Icloud drive setting up

My i cloud drive setting up for two days now. all it says is this
Can someone please help.

It will depend on how much data has to be moved to iCloud Drive. 30 minutes is a long time, but not unbelievable.

  • HT201104 iCloud drive set up is taking over an hour...is this normal?

I just loaded Yose on my macbook pro and I am trying to set up iCloud Drive...it has been spinning in set up mode for over an hour.

I  started to have the problem when I was trying to sync 1Password after first loading Yose...and before I set up iCloud Drive via systems preferences. I fixed it by quitting the set up and re-booting a couple of times and starting over from system preferences/icloud.  When I quit the set-up I just ok'd the warnings about not being able to access iCloud data. But not-to-worry all data seems to be available.

  • HT201385 how can I see a folder in iCloud drive with documents from my computer on my other devices?  Seems like it only works with iApps like Pages etc.

I have iCloud drive set up on all my apple devices and all is current, but I have a older I put in iCloud drive on my laptop.  How can I get to those documents in that folder on my iPhone and iPad? Is there also a way to grant access like in the good old days for someone to drop a file to me in a quasi-public folder in iCloud drive.  We did this years ago in OS7...why not now?

You're going to find that pretty much every cloud storage system works in a similar way. Some, like OneDrive, will allow you to select what folders sync to and from every machine it's installed on.
Maybe something like that would fit your needs better.

I have just upgraded to the new OS X V. 10.10.3 but cannot access my iCloud Drive documents using the resident Pages and Numbers software on my MacBook Pro. Help is needed to access those documents using the resident software on my MacBook Pro rather than the Beta software on iCloud.com.

  • How to access iCloud drive on iMac and iPad with different iCloud IDs?

I have Numbers spreadsheets in an iCloud drive set up on my iMac with one Apple ID, and I have a different Apple ID for my iPad and iPhone and a third Apple ID for my wife iPad and iPhone.  Is it possible for us to access the iCloud drive on the iMac with our iPads and iPhones that have different Apple IDs that the iMac?

iCloud Drive will not work until you are running Yosemite which is not yet released. Turn it off. If you are running the Yosemite beta, then we will not provide support for you here.

  • I can't set up iCloud drive on my iMac after upgrading to Yosemite

I can't set up iCloud drive on my iMac after upgrading to Yosemite - iPhone and iPad are updated but both say my iMac isn't (even though it is running Yosemite).
My iMac is OS X Yosemite 10.10 (14A389), memory is 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 and storage capacity is 273.64 free of 999.35 GB.
When i go to System Preferences and click on iCloud. The iCloud Drive section is greyed out and says setting up and a spinning pin wheel. It stays like this the whole time. I have tried restarting the computer. i amanita sure what else to do to make it work. Any suggestion would be great.

I found another way to correct this...
    1)  Select Message, then go to Preferences,
    2)  a window will appear with 3 options, General, Accounts, Audio Video, don't be surprised when you see a video of yourself, your camera just turned on.
    3) Select Accounts (you may have several here)
    4) Select the account that has "iMessage" under the account name.  This may likely be your Apple ID  ****@me.com
    5) Look at what is checked under the "You can be reached for messages at:"
    6) Select the one account (or more if you like) and deselect the others
    7) Close the window and the problem goes away.
I'm not longer getting my sons iMessages.

  • Setting up iCloud Drive for a family is a nightmare!

Setting up iCloud Drive for a family is a nightmare!  I have spent the last two hours trying to figure out a smart way to make it work!  First off, even though the name is similar, iCloud Drive seems to be a very different thing than Google Drive or Dropbox.  There is no "sharing" option.  This is what is so frustrating at the moment.
My family has used one main Apple ID for years.  I recently upgraded the iCloud space so my daughter could sync her iPhone to the cloud.  So, I updated to Yosemite and iCloud Drive and REALLY LIKED many aspects of the new system.  However, in order to make many of the new features work, like having the text messages come to the computer, and having the phone calls (which are linked to Facetime) come to the computer I am faced with all kinds of dilemmas.  My wife and I have two Macbooks.  In order for her to get her phone calls forwarded to her Macbook she needs to have her phone number AND e-mail address that's associated with the specific iCloud Account that her computer is logged into.  We have mainly been logging in to the same Apple ID.  In order for her to access her own phone vs. mine she will have to log her computer in to a different Apple ID - but that will also mean a new iCloud Drive.
I think these new features in Yosemite are great - but they are geared towards individual people.  There have been many articles written about how to deal with Apple IDs within a family.  There need to be some updated articles on how to deal with iCloud Drive and a family.  To me it's just way, way too complicated. It seems like it doesn't "just work" anymore.

