ICloud is dead again.

Once again, Apple is asking me to login with my user name and password... then telling me there's a problem. Not recognizing me. Won't let me access my Mail. Happy Cyber Monday, Apple!!! Can you please send Google's number to me (using my gmail address, of course)?

I too seem to have no problem with contacts, calendar, etc. It's the docs that are problems. One post I saw on here implied that if you have a copy of a file on your computer, and you download from icloud, you should not save it as the computer based file. until you've opened it and it is correct. That makes sense even if iCloud gets fixed. I was fortunate that the doc I had gottenf rom the cloud was in my downloads folder. Makes me think that perhaps, I had beenw orking on the downloaded doc all the time and the one on the computer was not changed. That is part of the confusion. There are no work flow instructions for the cloud. One has to figure it out for one's self. Of course, one of the things I do not understand is why the automatic synching cannot be worked out for the MAC as well as iOS devices. But then what would assure the docs would not get corrupted to unusable status?

    You're not going to be able to: you can't merge accounts or transfer iTunes purchases from one Apple ID to another: but there is no problem about using two IDs.
    Use your ex-MobileMe email address (which is also an Apple ID) for iCloud for syncing email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and PhotoStream.
    Use your other Apple ID as before for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match.
    There's no conflict about doing this, and you won't even notice as Keychain will log you in with the correct ID in each case. It's also better security not to have your iTunes login also your email address, given the number of complaints about hacked iTunes accounts.

    The phone will automatically re-appear when it connects to the Internet. However, don't get your hopes up, as thieves know this & will make sure your phone never re-connects so you can locate it.

    As I wrote Apple will diagnose an Apple product even if it is out of warranty for free. That should be your first step to find out if the problem is the battery or something else.
    Once you have Apple telling you a 7 month old battery is defective (if that turns out to be the case)  then it becomes a game of horse trading. You'll need to speak to the tech and when he tells you there is nothing he can do you will need to speak to the tech manager and when she says most likely there is nothing they can do you go to the store manager, etc.  It is unlikely (though possible) that they will give in easily you need to be firm, polite and let on that you're willing to accept a partial reimbursement.
    So again the first step is to find out what is wrong.

    When you say you tried holding both buttons, did you mean you held both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appeared, ignoring the red slider if that appears?  If so, exactly what happens?
    You may need to take the iPad and charger to an Apple store genius bar to be tested by the techicians.

    Reboot the computer once.
    Sign out from Creative Cloud and Sign in .
    Important : Try to launch Lightroom CC apps from Apps tab menu. :

    This won't be real-time as you record, but you could tweak the EQ in real-time after the recording thus:
    Record what you want to tweak into GB with no effects.
    Solo the track and output it into something like Audacity.
    Start Audacity recording, then play your track in GB as you make those tweaks. That's what Audacity will record.
    Get that file from Audacity and put it into GB, then you'll have that effect.
    Sorry if it's complicated, but that's what came to mind. Hope it works.

  • Nokia 'repairs' - N8 dead again

    Hi all,
    When you return your dead phone to a dealer (O2 in my case) it gets sent off for repair. Do they really repair them or just re-flash the firmware?
    So far I've had 1 replacement handset and 1 'repair', but I still I can't seem to get an N8 that works for more than a few weeks before it totally dies (even 3 fingered salute doesn't do anything).
    It died again today - guess I'll be back at the O2 shop tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to ensure they do more than just re-flash the firmware?

    Before you send in for repair, do the following:
    1) Dial *#06# and get the IMEI number.
    2) Loosen the Torx screw on either side just slightly.  And pick a position to remember, like one of the 6 pointed legs to point straight up or split.
    When you get the phone back, if the IMEI number is different, then you got a replacement phone.
    If the Torx screws are still loose the way you did them, then they simply reflashed the phone.
    Hope this helps you in determining if O2 is doing anything at all.

