ICloud is a game :)

iCloud control Panel 2.x is still not ready for professional use, only for games
With iCloud control Panel 2.x you cannot choose which Outlook folder to sync !
Hoping some Apple developer reading this thread:
A professional Outlook user, has normally 2/3 Contacts folders (Private contacts, Business contacts) and 2 Calendar folders
A professional sync manager like BlackBerry Desktop Manager has feature to choose which folders to sync and manage very well the conflicts !!!
I've see a very comic help here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4147 : if you have duplicate contacts delete them manually !!
crazy people..
I've around 12000 business contacts and around 600 personal contacts !
we wait for iCloud Panel 17.x
Blondie

Really i made a mistake because iCloud 2.0 permit to choose which Outlook folder to sync, but my error was because an options button is missing
On when i click on checkbox i can choose outlook folders, but how can change this setting later ??
Anyway, looking on this forum and around the web i've seen many many people having problems with iCloud sync Outlook ! Other thing: i've no found any settings to manage conflicts (es. same contact with different info, i modify it on my device and also in Outlook)
I think it's better to wait to use icloud & outlook... or not ?

  • Using icloud to store game apps

I have an ipad mini and purchased additional icloud space. I enabled automatic downloads of apps but when I attempt to buy more game apps I receive a message that there is not enough storage. What am I missing?

Purchasing extra iCloud storage give you extra space for your device backups, to be able to download and install apps on your iPad you need space on your iPad - your current available space is shown in Settings > General > About > Available (you generally need approximately twice an app's size to be able to download and install it).
You can see how much space each app is taking up on your iPad via Settings > General > Usage

  • Transfer Game Center info from Store ID to iCloud ID

    Hi!
I would like to know if there is a way to transfer all my Game Center info from my Store ID (google account) to iCloud ID (me account). This must include all my achievements, save data and progress, nickname and friends.
On the other side, I have a doubt about the games that sync theirs progress through iCloud. Because my Game Center is not linked to iCloud, where these games store the info?
For example, Cut the rope syncs its progress apparently through iCloud but I can not find any file on my iCloud storage. I have checked on the iCloud storage info in my iPad Settings and also in the Mobile Documents on my Mac Library. Maybe I'm not suppose to see those files but I guess that if the data of the game is on iCloud it won't be difficult to migrate Game Center to iCloud because iCloud have already my data...
    I don't know if I'm clear enough....
    Thanks in advance.

I have tried doing just as you have asked with my partner, but failed.
My gamecenter ID is my appleID. This seems to be the biggest problem.
It turns out that when we transfered my gamecenter ID to her newly created ID (Can be done in gamecenter) that it makes her newly created ID the appleID in the whole process. A big BUHBOW! We tried many different ways to get it to work but in the end I had to have her transfer back to my apple ID. ALL BACK TO NORMAL with my cloud! , you have no idea
Try it yourself, but if you used the same Gamecenter ID as your Apple ID be prepared to use the new account as your Apple ID.
It isn't supposed to be that way either, the GC transfer is supposed to do achievements and saves (in GC cloud only and not if saves are local(although there are depressing workarounds on the net for those)). I had iTunes support verify this whole process while I hammered them 'this wont affect MY appleID?', they say no it shouldn't. But testing this out first hand proved otherwise.
As I said, it may be different if your GC ID is not the same as your Apple ID.
I now have my partner cursing half eaten worms about Apple.
I will be back on to support tomorrow about this.
EDIT: I just re-read what you wrote and actually, you can only transfer the GC ID to a NON existing email account (just to be clear I mean to apple, the email can exist just not in any apple accounts anywhere). That is, the whole process of the transfer creates a NEW account and can't be tied in to any account but then adds it to your account when done. If so you get 'Account is already in use'. That part I had itunes support delete my partners apple id to have try this all out (she wasn't using it anyways so nothing lost there). Doing the transfer adds the new email addy to your account but it sets it as primary for the account. (As I said if yours is the primary like mine is for GC and the AppleID)
I believe the whole transfer is worth staying well clear of for now. The issues we had were bad, but I managed to get everything back the way it was albeit many password changes later.

  • HT5622 On my Ipad how can I change the apple/iCloud id to my husbands id but keep the iTunes id as mine

I Am trying to 'give' my iPad to my husband, when I try to change my iCloud id to his by entering his email it tells me this is already in use (he has an Apple  id for his iPhone). Another message I had was to use the new email address (his) with the old password (mine). I am confused - I did not have this problem when I gave him my iPhone 4s. (That was iOS 7 the iPad is now updated to iOS 8, if that makes a difference)
    thank you

    Hi Very Baffled,
Happy Holidays!  The article below outlines the recommended steps to take before giving your iPad to your husband.  The main point is to backup the iPhone, and then erase all content and settings.
That way, your husband will have a "new" device and when he sets it up with his own Apple ID ... all of his content will be added to the iPad.

If you still have your iOS device
Before you sell or give away your iOS device, make sure that you've removed all of your personal information. Follow these steps to protect your data and get your device to its factory default state for the new owner:
    Back up your device.
    Sign out of iCloud:
Tap Settings > iCloud, scroll down, and tap Sign Out. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account.
Tap Sign Out again, tap Delete from My iPhone, then enter your password.
Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
This will completely erase your device, including any credit or debit cards you added for Apple Pay and any photos, contacts, music, or apps. It will also turn off iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and other services.
If you're using iOS 7 or later and have Find My iPhone turned on, your Apple ID and password will be required. After you provide your password, the device will be erased and removed from your account so that the next owner can activate it.
Your content won't be deleted from iCloud when you erase your device.
Contact your carrier for guidance on transferring service to the new owner. If you aren't using a SIM-card with your device, you can contact them to get help transferring service to the new owner.
When the new owner turns on the device for the first time, Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process.
Important: Don't manually delete contacts, calendars, reminders, documents, photo streams, or any other iCloud data while signed in to your iCloud account, or the content will also be deleted from the iCloud servers and all of your devices that are signed in to iCloud.

