ICloud keeping ghost google calendar around

After upgrading to OSX 10.10 I've been noticing a duplicate of my calendars. A "ghost" calendar from my old Calendar setup (a Google calendar import) shows up as a calendar member of my iCloud calendars (it's greyed out instead of the other calendars on my iCloud account.) It shows up on my desktop no matter how many times I un-sync and re-sync my iCloud. It does not show up in my iCloud via the website, so I can't delete it that way.
Any ideas?

Hi Ray Walker,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you would like to delete this specific calendar from Calendar on your Apple computer. Please follow the instructions in the attached article to complete this process.

  • My iPhone won't sync calendar to iCloud, only to Google calendar, which I've never used. Events from iCloud sync to the phone and to Google.  Huh???

My iPhone 3GS (ios 5.1) won't sync calendar to iCloud, only to Google calendar, which I never authorize or use.  Yet when I entere an event on the iCloud calendar, it syncs to the iPhone (and to Google calendar) just fine.  Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iCloud cannot sync with Google calendars, so it would seem that you may be using the wrong calendar account. Click on the calendar button in the top right hand corner of the calendar app and check which calendar you are adding your events too.

  • ICloud not accepting Google Calendar Invites

I am having problems accepting invites received from Google calendar in iCal on my iMac. Every time I recieve an invitation in Mail and try to add it to iCal, I receive the error below. The invite will be added to my calendar but will not sync back to iCloud and is eventually deleted from iCal on my iMac. The only way that I can get these invites to work is to accept them on either my iPad or my iPhone. Invitations that I create on my iMac sync to iCloud with no problems. How do I get this to work properly?

Same problem here.  iCal seems to completely ignore my default calendar setting.  I have yet to discern a pattern as to when it decides to use my default and when it decides to use my google calendar as the default.  I think that when I receive an invitation on my google email id, it decides to use the corresponding calendar.
I've turned off all of my auto-accept settings in both mac mail/ical and in google calendar.  So I now accept all of my invitations manually.  Every time I accept I have to go and open it to see what calendar it ended up on and change if necessary.  But then I get the error you reported.  And I then often end up with 2 entries.  One on my iCloud calendar and another on my google calendar which I can't delete.
Drives me crazy.  Next step, I think I'll try accepting all my invitations on my iPhone.

  • Can Icloud sync with google calendar and gmail?

We use google calendar at my office and share it with our staff. I thought we would be able to sync those calendars with icloud and google. Before icloud, I set up an exchange account on Ipad, iphone, imac and it works well for calendar and email.  I thought I could replace that sync with icloud, but it seems to not be designed that way. Should google calendar and gmail users stick with google?

    THANK YOU ithos!
I have searched and searched to try and find a way to sync my Google calendars with iCloud.
You don't exactly say how to make this happen, but you gave me enough nuggets to put it together.  Thank you for responding and helping me put it all together.
I have 5 Google calendars (Family, Work, Church, Extended Family Birthdays, US Holidays).  My wife, two different assistants and I all share and update the calendars.  I want all this to continue since it affects every aspect of my life.  I sit at a PC at work and need to be able to view all those calendars during the work week, I also need to be able to view and edit from work (pc), iPhone, wife's iPhone, assistants computers, and our home (mac).  So, staying Google - for now, is what I need.
I just upgraded to the 4S and Siri is one of the main reasons.  Without iCloud syncing with my calendars Siri is USELESS with calendaring stuff.  So, I have to have Siri able to view my calendars as well.
So, with that info, here's how I got it all to work.
For those of you who need a start to finish explanation, here it is:
    1. Computer running the OS Lion (mine's an iMac)
    2. Open iCal on the Mac
    3. Open your Google Calendar
    4. In iCal go to iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts.
Make sure iCloud is listed under Accounts.  This was my default, so I didn't have to make any changes.  If yours lists something different, sorry.  I don't know how to change it.  But I believe this is a KEY component as ithos above mentions that the subscription be 'located' on iCloud.
    5. In iCal go to Calendar --> Subscribe
This will force a pop up asking you for the URL of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to.
Where do you find this URL?    I found this article from 2006 that gives the low down:
    http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/13/howto-subscribe-to-a-google-calendar-using-ical/
Don't worry, even though it's from 2006 it still works.  Here are the steps in a nutshell, but you should read the short article so you don't miss anything.
    6. In Google Calendar you need to dig into EACH calendar that you want to 'Subscribe to' and find the unique URL for that calendar.  This will allow you to then force iCal to look at and scrape the data from this calendar as often as every 5 minutes.  As you follow the articles steps (they are very easy) then your iCal calendar will populate with the Google calendar data from the calendar you subscribed to.  I had to do this for EACH calendar I wanted to show up on my iCal calendar.
    7.  I then grabbed my iPhone and asked Siri, "What does my day look like tomorrow?"  She responded with all my iCal / iCloud (which are all subscribed to my Google calendars) calendar data.  I smiled
This ONLY allows the Google info to be pushed to iCal / iCloud.  It doesn't allow the info to go the other way.
It won't let Siri manipulate the iCal/iCloud calendar or the Google calendar.  But at least Siri can see what's already there.  So, a step in the right direction.
    Good luck!

