ICloud Drive Not Finding Latest Revision

Is anyone else having issues with iCloud Drive not pulling updated versions of Numbers files?
It's getting to the point where the service is so friggin' unreliable that I have to check every single file on my iPhone prior to using it on my Macbook because iCloud Drive just seems to refuse to pull the latest revision of a file in Yosemite. I'm fine as long as the last time I updated the file was on the Macbook, but if I update it on my desktop, on iCloud.com, or on any of my iOS devices, the Macbook won't ever find the newer versions of the file.
The only success I have is turning iCloud Drive off (allowing the files to be deleted from my system) then turning iCloud Drive back on. This will pull the latest versions only there's no way to prioritize the order of the files or which files to sync so it can take an hour or more to get everything back onto my system so that I can open it.
Any ideas short of dumping iCloud Drive and using a reliable service like Dropbox?
Tim

Hey Tim Klein,
Thanks for the question. I too would be just as frustrated if my documents were not staying up-to-date when using iCloud drive. It sounds like you have found an applicable work around, but let’s see if we can actually resolve this issue.

Upgraded to Yosemite- iCloud Drive in Finder works, no documents in iCloud web, not documents in iPad or iPhone- both upgraded to IOS 8

Well I just fixed this, by sheer luck.
I did a restart of my MacBook Pro, and after it restarted iCloud was visible and accessible in Finder.
It seems all that it needs is a system restart.

  • Why is iCloud drive not showing all my folders?

    Greetings and Salutations,
Upgraded everything to ios8 on the iPad, and to Yosemite on the iMac and Macbook Pro. I bought 200gb of iCloud Drive storage and then moved what was on an external drive to the iCloud drive on my iMac. No problem. Then I go to the Macbook Pro, open the iCloud Drive and what do you know? Only about half of the folders and documents are showing up! Same thing on the is iPhone 6 and the iPad 2 with iOS 8.
Anyone else having this issue with iCloud Drive not syncing correctly? Appreciate the help!

Again, my issues were limited to the iPad.
In Settings/iCloud I signed out of my iCloud account. It asks you a couple of times about what data you want kept on your iPad. I chose to delete everything to give a clean slate. (You might want to opt to keep stuff depending on your situation.) It will also remove your device from Find My Phone if you use it.
I then turned off the iPad, waited 10 secs, and re-booted it. I then went back into Settings/iCloud and signed into my iCloud account. It then verified my account (it took a while to do this), and I went into Numbers to check that it had access to my iCloud Drive. It may have been that Apple's servers were really busy last night but it did take a while for all my documents to be available in Numbers, Pages, etc. It wasn't instantaneous but the apps were telling me that things were being updated so I left it to it. All fine now.
You could also do the same steps in OS X System Preferences/iCloud.

  • HT1338 Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 on iMac mid-2007 that downloaded automatically on iMac mid-2011

Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update on my iMac mid-2007, but it downloaded it automatically on my iMac mid-2011 yesterday. Both are running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. When I try to download the update manually from Apple on my older iMac, it downloads okay, but when I try to open the dmg file, I get a warning message saying that opening this update may make your computer LESS secure. Do you want to proceed? (I did not).
Why would Software Update find this update and install it automatically on one iMac and not the other, if they are both running the same version of Mac OS X Lion? I checked the installed software list on my old iMac and the Java update does not appear there. Why would this update make my old iMac less secure?

Recall that Java is not installed as part of Lion.
You have to install it (and are asked if you want to) when you first try to run some java stuff.
Is it possible that the iMac 2007 does not have Java yet?
Try this: open Terminal (from Utilities) and type java -version (exactly like that, with the space before the hyphen).
    What do you get?
Consistent with this theory is that the dmg thing gave you the warning - installing java might make your machine less secure because java is a means for bad guys to try to do bad things to your computer.

  • 2 Icloud drive in finder

No.  The only iCloud drive that will show in the Finder is the one associated with the iCloud account for that user account.

  • ICloud Drive not the same in Finder as on iCloud?

