ICloud keeps saying username and password incorrect.
One minute fine, now all my devices have the same issue. Cannot Get Mail and then asking for password. Anyone else? Only way to retrieve email is online and the password works. ugh
Same problem here. I just switched to iCloud from MobileMe this weekend and it's been an absolute nightmare. MobileMe always worked fine. Here is what my problems have been so far.
1) After switch to iCloud - Mail.App on Lion worked fine, iPad and iPhone worked fine. Outlook 2010 on Win 7 refused to connect, kept asking me for user name and password. Read like 100 articles of people with same problems. Checked server settings, checked SSL setting, blah blah.. Nothing worked.. Finally, tried the suggestion of setting a new password. Sweet, that worked!! All was well again.
2) Fast forward a day - Outlook 2010 on Win 7 refuses to connect again. iPad, iPhone work, Mail.App gave same error as Outlook once, re-entered password, all was well. I was able to log into iCloud.com and see mail as well. Again, reset my password after hours of screwing with it. All was working again.
3) Last night, checked my mail from my iPhone. )(&$)(&@$)(&!#, Username or password incorrect. WRONG.. Go into settings, set my password, it comes back with the three checks for validating the password, it can see my storage, everything else iClould related works just fine. Open mail, bad username or password.
4) Woke up this morning, same problem still. Now, if I go to iCloud.com and log in, I get a failure to open mail if I try to use mail, just get an error that mail has failed to load and do I want to report it to Apple. Still gives same error on iPhone. Yet, get this.. Works just fine in Outlook 2010. Can send and receive mail no problem. I tried deleting my account on the phone and readding it, turning mail off and on. Everything works except mail still.
HELP!!!!! This blows...

One of my clients is having intermitting issues with her iCal on her Macbook. Her iCal is connected to her iCloud account along with her contacts, she access the iCloud data via her iPhone and her iPad.
The syncing between her devices with the iCloud gives her no issues when it comes to her contacts but her iCloud on her Macbook is causing a lot of grief. She can accept and add iCal events most of the time but every now and then she gets the error "iCal can't log into your iCloud account becasue your password may be incorrect. The server did not recognize your username or password for the account iCloud. Make sure you enter them correctly". Here is a picture of the error.
I can confirm her username and password is correct by clicking ok to the error and making an event in the calander or making a new contact in her contacts and confirm on icloud.com that the new additions did make it to the iCloud.
On top of the above error she also gets the following error intermittently (seems to happen the most when she attempts to remove a calander item). The error is "The server responded with an error. The request for "Meeting name" in "category" in account iCloud failed. The server responded with 500 to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation. Stay offline/Revert to Server/Go Online" once more below is a picture

The password is the same, the mail address has to be an iCloud address (Mac, Me or iCloud) which may or may not be the same as the address you use to log into iCloud.

Have a disabled iPad2 that's been wiped. Using current IOS system. Trying to backup from icloud. Enter username and password - OK. Select backup date - OK. I'm then presented with an old username that of course doesn't match my password. Now what?

I have developed a problem all of a sudden.
I've had my iphone since Chrismas and had no bother accessing emails, even in different countries, but one night this week I got a message saying I couldn't access emails as username and password were incorrect. I have not changed anything on my aol account or my iphone at this stage.
I've looked on all the forums and this seems a common problem both in UK and US with different email clients. I have looked through the apple manuals online but they are plop and no help at all.
I've tried reentering my details on the aol preset and manually on "other" tabs and still no joy! I've reset my iphone, deleted and reset my email settings and still no luck. I've tried using an edge connection and wireless connection and nothing seems to work.
Anyone got any ideas??
Without being able to access emails, I really don't see any point in keeping the iphoneProblem solved! My email works again now. I think it was only a temporary problem. It happened in whole one day only

I have been using THUNDERBIRD for more than 10 years, changed and installed into many desktops and laptops. But this time, after I installed in my new desktop WIN8, I cannot set up any of my IMAP accounts. They are not gmail/yahoo. They are my business emails. But the settings I have been using is the same and not changed, tried uninstall, reinstall, I'm copying the exact settings that I have on my laptop (which is working perfectly fine). It kept saying "username or password is wrong"!!! My username is the full email address which I put it correctly. The port is the same port I used on the other computers. I just don't understand why is this happening...my laptop is using WIN8 as well...
I can install and use with MAILBIRD, so the setting are all correct. But I just can't set any of my 5 accounts (same domain) up on this THUNDERBIRD this time...it's really frustrating.

MAILBIRD uses port 993 for incoming mail but THUNDERBIRD uses port 143
When uses 143, it kept " checking capabilities...."
then I changed to port 993 (like in MAILBIRD), it said "connected to.....mail," but then "timed out"

Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. Gmail incorrectly saying username and password is wrong... found solution!
Set up gmail on your phone normally. It will tell you username and/or password not correct, or some other error message. Save account.
Log into Gmail from a computer
>Account Settings
>Security
> Turn OFF 2-step identification
your emails will instantly start appearing on your iphone!
If you are still having issues, make sure SSL is turned on. Find out how to do this in Apple Support.hi Lawrence I agree with your assesment, that it's critical to have but it's causing trouble with a lot of our mail. i'm having the same issue and have been through all the google documentation. I'm a huge apple guy, but I think the problem is inside our macs or apple mail, not with the google setup.

Yesterday (10/21/13) my iphone 3 stopped receiving emails from my verizon account and error message says "the user name or password for verizon in incorrect," even though I know the user name and password are correct and I am receiving emails from verizon on my ipad and I mac. In addition, after I "reset." the phone by pressing the "home" and "off" buttons together until the apple logo appeared, I lost all of the emails that were on the iphone's mailboxes. What is wrong and how do I fix it?
Here is the solution given to me by a very helpful Verizon phone agent. Go to your Verizon mail account under settings. Under Incoming Mail server, change host name to pop.verizon.net.
Under Outgoing Mail Server, change host name to smtp.verizon.net.
Make sure Use SSL is on for Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers.
She said the above is the solution that has worked for most people who are having trouble receiving and or sending Verizon emails from their Iphones since Monday October 21. She said that if this solution did not work, it is then an Apple problem and I would then need to go to Apple's email client support for troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages (for MAC in my case). After writing down all of the passwords and configurations for verizon email currently on my phone, including the new host names above, I ended up deactiving my verizon email account and then reimputing all of the passwords, configurations, ... . It worked! My verizon email was back and running. -

Email says username and password are incorrect
called support. after about an hour still no email. i removed, synched, and put in manually all info. I called my ISP and they wouldn't help me. Says it's apples problem. I have even searched Google over the last week and i still can't figure out what's going on. Does anyone out there have a clue what the problem is?

Get address for your provider: Delete mail acct. set-up new one, go to next page, enter outgoing server address from provider under "Host" and click done, worked on my ipad and iphone..:-) I entered smtp.att.yahoo.com under Host, clicked done, and it worked. Site has other providers addresses. I use At&T..this happened after I lost it on an upgrade. I could access it using 3G, and the computer, just not Iphone or Ipad...good luck. -

Any suggestions?The outgoing mail server should be smtp.aol.com. This is the correct server setting. Try using another server under Other Server. Turn the Primary Server Off and use another server under Other SMTP Servers.
