ICloud/Find My iPhone lock

Hi,
I've read a few threads, but just want to be sure.
I recently sold my phone, and have already restored it to factory settings. When you turn it on, it says "hello" in multiple languages. However, I never turned off Find My iPhone before doing the restore. Do I need to set it up again, switch Find My iPhone off, and then reset it again? Also, is there a way of making sure that iCloud isn't still linked? I did try the Find My iPhone feature, and it found the phone that I'm actually keeping.
Thanks for your help!

Sounds good, thank you. I did go through the setup process as a new device, and the phone is now on 7.1.2. When I go to Settings>iCloud, it gives me the option of entering any Apple ID and password. So this should be good to go then, right? iCloud shouldn't be locked, and Find My iPhone shouldn't even be an option without iCloud, right?
Thanks!

i want my ipod back or at least a new one it has lots of personal things such as passwords for accounts on it

The Apple warranty does not cover accidental damage like loosing it. Did you opurchase any insurance
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

i've lost my iphone with passcode lock and find my iphone lock on but the wifi n cellular data was turned off so no way i can trace it so the only question remains is will the person who finds it be able to unlock it and use it as his own ?
is it possible to change imei number?
i've tried for so many times n still the phone is offline so i've set it to offline mode with my message but it never shows the last location why?

If the device is found, nobody can use it without knowing your Apple ID and password.
The phone will only show it's location if it is connected to cellular network or Wi-Fi. If those options are switched off, you can't locate the phone.
With iOS 7, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called Activation Lock, which is designed to prevent anyone else from using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you ever lose it. It starts working the moment you turn on Find My iPhone in iOS 7. With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password will be required before anyone can:
Turn off Find My iPhone on your device
    Erase your device
    Reactivate and use your device
This can help you keep your device secure, even if it is in the wrong hands, and can improve your chances of recovering it. Even if you erase your device remotely, Activation Lock can continue to deter anyone from reactivating your device without your permission. All you need to do is keep Find My iPhone turned on, andremember your Apple ID and password.
What steps should I take if I misplace my device?
If you ever misplace your device—whether it’s just lost or you think it may have been stolen—you should put it into Lost Mode immediately using Find My iPhone.
Lost Mode locks your screen with a four-digit passcode and lets you display a custom message with your phone number to help you get it back. You can also remotely erase your device if needed, and your custom message will continue to display even after the device is erased.
While Activation Lock works in the background to make it more difficult for someone to use or sell your missing device, Lost Mode clearly indicates to anyone who finds your device that it still belongs to you and can’t be reactivated without your password.
To put a device into Lost Mode, sign in to icloud.com/find from a Mac or PC or use the Find My iPhone iOS app.
For more information, read what to do if your device is lost or stolen.

  • I activated my ipad, used iCloud & Find my iphone with Apple ID named: A@.... But now I've changed address of Apple ID from A@... to the new one: B@... Which Apple ID will be asked to re-activate 7.0.4 ipad - A or B?

    Hello everybody!
I'm using ipad mini and the iOS is 7.0.4. I used an Apple ID (called: A), and I activated my ipad, used iCloud & Find my iphone with this A account. But now I've changed address of Apple ID from A@.... to the new one: B@.... (just changed email address of Apple ID, not create a new ID), and then I signed out iCloud, old Apple ID, etc... on my ipad and signed in with new id B@.... Everythings seem OK, I can sign in/out iCould, turn on/turn off Find my iphone as well with the new one (B@...)
But I still have a question (and still confusing with it): What will happend when I restored my ipad? I mean my iOS is 7, so which Apple ID will be asked to re-activate my ipad after I restore it, old id A@.... (this one cannot be used now) or the new one B@...., please?
Thank you very much for your helpful informations!

If you've succesfully changed the ID for iCloud and Find my phone, it will be your new ID you use if you need to restore it.

  • I have accidently removed my missing ipod form the icloud Find My Iphone, is there any way to retrieve it and locate it?, I have accidently removed my missing ipod form the icloud Find My Iphone, is there any way to retrieve it and locate it?

My Ipod touch was lost at school a few days ago, and when I went to icloud, i located and found where the person who has my ipod lives. The cops were called so they could retrieve it, but as to have proof i have none, because i have accidently removed my ipod touch from icloud Find My iPhone. I am now wondering if there's any way to retrieve the device back onto icloud if it was once on there. I can't locate it now and show the proof, is there any other way to locate your ipod touch or to restore it back onto icloud?

    Your proof is your receipt.
Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • If I lost my Iphone, but when I tried to locate with ICloud - find my Iphone it's offline. I lost in another country  which means that there is no Internet connection on my phone. Is there any chance to find?

If I lost my Iphone, but when I tried to locate with ICloud - find my Iphone it's offline. I lost in another country  which means that there is no Internet connection on my phone. Is there any chance to find?

