ICloud email needs a lot of work

Does anyone know if/where Apple has a place to report bugs with iCloud.com apps?
The email app is pretty unstable.  Most of the time, searching doesn't work at all.  It just spins for a while and then tells me that it can't complete it right now.  Most of the time, composing new messages doesn't allow me to attach anything to the message.  Just throws up a weird error.  Sometimes attachments work just fine.  There's almost no rhyme or reason to it.
And finally, the iCloud.com mail app itself is incredibly slow.
Definitely a lot of work needed.  Earthlink's email client was better 5 years ago.

i think things will be better tomorrow. Tomorrow is IP6 Day.

  • Calendar on iPhone needs a lot of work

I just needed a place to vent/recommend changes for the Calendar app on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
I used to have a Palm, but now with my cool iPod Touch, I'd like to organize my life with it. So far, though, the Calendar program is proving less than useful.
I really like the iCal desktop app, but what I don't understand is why the iPhone version is so totally stripped down to the point of obsolescence. These are my issues that I'd love to see updated:
    -Calendar colors are not respected:
In iCal, my work events show up in red, classes I teach in blue, things my girlfirend does in pink, and so forth. When I sync to my Touch, work becomes green, teaching changes to red, and my girlfriend - orange - which is also the color of another category. I know the Touch can handle a wide spectrum of colors, so why limit/change my color options? It's simply confusing.
    -No week view:
Of the various calendar views - day, week, month - I find week the most useful to look at, but that's the very one that's not included on the Touch. Even if it means turning the Touch on its side, I would greatly appreciate it.
    -Very limited event editing:
The whole idea behind having a portable calendar is so you can check your availability and add new events, so I'd love to have the exact same features available on the Touch as there are on iCal. On the touch, I can set up recurring events, but am limited to weekly, daily, etc. (i.e. no every Monday/Wednesday). I can't create new calendars, set colors, or add events to specific calendar groups.
So what I'm trying to say is the Calendar app on the iPod Touch is useless. I'm not saying it should be more like the Palm app (which was wonderful, by the way), but all I ask is for the full, expected functionality of a portable calendar app.

  • Mail Spell Check Needs a LOT of Work

How do we get Apple to make major improvements to their MAIL Program?  I love the program and it's ease of use, but the SPELL CHECK adn GRAMMAR CHECK leaves a lot to be disired.  I will NEVER say that Outlook is a better mail program BUT it does a superior job in handling these two functions.
This has cause me infinite problems as I always do NOT have time to go back and FIX what Apple has changed.
Presently I use my MacBookPro and my Mac Pro, and both have the problem.  I just upgradedto Mountain Lion on my Notebook and it is no better.

  • This Site Needs A Lot Of Work

I have just spent over an hour trying to post a question to the support forum and have been unable to do so. I get an error telling me to correct the highlighted errors and try again. THERE ARE NO HIGHLIGHTED ERRORS. It is just a simple post with a subject line and body text. The error message doesn't tell me anything helpfull and I was unable to post my problem.
I've noticed a couple of other annoying things about this site too. For one thing, I log onto the HP web site and when I go to the forums I find that I have to log on again. What's with that?
Then I have to really look around to find out how to post a question. I get the feeling that you would rather people didn't post questions to the forum because you've done a good job of hiding the links to post a question. A user really has to search for it. And then you wind up getting an error and can't post anyway.
So guess I'm going to have to call HP supprt rather than trying to solve my problem through your web site.
This site has a TERRIBLE user interface.

    Hello,
If you are having technical troubles I suggest using another browser like Chrome or Firefox otherwise you can find tips for navigating the community here.

  • Apple Maps Needs a LOT of work

.... According to the BBC ....
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19659736
    ... I didn't know I had moved house 3 streets away.....
I really don't think I will be using this app .....  Not , at least , it has been given a considerable facelift ....

Yes, I myself have done it.
It's tricky and seems to be easier on Mac than PC.

  • Change iCloud email in iMessage/Facetime

A few weeks ago I changed my iCloud email address and I haven't found any trouble changing it everywhere EXCEPT for iMessage/Facetime..
When I go on my iPhone to Messages > Send & Receive > Use your Apple ID for iMessage
I keep getting the pop up that wants me to enter the Apple ID password for my PREVIOUS email address.
    - If I give in the old password to my new icloud email address it DOESN'T WORK
    - If I give in the new password to my new icloud email address it DOESN'T WORK
    - If I keep giving in the wrong password (for 5-6 times) it just says I need to reset the password to THAT OLD ICLOUD EMAIL ADDRESS.
I'm getting tired of this, why can't I just change the email address? I mean I see the box to change it but then EVERY SINGLE TIME the pop up goes over it and asks for that password...
Help please? This is really frustrating!

    Hi RaniDHulster,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Since both the Messages and Facetime apps are tied to your Apple ID, the first step is to sign out of these two apps and update the Apple ID information.  Then you should be able to turn the apps on again in Settings and enter the corrected Apple ID.  The links below will explain:
Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
Before you change your Apple ID:
Sign out of all Apple features and services that you use with your current Apple ID.
Make sure that the email address you want to use for your Apple ID meets these conditions:
The email address is one that you use regularly, because it will be the primary email address for your Apple ID.
The email address is not associated with any other Apple ID.
The email address is not an iCloud email address, which is already an Apple ID. iCloud email addresses end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.
Click on My Apple ID to access and edit your account.
The link below will help you get in contact with our Apple ID account security team if you need more help:

  • HT4864 How can I change my iCloud email to my AppleID email they are not the same

How can I change my iCloud email to my AppleID email?  They are not the same and somehow were switched by my teenage daughter.  I can access the account and change anything except my iCloud eMail account.

