ICloud Email address not working

I have recently migrated to iCloud from Mobile Me with my two email addresses (Me.com and Mac.com).
A few days ago I notices that I was not receiving  emails regularly and as of today I received the following error message while trying to test from a Google mail account :
From:           Mail Delivery Subsystem <[email protected]>
          Subject:           Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
    [email protected]
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: [email protected] (state 14).
I have not been able to find who to address this issue with Apple Support as no support line or email is directly available.
Does anybody share the same issue or know how to address this ?

Apparenty it worked, I am not getting the error message on the Me.com (50 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias:@me.com (state 14).)
I had tried to deleted the account on the iPhone but not on the Apple
Will wait a little more to se if incoming email are flowing back
Thanks for the tip
I found a lot of similar issues o the discussion forum, butno solution (other than waiting !) : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3373867

How do I change just my iCloud email address not my apple ID?

You CANNOT change your iCloud email address once it is created and associated to you Apple Id (usually it is another email address).  First time you activate iCloud on your device and turn on email setting, you are prompted to create an iCloud email account and after choosing one that is available you are CLEARLY warned that ONCE CREATED YOU iCLOUD EMAIL IT CANNOT BE CHANGED!!!
Fig.1 Warning if desired iCloud email      Fig. 2. Warning about creating new iCloud
address is not available                         email which will be associated to you Apple Id
You have two choices: a) create an alias for that account after you sign in icloud.com using either your apple id or your new created icloud email account (that's what I did) or b) create a new Apple Id (with all the pain it involves)
I typed an incorrect iCloud email address and was linked to my Apple Id and now I have to live with this forever!?
The workaround was to create an alias, but I have the feeling that something is wrong with my Apple Id
All of us might make a petition to apple to allow us to change the 'main' icloud email address.  What if I misspelled it!? How difficult can it be?
I hope this be helpful and answer your question.
P.S. In the same way... once you create your Apple Support Communities USERNAME it cannot be changed too!

I have the same problem.  I called Apple this morning, they told me that they restored "half" of the people affected last night and the next update will be 11 am EST.  Very frustrating to say the least!

Rescue email address not work and I forget my security question answers

If you don't have access to your rescue email account (you won't be able to change it until you can answer 2 of your questions), or you aren't receiving the email to it, then you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to update your rescue email address for potential future use, or you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

  • ICloud email is not working in Safari

    Consistently getting popup message:
"Cannot load Inbox". Messages cannot be dispalyed at thei time."
This is happening for a couple of hours.
APPLE, let's get this fixed. It is a problem with iCloud or Safari, not sure which. No longer able to reset cache in Safari so that can't work.
    Anybody else having same problem?

Roger, I dont think its as simple as that. I migrated from MobileMe months ago when Lion first came out. I am on Lion 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro, an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S with the latest version of iOS5, they are all setup for iCloud not MobileMe, and iCloud email has not been working for two days on any of these devices. All my other iCloud services work just fine. Mail settings show the iCloud incoming server as p01-imap.mail.me.com and is not editable. So it may be related to MobileMe migrators, but it still seems that the problem is server side?
I specifically aimed my last post at people who had migrated on a pre-Lion Mac. The fact that jeffreyfromwa was attempting to connect with the MobileMe server setting is a strong indication that he fell into this class and that this was a probable cause.
People like yourself with Lion are in a different boat (he may find himself in it when he amends his server settings): there have been numerous complaints along these lines, though it's not applicable globally. It may well be a server problem in which case there's not much you can do except wait.
People who don't post their system (that's everyone in this thread except you) make it difficult to answer since the behaviour on Lion is different from earlier systems, and the problem specific to earlier systems needs to be addressed first.

  • New iCloud email account not working - duplicate/ambiguous directory match error

I set myself up a new iCloud account this morning once I got iOS 5 loaded on my iPhone 3GS. I was able to create a new @me.com email address, but I think I might have stepped on someone else's existing address as when I send it email, I get a rejection immediately with "duplicate/ambiguous directory entry". iCloud email doesn't work on iCloud.com, and iCloud mail account on the iPhone tells me the user or password is incorrect.
Other than that, iOS 5 is working great so far!

Same symptoms - let's look at the "cause". I was digging in my iPhone settings and although I did everything as prompted in the iCloud setup here is what has actually happened under the hood.
First - What iCloud guided me to do.
•I had a @mac Apple ID I decided to use it for iCloud
•iCloud said I neeeded a new @me address to use mail and iMessaging and asked me to set one up
•I set up a new @me email address
    Sencond - The Results
•I can receive email at my new @me address (expected)
•I can login to iCloud online with my old Apple ID (expected)
•I can not send outgoing mail - error on password (unexpected)
Third - Under the Hood (Settings that are a little odd)
On my iPhone, under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, etc -> iCloud -> Account,
At the very bottom under "Advanced" is the email info, now this should be the new active @me address but its NOT! It's my old AppleID with the @mac address - which of course no one can use for "real email" anymore.
iCloud on my phone is attempting to use my @mac address for outgoing messages!!!! ARGH!
WORSE is you can not edit this! You can click and see details, change the "name" but you can not change the address!
I think this might be the issue for all of us on this thread - check it out and see. If so it's something we will def. have to have a fix from apple for. :-( That or perhaps delete your iCloud account, your existing Apple ID and get a new @me Apple ID that will work for email as well. (PITA!) I hope we get a fix from Apple.

  • Erec - leaving action deleted internal candidate email address not working

    Good morning
    We have the following situation:
    1. A person was made a leaver in HR with future leaving date.
    2. Decision was made that the person could actually stay so the leaving action was deleted in HR.
    3. In erec in SU01 person still showing as role RCF_INT however the email address (produced from IT105 subtype 0010 in HR) was blank and his Alias field populated with his employee number ie: as if he was a leaver still.
    4. I have manually updated the email address in erec for his internal email address - this did not let him apply for an internal job. I then deleted it in IT105 in HR and then recreated it in IT105 - this has gone across to Erec however he still cannot apply and the Alias field is still being populated.
So erec is behaving as if he is part internal and part external! How can I stop the Alias field being populated for him and how can I then get the email address to work?
    many thanks
    Dawn

    Hi Nicole
Thank you. The order of events was as follows:
    a. On 25.01.11 a leaving action was done to start 01.04.11
    b. A decision made in March that the individual could stay however the leaving action was not deleted until 08.04.11
    c. This meant that he became a leaver in erec and due to subsequently deleting the leaving action he has reverted to INT_CAND (which is what we want).
I have managed to get the email address to work by deleting the IT105 subtype 0010 in HR, I then recreated it in HR and it has PFAL'd over to erecruitment so the user is now able to apply for jobs.
However the Alias field is still populated and the user has an additional employee number in erecuitment. Are you able to advise how the alias field can be depopulated?
    Many thanks
    Dawn

  • HT204053 iCloud email address not recognized

Why is My iCloud address not recognized. Only the one Apple transferred from my me.com appears?

Are you talking about the @icloud email address?  If you didn't receive an email from Apple telling you that an @icoud email address has been reserved for you, you may not have access to it yet.  They are still in the process of rolling this out and thay may not have gotten to your account yet.

  • ICloud email address not recognized

I just signed up to iCloud for the first time and entered an @icloud email address. However, when I attempt to add Mail to iCloud in System Preferences, it asks me to create an email address. When I enter the address I already created, it says the address is already taken (probably by me). I'm reluctant to enter a new email address in fear of the confusion of having 2 addresses. What should I do? Thanks. This is happening on both my iMac running 10.7.5, and my MacBook Air running 10.9.

  • HT202304 iCloud email will not work with 3rd part email client

Can anyone help me configure iCloud with thunderbird, or outlook , or airmail, etc?
I am unable to set up any 3rd Party email client with iCloud email. I have looked at the instructions at Apple with no success. I just spent an hour on the phone with support and they tell me this in not their problem. Yet Outlook, thunderbird all say it is their problem so flustering.

These are the settings. Note particularly the requirement for SSL.

  • Autofill for email addresses not working since migration from G4 to MacBook

    Hi,
I was able to move the appropriate Mail folder and preferences files over to my new MacBook. Everything is working great except when I start typing in an email address, Mail doesn't start autofilling the rest of the recipient's address. Does anyone know if there's a file I can move over from my old Mac to get that working again? Is an address book thing (which I didn't migrate over).
    Thanks!
    Bob

I've been having the exact same problem but I've figured it out.
On my previous OSX version (Snow Leopard) I synced my Calendars and Contacts between my work and home computer via Dropbox. What I did was create a symbolic link for these two folders:
    :: <user>/Library/Calendars and
    :: <user>/Library/Application Suppport/Address Book
...linking to folders inside <user>/Dropbox where the data was stored and synced between the two computers.
I have now replaced the symbolic links with the actual data/folders and everything is back to normal with Mail accessing my Contacts.
If you are having a similar issue, make sure to close Mail and Contacts applications and COPY the data back, so that you have a backup of your data if something doesn't work. I turned off iCloud when I did this but not sure if that's neccessary.
    Hope it helps.

  • Autocomplete for email addresses not working

I upgraded two laptops to Mountain Lion today (2010 Macbook Air, 2008 Macbook Pro).  Everything seems to work ok so far, except for the fact that Mail no longer autocompletes my email addresses.  Also, when I send an email, the recipient doesn't show up in the "previous recipients" or the "address panel" windows, and it will not autocomplete even though I just sent an email to that address.
From what I can tell, Mail is not accessing the Contacts app, and the old database of email recipients was deleted during the upgrade.  This is occurring on two separate machines, updated independently.  So right now, Mail is largely useless--I have to either type in an entire email address, or open Contact and click on an email address.  NO WAY!  I installed Sparrow, and it works flawlessly.  Looks like another bug...
Can someone please advise how to force Mail to access my address book (or import my addresses).  Mail is activated for iCloud, as is the address book.
    Any help much appreciated!
    Thanks, Kevin

  • Submit button to an email address not working?

Created a submit button for sending the complete PDF form to an email address, works fine on my computer with the 8.3 Pro version. But when I send it to someone else to use with Adobe reader it won't work, returns an error message. Isn't that the whole idea of a form is to be able to be able to send data? My email address is wron in my profile and it won't let me change it...  [email protected]  Also tried using the FDF and XFDF format as the help suggests, that didn't work either.

The problem may be on the other machine, one of the major problems with using e-mail submission. E-mail submission requires that the user machine be properly configured. With AA9 (or maybe AA8), additional options were setup that did not require MAPI to be active on the machine, but there are apparently some problems. If the data file is being sent, then there is not a Reader Rights issue. It looks like you are using Acroforms since you mentioned FDF and XFDF (Designer uses XML) data formats. It may be that the client is using an earler version of Reader before AR9 and that is an issue.
The safest way to send the data is to a web script on a server, not e-mail. Setting this up is not necessarily that easy, but the safest as mentioned.
I have not answered your problem as such, but given some indication of why you may be having a problem.