In order for a lost iPhone to be located you have to have set 'Find My iPhone' up on it before losing it, and it has to be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network (how else could it transmit its location) - if any of these conditions is not true then locating it is not possible. You can't use the serial number or IMEI number to locate a phone: the former is only useful to identify it as yours if it turns up, and the latter can be used by most service providers to block it, rendering it useless and preventing anyone from spending your credit.

  • TS4006 need to add another device to iCloud (find my iPhone)?

    Hi
Please could you tell me how to add another device to icloud -  find my iphone?
    Shelby

To add a device to Find my iPhone, just set up iCloud in your iPhone, Mac, iPad or iPod. To set up it in an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, update it to iOS 5 and configure it in Setup Assistant. To set up it in a Mac, update it to OS X 10.7.2 or later and configure it in Setup Assistant or System Preferences

  • Mobile me/icloud find my iphone through a proxy server?

    Hi All,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so if it's not please let me know where is best.
I have a fleet of 600 ipads who are forced to run through a proxy server via a 3g connection. Up untill last week I could trace all these iPads via mobile me or icloud and use the find my iPhone feature. In this last week I seem to have lost this ability. All iPads are coming up with "no location". Mixture of iOS5 and variations of iOS4
If I turn off the proxy on the iPad I can trace the iPad.
me.com, apple.com amd icloud.com are all allowed through the proxy.
I cannot see anoy other banned traffic with a web address I can unblock.
I really just need to know what else I need to allow out via the proxy to get this working again? I'm guessing something has changed in Apple world as the proxy hasn't changed.
    Thanks

Hi - did you have any luck with this? I have a similar problem, but only on a private APN through our proxy. I've managed to allow all the URLs to get the iCloud account registered for each device via the APN/proxy, but they do not appear on my icloud.com device view. If I remove the APN, therefore our network proxy is not used, it works fine.
    Thanks

  • Need help with icloud, FIND MY IPHONE, google maps

I pull up icloud on my computer, see all my iphones that are on listed but when I go to test the FIND MY IPHONE, all I see is the iphone I chose and a "CAN'T SHOW LOCATION, GOOGLE MAPS IS NOT AVAILABLE".  How do I make it available?  I have google earth downloaded on my notebook and it works on my desktop computer but not on my laptop.  I have hit "display content" on the alert bar but I get nothing.

I had the same problem when I used Firefox as my browser; problem went away when I used IE instead.

  • HT201365 iOS 7 iCloud "Find my iPhone"

In Settings>iCloud it says I'm using the Apple ID c******@y***l.com, which was my old apple ID and the email had been transfered to another account. I can not disable Find My iPhone from that account because it always tells me incorrect password, because the account no longer exists. If I reset my phone, iOS 7 just re-adds the Find My iPhone account info. I try using the password from the current account and it still tells my my AppleID/Password is incorrect - which obviously it is since it no longer exists. Any ideas on how to solve this? (I had this problem during the beta and somehow someone helped me fix it but I forgot how, and I'm clueless right now.

Try going to Settings>iCloud and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud).  Then see if Find My iPhone will accept your password, allowing you to disable it and sign back into your iCloud account in Settings>iCloud.

  • Icloud & Find my iphone - Stolen Phone Content

    Hi,
I've been looking without success for an answer on my query.
Someone has stolen my iphone 4S today, I had findmyiphone app running as per default settings and logged on to http://www.icloud.com/find and it said Device offline.
The phone is turned off as we've been trying to ring it so being offline on http://www.icloud.com/find is understandable.  I was able to use the Lock function and then the Wipe function on the website however I was then told that the Wipe function means I wouldnt be able to then locate the phone with an internet signal because the wipe would occur.
I then tried to undo the wipe and selected the cross in the Device menu, it wasnt very clear it was going to delete the device but it did.
My http://www.icloud.com/find link now says No Devices.  Apple are now closed and I'll have to wait until Monday to call them, but in the mean time is there anyway to cancel the wipe and restore the device to http://www.icloud.com/find so I can monitor it?  Is this something Apple will be able to help me with Monday?
    Thank you in advance.

    Sorry, no.

    Nope.

  • How can i contact the previous owner of my iphone and get him/her to remove the find my iphone lock?

I bought a phone from a person on ebay. the phone was working fine until i locked myself out (forgot my passcode), upon restoring the iphone through itunes, it asks for an apple id for the person who activated the iphone. I the seller doesnt know the information and neither do i. Is there any way I can get the owners email that activated it? [email protected]. thats all it says and I would love to contact him and guide him through removing the device from his list.

    kyle37055 wrote:
that sounds like a massive flaw in apple's programming. something needs to be done to allow an automated email to be sent to the person who locked it to allow them to remove it or something.
well this is definately the last apple product i buy, thanks you guys for your information
