ICloud is blocking valid emails

iCloud has started blocking a legitimate domain.  How to I whitelist that domain?

Hello mshaty,
I found some information about troubleshooting false-positives in the iCloud junk mailbox:
Troubleshooting false-positives
Due to the complexity of accurately detecting and filtering out spam, on rare occasions a legitimate email from a friendly source may be blocked from reaching your Inbox. This is called a false-positive. If you feel that a legitimate email message was inadvertently filtered, you may want to ask your friend to send a follow up email to verify the issue exists before contacting support. If you notice that multiple email messages are being delayed, bounced, or not delivered, please contact iCloud Support directly.
Also make sure to check your Junk folder for email messages that were incorrectly marked as spam. To check your Junk folder from iCloud.com, choose the Mail application and click the Junk folder in the sidebar.
Note: Email messages in the Junk folder are automatically deleted after 30 days.

    How do i unlock the ipad with the message "this ipad cannot back up to the icloud without a verified email address"?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

  • How can I access email if iCloud is blocked?

    The company I work for views iCloud as a potential threat to the company network and have blocked all access to it. Is there another method that I can use to access email when I am at work?

    If your company are ok with you accessing your email, you can either access it via webmail at http://www.icloud.com through a browser, or ask your companies IT department to open up access to only the iCloud IMAP and SMTP email servers.
    The relevant server details are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
    Document storage, calendars, bookmarks, photostream and everything else iCloud provides are all done through different servers so can be blocked seperately to the email servers.

  • ICloud - Please specify a valid email address.

    Hi
    I need to change my email address associated with my Apple ID from [email protected] to [email protected]
    However, the clever logic on iCloud will not let me, telling me instead to "Please specify a valid email address."
    The email address isperfectly valid, can somebody assist with this please.
    Regards,

    It seems you can't use things like hello or info of example [email protected] will work but not [email protected] or [email protected] This is supremely frustrating can you fix this please Apple

  • My iCloud server is bouncing email

    For some reason email addressed to my account is recognized as spam, even though it is not. I checked the sending account's IP address [noted below] with MXTOOLBOX, it isn't coming up bad. Then I checked the account IP listed in the bounce message and likewise. Why is the iCloud server bouncing back emails addressed to me? Here is the bounce notification I received... (obfuscated my email for security reasons).
    Email clipping:
    This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
    A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
    recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    I tried sending from another email address and that works OK. So I conclude that me.com server software has mistakenly declared my email as spam for some unknown reason. How can this be fixed?

    You have to delete the old account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • SpamCannibal blocking valid domains.... How do I disable it?

    Hello all,
    I have been running fine for a few months, and I recently started getting bounce problems stemming from SpamCannibal. I found that when I send email to my mail server from an external account, i get a bounce message on my external account that states that SpamCannibal is blocking this email because my external accounts mail server is a spam server. It isn't, but that's neither here nor there.
    After doing some research I have found that many many people have stopped using SpamCannibal due to their higher standards, and I found a few documents on how to disable it in a standard Linux install of SpamAssassin. However, the info isn't valid with regards to a standard Leopard Server install of SpamAssassin as the file exim.conf that is referred to in the other documents does not appear to exist in a Leopard Server environment.
    Any suggestions?

    the IP and domain are accurate. I talked to the host, and of course they are blaming my servers. I am on a T1, so I don't think that there is another server trying to block email.
    Alex, I trust you enough to know that if you say SpamCannibal isn't installed, then SpamCannibal isn't installed.
    The message looks like my server is kicking it back, but I wonder if it is something that the host is using to keep their users from using their servers as spam servers. But I am watching my firewall when I test this, and I am not seeing the message come through. Anyways, here is the bounce that I am recieving for what it is worth

  • I can't create new iCloud acct bcs my email is attached to wife's acct

    This Apple Id is my wife's. I want to create a new Apple Id with its own iCloud account, but when I try to it fails because my email account is already in use as her rescue email address. How can I create a new Apple Id and iCloud account using my email address? Do I need to have her change her rescue email address? We have tried to do that but don't know how to edit the account information.

