my apple ID

I'm trying to set up icloud on my iMac. 10.7.2 installed, go to system preferences, click iCloud, enter my username and password, a message pops down saying 'You can't sign in at this time' 'Try signing in again' and at the bottom it says in red 'Unrecognized Apple ID or password'. Thing is both of these are correct, I can log in through iTunes and manage my ac, log in through my iPad etc no problem. I have tried running Disk Utility repair preferences and restarting but still the same. iCloud won't recognized my account ... ?

I had the same promblem using my ipad2, I thought i was going crazy, then I noticed once when I put my user name in and checked it was right, one time it dropped the last letter as went to hit submit (i actually saw it erased!) so i went back put the deleted "m" back into "com", hit enter, put in my password multiple times, tripple checked, no joy. I guessed it could be dropping the last letter also of my P/W.
So I hit remote on my iphone4s did the same UN/PW and it worked first time! I had the same promblem with accessing YouTube - I know I was putting the right UN/PW i did it about 10 times in but it wouldn't let me in, then miraculously one time it did... could be a letter dropping bug..
I think remote on the ipad is just buggy, as I couldn't use it with ATV when I first upgraded both the remote App and ATV, yet every other app that streamed music, pictures or video including iTunes (upgraded) on my PC had no problem working or connecting with apple TV. So in the end I resorted to a ATV reset and then it worked, as I knew it wasn't a network problem. I only found this logging in error after.

  • ICloud doesn't recognize my Apple id password

I just changed my Apple id password because someone else was listed under my email. After doing that, my icloud accound doesn't recognize my apple id password.  FYI, when I went in to my account to change the password, I saw all the persons info, address, telephone etc. who was using my email account. How did that happen? All of my info was not there. So I took his out and replaced with my info. But then I couldn't get itunes or icloud to recognize my new password.

I had a very similar experience.  I made a purchase last month.  Everything was fine.  Then I try to login two days ago and I can't.  Nothing works.  Can't reset my password, and when I try I never get an email with the new one.
I email apple support and they tell me that my email address (and apple ID) has been changed to some weird address.  I  reply and tell them that I never did this and never got an email saying it had been changed.  They had me try to log in with the new email address (which I couldn't).  Eventually they reset my password (still with the new weird email address) and I could log in.  I then quickly changed the password and apple ID back to my email address.  However, the billing info was weird.  My street and city were correct, yet the State/ZIP and phone were all from New Mexico.  It doesn't look like any purchases were made.
I am starting to think that there were no accounts hijacked here, otherwise we would have received an email when the ID was changed (as I did when I changed mine back).  I think that something got corrupted in Apple's database.

  • I changed my Apple ID and now my iCloud doesn't recognize my new id. What can I do to fix the problem?

I changed my Apple ID and now my iCloud doesn't recognize my new id. Can anyone help me with my problem? Please break it down for me, I'm an old lady. Lol

To change the iCloud ID on your iPad you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID.
Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (open the my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward pointing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Then you are using the wrong user ID. Try to remember your ID.

  • HT204053 I  cannot get my laptop to recognize my new Ipod nano to download music to it.  Also ICloud will not recognize my apple ID.

Having a hard time getting Icloud to recognize my apple ID.  My laptop also does not recognize it either.

    1. The recent iPods will only work properly with iTunes 7.
    2. You cannot use iTunes 6 and iTunes 7 simultaneously with the same account on your machine, as the library format has changed. It may not be possible to use two different versions of iTunes on a single Windows XP installation.

I set up a new ID which is recognized by apple but not pb Icloud....It keeps the old one...how to correct this?

You have to sign out of the old one in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud and then sign back in with the new one.

  • Apple ID is not an email address so iCloud doesn't recognize it.

My current Apple ID is not an email address.  When I try to set up iCloud using my current ID, it automatically adds the "me.com" after it and that is not my actual ID.  What can I do to rectify this? Should I change my ID to an email?  I have a mobileme account, but I can't use that email address for some reason.  I've emailed apple a few times and they can't seem to be able to answer me.

