ICloud Download

When I download a song from ICloud to my PC, is it saved on my hard drive? Where?

Addtionally, make sure that your machine meets the minimum system requirements:

Note: the 2 GB RAM is an absolute minimum; you'd be much happier with 4 GB.

  • How do I make iCloud downloads require a password on all my iDevices?

My apple ID has my iphone 4s, my ipad3 and three ipad mini's for my kids. I know I can use restrictions on each ipad mini for installing apps I've already bought, downloading music I've bought, but I'd much rather make ANY and EVERY download password protected on my appleID. As it is now they can simply click the iCloud/Download icon in the app store or in the music store and download whatever I've bought for myself. My 8, 10 and 10yro kids dont need to be able to simply click the iCloud/Download button for Grand Theft Auto 3, 99 problems from JayZ or anything else. Yes I watch what my kids have on their ipads and I monitor the time they use them and I have no concerns about their web surfing or YouTube watching, but I'd feel much better and would rather go thru typing my password every single time I make a download, either the first time I purchase it or again at a later time. Using iTunes for Windows I cant find any option for restricting my entire iTunes account with password protection for every download on any/every iDevice I own.
Cant I just put an account wide "require password" for EVERY download, even if I've already bought something on my ipad/iphone already? Or do I have to manually set this up on each ipad and create my own passcode lock for the Restrictions option? As I said, I dont mind doing this, I just think it would be easier to have an entire iTunes account restriction for downloading apps/music.

    Hi jtvt7,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Your post doesn't indicate what your other devices are, but one thing you can try is to delete the song from the device that is not working, and re-download it.
    The article below explains how:

  • Some songs are grayed out in Itunes with ICloud/Download symbol, why and how do I fix it?

A random variety of my songs are grayed out so they won't play and it shows the ICloud download symbol next to them.  In the top left hand corner, it shows the cloud symbol with horizontal lines moving, as if it's in the process of downloading, but it has been on all day and there is no movement to shift the grayed out songs to functioning songs as if they have been downloaded.
    Does anyone have any suggestions??
    Thanks!!

Delete the incomplete tracks from your library, sending them to recycle bin, then download them again from your purchased history. If the problem persists use the "report a problem" links from your account history to contact the iTunes store support staff.
Are the incomplete tracks ones that you had previewed before purchasing the album? If so there may be a bug that needs reporting. See this recent post which explains why I ask the question...

  • The side menu that had the iCloud "download all" button in it is gone and I can't get it back?

This is my first Mac. I have iTines 12. I signed in to iTunes and I was going to download each song that was in the cloud by individually clicking on it, but noticed in the side menu that there was an icloud button that could download all my stuff in the cloud at once. I went to click it and double click or something and the menu turned into it's own window. I didnt like it so I closed out both itunes iwndows, quit itunes and restarted it and the menu with the Icloud download all button has not returned. My brother swears I'm making it up, haha. Ive tried everything!

    Hey There daniellaaaaaa,
First of all, congratulations on your new Mac!  Like most people, one of the first things you want to do is to get all of your music from your old computer into the new one.
The article below explains how to do that.  My personal preference is the suggestion to back up your old iTunes library to an external drive first.  This is preferable to downloading only your iTunes Store purchases from iTunes in the Cloud.

  • HT4759 I have an iMac, iMac, 10,1 10.8. I would like to have iCloud downloaded to my computer.  Does my computer have the system requirement necessary. I use iCal on my Apple Notebook and Iphone 4S. Thank you!

I have an iMac, iMac, 10,1 10.8. I would like to have iCloud downloaded to my computer.  Does my computer have the system requirement necessary. I use iCal on my Apple Notebook and Iphone 4S and want it to my Mac Desktop to sinc with all my Apple Products. Thank you!

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • HT201272 I'm having trouble downloading a previously purchase song to my iCloud so I can access it from another device.  The iCloud download button is not there.  Help?

I'm having trouble downloading a previously purchase song to my iCloud so I can access it from another device.  The iCloud download button is not there.  Help?

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

    You'll find it in Settings.

  • Icloud downloading previous purchases

I am running XP on my PC.  I have purchased songs from iTunes via my PC.  These songs are listed in my Purchased File.  Now iTunes is indiscriminately downloading duplicates of some songs to my PC from iCloud.  When the duplicates download, they are subsequently removed from my Purchased File but remain in my Music Library. Anyone have this happen?  Anyone know why?

Many thanks for the suggestion and help.  I tried it and the iCloud downloads stopped.
I would still like to know why it would download random songs for no apparent reason - even though the songs were purchased in Itunes from the same PC that is receiving the downloads at random.  I wonder why....
    Thanks again.