    A new angle on this issue arose when my wife suggested that I might already have an Apple id using my gmail account. So I tried logging in using that id, indicating that I had forgotten my password. When I clicked ok, the login screen indicated that an email was sent which would enable me to reset my password and recover my account. However, no email has been received after three hours. If the Apple id is not a valid one, wouldn't the login process indicate such?

  • How to block spam email sender on iMac ?

    How to block spam email sender on iMac ?

    You can setup a Junk mail filter in Mail preferences, it will still enter your mailbox but be under a Junk folder. You can then check and if required delete the mail.
    In this web page note the option of applying the filter via webmail on an IMAP server such as iCloud.
    http://itservices.stanford.edu/service/emailcalendar/email/spam/filters/osx
    Another option is a commercial filter for Mail, this one but I know nothing about this software, a google search will probably find others.

  • Campaigns - Hard bounces for valid email addresses

    I am getting hard bounces with 'Bad Mailbox Destination Address' for valid email addresses that everybody internally and externally can email without problem.
    Doesn't instill me with much faith for sending out 10,000 emails next week!

    If you can email that address manually from a regular email address and it goes through fine then it's likely you might be getting blocked by spam filters although usually that would be indicated in your bounce message.
    Is your site fully hosted on BC (ie - with BC's nameservers) or is your domain hosted via an A record to point to BC?  If you are being blocked by spam filters then you are likely using the A record because fully hosted sites on BC have the SPF records in place.
    If you are using an A record to point to BC's servers for your domain and manage your DNS records somwehere then you need to add a TXT record with the SPF data.  Goto your domain registrar and manage your DNS entries.  You'll want to add a TXT record with the following info:
    Record name: @
    Record type: TXT
    Record value: v=spf1 mx include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all
    Record TTL: 86400
    You can only have one SPF record on your domain so if you already have a TXT record with SPF data in it for other email services your domain uses (like gmail) you just need to update your TXT SPF record and add "include:worldsecuresystems.com" after the first "include" statement in the TXT record the TXT value would look like:
    "v=spf1 mx include:_spf.google.com include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all"
    If your problem is that your emails are blocked by spam filters that should fix it but I'm pretty sure 'Bad Mailbox Destination Address' usually indicates a non-existent or malformatted username in your email address (ie - the part before the "@").  I would also double check your subscribers list and make sure there are no spaces or any other invalid character in the email addresses for the customers that are getting bounced back.
    Here's more information about your specific error from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232118(v=exchg.80).aspx which has to do with MS Exchange server specifically but still provides a good explanation:
    5.1.1
    Bad destination mailbox address
    This failure may be caused by the following conditions:
    The recipient e-mail address was entered incorrectly by the sender.
    No recipient exists in the destination e-mail system.
    The recipient mailbox has been moved and the Microsoft Office Outlook recipient cache on the sender's computer has not updated.
    An invalid legacy domain name (DN) exists for the recipient mailbox Active Directory.
    This error typically occurs when the sender of the message incorrectly enters the e-mail address of the recipient. The sender should check the recipient's e-mail address and send again. This error can also occur if the recipient e-mail address was correct in the past but has changed or has been removed from the destination e-mail system.
    If the sender of the message is in the same Exchange organization as the recipient, and the recipient mailbox still exists, determine whether the recipient mailbox has been relocated to a new e-mail server. If this is the case, Outlook may not have updated the recipient cache correctly. Instruct the sender to remove the recipient address from sender's Outlook recipient cache and then create a new message. Resending the original message will result in the same failure.
    Other issues may cause this error, such as an invalid legacy distinguished name (DN) in Active Directory. Examine and correct the legacy DN of the recipient's mailbox. Then instruct the sender to remove the recipient address from sender's Outlook recipient cache and then create a new message. Resending the original message will result in the same failure.

