ICloud (Find My Mac) won't recognize my Lion Recovery Partition.

When I open the iCloud prefs, Find My Mac is greyed out and says "Recovery partition required." My recovery partion is bootable and working.
This happened after I resized my partitions using GParted. As mentioned, I tested the Recovery Partition right after resizing them, and it still works.
Here is the output of 'diskutil list /dev/disk0':
/dev/disk0
   #:                  TYPE NAME            SIZE       IDENTIFIER
   0: GUID_partition_scheme                *320.1 GB   disk0
   1:                   EFI                 209.7 MB   disk0s1
   2:             Apple_HFS Macintosh HD    213.9 GB   disk0s2
   3:             Apple_HFS Recovery HD     649.1 MB   disk0s3
4:  Microsoft Basic Data BOOTCAMP        75.5 GB    disk0s4
   5:  Microsoft Basic Data                 21.0 GB    disk0s5
   6:            Linux Swap                 8.7 GB     disk0s6
Partition 5 is ext3 formatted for Linux.

I tried using the RecoveryHDUpdate from Apple, but no dice. When selecting an install disk, it gave this error with a yellow triangle icon:
Lion Recovery Update can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating JavaScript for the package.
Selecting the Recovery HD itself yielded a different yellow triangle error:
Lion Recovery Update can't be installed on this disk. This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7.

Have an older 17 MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8. Software update says everyting is current. Mac doesn't have iCloud, preferences still shows MobileMe. Just bought new iPhone 5S. Mac won't recognize phone, says I need newer version of iTunes. Have no problem with computer recognizing old phone 3 or 1-1/2 year old iPad. I suspect I need to update OS, but as software update isn't telling me to do so, can I? What version would I need to go to?

Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.

i tried to get the installation disc for the camcorder but mac wont' recognize it becaue it is windows based i guess.
i just bought the camcorder a few months ago and when my computer crashed thought i'm finally getting a mac...it's been a costly venture which has resulted in more frustration than before my pc.
now the things i want to use with my mac that i thought would be even simpler...are not even useable...

That camera shoots H.264 in an .avi wrapper.
You will have to transfer the files via the Finder.
Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you.

  • Mac won't recognize my password to let me download anything

I recently downgraded from Yosemite Beta to Mountain Lion and now my mac won't recognize my login credentials. Curious thing is it does recognize them to let me login at startup. But it won't let me download anything because it says my password is wrong. I changed the password and again it recognized it to let me login but not to download anything. What's going on?

Where are you trying to download from? Apple ID password?

  • My mac won't recognize an external monitor. The screen Goes Blue Once, then goes blue again and the second monitor just turns off. I am using an HDMI adapter to a visio TV. I also have my xbox on the tv. Can anyone Help??

Lol, figured out the first part. Just for those who may be searching, when you click on the Display Preferences, and click on the arraingment tab... it not only shows where your two screens will be displayed, but the WHITE BAR at the top of one screen is the dock/toolbar. Click and hold to grab this and just slide it over to the screen you'd like it to be on.
You have to release it IN the screen box, not on top of it... and it should pop right over to the new (or old) screen. At any rate, you can put the dock on either (or any) screen that you prefer.
I am thinking of ordering more of these. Lol. 3 monitor setup seems like it would be crazy good.
Still looking for the answer to keeping the new 16" screen on the right without switching between screen #s with that... not expose... Lion feature.
Thanks. Hope my other question has an answer out here.

  • After transferring music to new Mac, Mac won't recognize iPod

I just recently transferred my music from a PC to a new Powerbook G4 using my iPod in disk mode. I erased everything on my iPod, then loaded it with music in disc mode to put on my new computer. But now, I need to erase the stuff on there in disc mode so I can put it back in the normal mode.
Just when I thought I was figuring it out, my Mac won't recognize my iPod. Do I need to reformat it for a Mac since I was using it with a PC? Be gentle, I'm new to Macs and don't know the lingo or my way around very well yet.

Exactly what steps did you follow?
    1. what do I do with original iTunes folder?
    It's on your old computer.
What do you want to do with it?
    2. how do I get iTunes to read/ingest playlist and songs?
If you copied the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer then you simply need to open iTunes.
Since it is the exact same library, everything will be there as it was on old computer.

  • Mini Mac won't  recognize my password

My mini mac won't recognize my passwoed. Is there any way to reset the password? I know I am entering it correctly. I am copying  down my the note pad I wrote it down on. I tried swapping  out the keyboard. I also tried resetting ithe as well. Please help.

Note: Resetting the keychain deletes all the old saved password entries!
You can't change a keychain password without knowing the old password.
Backup the files located in ~/Library/Keychain before resetting if you ever plan on attempting to recover the old keychain items (should you remember the old password).
The Finders 'Go menu > Go to folder…' will open that folder if you insert ~/Library/Keychain as the path.

  • Finder, Disk Utility won't recognize cd

I've burnt a program disk using Toast 8, however the disk is not working. I have a suspicion that the files may be corrupt, but I can't get it to open in Disk Utility to verify the disk.
Has anyone had this problem or know what to do?

How are those external drives (I'm assuming a "removable drive" is an external USB or Firewire drive) formatted? If they were formatted on a Windows machine, they're probably NTFS, which is only readable, not writeable, on a Mac without extra software. You can [search Google for "mac write ntfs"|http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=macwritentfs&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8] for some solutions, or you could use a FAT32 drive, which will be both readable and writeable by both systems (though the 2 GB file size limit of FAT32, among other things, makes it less than ideal).
Not sure why the Mac won't recognize a CD... perhaps you've got something wrong with the optical drive, or perhaps you're using bad disks. Can't say without more info.

  • ICloud finds my MAC at wrong location

ICloud finds my MAC about 2/10ths of a mile away, outside of blue circle.  My Mac has never been at that location.  Finds my IPhone in exact location.  Am using Find my MAC/Iphone for the 1st time.  Not a big problem, but makes me wonder.  Thought I should report it.

I was running my Macmini using Ethernet and I couldn't find the location of the computer. When I enabled Wi-Fi then Find My Mac started working ok. I then switched back to Ethernet connection and disabled the Wi-Fi connection and Find My Mac continued to work. I guess Find My Mac needs Wi-Fi to be switched on initially in order to locate the computer. This fixed my issue.

    Hi TakesTwo2Tango,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you should definitely be seeing a plus sign after tapping Edit, so I would try a couple relatively easy things (closing the Music app, resetting the iPhone):
iOS: Force an app to close

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