Here's my situation, and what I have discovered:
My family shares one Apple ID for our iTunes purchases. We have two iPhones, two iPads and an iPod touch all running iOS 5 between us. The 'master' Apple ID, that we all use for iTunes, is my e-mail address. I created a separate Apple ID (their own e-mail addresses) for each individual in the family, which is used to connect to the iCloud for the purposes of syncing and backing up to the iCloud.
The only odd configuration I have found is that each device that I set up with a different Apple ID for the iCloud, also retains an iCloud mail account with the 'master' Apple ID. The e-mail address (the 'master' Apple ID) for this iCloud mail account (called 'iCloud') cannot be changed, although the account can be deleted (which I don't want to try because I don't know the consequences). The only thing I have enabled in this iCloud account is 'Find My iPhone/iPod' so all my family's devices can be seen in the Find My iPhone app using my 'master' Apple ID.
Using this setup we have been able to maintain our own Contacts and Calendars, all synced to iCloud using our individual Apple IDs.

  • (Windows 8.1) My iTunes takes a while to open, freezes and doesn't recognize any apple device plugged into it.  I've uninstalled iTunes and other software components in the order I was told but still end up with the same result. Why is that?

Why is iTunes for Windows 8 (8.1) taking so long to boot up, not recognizing an apple device and freezing after a proper uninstall and reinstall?

Hmm....I just had another thought.  All the machines are running Win7 SP1, BUT the 2 that can sync with MSE installed are 32bit versions, however the one that can't is 64bit.  Not sure if that makes any difference though.  All are clean installs with Win7SP1 media, not SP1 installed later.

  • My iPad 2 doesn't recognize my Apple ID

I'm not really sure what my issue is.  When I log into itunes with my desktop computer I use My Apple ID but when I log into my iPad 2 it shows me as having a differnt Apple ID.  How do I update my apple ID on my iPad 2 as it is not accurate?

To log into a different account for the stores on your iPad, tap on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap on 'sign out' on the popup, and you can then log in with a different account.
If any apps (or other content) were downloaded by the account that is currently logged in then they will remain tied to that account, so only that account can download updates to those apps (and potentially redownload them).

  • Keep getting prompts re: iCloud does not recognize my address. Any ideas?

Recently the system would not recognized my apple ID/password, so I simply clicked on "forgot" and reset it.  Weird, but it happened.  Now everything works fine, except I keep getting prompts from Contacts, Mail and iCloud informing me that iCloud doesn't recognize my ID (email) or it just can't connect.  Wonder what this is all about?  Everything works, but these prompts are driving me nuts!

Try going to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in.  See if that stops the prompts for your password.
(This deletes the account and iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud.  Your data will download back to your Mac when you sign back in.)

    HELP HELP

To confirm, your existing mail client isn't communicating with your existing and remote mail services at Dreamhost? Which mail client are you using (Apple mail?), and how is mail on the client set up?
It would initially seem that your client is still referencing the server, either for its inbound or outbound mail. (And I'm not sure how unplugging the server helps here, unless there's some sort of a configuration issue, or a duplicate network address or such.) This would usually be something within the configuration of the mail client.
The Mac OS X Server is significantly easier than the many other servers and server operating systems I've dealt with over the years, but it requires reading the manuals and/or some knowledge of networking and of server environments.
Small shops and home folks without the time or inclination to "spin up" on these server areas can be well-served with some help initially configuring the server. Servers are different from clients. Stuff that you're implicitly used to using when you're running a client -- the DHCP server, for instance -- are what the servers provide you with.
As for Mac OS X Server and particularly if you head outside of the default settings and sequences and off into the customizations, which is what has happened here, you might want to engage some assistance. Not just for the direct and obvious initial set-up sequence, but also for getting you set-up and started with backups and other such tasks. Before you get too deep in here and get too much underway and too much saved on your disks, do seriously consider getting somebody in to help set this box up for you.
Mac OS X Server is not "no IT", but it is rather closer to "less IT" than most. Particularly once you get it configured and running.