  • Need help isolating specific domain name extensions when validating emails

    Dear fellow Java developers:
    I am trying to write an application in Java using regexp in order to validate a form where a user submits their name, along with their email address. One thing I need to do as part of this application is isolate email addresses with certain extensions. For example, I would like to be able to test to see if a users email address has the top level domain extension ".ca", or has a second level domain extension of the form ".on.ca", ".co.uk", or ".org.uk", etc. Which means that if a user submits an email address that ends in .ca, or .on.ca, the block of code would be able to pick it out by checking against a predetermined regexp, and I would like the regexp to be able to check email addresses that contain a top level extension only(e.g. .ca), or addresses that contain a second level country code extension (e.g. .co.uk).
    I tried using the following regexp in my java code, but for some reason, it is not working:
    ^[A-Z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Z0-9.-]+\.(?:[A-Z]{2}|com|org|net|gov|mil|biz|info|mobil|name|aero|jobs|museum)$
    Like the above example, I would like a regexp that would allow me to specify the particular domain extensions that I am looking for ONLY, instead of being a generic one that allows all valid email addresses to pass through.
    I have attached my java code that I am using at the moment below. For some reason, when I submit a command line argument of "[email protected]", I am always getting an output of "[email protected] is valid ? false" . Why is that? I can't figure this out, and would appreciate any help on this. I hope this question is clear to everyone.
    Thanks in advance to all who reply.
    package com.email;
    public class Email {
             * @param args
            public static void main(String[] args) {
                    // TODO Auto-generated method stub
                    if( args.length == 0 ) {
                          System.err.println( "Usage: Email [...]" );
                          System.exit( 99 );
                    for( int i = 0; i < args.length; i++ ) {
                            try {
                                    System.out.println( args[i] + " is valid ? " + emailVerify( args[i] ));
                            catch( Exception e ) {
                                    System.out.println(args[i] + " : " + e.getMessage());
            public static boolean emailVerify(String email){
                    String regexp = "^[A-Za-z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Za-z0-9.-]+\\.(?:[A-Za-z]{2}|ca|uk|au)$]";
           if (email != null) {
                return email.matches(regexp);
           } else return false;
    }

    I wouldn't bother with a regex, but I guess ymmv. I think this is much easier to read and understand:
    private final boolean isInValidDomain(final String emailAddress) {
        if (emailAddress.endsWith(".ca")) return true;
        if (emailAddress.endsWith(".on.ca")) return true;
        // etc...
        return false;
    }Depending on the number of tests and how often you'll change, you may want to put them in a Database/File and read them into a collection to iterate over.

    I cannot receive a verification email from icloud on my comcast email account.  I have tried looking in spam, going to appleid and asking to resend the verification email many times, and I get nothing.  Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Most likely it is blocked on server level, you need to go to account settings and unblock everything that has word apple in it. Also just to make sure, verify that you didn't misspell your e-mail address.

  • Blocking certain emails

    I get junk mail all the time and i was wondering if i could block specific email addresses (mac os 10.4.3)

    Since spammers don't provide a valid sending or return email address and are constantly changing the bogus email address used (much of the same junk that appears to be sent by a different email address are being sent by the same person and computer), this is waste of time and can't be done with any email client anyway.
    This can only be done at the incoming mail server level by your ISP or email account provider.
    Do you automatically render all HTML received and/or do you provide this email address when making online purchases, for any website access if required or for any other "public" purpose?
    Regarding automatically rendering all HTML received, your email address can be logged as a "known good" address by a spammer if the spammer includes any embedded images or objects with HTML that must be rendered from a remote server. If the Mail.app junk filter automatically marks a message as junk, any embedded images or objects will not be rendered when the message is opened but if a junk message is not automatically marked as junk and contains embedded images or objects and it is opened, you can be revealing that your email address is valid to the spammer causing you to receive even more spam. Spammers also sell/trade their lists of "known good" email addresses so it becomes an endless cycle.
    Does your ISP or email account provider include a method to forward any spam received to them with long headers shown for the received message? If so, your ISP or email account provider can then determine the computer IP address where the messages originated and block that IP address from being able to send messages to any email address in your ISP's or email account provider's domain.
    If you are providing this email address for any online purchases, website access or for any other public purpose where this email address can be harvested by spammers, you need to have a private and public email address. Use the private email address to exchange email with family and friends ONLY. Get a free Hotmail or Yahoo account/address with webmail access only to be used for public purposes.
    Once the cat is out of the bag, it is too late so this may require cancelling this email address and getting a new "private" address along with not automatically rendering all HTML received.
