ICloud Drive App

Hello
After installung iOS 8.1 i'm still missing an App for my iCloud like DropBox or how do you save received PDF Attachments by E-Mail in your iCloud?
In the other way how do I insert an Attachment from my iCloud in to a new E-Mail? Photos or Videos are no Problem but I'm missing the functionality to Access my iCloud directly from my E-Mail to insert files in an E-Mail.
Best regards
- André

Yes it´s strange that you should dig deep into other apps to reach for files i iCloud drive! I want an separate app like Dropbox and Googledrive...
I pay for 200GB and was going from Dropbox to iCloud so I hope they are coming with an app soon!

  • Where is the iCloud Drive app icon (folder) in iOS 8? Like the one the show on their website.

I am running Yosemite on my Macs and updated to ios8 on all of my iPads and iPhone. Yet, I have found no way to access my iCloud Drive folder on the mobile devices. The Apple website for iCloud clearly shows iOS devices viewing an iCloud drive folder with end user customized sub-folders. I called tech support and they agreed that that's what the website was showing but informed me that as iCloud Drive and ios8 are so new they did not know yet how to set them up. I arrange my files by project not program and I need to view PDFs and other non iWork's files. Does anyone out there have a clue? Thank you.

I'm not using it, but my understanding is that you can only access iCloud Drive documents on an iOS device from within an app that is iCloud Drive compatible.  At least at the present time, there isn't an iCloud Drive app for an iOS device that provides general access to documents.  See http://www.imore.com/icloud-drive-clearing-up-confusion.

  • Is there an iCloud Drive app for the iPhone?

Is there an iCloud Drive app for the iPhone?  I have a 5c that's running 8.0.2.
I was able to install iCloud Drive on my pc.  I placed some files out there and would like to view them on my iPhone but I can't seem to find the iCloud Drive app in the app store.
There appears to be an iCloud Drive app according to the pictures here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/icloud-drive/.
Is the app not available yet?

I've had an android phone since they first came out.  Verizon took forever to get the iphone and by the time they did, I was so used to having a phone with a big screen and was already on a 4g device and I didn't want to take a step back to 3g and a smaller screen so I never gave apple a try.  I recently sold my android phone in preparation for the next android phone release and I broke my temporary phone trying to it's replace it's cracked glass (something that's much easier to do on an iphone btw) so I had to find another temp phone.  With the release of the iphone 6/6+ and everyone going so crazy about it, I decided to borrow a friend's old 5c for a month to see what all the hype was about when it comes to iphones while I wait for my android phone to come in.  So far I can honestly say aside from a few things here and there, I haven't really felt like there's much of a difference to warrant the flame wars that I see on android vs apple.  Some things work better on iOS for sure but there are some things I'm used to doing on android that I can't do on iOS. I really like it's overall simplistic feeling.  The people on the far left and far right in terms of apple over android or android over apple and their arguments are pretty comical to me now that I've had some exposure to both.
Anyway in terms of the iCloud drive, from everything I've read it looks like it'll be identical to Google Drive which I've been using for years but without an app, it's definitely confusing on how I get to my documents and photos that I've stored on my iCloud Drive.  With android, before the app I could go to the desktop site for google drive and access my documents.  When I try to go to icloud drive from safari on my phone, it automatically takes me to "set up icloud tutorial" even though it's already set up on my phone.  I'm happy to find that I'm not the only one that's confused by apple's description of the implementation and what's actually implemented.
I still have a few weeks before I get my android, but I'd be lying if said I haven't considered cancelling my preorder of the note 4 and grabbing a 6+ to give an iphone more than a months trial.  I mean in the end, people buy iphone's like candy so it's not like I'd be stuck if I end up ultimately not liking it.
Thanks for your responses, hopefully they implement it's full functionality while I still have time to decide one way or another.

  • ICloud Drive Apps Freeze

Since I have installed iOS 8 on my iPhone and activated iCloud drive, apps that use iCloud freeze immediately upon opening the app.  This includes Pages, Numbers, and other Apple apps and 3rd party apps such as Notability and Scanner Pro. Since all of these apps used iCloud drive, I'm assuming that this is the issue.

Bump.  I see this using Scannable.  Same crash in Scanner Pro and Documents.  Even if only one is running, it still happens.  Reboot, kill apps, nothing helps.

  • ICloud Drive iOS app?

Hello, This may of been posted before but I wanted to know if there is or will be an iCloud Drive app for iOS or any other OS?

For Windows and OS X, there already is. Pretty much any browser (www.icloud.com). For iOS, I suppose it is possible, but the approach to iCloud is still pretty much direct integration with the apps that can do the work with the stored file (iWorks Apps, any third party app that is designed to use iCloud). Documents by Readdle connects to Drive. There may be some others in the app store.