    Hi itsjeffb,
If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like your daughter may have set up an alias account under iCloud. Your AppleID email address may or may not be the same as you iCloud email address, depending on how it was set up. The following articles provide more information about iCloud email addresses and how aliases work under iCloud:

when you open the app store scroll down to the bottom it will display the apple id currently in use, change it to your normal apple id email

  • My iCloud email does not work. Getting error message that i need to uncheck SSL . This does not work. Help

icloud Email does not work. When running Connection doctor it indicates I must check or uncheck SSL. This has not fixed the problem

iCloud email addresses (@mac.com, @me.com and @icloud.com) require SSL. Is your address an iCloud address or someone else?

  • I have an iPad mini in my classroom and a personal iPad at home; I am trying to set up folders on my personal iPad and also add my personal icloud account to the icloud email management on my pc at school; how do I do these tasks at work or home

How do I set up folders on icloud from my personal ipad and add my personal icloud e-mail to the icloud management on my pc at work to manage email for work and personal iPads

I have 5 different e-mail accounts I access from school now
I have folders to store emails from gmail and for icloud emails accessed from my pc
I need to use folders when accessing emails from my ipad
I have folders when I access and use gmail from my ipad
I also don't know why you need to know why, just what

  • How do I log out of icloud on my iphone when my password or email recovery address doesn't work?

I switched my email address to a more current gmail one (which works as my apple id) from an old hotmail one. It switched my apple id over, but it didn't switch my icloud email over. Now the hotmail account is gone, the old password doesn't work, and I can't log in to icloud with my current gmail one. I can't delete it becuase the password doesn't work. I can't even wipe my phone out and start with whole new accounts because I can't turn off 'find my iphone'!

What it says is that Photostream photos will be deleted on your phone & any documents stored on the phone will be deleted...that's the way it works. If you want these photos, you need to save them first. For contacts, calendars, etc., you'll be asked if you want to keep on the phone or not.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • ICloud email is not working in Safari

    Consistently getting popup message:
"Cannot load Inbox". Messages cannot be dispalyed at thei time."
This is happening for a couple of hours.
APPLE, let's get this fixed. It is a problem with iCloud or Safari, not sure which. No longer able to reset cache in Safari so that can't work.
    Anybody else having same problem?

Roger, I dont think its as simple as that. I migrated from MobileMe months ago when Lion first came out. I am on Lion 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro, an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S with the latest version of iOS5, they are all setup for iCloud not MobileMe, and iCloud email has not been working for two days on any of these devices. All my other iCloud services work just fine. Mail settings show the iCloud incoming server as p01-imap.mail.me.com and is not editable. So it may be related to MobileMe migrators, but it still seems that the problem is server side?
I specifically aimed my last post at people who had migrated on a pre-Lion Mac. The fact that jeffreyfromwa was attempting to connect with the MobileMe server setting is a strong indication that he fell into this class and that this was a probable cause.
People like yourself with Lion are in a different boat (he may find himself in it when he amends his server settings): there have been numerous complaints along these lines, though it's not applicable globally. It may well be a server problem in which case there's not much you can do except wait.
People who don't post their system (that's everyone in this thread except you) make it difficult to answer since the behaviour on Lion is different from earlier systems, and the problem specific to earlier systems needs to be addressed first.

  • Trying to use iCloud email on my pc - do I need to buy Outlook Express?

I have an iPad and iPhone, but have kept my PC.  Converting to iCloud for my mail.  Do I need to buy Outlook Express to use iCloud email on my PC?

iCloud email will work with almost any email client.  Use whatever email client you have on your computer now and set up your account using these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • Have 1 POP3 email account I want to work like IMAP email in icloud. Apple suggested created a new Apple ID just for POP3. Has anyone tried this to see if it works and will delete across multiple devises?

Have 1 POP3 email account I want to work like IMAP email in icloud (keeps my iMac, iPhone, ipad mail in sync). Apple suggested trying creating a new Apple ID just for that POP3 email. Has anyone tried this to see if it works and will delete/update across multiple devises? Would mean keeping up with two Apple ID accounts but only other alternative I know of is paying for monthly service for Microsoft 365.

would I be able to "upload" (not sure how else to say it) my existing folders and subfolders containing all my emails so that they are all available on my new IMAP service, while still being available on my Mac?
Not easily, no. There's no direct transfer option between POP and IMAP, especially across email providers. The best you could do would be to forward all of your emails to your new address, although it's not clear that you need to - dropping your sbcglobal.net account doesn't instantly render all your existing mail void - it'll still be in your Mail client, you can still read it, search it, etc., it just won't be on your provider's server.
I have toyed with the idea of getting a MobileMe account. Would that solve my issue/question above?
MobileMe would be viable, especially if you're interested in synching your various iOS devices. It's not free, of course, unlike Yahoo and Gmail, although you've already discounted them...
I have also toyed with purchasing my own URL, but it's hard to tell from the sites (1and1, Namecheap, etc.) if they come with IMAP email accounts included.
Some registrars offer email hosting bundles with a domain registration. This could be a good way to go. GoDaddy, for example, have a email hosting option for domains you register with them.
