ICloud Drive Turned On but Finder Says It Isn't

When I access iCloud Drive in the Finder (it shows up in my sidebar so I don't have the same issue lots of others have), I'm told that it needs to be turned on in System Preferences. But it's already turned on! I've also noticed the "read only" icon in the lower left corner, which I'm assuming is the issue. Any ideas how I can set the permissions on this folder so that it works properly?
I have tried booting into recovery and resetting my home directory permissions. That had no effect on the iCloud issue. The AirDrop folder view also shows the "read only" icon.

The path to the folder (on your Mac) used by iCloud is ~/library/mobile documents
Are you sure about the all-lower-case letters, Csound1?
On my Mac the path is
~/Library/Mobile Documents/
@ Ben Hinc:  The folder will open by typing into the Terminal
open ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/
To see the permissions in the Terminal, type
ls -dl ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/

  • PC1 / itunes: Homeshare turned on, but ATV3 says it isn't.

    PC1 / itunes, Win7 : Homeshare turned on, but ATV3 says it isn't.
PC2 on same network, also running Win7, itunes installed, ATV3 sees the Homesharing from that PC.
Deleted all Apple programs on PC1, rebooted, installed iTunes -  situation unchanged.
So, I have 2 PCs on the same network, both Win7 (PC1 is 64 bit, PC2 is 32bit) both using the same up to date iTunes (11.1.0.126), but ATV3 only responds to one of them.
I really need to get PC1 to provide a Homeshaare service. It did do Homesharing prior to the latest update on the ATV3. I have reloaded the software to the ATV3.
    Any ideas please???

Okay folks am gotta keep this short sorry! I had myself in the same place after just a simple update failed to install properly......
Here's how to fix...... simply uninstall Bonjour, Apple Mobile Devices Support, Apple Application Supportand of course iTunes after all this has been done head over to App "C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Local", "C:\ProgramData", "C:\Program Files (x86) & "C:\ProgramData" Delete everything to do with the programs that have been uninstalled but be careful not to delete any iCloud stuff or Safari as its a pain in the arse to go and repair. Just for good measure run a Desktop Cleaner or manually delete your temp folders to help make sure the reinstall is clean as possible.
After All that has been done Restart PC and Download a nice fresh install of iTunes 11.1 and run as normal and all should be good if you need to agree to the terms and conditions again....
Just FYI I found it to be the "iPod Module (64x)" that fail to install correctly with already having a previous version install which seem to create all the problems with the firewall...
Hope This helped you all.....now go back to your wife before they find someone else while your on here tearing your hair out lol!!

I lost my phone.  icloud was turned on but I don't see my photos on my new phone.  Is there anything I can do to locate these images?

Do you have an icloud back up ?? you can restore from a back up

my ipod touch will turn on, but it says that it is disabled and please connect to itunes, i do but itunes doesnt recognize the ipod.

try restoring the device in DFU mode. while connected to the computer and itunes open, press and hold the power button and home button at the same time and count to 20 then release the top power button while continuing to hold the home button. the screen on the ipod should still be black and you should see a message pop up on the itunes window. follow steps on screen and restore from there

I recently got a charging case for my iPhone 5s, but it says it isn't certified and may not work reliably with my iPhone. What can I do to fix it?

Buy one that is certified. Your current case might work without problems, and then might stop working in the future.  iOS 7 is especially "sensitive" to uncertified peripherals. With this iOS release they have started to clamp down on "pirate" peripherals.

  • How do I add iCloud drive to Favorites in Finder window?

Due to an accident with a mouse with a dying battery, I managed to remove iCloud drive item from the Favorites in the Finder window. If you do it with one, they're all missing it. So how do I restore it? I can't find any way to do it. Help articles are utterly useless as they say nothing on the matter. I don't even know what iCloud drive is and yet I have apparently permanently removed it from the favorites list.

I feel like a *******, since it seems obvious now. I guess when you're so close to the matter you don't see it.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • I tried to change from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac but it says that my browser is not supported. My Firefox is the latest software so whats the problem?