  • Shuffle dead (again)

    My ipod shuffle is showing no status lights, battery or otherwise.
    I think that I left it on by mistake after a run last night. When I saw the switch in the on (shuffle play) position I thought "Well I better plug it in because the battery is surely drained" When I plugged it in to the usb port to charge nothing happened. No orange light, no green light, nothing.
    I opened the ipod update utility to see if running it would help but it doesn't recognize it and neither does iTunes.
    This is my second shuffle, the last one stopped working after less than a month of use, so this is quite frustrating. Are these things really this delicate or am I just having extremely bad luck here?
    If anyone has any ideas on what I could try to revive this shuffle please let me know. I really don't want to exchange it for another one with Apple because I am not sure that the replacement would last any longer than this one did.

    Do you protect the Shuffle with a Sport Case when you run? I suspect the Shuffle is quite vulnerable to perspiration leaking in at the USB or headphone connections.
    Regarding your problem -- have you tried turning the Shuffle OFF for five (or so) seconds, and then back ON -- that often brings my Shuffle back from the dead.

  • ICloud mail down again?

    For the last few Day's I have not been able to sign in om my mail account (me.com). when will Apple have solved it's problems?

    It's down for me as of this morning. Can't access mail through icloud.com, through my iMac or through my iPad. It just spins and spins and spins. Wife is using iCloud on same internet connection - no problems. All of my devices were working fine yesterday, but today everythign is slow.
    I really wish Apple would update the system status to indicate the problem. It's definitely not on my end, and I cannot use Mail at all.

  • MobileMe Mail Notifications on iPhone DEAD again!

    had about a week of NO notifications of new mobileme email on my iphone (had to open mail and update to even see if there were new messages). It cleared up for about a week, and now today it is broken again.
    Really a shame how google push notifications are reliable, update instantly, and are more stable than APPLE's OWN mail product on its own platform.

    On main screen select SETTINGS icon (Looks like a gear)- , page down to SOUNDS and select it, page down to NEW MAIL, then set the "ring tone".   the unfortunate thing with iphone is you cannot adjust volumes of the various settings (mail, ringtone, text, etc) independently- REALLY aggravating if you need to hear phone call in the night- but do not want to hear 53 junk emails coming to the phone!!

  • M:Vision Radio is DEAD AGAIN!!! I think Creative has a bigger problem on their hands

    I got my first Vision in MARCH it worked well then after 2 weeks the radio stopped working all I got was static; then a couple weks later I had a accident with the Vision and it broke and in early MAY I went to Circuit City and got another one. It worked fine and then almost 3 weeks after that the radio stoped working again. All I get now is static, now this can't be a simple coincidence and from reading other people posts in the forum they're havng the same exact proplems. I think there is a defect in the Vision M radio because I can't seem to figure out what the problem is...Now what the **bleep** should I do, because the main reason why I got this thing is because is because of the radio... Should I return it to the store and get another one...

  • ISight Mysteriously Came to Life but its Dead Again

    I have a MacBook that is now about three weeks old. The ISIght has never worked and usually I get no green light and all programs that use it say thewre is no camera attached. I have spoken to Tech Support who went thorugh all the possible fixes (resetting PRAM, etc) and nothing works and told me I will have to return the unit for service (I couldn't exchange it because I bought it one the road.)
    I was planning to do so some time soon but last night, after installing Parallels and fooling around with a USB scanner in XP, I noticed that the ISight was listed in the USB device tree under Parallels and sure enought the camera was working fine and I was able to take photos.
    Today, it is gone again like before. Anybody have any ideas
    ?

    This may be just a voodoo response, but it worked for me. Apparently, iSight is controlled by the extension /System/Library/Extensions/Apple_iSight.kext. My iSight wasn't working today (although, weirdly, the green light was on), so I removed the file Apple_iSight.kext from the Extensions folder (which required my first giving myself the appropriate permission to read and write to it) and stuck the file onto my desktop. Then I rebooted the MacBook. Then I tried to open an iSight application, which, naturally didn't work (although the green light was still on). Then I put Apple_iSight.kext back into the Extensions folder and rebooted. Surprise! The green light was now off! I opened up Photo Booth and Quicktime and iSight was working perfectly, as if nothing had ever happened!
    Go figure!