  • How do I consolidate all this at this point: Icloud Drive, Itunes Match, Local iTunes Library, Local iPhoto, Local Aperture, Photo stream, Familly sharing, sharing on iOS, music sharing on iOS, music sharing on mac etc.

I am trying to grasp all the possibilities for consolidating my stuff and my family's stuff from multiple devices and multiple accounts from multiple sources  but I cant.
I have been reading many instructions and FAQ regarding iCloud Drive, iCloud Sharing, iTunes Match, Familly Sharing, file size limitations on iCloud Drive, app sharing on iOS, Backup vs Sync vs cloud sharing,  storing iWork documents on iCloud drive, storing iTunes library on iCloud Drive, storing iPhoto library on iCloud Drive, storing Aperture library on the iCloud, the Photos app on iOS with iCloud and many others.... but I feel like I need a systems admin course from apple to manage all of it.
This is what I and my family currently have:
Hardware: Multiple iPhones, Multiple Macs, Apple TV (with hard drive), Multiple iPads.
Operating systems: Everything is upgraded to the latest iOS and Yosemite.
    Libraries:
    1)  Multiple iTunes Libraries locally stored on Macs and IPhones with lossless CD music and iTunes purchased music. What I want to do:
    a) Have a main family shared iTunes library across ALL devices that contains our Lossless music and purchased music. so that it can be played across ALL   devices. With the ability to have private music for each individual (Not shared).
    b) Purchase new music and add it to the family share or purchase music and make it private (Not shared).
    2)  Multiple iPhoto Libraries macs (With photo stream from iPhones) and ONE Aperture Library on my mac. What I want to do:
    a) Have a main family shared photo library that every one can deposit to and view.
    b) Store individual iPhoto libraries on iCloud Drive(s)? So that everyone can have their own library and edit it across THEIR devices.
    c) Store and use my Aperture Library on iCloud Drive?
    Other documents:
iWork files, PDFs etc. What I want to do:
    a) Have a main family shared area (on iCloud Drive i suppose) where we can share documents.
    b) Sync private documents across ALL individuals devices (Available locally and on iCloud).
    c) Store private documents (One instance)  on iCloud drive and make them available on ALL individuals devices.
    d) Backup of local documents?
    Apps:
    iOS apps:
    a) Share purchased apps?
    b) Not share private apps.
    Storage:
What do I purchase to accomplish the above:
    a) iCloud storage for everyone?
    b) iTunes Match for everyone?
    c) All of the above?
    Conclusion:
It would be great for Apple to explain all this with all the options in one concise document instead of hunting down individual documents and sections all over the place.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hey there!
You and I are data soulmates. I have been having this trouble for a while and have yet to get my head around it. Our problem is that we've cycled through multiple macs and the "home" or "host" for all the stuff that's now been moved or moving to the Cloud is very scattered. It drives me crazy... almost to the point where I'm thinking about starting a brand-new iCloud account and beginning from scratch.
If you have any experiences or recommendations you could share about your strategy, I would love to hear it.

  • I can't find my files through iCloud Drive

Through Safari, on my Mac, I added files to Preview in my iCloud account. I cannot find them on my iPhone or iPad. Can anybody help?

There is no icloud drive app available for ios devices so icloud drive is kinda useless on ios devices.
You have too use other apps with icloud drive support like documents 5 but this does not work perfect for me.

  • Read pdf files stored in icloud drive from ios8

Ok. So how do I Access and read my PDF files stored in icloud drive from my ipad?
I´ve read that there´s no icloud drive App like dropbox and that it has to be done from a third party App. (strange enough), but I can´t seem to find a third party App that connects to icloud drive yet.
    Thanks.

The Apple website specifically states "Because with iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images and any other kind of document in iCloud and access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC.".
Now, howe do I "store my PDF" and "access them from my iPhone"?

  • How can I view Preview documents on iOS 8 via iCloud Drive.

I have a number of PDF documents in iCloud drive in the Preview folder. How to I view these documents on my iPhone 5s? I have the latest software and iCloud Drive is enabled. Pages only looks under the Pages folder apparently. Is there some hidden way to view my Preview PDFs in iOS 8?
*edit* For some reason the Apple Support site thinks my iPhone is running 7.0.3, but it is in fact using 8.0.2.
    Thank you.

Would be a good idea to have an iCloud Drive app, JUST LIKE DROPBOX for fxsake. I want to organize things my way -- not be forced to use app-specific folders and a single layer of nesting. And if you're going to force that on me, then give me a Preview folder and TextEdit folder on iOS.

  • ICloud drive still "setting up" after 2 days

I installed Yosemite on three Macs the day of release and I noticed that all three automatically turned on iCloud drive. Problem is that after two days, when I open iCloud in Preferences, it still says that iCloud drive is being set up. Meanwhile I have files I need to access on iCloud and I can't reach them. Any suggestions about what I can do? TIA

I've managed to fix this problem by signing out of iCloud altogether and signing in again.
In detail, I went into System Preferences -> iCloud, clicked the Sign Out button, clicked the Delete buttons for all the individual apps as their dialogues came up and then signed in to iCloud again using my Apple ID and password. The iCloud Preferences dialogue took a while to process the iCloud Drive 'App' and seemed to generate a lot of network traffic but it eventually displayed an Options button just like all the other iCloud-enabled apps. Note that I had to choose the option to delete all files in iCloud because the only other option was to cancel the operation. (I assumed that cancelled the whole process of signing out of iCloud.) As I wasn't using iCloud Drive before deleting all files wasn't a problem for me.

  • Can not access iCloud drive from iPad

can not access iCloud drive from iPad

iOS 8/8.1 does not have an iCloud Drive app (that works like OneDrive or Dropbox, etc..). Instead you have to open the application first (ie. Numbers) which will show you your iCloud drive files that you can open and work with.
This is the exact reason I am currently migrating all of my documents BACK to OneDrive. If I don't know what the filetype is of a file that I am looking to open (ie. Word document or PDF) then I'm screwed. At least with OneDrive (or DropBox, or Google Drive, etc.) I can browse my files from my mobile device.

  • ICloud Drive on the Web won't let me drag and drop

I paid for the 200GB of iCloud storage and created some test folders on iCloud Drive just to make sure the iCloud.Com iCloud Drive app works as well as Dropbox's online version. It is nearly as good, but iCloud Drive on the web won't let me upload folders (by drag and drop) from finder to the web iCloud app.  Apple says you can drag and drop.
It tells me that "This type of file needs to be compressed before it is uploaded". I'm going crazy! I need to be able to drag and drop or use the upload button to upload FOLDERS...not just files.  But it gives me this message every time, even for a folder with one .pdf inside.
    Please help!
    Thanks

That's not true. You can easily drag files to the web version of iCloud Drive. But when I try to drag a folder, it tells me I need to compress it first before uploading.  The point of iCloud Drive is that you can access it via iCloud.com anywhere and upload folders and files. I just can't seem to upload folders. Uploading files works fine.
    Does anyone have a fix?

  • I cannot see the contents of my icloud drive on my ipad

I have uploaded a number of files to my icloud drive on my mac mini.
When i log into icloud.com i can see all the files in my icloud drive.
I have configured and set up icloud on my other devices, all are supporting the latest software.
However i cannot view any of the files on my icloud drive from my ipad.
i have approx 30 mobi files on the drive and i have kindle on my ipad, back up is complet, open kindle no files.
I can email them to myself from the icloud drive and open them in kindle and save to library but that defeats the whole point of having a cloud drive.
    Need help.

Hi, I have this problem too. I've uploaded photos of my granddaughter to iCloud Drive on my 5 year old PC and can see the content on my PC at iCloud .com - though the system does not allow me to see minimised photos, just lots of numbered, blue rectangle icons. I spent over 2.5 hours with Apple Support yesterday and they could NOT resolve the issue in any straightforward manner, though did suggest I go through the same time consuming uploading process placing the same photos in the Beta version of 'Photos' available at iCloud.com. What a cumbersome system. Why hasn't Apple offered an iCloud Drive app (free of charge) so that once content has been placed in iCloud Drive it can Bev retrieved on any iOS device, as Apple suggest. Here is what they say at Apple.com (see also the illustrations they offer for iCloud Drive on an iPad - I was informed yesterday, by two advisors, that they couldn't find way to locate the suggested pages either?)
Storing files in iCloud is simple. Just as it should be.
To upload your files to iCloud, simply drag them into the iCloud Drive on your Mac running OS X Yosemite or PC running Windows 7 or later. Or start a new document using an iCloud-enabled app on your iOS device. Then you’ll be able to access those documents from all your devices.

  • ICloud Drive permanently setting up

I upgraded my iMac from Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday. iCloud Drive in System Preferences and Finder seemed to be stuck in 'Setting up...'. Having shutdown the Mac overnight and started it again today iCloud Drive is still 'Setting up...'. I saw this question in the iCloud section of this forum minutes ago but I can't find it now. The earlier message asked whether it might have something to do with having an iPhone 4 running iOS 7, which is also my situation. But we do also have an iPad mini running iOS 8 and it would be nice to able to share files between the Mac and the iPad.
    Any suggestions?