  • Icloud keeps inserting fake calendar events and fake contacts - looks like test data

In the last few days, meetings for someone in  Palo Alto and contacts with fake data [ (555) 555-xxxx ] have been showing up on my wife's iPhone.  It looks like Apple test data.
    Any ideas??

Are you sure no one else is using the same iCloud account?  That would account for it (no pun intended).

  • Android calendar on shows a subset of what's on Google calendar

I have seen so many different posts regarding calendar problems that I'm sorry if this answer is already out there, but I can't find it by searching so I'm going to ask for myself:
I have a Google Calendar that works fine when I create/update entries from the web. I do not use Google Calendar Sync or any other SW to communicate with my Android phone (Droid 2) and I do not have/use Outlook.  My phone calendar is set up and it shows everything correctly for the current and past 6 weeks.  Updates made on either calendar (web and phone) appear on the other in less than a minute, so the basic Sync function seems to have the capability to make the correct updates.
I created my Internet Google Calendar around Sep 2010 (when I got this phone) and I created past events for record keeping purposes (I added details of a vacation in 2009, a business trip in Spring 2010, etc),  I also created several recurring events that extend for a year or more into the future (like music lessons and task deadlines).  All of these are clearly visible on my Google calendar when I access it from the web and when I access it on my phone via the Internet.
However, when I use the onboard calendar function it does not show any events older than 7 weeks except those that were created as recurring events.  It also show only 1 recurring event starting past this week--it loses recurring events that start in the past and extend past next week along with losing recurring events that start and stop completely in the future.
The net result of all of this is to render that onboard calendar function pretty useless--to get an accurate view on my calendar I have use a shortcut to access my Google Calendar through the Internet.  I am perplexed why there should be so many users with documented problems related to syncing their web Google Calendar with their phone calendars on a platform developed by Google. Similar calendar complaints seems to fill the Google forums from 2009 through today with not much in the way of solutions or work arounds offered. My old Palm Tungsten PDA may not be able to sync wirelessly, but when it did sync it had all my events,
Can anyone think of anything I could be doing wrong that causes these problems?  Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome these problems?
(I've already spoken with Verizon and Motorola support:  1) I already tried completely deleting all calendar data from my phone and reacquiring via a new setup; 2) I've reset my phone to factory setting and reloading everything; 3) I had them send me a replacement phone in case it was a programming error on my phone but the replacement acted exactly the same way.)

I have been researching this problem since it first surfaced with the 2.2 Froyo updated on the Droid X for me.   It is unbelievably frustrating.  I basically run my life with my calendar, and also use it as a journal to document what I do.   There are two fundamental problems:
    1 - the sync only will bring in appointments to about five or six weeks prior to the current date, not any in the further past;
2 - the sync hangs up and fails to complete the synchronization.
I have read hundreds of posts related to these issues on this Verizon forum, and also on Droid Forums.   Scores of customers seem to experience these issues.
When I first got the Droid X, I noted the failure to sync past appointments, and finally after many hours on the phone with Verizon support and reading many posts, I learned the trick of manually setting the phone date to some time in the past, since it will sync future events to the gmail calendar.  That had issues as well, as it used to only sync 1 year into the future, so I had to keep resetting the phone date to past dates one year at a time to rebuild my calendar from 2005.  This no longer works because of problem #2 - synchronize stops and fails.   Verizon phone support admitted that they have had complaints about this problem as well.
I have checked all Accounts settings, auto sync, power widget (trick from the developers forum), factory reset and rebuild of environment, removal of possibly interfering market applications such as task killers and virus protectors, system recovery utility->clear cache partition, etc.   I have tried everything that I have found a suggestion for or thought might solve the issue, all to no avail.
At one point I thought it was a Google issue, but when I setup a new Macintosh computer, iCal synchronized every single appointment and event back 7 years and forward from the current date flawlessly to my Google gmail calendar.   The synch on the Droid X will run for perhaps 10 seconds and then the little icon with the arrows stops spinning and it just hangs there, having brought in only 15% or so of my thousands of appointments from my Google gmail calendar.
Maybe it is a size problem, since I have so many appointments.  Or maybe not.  No one seems to know.  No response from Google support.   I have posted extensively about this issue on Droid Forums (username Tedmeister there) if anyone is interested in looking at those posts (and the many folks experiencing similar issues).   Verizon support is clueless, and only suggests another factory reset "try and see if it works".  Sigh.
The problem has gotten MUCH worse since the 2.3 Gingerbread update, as well as some additional handset problems being introduced by that update.  Some of these Verizon has also admitted knowing about, and just say 'Google is working on the fix'.
I am pretty much at the end of the rope on the calendar sync issue.   The only thing I have not yet tried is to hurl the Droid X through the window and go buy an iPhone  :-)
So anyone out there who has looked into this deeply, or has any inside information about the causes and/or solution, I'd love to hear form you.

