ICloud historical contacts restore
Long Story Short:
The BEST bet is to get an iCloud Senior Supervisor who can facilitate that 'Time Machine' of their data of mine back to 1/19/14. I had a similar problem in 2010 that had to do with calendars and it took until the 7th time I contacted MobileMe before I got 'Sarah' a MobileMe Senior Adviser who took ownership of my problem and was able to do an 'historical' restore. I was hoping I could escalate to a similar level assistance but Apple doesn't seem to do e-mail anymore.
Short Story Long:
So 1000+contacts on my iCloud have been deleted! Ugh! Help!
I was giving my Samsung GS3 (as you'll see I'm a hybrid Android & Apple user) to a glass repair place and I did not want to have access to my contacts.
I went into my Android program, SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.carddav.icloud&hl=en), and checked the box "One Way Sync: Set to sync from server to phone only." I figured that meant whatever I did now on my phone would not affect my cloud. I then took out the SIM card so it had internet/phone access. I then went into my contacts on my GS3 and deleted them all. In other words, I was being overly cautious. When the phone was fixed I popped the SIM card back in. Did nothing else. Got home on my PC and logged into my iCloud online and noticed that all my contacts were also gone from there!
I've called Apple and they can't revert it. I don't have any back-ups on iTunes, .csv, .vcf, abbu, etc. If you can think of a back-up potential, I've probably already investigated it and come to a dead end. I did download an internet program (http://www.tenorshare.com/products/iphone-data-recovery-mac.html) and retrieved some data from my wife's iPhone4S but all phone numbers and e-mail addresses come in listed as 'mobile' phone numbers and any 'notes' (which are extensive) as well as addresses are lost. I've looked into trying to pull off contacts from Verizon (my carrier) or even Samsung, but they too have nothing. I've contacted the maker of that Android program and their not sure what went wrong and have nothing for me.
My only other potential is my wife's MacBook Pro 'Address Book' recovery. That being said, it would have to be some program because I did not have 'Time Machine' active.
You may think I'm reckless with such valuable data but before I got my Samsung GS3 in September, 2012, I used to always sync with iTunes daily despite my wife NEVER syncing. Then when I got my Samsung GS3 combined with the newer iCloud replacement to MobileMe, I figured that iCloud would have the 'Time Machine' and really THAT is what I'm hoping to find, despite them telling me it is not possible. There must be a 'SENIOR' supervisor who can make this happen! Either that or I ask the NSA to help - LOL!
Any ideas?

PS-I've already been to the Genius Bar as well as called iCloud support twice and been told there is nothing further they can do.

Contacts are not included in the iCloud backup. Instead they are synced to your iCloud account. You can check on icloud.com from your computer to see if the contacts is there. If it isn't, you won't be able to restore it from iCloud. (Unfortunately, there's a good chance it's gone since when you delete a contact from your phone whie syncing contacts with iCloud, it is deleted from your iCloud account too.)

I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.something (something about the speakers) to get rid of a notification and it went into recovery mode!!! My photos are not backed up or on icloud. i havent restored yet because i cannot lose my photos/videos, etc. but tinyumbrella wont work to exit recovery mode. HELP! please:(
i tried tinyumbrella (and another similar software) to exit recovery but it only remains on the apple logo stuck there. please is there anything else i can do? i've contacted apple and they have told me the only choice i have is to restore and lose all my data.
my iphone isn't jailbroken and i've updated before without this problem so i'm not sure what has happened. is there anyyy hope please ???First I would try to hold down the power and the home button for about 15sec, but at least as long as the iPhone restarts, if it is still stuck or still in recovery mode then I can suggest you the tool "Wondershare Dr. Fone for iOS", it is both a Windows and Mac tool and I just used it today to get my iPad out of the Recovery mode.

I dont have any contact detail of that person whom i had bought this phone..If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

You cannot
Activation lock is the latest form of anti theft
If you cannot contact the original owner who set the Apple id then the iPhone is a paper weight .
It cannot be activated in any way and the "seller" is the only way you will get the information

No. iCloud content is not affected when a device is erased.

ICloud Group contacts disappeared after upgraded to Windows 8.1.
After upgrading to Windows 8.1 received message "The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened." When opening the iCloud contacts in Outlook 2010. I performed the fix of signing out of the iCloud control panel and back in to resolve the above error message and was able to access my addresses. However, all of the iCloud Group contacts disappeared from Outlook and from iCloud. Is there any way to restore the iCloud contacts back to a point when the Group contacts still existed.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 14t-1200 CTO Beats Edition Notebook PC and issues after an Windows 8.1 update. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults.You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings which should resolve the fan issue.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system. If the drivers are not updated this could cause this same issue.
If that does not help at the end of the document it shows you to do a hardware test.
Please note remove any and all USB devices before troubleshooting. Disconnect all non-essential devices

What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?
What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID? For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together? We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.
Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this. -
Help updated my ipad with IOS 7.0.4. It asks me what language, chooses my wi-fi and then asks.........1 - set up as a new ipad, 2 - restore from iclouds or 3 - restore from itunes but won't restore as not enough memory! What do I do now?

Whats my next move as I CANNOT use the ipas at the moment!!!!!!!!Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

My iPad has a number of documents, including pdf, xls, doc, ppt files. Some are associated with Documents to Go - Premium, which froze on the device attempting to download an update and had to be deleted (which also deleted the files that only were on the iPad and associated witht the app). How do I restore only that app and/or the related files from the iCloud. Ans I've found so far were not clear/specific enough or seemed to indicate the entire iPad had to be restored. iOS 5.1.1
Step by step
1. Erase all contents and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
5. Configuration start
6. Set language
7. Set country
8. Enable Location Service
9. Select network, enter password and join network
10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
11. Selected Restore from iCloud Backup
12. You'll be required to enter Apple ID and Password
13. Agree to Terms and Conditions
14. Select Backup file
15. You'll see progress bar
16. Red slider will appear; slide to unlock; step #1 to #16 is fast
17. Pre-installed apps will be restored first
18. Message: Purchased apps and media will now be automatically downloaded
19. You'll see a pageful of apps with Waiting/Loading/Installing
20. Message: Some apps cannot be downloaded, please sync with computer -

Storage & Backup / iCloud Backup is how you restore the device with your last backup. -

Runnig 10.6.8 on a MacBook PRO.....The easiest fix if you're running Snow Leopard is to export all your contacts, then import them into something like google (I already had a gmail account), and then just use google to sync your contacts instead of icloud (via the sync with Google button in the address book settings).
Its a bit sluggish to update, but it works well. You can then point your iphone, and other iOS devices to use google for contacts too.
If Apple don't want to look after their customers, other companies will gladly do so.... -
After upgrading to Windows, in my Outlook 2007 Contacts I now have "Contacts in iCloud" plus "Contacts from iCloud". How can I merge the two to avoid duplication.

Thank you for your suggestion. I backup on itunes. I went to itunes, deleted syncing my contacts, then re-synced them. But the Facetime capability option continues to be there on most (not all, for some curious reason) of my contacts. I am not sure I posed my question correctly. I want to be able to FT with my family, so don't want to delete the FT capability totally from my iphone and ipad. But I don't want all these other iphone calls from various contacts to ring on my ipad as FT calls. I want a way to select with whom I have FT capabilities. Any further suggestions? While my iphone (6 plus) is synced with icloud, the contacts on icloud are several years old! My phone shows that it was backed up this morning to icloud. Any ideas on why icloud is not updated with my contacts?
