ICloud email Alias has disappeared

Hello Folks,
I have an issue with my iCloud account.
When it was first made available, i signed up with [email protected]
Then i noticed you could create alias's.  So i created [email protected]
Today i go into my iCloud account, and my alias is no longer there. Under the account settings, i have NO alias's listed. it says available, 3 of 3.
However, if i email [email protected] i get the email address sent to me [email protected] account.
So the alias works, but its not showing up. I can accept email with this alias, but can't use it for Facetime for instance.
Please help.

I've actually taken this direct to Apple now. Tim Cooke forwarded my email to a senior engineer to look at. Apparently no one had reported this before and as a result they found an underlying bug, which they made out was quite important. Some lady form Tim Cookes office phoned to thank me. Very odd.
She said they are working on it, but that was a week ago now.
My account with them is currently in troubleshoot mode so I've lost a few services but nothing important. They also gave me a temporary password so I can still use the app sotre. Sadly I still don't have my email alias back.

  • Account Alias has disappeared

    Dear Apple Support team,
My very cherished email alias, which I cannot mention here for security purposes, has disappeared from my iCloud account. I had not been using that iCloud account for a long time. I just logged into that account to find everything intact just as I had left it except that my very important email alias has got deleted.
The system does not allow me to create it again by saying that "this alias is not available". Astonished, upon sending an email to that alias I received a delivery failure notification saying that the alias does not exist in Apple's system. This means that no one else is using it. Then why would it not allow me to create it? How did it get deleted in the first place?
This is urgent and I am not in a position to make an expensive phone call to the US from India. There is also no chat or email support. I really do not know what to do.
Someone from Apple support please help me. Thank you very much.
    VRK

My computer is doing the same thing. I use this feature on every email I send and I have no idea how it went away. I didn't have a problem until MobileMe was launched.
I hope someone has a solution.
I use this feature for my businesses and I can't choose the "from" email to send to my clients so they have no idea who it is coming from.

  • Unable to delete iCloud email alias

I am unable to delete my iCloud email Alias sucessfully.
I have 3 alias at the moment. Two of it is correct and I am going to use it. The third was created wrongly(named spelt wrongly) and I tried to delete it. The moment i click the delete button and re-confirmed at the prompt, nothing happen. If you close the Settings menu and go back to the main interface, the alias itself is not found when u compose an email.
BUT when you sign out of iCloud, the alias you have deleted will return. If you go back to the menu right after deleting the alias earlier on, there will be an error which always appears when i repeat it(report sent to apple everytime) stating internal inconsistency error or something like that.
Now if you untick the box for "send and receieve.." for that particular alias, yes the alias itself will disppear from the list of aliases when i compose a new mail.
BUT NOW there's another bug which comes with this - when i navigate to my iPhone's mail and compose a new mail(through iCloud, i had it enabled on my phone), the alias which i have deactivated just now still REMAINS and in fact i can even send email from it! So much for deactivation.
I find it ridiculous to pay for support through Express Lane Support for this which does not belong to me(not like its a phone, duh), so i hope apple is actually looking at this and find a fix for it.
And yes, i want my deleted alias to finally be deleted.
PS: Im using Windows 7. Issue occur on both Firefox and IE

I filed a bug report weeks ago with Apple about this issue with the iCloud Mail app crashing when one tries to delete an email alias. Apple has yesterday closed the ticket, telling me that the issue is not a bug but rather a "support" issue.
In the interest of moving toward a solution for all those affected by the issue, I hope that someone who has access to free Express Lane support will take the time to see what support will do about the problem. Free Express Lane support is available to anyone who has purchased Apple hardware in the last 90 days or who has current AppleCare coverage. If someone does contact Apple support regarding the issue, please report back here so that the rest of us can know whether support reps are able to fix an affected account.
    Thanks.

Can't locate email content? All of a sudden my email content has disappeared from inside MacMail? The actual emails are coming through but I am unable to view them in the content area! Nothing has been done to have changed this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

The delete icon at the bottom of the email page has disappeared.  How can I find it?

Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).

My email account has disappeared from my iphone4. No longer listed. Tried to set up new email account but now won't accept my user name and or password.

Finally went to the Apple shop where a nice young man explained that I had to use the original password not the recently changed password - case sensitive too - and finally have installed the updated Adobe Flash player with no shaking! Maybe this helps you too. JL

  • ICloud email alias' not receiving email

i have two email alias' brought over from mobileme.com into icloud
they are imported and showing in my icloud email alias' list. however, when i email to those addresses (@me.com) the emails end up in the mailer-daemon world.
    any thoughts?

