ICloud Email Issue: Messages sent to same account

Issue:
When sending an email from my (personal-email)@me.com to the same account, with an attachment, email doesn't show up on any devices, even Apple mobile devices.
Troubleshooting Attempts:
- Sending emails on iMac machine with attachments from (personal-email)@me.com to (personal-email)@me.com ISSUE PERSISTS
- Sending emails on MacPro machine with attachments from (personal-email)@me.com to (personal-email)@me.com ISSUE PERSISTS
- Sending emails on Mabook Pro machine with attachments from (personal-email)@me.com to (personal-email)@me.com ISSUE PERSISTS
- Sending emails on iPhone 4 device with attachments from (personal-email)@me.com to (personal-email)@me.com NO ISSUE (All Devices Recieve)
- Sending emails on iPad 2 device with attachments from (personal-email)@me.com to (personal-email)@me.com NO ISSUE (All Devices Recieve)
- Sending emails on iCloud.com with attachments from (personal-email)@me.com to (personal-email)@me.com ISSUE PERSISTS
- Re-setup (personal-email)@me.com account on all devices ISSUE PERSISTS
- Turned Push on/off on all devices ISSUE PERSISTS
Additional Observations:
- All devices are able to send emails without attachments to the same email without any issue.
- When an attachment is added, the message can only be found in the 'Sent Messages' folder on each device (Besides those sent from my mobile platforms)
- All devices are able to send emails without attachments to the same email without any issue.
Devices and Versions (In order of Frequency of Use):
iMac Quad-Core i7 - OS X Lion (Up-to-Date)
MacPro 12-Core - OS X Lion (Up-to-Date)
Macbook Pro 15" i7 - OS X Lion (Up-to-Date)
iPhone 4 - iOS 5.1.1 (Up-to-Date)
iPad 2 - iOS 5.1.1 (Up-to-Date)
Possible Issue Defining Variables:
(Note: All other devices where up-to-date before the following occured
- I have recently moved my mobile me account to iCloud (On the last day possible to do so)
- After moving to iCloud, I immidiately updated my Snow Leopard iMac to the most up to date OS X Lion.
Hopefully this details out all the things you may need to help me out. I can't go into an Apple story due to the amount of different devices I have.
Be advised, this issue isn't loyalty deterring, as much as it is annoying. This used to work before moving to iCloud, if it can be fixed, that would be awesome.
Thanks,
VV

  • FOUND SOLUTION TO EMAIL ISSUE - "message not downloaded from server"

It took me 4 days to figure it out but there is a solution to the problem "the messsage has not been downloaded from server" and "the message has no content".
I do not have to set up "push" accounts from yahoo or gmail and it works with my corporate email.
Apple can reach me at <Message was edited by: Host> to discuss this issue.

I'm not a computer technician, and if you were to give me a few days looking at the problem, i'm sure I or anyone else could provide a solution. I'm not too bothered about the message appearing 50% of the time as i'm usually within easy reach of a Laptop or PC or can find another method to get access to my email.
So i'm not pi**ed off that you have found a solution. I'm just trying to obtain information for a post that says "FOUND SOLUTION TO EMAIL ISSUE - "message not downloaded from server" in the Apple HELP FORUMS...

I recently switched over from Apple to Sony and I would like to know how I can change my settings so that all my iCloud emails are forwarded to my Gmail account?

Log in on iCloud.com and go to Mail. In Mail, at the bottom left you should see a gear icon. Click on it, go to Settings (or Preferences, I'm doing this from memory), and in there you'll find an option to forward your iCloud email to another service.

  • How to make Reply (all), to an email I sent, to be sent from same account as the original email?