  • Once I have synced my Google calendar to iCal, can I turn off syncing and save all info in iCal?

I have been using Google Calendar, and syncing info from it to my Mac, iPad and iPhone. Now that all the info I originally entered into Google Calendar is on my Apple devices, can I turn off syncing it and save all the events, birthdays, etc. that were put into iCal up to this point? I have only been adding to my iCal via the Mac, iPad or iPhone for several months now, so it seems silly to keep using Google Calendar.

Unless you have backed up your iCal data, there is no way to retrieve the now missing data. To easily back up your calendar data, simply choose the Back up Database… option under the File menu in iCal.
Microsoft cautions users that deletion of the Entourage calendar in iCal—without first disabling the synchronization function with Entourage—will result in exactly the outcome you see.
If you have not subsequently synchronized with .Mac since you deleted the iCal calendar, you can selectively restore calendar files as a collection of calendars from .Mac by using the Reset Sync Data… option in the .Mac preference pane by launching System Preferences, pressing the .Mac icon then the Advanced tab, and waiting for your client list to update. Once you've done that, press the Reset Sync Data… button, choose Calendars from the drop down menu and pick the option to replace the data on your Macintosh with data stored on the .Mac servers.

  • How can I import my Google calendar to iCloud calendar via web or ios?

I've decided I want to move from contacts/calendar in gmail to icloud. I was going to do the same with mail, but it seems iCloud doesn't have the level of functionality that gmail does.
My problem is that all instructions for importing my gmail calendar into icloud require some sort of desktop (I use PC) mail/calendar program. I don't use one. I manage my mail & calendars purely on my iphone or on the website(s). How can I import my .ics file into iCloud calendar via either the iCloud web interface or via my iPhone?

The only possible way I could imagine it might work ( can't guarantee it ) is as followed.
#1 Your Google Calendar is synced with your iphoen and you go into settings to turn it off.
#2 It will ask you: "What would you like to do with excisting local calendars on your iphone", you click keep them on iphone.
#3 Now you sync your empty icloud calendar with your iphone and hopefully the local calendar would sync on your icloud calendar?
Might work...not sure, play around with the settings in the iphone calendar app etc...

  • Can I import my Google Calendar manually to icloud?

I was able to export my google calendar to a file.  unzipped it.  Now I find that ICloud does NOT show an Import feature on my Windows computer. Can I import this file to icloud manually somehow?
    Thanks!

  • Share iCloud calendar with Google Calendar

Ok, so I'v moved all my contacts, email and calendars to iCloud and everything is wonderfull.
I share a few calendars with my girlfriend and she is sharing her study calendar with me.
We have a shared calendar set up, where we enter when our son is in daycare and we have another shared calendar with things we do together.
    Now comes the tricky question:
How do we share our icloud calendar showing our sons day in the daycare, with our parents who don't have any Apple devices and only uses google calendar?
Reason for this is, we live in the same city, and sometimes they want to go and pick up our son. With a shared calendar like that, they would just be able to write a note in their synced google calendar saying that they are going to pick up our son, and we would see it in our synced icloud calendar.
Also, my girlfriend only have an old-school cellphone. She is now finnaly getting a smartphone through her work.
Only problem I see comming with this, is that her phone is not going to be an iPhone.
So how do we keep sharing all our icloud calendars with her on a windows phone 7.5?
Is the Apple ecosystem finaly getting so clamped up, that it won't allow users who happen to have frinds or family without i-products, to share their life with them?
As everything stands now, I'm getting the feeling that Apple demands me to buy Apple products to all my family and frinds, just so that we can still interact and plan our different lives through shared calendars on icloud.
    Can this really be right?
I hope I'm just missing something. Cause I really thought, that icloud would be this outstanding product which would make my cloud-life the easiest thing in the world. Instead, it really seems to be a step back, in the cloud evolution.

