ICloud email and Apple ID question

I have an odd problem, heres the background:
I signed up with an iChat account a year ago when I got my new Mac Pro and chose a new sign in with an @mac extension. Then I changed my apple ID to MYNAME@MACdotCOM to reflect my iChat and to streamline all of my Apple ID's, etc. This ID however was never tied into an email account.
Now that iOS 5 and icloud is finally out, I enabled email sync in iCloud and was prompted to creat a new @me username. So I did and used the same name that is on my Apple ID, the only difference is this new address has @me insted of @mac.
iCloud set up on my mac like a breeze and Mail sees the new address and syncs up great.
Now I go to my iPhone 4 with the new iOS 5 and enable all the cloud stuff under my Apple ID and everything syncs great. I go into mail on my iPhone and compose a new message and heres the problem: The "from" address in the new message is showing my Apple ID MYNAME@mac not the one created for iCloud (MYNAME@ME) AND when I try to send the message I get this "The sender address MYNAME@MAC was rejected by the server" . But when using Mail on my Mac, it sends and receives great and doesn't try to use the @mac address, only the @me... same when logged into iCloud.
Now I know that my @mac was never a functional email address, but in iPhone mail it doesn't give me the option to use the @me address, only the @mac one. I assume that Apple is combining the two extensions since I can log onto the Apple site with the ID "MYNAME@ME" in stead of @mac and it logs me in just fine.
My question is how can I get Apple to activate or allow the @mac for email or get iphone mail mail to stop trying to use the @mac? I assume someone at Apple would be able to make that happen via email or phone. Hmmm.
I tried myself to change my Apple ID to @ME but the "edit" option is not available, Apple won't let me change it. I tried both through iTunes and the Apple website.
thanks for reading and any help on the matter is greatly appreciated!

An email alias will act just like you iCloud email address, and it will receive incoming mail at the same inbox. It will be added to your existing iCloud account/ID so you can continue to sign into your account with your current ID.
Your iCloud ID is separate from your iTunes account ID.  You can keep your current iTunes ID and add a second ID for your new iCloud account; they do not need to be the same.  If you want to migrate your data to a new iCloud account, on your device go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account (this only deletes the account from the device, not from iCloud).  When prompted choos Keep on My [iDevice].  Then set up a new account with a different ID and turn your iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted, choos Merge to upload the data to your new account.

My apple id is diffrent then my icloud login and i reset my phone i remeber the password just not the icloud email how do i recover it ?

    Hey Duramax00,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like the address Activation Lock is asking for may be your @icloud.com email alias. If you do not remember the @icloud.com alias you can check your preferences at icloud.com:

  • Consolidating icloud email and apple id

I am tearing my hair out!
I changed my personal email this weekend and carefully changed everything I had linked to the email to ensure no problems.
However, I have an apple ID and  then the Icloud is linked to my old email address.
Now the problem is I cannot change the old email address and the new passowrd for my new email address is being thrown back at me as wrong passwrd.
I have tried reseting  the passowrd to both accounts but its all a problem.
How do I consolidate my Icloud ( old email address) to my new  ATT email address? Do I need to try and delete the icloud and start from scracth but of course it asks for a passowrd which is not matching and I cannot reset it for some reason.Arggghhhhhhhh!

Is this happening on an iOS device?  if so, and if the old iCloud ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • HT4865 iCloud email and Apple ID email are not the same...help?!

My iCloud account is my old email address I used to have from school, and my apple ID is my current gmail address.  How can I change my iCloud email so that it's the same as my gmail?!

What exactly do you mean, iCloud uses your Apple ID. Are you saying you have one ID for iCloud and another for iTunes.

  • ICloud password and Apple ID Questions.

This is a problem I am having and have been on the phone with tech support to no avail. I forget I had another .mac,.me.icloud email address until I received an email to it this past week. Tried everything to get the password but I never received an email back when requested(so have no clue where it is going) and when I put in my DOB it doesn't recognize it so can't go any further.
Apple told me pretty much a lost cause. So now I am playing around with my other account and when I went to check the info I get the same message. Doesn't recognize my DOB do not receive an email response as I have no clue where it is going. Same with my Apple ID.
I know way back when this was part of a mobileme family pack but that was with my ex who is no longer in the picture. Does anyone have a clue on what I can do to get the info. I looked under the KeyChain but nothing there as well.
Hopefully this will at least make some sense.
Thanks in advance for any help/guidance.

Contact Apple through their support site - they may be able to help you. If not, you'll have to abandon that account and create a new one. I'd advise you to write your security answers down next time.
    Matt

  • I just created an iCloud email and I want to use that email for my iTunes account as well. I need help suiting the old apple I'd because I do not remember anything associated with that email and I don't know the security questions

I just created an iCloud email and I want to use that email for my iTunes account as well. I need help switching the old apple ID because I do not remember anything associated with that email and I don't know the security questions or the login for that old email.

You cannot do that.  The AppleID you used to create the iCloud account is an active primary email address.  The email address you created with the iCloud account is also an active primary email address (all Apple domain email address automatically become AppleIDs as well).  You cannot replace the primary email address on one active AppleID with the primary email address on another, active AppleID.
You can use your iCloud email/AppleID with iTunes, but it will be a separate account, so all your previous purchases remain tied to the other AppleID you have.
I don't understand your statement that you could not remeber your old AppleID password, as you would have had to use it to create the iCloud account in the first place (the first step of creating the iCloud account required you to login with your existing AppleID and password)?

  • I no longer have access to my icloud email and don't know the answers to my security questions. Does anyone know how to work around this to reset my icloud ID without losing my info? I haven't backed up in a year because of this.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

    Hello there Dhary9,
It sounds like you are unable to reset your password and are unable to answer the security questions. You can attempt resetting the security questions with the following info:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

  • Is there another way of getting my icloud emails. Apple says there is an issue and I am desperate to get my mail, is there another way of getting my icloud emails. Apple says there is an issue and I am desperate to get my mail

    Hi,
Is there another way of getting my icloud emails. Apple states on the service status page there is an issue and I am desperate to get my mail.
    thank you
    Dave

Seriously? Not really sure what else to say. Doesn't Apple have any user experience experts? Or are they all 22 year old programmers who never, ever, put down their company-supplied iPhones?

You can change your email address and password at

But that requires, that you know your current password, or have set up an rescue email, or know the answers to the security questions.  (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312)

If you've forgotten your Apple ID, go to iforgot.apple.com

How to reset your Apple ID security questions.
Go to appleid.apple.com, click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email)
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'.  This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.