I have a number of Email accounts configured, all of them as pop mail. And, they are all configured to use the same Inbox and Send folders, Thrashbin etc. They are all correctly configured with the appropriate Sender and Reply to-address.
My problem, has started occuring, I think, after I exchanged my default and some of my email accounts.
Sometimes I need to reuse a message that I have sent, to fill in some details, or whatever.
Typically I open an Email from the Sent folder, remove my own email from the distribution list, add some more text
and resend the message to the original recipients.
What I want, is for the new message to be sent from the same sender address as the original email.
But, since I changed my default account, the new email created by opening an email from the Sent folder
and clicking Reply or Reply all, now gets a different Sender and Reply to - address.
And this means I have to remember to edit the Sender address.
I seem to get this problem regardless of whether I do Forward, Reply or Reply all, to create a new Email from the old one I sent.
This is really a nuisance since I keep forgetting to do this, and it takes extra time and effort for something that used to be quick and easy.
How can I make Thunderbird include the correct Sender address, (the one that I sent the original email from) when doing this, without my having to change it manually each time?
The address Thunderbird chooses is not even my Default email address, but the first account that appears after the Default account in the list of accounts, at least that is what it seems like. I have tried to find a way to reorder the accounts, but I have not been able to find that.
Is there a way to reorder the accounts?
Would it help if I recreated the accounts so the one I use as default becomes the oldest one? But that, would help only for the default account, and the other accounts would still have the same problem, I assume?
I could live with this, since the default account is the default account for a reason.
Would it help, if I separated the different accounts, into different folders?
Or is there a setting to configure how Thunderbird does this, or even have it ask every time I create a new email from the Sent folder?
Each one of the accounts, is configured with the appropriate smtp server settings, (probably irrelevant for this problem).

Good suggestion. It gets rid of the "mailto:", but I have to remove the space after dragging the clip into the user name box. Interestingly, I can open the clip with TextWrangler, remove the space, and save it as a clip. However, the clip, as a clip, still has the space! When I open it again in TextWrangler, the space is gone, but still appears when I drag the clip or open it in the Finder. So not quite a cigar. But definitely useful.
So the question remains, where is a clip's data stored? Is it editable? If so, how? If not, why not?

  • Email issue with sent messages in Tiger

I set up iCloud email on our old laptop running Tiger. In Mail it sends and receives but does not save sent messages to the Sent folder and the messages aren't recorded in iCloud. In Entourage, I can receive but not send email. Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello, just checking, did you set it up as IMAP & the rest like this...
MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT - DO NOT TRY TO ALTER YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
        •    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 993
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
        •    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 587
        •    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • HT2589 How can I Change my apple id (email adress) and keep the same account? Or do I have to create a whole new account?

My email address was hacked and I can no longer use it. How can I change the email address with our loosing everything on my iTunes account?

Sign out of your Apple ID on all your services & devices, especially iCloud on your iPhone.
    Go to id.apple.com.
Log in with your Apple ID & password.
Then, edit your primary email address to the new email account.
Once you do so, a verification email will be sent to the new email address.
Go to your email account and verify the new primary email address.

  • I have an email address that was used on one Appleid account and I have now created a separate Appleid for another device. Is it possible to transfer that icloud email address to the new Appleid account?

I had multiple iPhones and iPads associated with the same apple account and I have now created a separate account for two of them.  The question that I have is whether there is a way to transfer the icloud email address to the new account?

Welcome to the Apple community 1960gmd.
Once an iCloud address is used for an Apple ID, you can't use it for any other.
Why would you want to use another Apple ID if you already have the address you want to use in another.
If you want your email on all devices but use a different ID for iCloud add it as a secondary account at settings > mail, contacts, calendars and just enable mail.

  • My iCloud email won't sent from OS X Mail

    Hey all,
I'm using the latest version of Mountain Lion. I recently tried to see if I could switch from using my MobileMe email address in OS X Mail to using my iCloud email address. iCloud seems to work on my iPad and iPhone... but everytime I try from Mail, the messages won't send. I click send and they just come back to me after a while, asking me to pick a different outbound server. Interestingly, the messages WILL send when I try to send via my MobileMe account.
Should I be using some sort of different server setting for the iCloud email?
    Thanks,
    Nick

No joy - I am still getting a warning sign popping up saying "Cannot send message using the server iCloud (iCloud)", along with a list of alternate SMTP servers to try, based on the other accounts my Mail program is connected to.
I wonder what the trouble is! Again, sending from my mobileme account/alias works fine.
    Nick
There is no MobileMe anymore, you may have labelling problems.
In iCloud control panel deactivate Mail, then if you are still signed into Mobile Me, sign out.
Reactivate Mail in the control panel.

