ICloud ID incorrect

Hi,
I hope someone can help - I just upgraded to the new iOS and it is defaulting to an old iCloud account which I do not use. I can not delete this account because I am unable to turn off iFind since I do not have this password and Apple does not know the account to reset my password.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Paul

Unfortunately, unless you know the Apple ID, there is absolutely nothing that can be done, you cannot use or even sell your mobile device. You may be able to find your Apple ID at Look up your old and forgotten Apple ID

About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone.  Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc.  This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

  • How do I stop the message "user name or password for iCloud is incorrect" from popping up 2 times in a row when i try to get mail from other accounts? thank you in advance

How do I stop the message "Cannot get mail. The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect" from popping up 2-4 times consecutively every time I choose MAIL on my iPhone 4,  7.1.1  I have to select "OK" 2-4 times each time before I can read other email accounts.  I used to have an "@me.com" account which I think was automatically changed to an "@icloud.com account."  I opened a new iCloud.com account yesterday because I could not figure out how to get in the old ones.  I want to delete the original @me & original iCloud account.  When I try to delete the account, they tell me my DOB is wrong. I just want those pop ups to stop.  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Suzanne,
It sounds like you’re running into a password issue with an older Apple ID that’s setup on your iPhone, which is preventing you from removing an iCloud account from your device. Take a look at the article linked below, it outlines all of the possible ways to change an Apple ID password.
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
After you enter your Apple ID, there are three ways you can change your password:
Answer your security questions. Use these steps if you know the answers to your security questions.
Use email authentication. We'll send you an email that you can use to change your password.
Use two-step verification. If you set up two-step verification, you can use it to change your password. You just need your recovery key and a trusted device.
    So long,

  • HT4436 why do i keep getting a message that states "the user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect?

Why do I keep getting a message that states "the user name or password for icloud is incorrect.

Apple are currently trying to get less secure passwords updated. They require that your account passwords are at least eight characters long and contain both alpha and numeric characters and at least one upper case alpha character.
You might try changing your account password to match these requirements.

  • I'm getting the user name or password for icloud is incorrect. Everything was good until I changed my apple id pass word

I had to change my apple id password and now I'm getting the user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect.

    Hi Ed,
I experienced a similar problem too.  It happened overnight a few weeks ago after 11/19.
I got a pop up message, saying that my password needed to be reset.
So I reset my password, and ever since, I have not been able to read/send email from my icould @me.com acct.
Now I get the error: "The user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect" on my iOS devices, though it is correct enough for access my iTunes account and to log into http://icloud.com.
Interestingly enough, the issue seems to be related to the email only, since I cannot access icould email from the website either. It instead creates an error dump.

my icloud account keeps telling me that my user name or password for icloud is incorrect but it works for downloading apps etc and joining this forum

Accessing the itunes store and joining this forum are different accounts than an icloud account, so it's not necessarily true that your ID for icloud is the same as for itunes.
Did you set up an icloud account?

  • ICloud Backup incorrect on iPhone 4S

Hey everyone, quick problem that I thought was probably an iOS glitch until I couldn't find any discussions about it (and still, maybe it is...)
My iPhone 4S is the only device I have backed up to iCloud.  I have the "free" 5Gb storage plan.  Running iOS 6.0.1 (current.)
Under Settings > iCloud, I have "ON" selected for Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Safari, "Documents & Data", and Find My iPhone, and "OFF" for Mail, Notes, Passbook, and Photo Stream.
Continuing to "Storage and Backup" > Manage Storage > This iPhone, under "Backup Options", I have "ON" selected for all of my apps.  The item on this list with the most data, my Camera Roll, is 1.1Gb, the next item is 8.4Mb, and it decreases pretty quickly from there on down (I don't have an obscene number of apps or anything like that.)
My "Next Backup Size" is listed as 4.7 Gb, and it says I have 350Mb available.  (It was 4.9 for awhile, until I moved most of my photos to my computer.)
I don't think this number is correct; if it is, where is all this data coming from?  My apps can't possibly add up to more than 1.2Gb or so, and I can hardly imagine that anything under in the Settings > iCloud list is taking up very much space.  Yet I keep getting that dreaded "your iCloud storage is almost full" email.  Is there stuff going on behind the scenes taking up 3Gb? What's going on?
Also I feel that I should mention that my friend said he had this issue once and solved it by simply deleting the backup, then turning it back up. He thought the problem was certain data copying multiple times, or something along those lines.  I've tried this but it did not help.
If this is incorrect, is there anything I can do to fix it?  If it's not, I'd love an explanation. Usually I know my way around iOS pretty well, so this is really bugging me.
    Thanks!

Apple states that the iCloud back up keeps the last three back ups. I assume therefore that the back up is a kind of rolling back up and that as a result the total back up size is likely to be bigger than just the back up of all current items.

  • The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect

I can log into my me.com account but in MAIL I receive an error that my user name or password are incorrect and cannot get mail. They are correct, the same in Mail as they are if i access my Apple account. Solutions????

    Having the same Problem.
    In details:
    - If i try to send a new mail, i got the "incorrect username or password"-popup on my iphone
    - if i go to settings and re-enter the password, the verifying succeeds (there are 3 check marks)
    - if i send an email to the address "[email protected]" from another account, i get response with an user-unknown-message
    - I can login via icloud.com and send mails.
    - I can sync contacts, calendar (but no mail)
    - I do not had a me.com/mac.com (mobileme) account before i activated icloud (the iphone asked me for a new me.com-address and i entered a new one (e.g. the [email protected]))
    - my apple-id is not the same like the me.com address (it is an email-address from a private domain)
    - the me.com - address is marked as verified, if i open the apple-id-settings via the apple-site.
i also tryed several things (restart, delete and recreate the icloud-account etc.) but nothing worked for me
i hope that this is only a temporary issue... maybe it's due to the current overload-situation...

  • Password for iCloud is incorrect on iPhone.  How do I change it?

incorrect i Cloud password on iphone 4.  How do I correct it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

  • ICloud password incorrect?

Periodically my iPhone will tell me my iCloud password is incorrect and then I can't access my email. If I try to enter it, the password isn't recognized and then I have to change my Apple ID password. What's going on? I have an iPhone 5 running most recent iOS.

    Hello LOUoJ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Since you are being prompted for your previous Apple ID after changing the email, you will need to temporarily change your Apple ID back to the previous one, and then sign out.  To avoid this in the future, before changing your Apple ID, sign out of the services you use, and then change it.  For directions on this process please see the link below.

  • ICloud says username or password is incorrect

Hi, usually I don't have very many problems with my Apple devices but one came up. It says the username or password for iCloud is incorrect and at the top it says Cannot Get Mail. Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks

Hi - I'm getting the same symptoms, on my iPad:
Cannot Get Mail. The user name or password for "iCloud" is incorrect
Also have an authentication error on my Mac trying to get into Mail and finally the most worrying when I log into iCloud in a browser it can't load my mail.  Another error message and the offer to submit a report to Apple.  I can't get into my mail on any device?
    Any ideas?