  • New Macbook Pro set up is stuck on iCloud Drive upgrade screen

I am setting up a new macbook pro and have chosen the option to upgrade to iCloud Drive. After choosing to continue with that option, the spinning ball has been active for quite sometime. Is this normal? I am afraid to force restart as it is a brand new computer.

I had the same issue.  I logged in & registered the device SN (several other devices (SN's) are already associated with the account).  I don't know if this is simply coincidental or not, but as soon as I did that the new mac book pro continued into setup & eventually finished booting up & is now apparently pulling in user/account settings.  I still have to confirm the iCloud Drive setup, but so far at least it moved on past the 'spinning wheel.'

  • In Settings\iCloud Don't See "upgrade to iCloud drive" or "set up family sharing"

I would like to use family sharing.  We have iOS8, but in Settings\iCloud we don't see "upgrade to iCloud drive" or "set up family sharing".  I am unsure what else to do.  I searched support, but they all see to assume we can see these settings.
    Help!

    Hi wmcknigh,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article below should help you resolve the issue with shared content not appearing after setting up Family sharing on the MacBook Pros.

  • ICloud drive still "setting up" after 2 days

I installed Yosemite on three Macs the day of release and I noticed that all three automatically turned on iCloud drive. Problem is that after two days, when I open iCloud in Preferences, it still says that iCloud drive is being set up. Meanwhile I have files I need to access on iCloud and I can't reach them. Any suggestions about what I can do? TIA

I've managed to fix this problem by signing out of iCloud altogether and signing in again.
In detail, I went into System Preferences -> iCloud, clicked the Sign Out button, clicked the Delete buttons for all the individual apps as their dialogues came up and then signed in to iCloud again using my Apple ID and password. The iCloud Preferences dialogue took a while to process the iCloud Drive 'App' and seemed to generate a lot of network traffic but it eventually displayed an Options button just like all the other iCloud-enabled apps. Note that I had to choose the option to delete all files in iCloud because the only other option was to cancel the operation. (I assumed that cancelled the whole process of signing out of iCloud.) As I wasn't using iCloud Drive before deleting all files wasn't a problem for me.

iCloud Drive will not work on my iPad 3. Pages crashes when I try. Settings resets to off after it crashes. any suggestions?

From the Ipad manual - actually the same in Ipad, Ipod, Iphone --- the support site listed has frequently asked questions on Icloud drive.
    Set up iCloud Drive
You can set up iCloud Drive using Setup Assistant when you install iOS 8, or you can set it up later in Settings. iCloud Drive is an upgrade to Documents & Data. When you upgrade to iCloud Drive, your documents are copied to iCloud Drive and become available on your devices using iCloud Drive. You won’t be able to access the documents stored in iCloud Drive on your other devices until they are also upgraded to iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite. For more information about upgrading to iCloud Drive, see support.apple.com/kb/HT6345.
Set up iCloud Drive. Go to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive, turn on iCloud Drive, then follow the onscreen instructions.

  • ICloud Drive permanently setting up

I upgraded my iMac from Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday. iCloud Drive in System Preferences and Finder seemed to be stuck in 'Setting up...'. Having shutdown the Mac overnight and started it again today iCloud Drive is still 'Setting up...'. I saw this question in the iCloud section of this forum minutes ago but I can't find it now. The earlier message asked whether it might have something to do with having an iPhone 4 running iOS 7, which is also my situation. But we do also have an iPad mini running iOS 8 and it would be nice to able to share files between the Mac and the iPad.
    Any suggestions?

  • Stuck at "setting up icloud drive"

    Hello,
I seem to be having another problem with Yosemite. It's been 12 hours and multiple reboots and icloud drive is stuck in finder saying "Setting up iCloud drive" and it's spinning like it's working.
    Nothing is happening.
    Anyone else with this problem?

Yes I encountered this and an Apple Tech walked me through it last night...
First (before call support), I used Force Quit to quit that process  (there was a com.apple.... app showing up in red there so I quit that)
Then I rebooted and saw that iCloud Drive was actually on.... however my reminders and calendars weren't checked off and when I tried to check them I ran into the same spinning beachballs problem.
When I called Apple support, they had me remove my iCloud account form the computer,  then had me remove some o0f the reminder and calendar files form the Library... reboot and re-sign into the iCloud account.... everything set up  perfectly at that point....
I'm sorry I don't remember the folders they had me remove from the Library,  but if you give support a call (they escalated mine to an engineer) they should be able to walk you through it... in case its helpful,  here is my case number for that issue: 390690794     ... customer support might be able to look up the steps to correct from that case number without having to escalate you to the next level for support....