  • ICloud email issues

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and am getting started with iCloud but I'm a bit confused. when I set up iCloud email I was given a @me.com address and not an @icloud.com address. Does anyone know why? Also could I make my icloud email address my primary email and my AppleID? I much prefer icloud webmail to gmail so it would be nice if I could use the address for everything.
    Thanks.

A friend of mine has the same issue but her country Greece is not supported by Express Lane. I wonder if this is connected to recent clock changes (summer time).

  • When I loaded the security update my iCloud email stopped getting sent to Apple mail...only to iCloud on the web.  What to do?

When I installed the security update my iMac sent all my iCloud emails to iCloud mail on the web and not to Apple Mail where my main email address is and where I like to work.  What to do?

Quit Mail, the run Repair Disk Permissions at least 2x in Disk Utility. Restart the computer in Safe Mode. Then restart normally and test, if the problem persists please post back.

  • Can I sign up for an @me email if I already have an @icloud email? Is it the same thing? Also, can I

receive all my icloud emails through my gmail account? As in, if I give someone my @icloud email..will I receive it in my gmail inbox? Thanks for the help!!

No. There no longer is @me.com email accounts, only @icloud.com accounts. Mail addressed to your iCloud.com address do not get delivered to your GMail account unless you set up a Mail Forward to the GMail account.

  • HT4436 when i try to set up icloud, i am asked to give and email account, which i do; icloud then says that an email has been sent to that account and that i should consult this email to continue. The email never arrives in the in-box of the account i gav

when i try to set up icloud on my iphone 4S, i am asked for an email account, which i supply. icloud then saya to check my email for further instructions. The problem is, the email never arrives in my mailbox. Now my phone says "check email" and lists the proper email account that i supplied while trying to set up icloud, however, it is all 'grayed' out and no touch screen action can be performed.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether.

  • HT4519 Default email is set but emails are being sent from another account

I have set up my email accounts on my iPad and set the default email as my home email. I have just noticed that all emails sent from my iPad are being sent from a different account.  What am I missing?

Edit the address book entry to uncheck use display names. If you want to disable it completely Tools menu (Alt+T) > options > advanced >reading and Display and turn off the use of display names.
You never had this issue with Outlook.... The question is what did the recipient see, not what did you see. If they did not use Outlook there is a good chance they saw what was in their address book. You can address your mail as sent by "Very Important person from Very Profitable Company" If I add you to my address book as "The Goblin" I see "The Goblin" This is because Thunderbird places control in the hands of the user. Outlook does not. Note the Multiple ways to view a message body on the view menu.
I get your frustration, but your no longer using Outlook. Outlook is an excellent exchange client. I find it actually does email badly.

  • Itunes email and iCloud email issues

    Good afternoon all,
When I initially created an Apple account back in 2004 I signed up for a then .mac email address and now use that same .mac address with all of my iCloud services. Not thinking I created an AppleID to use with iTunes using a personal email address (something similar to [email protected] for example).
The dilemma that I have is that I have to use the [email protected] email address to sign into my iTunes account to purchase anything from the iTunes store and to view all of my past purchases from 2004 to present; yet all of my iCloud services (keychain, photos, etc...) are setup using my .mac email address.
When I log into my [email protected] AppleID (the account that has all of my iTunes purchases) I try to change the email address to my .mac address and it will not allow me bc it says it is an apple owned domain.
Is there any way possible for me to merge these two accounts so that I can have one singular email sign in for all of my iTunes and iCloud services?
    Thanks
    -Kris

Currently there is no way to merge Apple IDs. Send a request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html.

  • Icloud email address associated with wrong itunes account

My wife and I used to share the same itunes account under her name. As a test, I set up myname@icloud under her account, never used it.
Now we have separate itunes accounts and would really like to use icloud for mail, but there appears to be no way to delete the email address from her itunes account and then set it up it with mine. I know I can use aliases, but that doesn't seem very elegant.
Anyone know how to do this, or am I stuck?

You can't move an @icloud.com address to another account.  What you can do is add her account to your device as a secondary account by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, sign in with her ID and turn Mail on in this account.  This will allow you to continue to access the existing address on your device.  The only limitation of this is that email in this account will only be fetched periodically as push mail is not supported in secondary accounts.