  • Supposedly you can play or download songs using the icloud download button, a cloud icon with a downward arrow inside. But nothing happens when I click or double click on it.

supposedly you can download or play songs using the icloud download button, a cloud icon with a downward arrow inside. But nothing happens when I click or double click on it.

You have to have music in your iCloud account to do that...when you open the Music app on your iPad, for example, you can access all music from iCloud that you have already placed in the iCloud or associated with iCloud.  That is not for downloading music you have not already purchased or downloaded.

  • Download by clicking the iCloud download button

    The Apple publicity says ...
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button. iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection. Apple TV only streams songs.
I have loaded my entire iTunes library on my IMac to iCloud with iTunes Match. (successfully completed)
Now I want to download (not stream) the entire iTunes Match library (including iTunes non-purchased music) in the iCloud back to my IMac iTunes library (to benefit amongst other things to better bit rate recordings) but cannot find the "the iCloud download button" on  iTunes on the iMac.
What have I not understood in this process ?
Can somebody tell me how to download the iCloud music to iTunes on an iMac ?
    many thanks
    Stuart

Winston the status shown in the URL you gave http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4124 show just anomalies. There are two other status: Matched and Uploaded shown.
So take a look at  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4915
    This solves my problem:
1 First I needed to delete all Matched in my iTunes (select all, then Delete, BUT do not click the checkbox to also delete the item from iCloud.)
2 The Matched ones remain in the iTunes list, with an iCloud icon with a "down arrow" inside the iCloud icon, signifying "can be downloaded".
3 Then select "all" those Matched ones again and with cntrl click and chose Download from the drop down menu, and hey presto, iTunes starts to download and replace all the previously deleted Matched songs in your iTunes library with their clean 256kb version. The Matched status stays in place and the iCloud icon with the downarrow disappears one by one as each song is downloaded.
    4. Itunes seems to be downloading 3 songs simultaneously and takes on average about 3-4 seconds a song on my iMAC
I hope this helps you too.
Thanks for your help and ideas, but this definately seems to be working ...am still downloading at the moment.
I'll let u know if there were any hiccups during the download process.

  • Stalled ICloud download on new iPhone 5,  64 GB.

The Icloud download to my two day old Iphone 5, 64gb has stalled for 24 hours.
However, I downloaded speed test during the stalled Icloud  download.
The download time for speed test was 45secs.
The test showed 52.74 dnlwd, 10.06 upld and 17 ms ping.
Xfinity hi def tv is fast and excellent.  Beautiful video.
I am using the new Apple dual band router which is supported by the
    the Iphone 5.
I have both the AT&T LTE and the Apple Router 4g dual band WiFi enabled on
my Iphone 5.   The Iphone five has version 6.0.1  installed.
I believe this is an Apple server problem, even though some reports from Apple
seem to indicate its Googles DNS server or a software/hardware problem with
    the Iphone 5.
Seems like a strange conclusion since everything seems to be working except the
    Icloud server.
I have tried resetting notifications, Cell only, wifi only and privacy system services.
I did shut down and restart several times.
I did not try rebooting or reseting the internet setup.
    All to no avail.
How can I restart the Icloud download?
    thanks,
    howie

Posting from the new Ipad one,  testing on my new Iphone 5.

I have found a solution to the posting listed below:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20264128#20264128   Stalled Icloud Download.
The download that stalled was from the App Store purchased database.   It may have been caused by one
    several problems.
One:  I tried to download all of my purchased apps at the same time,  which created a DOS type event on my Iphone.
Two:  One of the apps downloaded was damaged and caused the stall.
Solution:   I deleted all of the stalled apps on my Iphone.   And I am now downloading selected apps one at a
time.   My apps database contains apps purchased for my Ipad.  I may not need all of them on my Iphone.
The Iphone 5 64 GB is working ok with no anomalies.
A super great improvement over my Blackberry Torch!!
THANKS MUCH APPLE FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!
    Howie.

  • HT1391 Purchased items - icloud downloads to hard drive

I have a new MacBook Air and have just purchased my first movie since having this Mac.  The purchase has gone to icloud only it seems and I can't find how to download it to my itunes library on my hard drive.  Have tried "check for available downloads" in the store menu but this just keeps listing the film over and over again in the purchased playlist and they are all 'greyed' out.  I can play the movie on my Mac and on my apple TV via icloud but would rather have it on my hard drive.  Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or how I need to set this up so that all purchases go to my itunes library on my hard drive?