  • ICloud gaming

How  does iCloud work with games that support it?

It allows you to pick up and continue where you left off on one device on another device.

  • If I delete an app from my iPhone.. its data from iCloud is automatically deleted.. Will it come back when i reinstall the app..??

I backed up my phone on iCloud when my games were installed.. then I deleted them.. but after some days when i opened manage storage in icloud.. my app data wasn't there..?? How do i fix it..??

did your iCloud back up your iPhone automatically? if this you should stop it first or back up your games with iTunes.

  • If you go to the reset option in seetiongs and you select erase all content will your icloud automatically sign out on its own ?

i'm curious because my it looks like i'll have to buy a new iphone because i dont remember the password to my email, my recovery email and my icloud and my best friend was generous enough to let me use her icloud to see if it can be fixed

No that will not sign you out of iCloud. If it did, Activation Lock would be very weak.
See the following quote from What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • I just changed my apple password for iTunes.  Is it now the password for all apple related accounts, like mail, iCloud, etc.?

When you change your Apple password, does the same password apply to itunes, mail, icloud etc. or do they all have separate passwords?

It's the same account and password - iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, Game Center, stores.
You may need to log out of your account on any iOS devices that you have by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated password so as to 'refresh' the account on it, and for Cloud.
There is an 'Update your settings for devices and services that need your Apple ID password' section on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2446 (the page is about resetting a password, but the principle is the same)

  • Sold an iOS unit - forgot to logout from iCloud - will there be problems?

So, I sold my iOS unit, and before you sell it, you are supposed to do the following steps, as instructed on the following website: What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support:
Before you sell or give away your iOS device, make sure that you've removed all of your personal information. Follow these steps to protect your data and get your device to its factory default state for the new owner:

Well, I did step 2 and 3, I did a Erase all Content and Settings.
But, I forgot step 2, logging out from iCloud.
What I did was I turned off Find my Phone in iCloud settings, then did a total reset
    Now, here is my questions:
    1. Will the new owner have any problems activating his iCloud account on the device, or will my iCloud ID show up?
    2. Also, am I logged out from iCloud after the reset?
I think it would be strange that iCloud credentials would not dissapear after a total reset of the phone, and I am curious as to why you have to perform step 2 at all when you do a total reset...
    All help is appreciated

    Thanks for the input.
I actually turned off Find my Phone before I did the reset (was mandatory to turn off Find my Phone before I even could do a reset), so it is no longer present among my units in iCloud.
That would mean that the new owner can type in their icloud username and password without problems?

  • Lost progress in game center account after re-create new apple id account by same email

My situation is that my apple id was locked (I have no idea why) but I failed when tried to unlock it by Send Email Authentication or Answer Secure question (I noted the questions & answers before, then I'm quite sure I have correct stuffs), no idea why it didn't work.
At that time, I did a silly action that I created a new apple id with the same email address (I had thought that it had to be impossible because Apple ID don't allow to create apple id with an unavailable email address and my apple id was just locked, not deleted or changed email). Unfortunately, I could create a new apple id with the same email address of the old one, why it's possible
Then, the new apple id (same email address, same id, even same password ) but all my stuffs on icloud, progress on game center was replaced by EMPTY . hjx, I have a Clash Of Clan account with level 113, I contacted Clash Of Clan admin, they replied that they just could help me to do any necessary query to support if apple require, but they could not restore my progress to the new apple id (new but old)
I appreciate for any recommendation to help me get my stuff back.
    Thanks for reading!

I was able to correct this by going into Safari privacy settings and changing the accept cookies from Never to only visited.

  • Remove device from my icloud

I am selling my iphone 5s. I have reset it and posted it on CL. Someone asked me today if it was locked by icloud. How can I tell if it is icloud locked and how do I unlock it. I know my Itunes user name and password.

    Hi Kymera99,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are going to sell your iPhone 5s and want to make sure it's not locked by iCloud. This feature is called Activation Lock, and it's enabled when you turn on Find my iPhone from the iCloud settings.
If you used "Erase All Content and Settings" from the Settings > General > Reset menu, then your device would be removed from your iCloud account. In this case, it would no longer be locked, as mentioned here:
Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
This will completely erase your device, including any credit or debit cards you added for Apple Pay and any photos, contacts, music, or apps. It will also turn off iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and other services.
If you're using iOS 7 or later and have Find My iPhone turned on, your Apple ID and password will be required. After you provide your password, the device will be erased and removed from your account so that the next owner can activate it.
For more details about this and what to do before selling your iPhone, see this Support article:

  • Games are not syncing across iOS devices

My games are not syncing across my iOS devices. Both my iPhone and iPad are running the same software and are linked to the same account. However my games don't seem to sync. Which is annoying if I'm playing a game on one device I have to start over on another. For example temple run does not sync. Anyone have any suggestions. I'm also having the same problem with infinity blade 2.

Game syncs only work for games that support iCloud. The game developer has to enable that feature. There are several games such as Jetpack Joyride and League of Evil 2 that support iCloud syncing of games. Unfortunately, other games like Temple Run don't do that since the dev never implemented that feature.

  • Iphone icloud status help

i deleted icloud  but on the icloud page to check activation status it says "Activation lock: On. The current users apple id and password will be required"
    how do i fix this

    Hi iphoney109,
The steps outlined below detail what to do prior to selling your device (including removing it from your account in step 3) so that it can be successfully activated by the purchaser.