OK I think I have this figured out here. Looks like a case of operator error on this end in the beginning. Sorry for all the detail below, but if it helps anyone I hope it is worth it.
    1. Per suggestion of Carolyn Samit elsewhere, I went into Apple>System Preferences>Internet and Wireless>iCloud and deselected Mail and Notes. I then repeated the above, but toggled the Mail and Notes back on.
    2. I sent another test message to my iCloud alias address, per the routine set out in the first post above, with a BCC back to me, which immediately appeared in the MacBook Pro Mail Inbox.
    3. I left the Sent message in the Sent folder, and the BCC in the Inbox.
    4. I then signed into iCloud and opened Mail.
    5. Lo and Behold, my test message was in both the Sent folder and the Inbox in iCloud Mail.
Lesson to be learned from the different process I had used earlier -- iCloud mimics exactly what I had previously done on my MacBook Pro (which was not detailed above because it did not seem important at the time). Previously, after sending a test email, I immediately moved the Sent message into a special folder on the MacBook Pro, and also immediately moved the BCC copy in the Inbox into the same special folder in Mac Mail.
iCloud mimic'd these moves, so when I went there in the early stages of this  process (after having already moved two emails into special folders on the laptop), there were no emails to be seen at iCloud.
This last time just now, I left the emails in my Inbox and Sent folders at the laptop, and they WERE in the corresponding folders at iCloud.
Now, to toggle off Mail and Notes in Apple System Preferences and see what happens?
    Good night . .

  • How to convert a new Apple ID into a iCloud email alias?

    Howdy,
Just a few weeks ago, I created a second MobleMe accout for my daugher via my MobleMe family plan. The reason was that her orignal MobleMe email ([email protected]) address seemed a bit childish to her and she wanted a new "more professional" sounding address. At first I tried to create an email alias, but discovered that new alias creation had been stopped due to the looming iCloud launch, so I used one of my unused family plan accounts to create "[email protected]." Took some fooling around to get mail on her macbook to send & receive from both... but it worked and I was once again, the family IT hero!
Okay, now that iCloud has launched, and we are converting over to iCloud I wondered what to do about my daughters two email addresses. I looked around for information about just converting both xxxx & yyyy to iCloud, so my daughter could receive both emails from the same iMac mail account... but I can find nothing about that option on the inter tubes so I figured that option was unsupported.
Next I wondered if email aliases had come back, and they have! Cool, just convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]... but alias, you can't delete an Apple ID and I assume that I won't be able to create [email protected] as an alias as it is it's one Apple ID (otherwise, there would be a really big security hole in iCloud email ;).
What to do? Well, I can think of the following options, in order of what would be most user friendly to my daughter:
    1. Convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]. This would be nice because I could simplify my daughters email set up (just one account, not two). Trouble is, I don't know how to do this and/or it just can't be done.
    2. Create a new alias for [email protected]; [email protected]. Kind of junky as "yyyy" is pretty obvious (if you knew what it was), and [email protected] is already "out there."
    3. Create two accounts on my daughters macbook; one for [email protected] and the other for [email protected]. This ***** because she'd have to logout/login to check mail on both accounts.
So... their must be a simpler way, right Apple? If so, please advise!

  • Signing works with wrong iCloud email alias

    Hi,
I've succesfully created a free StartSSL S/MIME certificate for the email address I want to sign/encrypt, and have succesfully added it (along with its private key) to my iPhone 4S using the iPhone Configuration Utility.  I had to include the two StartCom root certificates and two Intermediate certificates (a Class 1 and a Class 3) from my Mac to make it work.  Here's what I have now:
Settings > Mail, Contacts… > iCloud account > Account > Mail > Advanced > S/MIME: ON; Sign: YES; Encrypt: YES
Under Sign (and Encrypt) > Certificates it displays the email alias I want to encrypt with a tick next to it.  Tapping on this certificate shows that it is Trusted.
Now, if I open Mail and choose Compose, it displays "Encrypted" under "New message", but with the wrong "From" address.  If I change the "From" address to match the address on the certificate, "Encrypted" disappears.
The address the certificate works with is the iCloud login address, which differs a great deal from the alias I created the certificate for.  The same certificate/private key pair works just fine for sending signed emails for that alias from Mail.app on the Mac.  Why won't it work on the iPhone?
Additional info that might be relevant: if I turn off "Encrypt" and just use "Sign", Mail on the iPhone doesn't sign any of the iCloud addresses - it doesn't appear to work at all.
I know that S/MIME is a tricky business on the iPhone, but this problem seems to differ from the other problems I've read about here on the forums.
    Anyone know what to do?
EDIT: I've tried re-booting the iPhone too.  Didn't change anything.