    Thanks for your answer..
it dosn't really solve my problem, since I'm not interested in only sharing a calender on the web.
My wish is to sync my calendar with friends and family that are not using icloud, and not using apple product at all.
For example: My girlfriend, how finaly is getting a smartphone, needs some way to add and edit our shared calendar, so that we can both enter and edit appointments.
Same goes for my parrents, that whants to be able to set appointments of when they want to pick up our son at the daycare.
All this is possible, and has been possible for ages with other online calendar systems, so why does apple take a step down the evolutionstaires by disabling such a great feature?
Though MobileMe was not perfect, it did infact make this possible as I remember, so why can't this be done in iCloud?
You can subscribe to CalDav on your i-device, but you can't share one with friends, in what world is that logic?

  • Help! I synced my iCal from my old iPhone to iCloud. It worked great. I've done this because I'm switching to a Samsung phone and need to sync my iCal to my Google calendar. In attempting to do so today, my iCal is empty. How can I retrieve my iCal info??

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:
    http://tinypic.com/r/107quxu/7
As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • How do i get my google calendar back on pc icloud deleted it

Can I keep my contacts on the ipad but not have icloud sync the calendar? I need to get google calendar back on my PC so I can sync with my Droid for my business. icloud calendar does not have reminders which I really need on my phone. Does anyone know how to get my calendar back please?

    Hello Ronbon13,
Thank you for the details of the calendar issue you are experiencing on your iPhone 4S.  On an iOS device, you can configure previous events to sync to your device in the Calendar settings.
If you go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, you can set your calendars to sync "All Events" or events ranging from 2 weeks back to 6 months back.
Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
    iPhone - Calendar settings

  • ICloud for PC not compatible with Google calendar sync?

I have a PC (Win7), a MacBook Pro, an iPhone and an iPad 2. Since MobileMe stopped their calendar sync, I have used 2-way Google calendar sync between all of my devices successfully to keep my calendar updated on all devices.  I continued to use MobileMe to keep my contacts synced, but that option is ending this week, so I purchased CodeTwo to sync my contacts via iCloud. I installed Code Two and the iCloud control panel on my PC, and set them to sync only contacts, and blam ... my PC calendar no longer syncs to my Google calendar. All of the other calendars are syncing to Google and each other.
My PC calendar is the most important one and I need it to sync to all devices. I use Google calendar sync since it handles the Outlook group meeting invitations I receive & send through my workplace seamlessly (and iCloud does not).  So using iCloud for my calendar is not an option.
    How do I fix this?

After about an hour on the phone with Apple support, we discovered that somehow there was more than one calendar - one that I generally use and two marked archive.  One was actually my Outlook archive folder, one was the Outlook default calendar (which was also marked archive) which is the one that WAS syncing with my Google calendar (but that we couldn't see), and the third calendar which is the one that I thought wasn't syncing with Google Calendar.
So now my question has changed - where did this mystery calendar come from.  At one time I did have MobileMe installed on my computer for both calendars and contacts.  I stopped using MobileMe for my calendar when it stopped syncing automatically and I uninstalled MobileMe today as part of our troubleshooting.  Is it possible that when I installed the iCloud control panel on my PC and set it to sync contacts only, that it picked up the MobileMe calendar?  In any event, I need to get rid of the unexpected "archive" folder and start syncing Outlook's default calendar.  Any ideas how I do that?
There are days when computers completely drain me.

  • How can I edit iCal server addresses in Mountain Lion? I keep getting an error with regards to my google calendar and I understand that the way to fix the problem is adjust the server address, but I cannot access it because the preferences are restrictive

How can I edit iCal server addresses in Mountain Lion?
I keep getting an error message with my google calendar, and I heard that if I delete the extra slash at the end of the address the problem will be fixed. But the iCal account preferences take me to system preferences > accounts every time I want to edit the account.
Does anyone know where I can edit the server address?

You should ask in the iCloud forum, this is for iMacs. https://discussions.apple.com/community/icloud/icloud_on_my_mac

  • TS3999 how can I sync my icloud calendar with a google calendar

how can I sync my icould calendar with a google calendar?

The calendars reside on different servers and as far as I know there isn't a way to sync between them.  You can, of course, add your Google calendar to your devices and continue to use Google to keep it in sync.  If you open the Calendars app on your devices and tap Calendars on the top left, then tap Show All Calendars, your Google and iCloud calendar events will appear together your calendar.  You will only need to decide which one you wish to use as your default when adding new enteries, then set this in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar.