I know there have been previous posts about this issue; and I have read some of them ... but have not found the answer. I apologize if this question is redundant; but I would appreciate any help you can offer.
When I look at iCloud Drive on iCloud, I seem to have a complete set of folders; but I do not have all these folders in the Finder. Has anyone found a solution to cause the same folder setup available on iCloud to also appear in Finder? I had high hopes that iCloud Drive would work similarly to DropBox ... but so far, not so good.
(On a sidenote, I also use Path Finder; and I have more folders in the iCloud Drive folder there than in the Finder; but they still don't match those on iCloud. This is rather interesting in itself since Path Finder picks up the sidebar arrangement, etc. directly from Finder as far as I can tell. I even have some strange folders that show up in Path Finder when it picks up the iCloud Drive folder from the Finder that don't show up in either Finder or iCloud online. This is possibly a Path Finder issue OR an issue with Finder reporting to Path Finder ... so my question is not really concerning the Path Finder issues since I feel that if the Finder reported correctly, Path Finder would also. I only mention the Path Finder issues as a sidenote.)
Any comments, solutions, ideas, etc. will be MUCH appreciated. Thanks.

The only folders that show up on the Mac in the Finder are those what have a file in them, i.e. the Pages folder won't show up on the Mac unless you save a Pages file to the iCloud.  Pages will have a folder in the online iCloud whether or not there are any files in them.
Check the contents of the folders online and only those containing files will show in the iCloud/Finder window.

  • Viewing iCloud Drive in Finder

When I open iCloud Drive in the Finder I HAVE seen folders for the apps that can save files to iCloud Drive and files within them that I have saved there. But usually all I see in iCloud Drive is a folder "iCloud Drive Upgrade - Recovered Documents".
Relaunching Finder SOMETIMES fixes it but even when it does it doesn't last. Same for restarts.
    Why is this?

finder menu > preferences > toolbar (not sure how it's called I'm in french)
then you should be able to select what stuff you want in the toolbar

  • ICloud Drive not working

Hey guys, badly need your help (and wisdom)!!
I'll tell you my story: this morning I woke up early (got insomnia at times) and asked myself "why not finally upgrade my iOS devices to iOS 8?". I've got an iPad 3er gen and an iPhone 4S (both running iOS7 'till today). So I did a clean install on them both by restoring them via iTunes. That went fine. The problem came when I tried to sign up to iCloud after restoring. I tapped on "Update to iCloud Drive" (I had iOS 7 'till this morning so I just had 'normal' iCloud). I've been so unlucky that the day I've chosen to carry out the upgrade (it's taken my time to make my mind up) has been exactly the day iCloud has been down most of the time so now when I go to Settings and then iCloud, the item "iCloud Drive" says "Updating..." and just besides it, there's the so-called spinning ball (the typical that shows up when something is loading) and nothing happens (it's been like this the whole day). It happens just the same on both devices, the iPad and the iPhone, and also on my iMac (it runs Yosemite, just in case someone is wondering). What can I do to get my iCloud Drive finally working? I've tried to log out and then in on all of the devices but that didn't work. Any help will be hugely appreciated. Thanks!!!

I haven't seen that before, so I would look at that logically. Icloud drive has to be updated on apple server and on your devices. If you login to icloud.com and can click on icloud drive and access documents - then server had been updated and you need to troubleshoot devices with normal pattern -restart -reset- restore. Start with one device and do not touch others. If you can not login and open, that would mean changes are still being made on the icloud server. I do not believe you can speed up anything there, but I would try to turn drive off on all devices and leave it for few days. No other ideas, sorry.

  • ICloud drive not syncing on yosemite

So I use iCloud drive quite extensively across my iPhone, iPad, mac and iCloud.com.
All devices (including iCloud.com) always seem to be kept in sync, except my mac. I'll find files that are more than 24 hours out of sync with the rest of my devices.
    Any thoughts?

Did this recently start happening?  I use the same devices and starting this past weekend, experienced the same issue.
Last night, I disabled iCloud Drive on my Mac and re-enabled it and that was a big mistake, as on my Mac iCloud drive has been "setting up iCloud Drive..." for the last 12 hours.   For me, iCloud has worked perfectly until his past Saturday.
If I open Keynote, I can see document, but they all look like this (iCloud waiting to download)
For an experiment, I disabled iCloud Drive and re-enabled on my iPhone and now it has been stuck at updating for the last 12 hours:
If I look in my router's client list, I can see there is no activity from my iPhone or iMac, so it appears to be waiting on iCloud.
One last experiment, I update a presentation on my iPhone and it immediately gets uploaded to iCloud, so this appears to only be a download issue.