    Hi,
I have recently set up S/MIME on my iPhone and Mac using StartSSL Class1 certificates. I only use IMAP on my iPhone with email aliases so it's a bit different than your setup. My experience is that Mail on iPhone only uses the first email address of the account to sign/encrypt messages, even if the certificate belongs to the second or third alias. In my case I had to make the alias that the certificate belongs to the first to make it work.
You can try to make your alias the default address to see if it helps.
Another note: have you installed the intermediate certificates in your Mac and iPhone or you created a certificate bundle? My understanding is that they should be part of your certificate bundle because otherwise it won't work on other machines (that don't have the intermediate certificates installed). Also I think you need only the intermediate class 1 or class 3 client certificate but not both. If you want to make it in an easy way you can use the "Create PKCS#12 (PFX) File" under "Tool Box" in the StartSSL control panel to generate the bundle with all the necessary additional certificates.

  • How can I use an iCloud email alias in Mailbox or other third party mail apps?

I have an iCloud email address, but prefer to use one of my aliases for sending messages. Third-party email clients like Mailbox don't seem to recognize these aliases. Has anyone had luck here, or are iCloud aliases Mail.app-only animals?

Mailboxes will handle aliases in Gmail, but not iCloud (no idea if that is in the works or not). Boxer makes no mention of aliases specifically for iCloud, but does support them in general.  I prefer Mailbox, but Boxer is a decent app.

  • How to change the name or have no name for an iCloud email alias

I had MobileMe on the iPhone with alias email addresses and I liked how it didn’t attach any “name” to an alias. For example, I had MainUserName, then for aliases I would have [email protected], [email protected], etc. When I sent an email from my iPhone using one of the aliases as the "from" no name would be associated with the alias email address. If it was the MainUserName then it would associate it, e.g. Main User <[email protected]> will show up on the "From" field when I sent an email. But with iCloud on the iPhone (and iPad), it’s Main User <[email protected]>, Main User <[email protected], etc., which I don’t want.  If anything it should be Alias 1 <[email protected]> or Alias 2 <[email protected]>.  Anyway, I don't want any name associated with the aliases, so when I send an email it will simply say [email protected] or just [email protected] with no name association.
It works differently if I access iCloud through a web browser.  If I send an email via iCloud on the web, I can customize and have a different name with each alias, e.g., Tom <[email protected]> or Harry <[email protected]>  And the customization carries over to the Mail app on my Mac.  That would be ideal if the customization carried over to the iPhone and iPad, but I'd be happy if there was no name association with alias email addresses.  Hopefully, there's a solution to the iPhone/iPad situation with iCloud as I don't want the name linked with the main iCloud email address linked with all the different email aliases I have.

Can I change the name associated with an ipod on my Mac?
Select the iPod in the iTunes source list, click on its name, and type a new name.
And can there be more than one iPod on one computer?
    Yes.

  • The quick link button to my email account has disappeared from my Firefox home page. How can I get it back again ?

When I used to click onto the Internet Firefox icon to get onto my home page, the top of the screen gave me a click on-link direct to my hotmail email a/c. For some reason that has disappeared. I can still do it via the Internet Explorer icon, but the settings are different, and the system does not accept text as readily as it did when using the Firefox. Could someone please tell me how to (in words a techno phobe can understand and follow) insert this link back onto the Firefox home page. Many thanks...

Perhaps the button was on your Bookmarks Toolbar. Can you make sure that bar is displayed? You can turn toolbars on and off using any of these methods to display a toolbar list:
    * right-click a blank area of the tab bar, or the "+" button on the tab bar
    * "3-bar" menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
    * tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar temporarily, then View > Toolbars
    Does that help?
Also, you can access your Hotmail account using http://hotmail.com/ and Microsoft will redirect you to the secure login page.

  • HT4897 I just acquired a .icloud email alias but it bouces emails

The .icloud email address that I acquired when I moved from mobileme shows up fine on my email preference page.  However emails sent to that address are returned with a fatal error.  What has gone wrong here?

@icloud.com addresses are being rolled out over an unspecified period: you will get one without having to do anything, and it will be additional to your @me.com address - your account presumably hasn't been updated yet. You will get a notification email when your account is updated. Please see this page:
