Icloud: how do I get my movies / tv progs back?

Hi all
I recently bought icloud as I knew I was having my computer re-built and that this would wipe itunes. I have now reinstalled itunes and icloud has worked great for my music and apps, but I've lost all my movies and tv programmes
My guess is that icloud doesn't support video, which I guess is fine as I was careful to back up my itunes onto an external harddrive beforehand (kind of defeating the point of getting icloud, but heh...).
However, I'm now not sure how exactly I get them back into itunes without wiping what's new/already there. Any advice?

You can download TV programmes via 'purchased' but movies are, at present, one time download only. If you didn't have a backup of the movies, I think you've lost them.

If you are in the US then you should be able to download some or all of your films : re-downloading. If you are not in the US then have you not got them on your computer's iTunes and/or on a backup ?

You only get one download of movies/tv shows.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then itunes purchases can be transferred from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

Firstly iTunes and iCloud are different things, movies are handled by iTunes.
iTunes now has iTunes in the cloud and iTunes Match, but neither deals with movies. Your purchased movies will need to be copied from your old computer to your new one.

You can't put movies into iCloud.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

How did they wipe it? By using Find My iPad and performing a wipe? If so, that means they have your icloud ID and password, not a good thing.
You could try connecting it to iTunes and performing a restore from iCloud. But if they changed password, then you are out of the loop. How did they get your password in order to change it?

Verifying that any iCloud account that may be signed in is signed out should resolve this error.
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.

It won't show on iCloud because iCloud is associated with a specific Apple ID. The music should be on your computer's iTunes and a Sync will put it on the iPad (be sure to configure iTunes properly). If you want to get it from iCloud, I think that you need to temporarily change your ID back to the old one but I've never done that myself.

You can't, but you have a few alternatives.
Best option: If you made the movie on the DVD in iMovie (or even another editing application) and still have the project, go back to the project and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Next best option: If you still have the original movie that you put on the DVD, open it in QuickTime and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Worst option: Use something like Mpegstreamclip (Quicktime Mpeg2 playback component required) to convert the DVD to h264.

If you still have the crashed Win computer, you may be able to recover your music and movies from the hard drive. If you have a friend with a hard drive USB connection kit and a PC, they should be able to help. Otherwise, check locally for computer services that might do that for you (I think Best Buy Geek Squad may be able to help). If the drive itself is in good shape, it shouldn't be too expensive.

Hi Randers4 thank you for trying to help. I finally gave up and just called apple. Apparantly my renewel went under my icloud ID while my previous accout was my itunes ID. Never had to match them before but I guess we do now. Once I switched my iphone ID to the ID I used to renew the icloud it backed up. Live and learn.