    Can anyone help?

All the devices are upgraded to version 5 which itunes says is the latest version. It seems that when I change my mobileme account to icloud on the mac it does not accept it. When I open icloud on the systems menu it says I must move my mobileme account to icloud but I have already done that. All that seems to work is the find your devices app.

  • Disk Utility says I have only 115kb of free space left, but Finder says 1TB is this why my computer is slow?

I want to instal the beta version of Yosemite on a partition, but when I open Disk Utility to do so, it won't allow me. After pressing the plus sign at the bottom of the screen I can not enter a value for the size. When I look down at the very bottom I read the following:
    Capacity: 3.12TB
    Available: 115KB
    Used: 3.12TB
My trash is empty and Finder says I have 1TB in free space available, so what's going on?
Perhaps related, my computer has been unreasonably slow (which is why I want to take the Beta for spin). I'm thinking there might be a connection. Is there a way to clear the detailed space so that Disk Utility will recognize it? In an attempt to speed things up I just reinstalled Maverick but nothing happened. I still can't partition and my computer is still slow.
    Everything is up to date.

If this is not the case, maybe try OmniDiskSweeper to see where all the storage is

  • Migrated from MobileMe to iCloud. Sync works, but Find My ... reports no location, even though Location Services shows ON.

I upgraded my iPhone and iPad to IOS5, migrated from mobile.me to iCloud, and deleted my mobile.me account from my devices under "Mail, Contacts, Calendars." My user name and password were different between mobile.me and the Apple Store account, so I used my Apple Store ID to activate iCloud.
All syncing now works fine, but Find My iPhone reports "Location Services disabled." That is true for both my iPhone and iPad. Nevertheless, Find My iPhone is still able to send a message or sound to my devices, even though it cannot locate them.
Find My iPhone is switched ON under the iCloud account on both devices, and is ON under Location Services. The only way I can get Find My iPhone to locate my devices is to re-enable mobile.me, but that is no solution since the mobile.me service is scheduled to end next year.
Can you help unravel this for me?

I think I solved it!  Remove the Ubiquity folder from ~/Library/Application Support/
OSX will create a new one and locations services will work perfectly!  Well, it worked for me!
    I love using exclamation points!!!

  • HT4623 I lost my apps and iTunes after a restore, but it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone 4. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos, but I'm still getting the same message.

I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!

Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

  • I tried downloading sims 3 but it says it isn't compatible it is a white macbook and the memory is 2 GB am i able to fix it?

I bought the sims 3 that is compatable with mac and pc and so i downloded it and a big paper poped up and said it had to me a macbook and i have a mac and so how am i able to fix it and download it and i have 2 GB. I have fully updated it so i dont know what is wrong with it

read the technical requirements and see if you mac meets them.  It probably doesn't if you says it isn't compatible.

  • I seem to have no free harddrive space but Finder says 11 GB free.

    Hi all,
I've been running into a strange problem lately: At some point, all my programs report that I have no more free space, even Photo Booth doesn't save video beyond 5 seconds or so or at all, but in Finder it says 11 GB free on any folder in my Mac partition. I also get the OS's 'startup disk full' message.
I emptied the trash, restarted multiple times, and went into single user mode to fsck -fy. that found only one thing, fixed it then rechecked and said it was successful, but nothing changed.
Is Finder wrong or is the rest of the OS wrong? How do I solve this?

When you choose your volume and "Get Info" what does it report?
You should not exceed 85% full on any volume.
WhatSize can help you find what (if anything) is hogging your disk space.
Also be aware your space will never completely add up

  • HT1212 i pad is disabled and it says to connect to i tunes.  The password was entered incorrectly too many times.  I tried to hold the home key and put the USB cord to turn it on.  It turns on but still says enter password into IPAD.

When I turn my ipad on it says it is disabled and connect to ITUNES

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note: Data will be lost
