ICloud Keychain Reset

I get a message that iCloud Keychain was reset every few minutes. I have to go into System Preferences and enter my iCloud Security Code. Keychain works for a few minutes. It accepts my code and shows the check mark next to Keychain. Then I get the same message a few minutes later.
No changes have been made on any of my other devices, so not sure why it's getting reset. I just checked and it is happening on multiple Macs. Keychain on iOS devices has no problem staying on.

After continued research, I finally found what I think is the best article in Apple Support on this issue. It explains how to reset the iCloud Keychain. The two lessons that I learned from this were:
1. Always use your iPhone as the reference phone number so you can get the proper support from Apple (I had listed a landline)
2. Always be sure to establish your iCloud Keychain security code when you set up iCloud Keychain.

  • ICloud Keychain was reset

Every time I turn on the iCloud keychain toggle in my iPhone 4S  7.0.6 iCloud settings five minutes later it turns off automatically with a pop up saying your iCloud Keychain has been reset and your iPhone is no longer participating. What causes this reset and has anyone else had this problem? Any feedback or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

  • I'm unable to access my iCloud Keychain, or add devices because I'm not receiving the verification number via phone as I put my Google Voice number.

I installed Mavericks, set up the iCloud keychain step by step. I was asked to link a phone number to it, and so I gave my Google Voice number. I know some systems don't allow for these kinds of numbers to work, but usually it's a two step verification - You put in your number, they send you a message with a code to verify this is indeed your number and you put in the correct phone number and voila it's linked.
    A) It automatically accepted my phone number as is without verifying it
    B) I'm not unable to verify my icloud Keychain account on other devices
Now the next step, for some reason I kept having pop-ups from keychain that asked me to put in passwords that over and over again. I couldn't find a solution so I re-installed Maveriks and did a time-machine reinstal. Which means now I can't verify access to iCloud keychain through any device at all. How can I reset everything and put in my real phone number?
I know my itunes/icloud user name and password and the 4 digit lock code for iCloud Keychain.
    Appreciate the help!

  • HT5834 can't turn off iCloud keychain on apple devices and can't get them to sync !

i could gey my apple devices to sync icloud keychains , nor could i get them to turn off icloud key chain.
Solution: Reset icloud keycahin using forgot passcode option, it will reset the entire icloud keycahin and bring every thing back to the way it is supposed to be. approve all the devices using the one used to reset, and you are all good to go !!

You're my best friend.  Seriously.  I've read virtually every thread I could find on this issue, and this is the only thing that worked.  Has been driving me bonkers since getting the iPhone 6 in September.  THANK YOU!!

  • ICloud Keychain passwords gone after erasing settings

    Hello fellow Apple Community users.
fter erasing settings from my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.2 to solve this problem: Today summary in iOS 8 not working correctly
all my Wifi passwords from iCloud Keychain were gone on all my devices.
Next to my iPhone 6 I own an iPad mini retina (iOS 8.0.2), a MacBook Pro Retina (10.9.5) and a Mac mini (10.9.5). On all these devices all my Wifi passwords were gone.
Today I read about problems concerning deleted files from iCloud drive after erasing an iOS device. Does anyone know whether this also affects iCloud Keychain? Did anyone have a similar experience?
    Regards
    Fennek

I just had the same problem today, this is crazy! I reset my iphone settings and now my mac lost all of its wifi passwords

  • Messages unusable when iCloud Keychain is enabled

Ok, searched everywhere, and can not find this specific issue anywhere.
I have a new MacBook Pro Retina (13")
Everything is working fine, however, when I have iCloud Keychain enabled, Messages becomes unusable. It works fine on my iPhone, iPad, iMac, but just this MacBook Pro.
Turning off iCloud Keychain on the MBP resolves the speed issue, but prevents me from having the benefit of the synced keychain.
Any thoughts? I thought it might have been that I was in a hotel, but even on 30+ meg internet, it is still an issue.
I even deleted my account on the Mac, made a new one, and, at first, seemed to solve the issue, but now a few days later, the problem is back.

The only way I was able to fix this on my iPhone 6  was to go to iCloud-> keychain in settings (which was as usual marked "pending") chose the "security code" option, ignored the box to enter numbers, scrolled down to "Forgot code", chose Reset, ignored dire warnings about replacing key chains, reset code, everything good. I did have to reset the keychain on my other devices but that was easy enough.
What's odd is that when you do this from your phone it replaces keychain info on iCloud  with that on your phone. Since my iPhone 6 was my most recent device I didn't really want to do that. So I looked for a similar path to "Forgot Code?" on my laptop which didn't seem to exist.
So there still seem to be implementation weirdnessess but this method seems to have worked. And so far every site I've tried on my laptop  that needs a password seems to be working

  • ICloud keychain not sync

My iCloud keychain doesn't sync on all my devices.
I've tried to fix my problem based on this Apple link Get help using iCloud Keychain - Apple Support before I post this question. I did turn off and on keychain on all devices many times with no luck.
The thing is I could get the first sync on any device if I approve with my security code but then it does not sync. By approving with another device, the keychain won't sync at all. With both way, my keychain won't get sync or update after the keychain is turned on.
Any idea how can I fix this problem?
I use Yosemite and iOS 8.1.1. Thank you.

Also, it seems if I turn off all of my devices, reset the keychain on one of them, populate it with passwords and credit cards, it syncs that data to every device I add afterwards. However, once I add one machine to the keychain, it stops adding new passwords to the icloud keychain and nothing new sync.

  • ICloud Keychain Bug - inherits setting of new machine

iCloud Keychain is a great idea that allows you to choose more complex, difficult to break passwords and keep them available for all you OSX Mavericks and iOS 7.0.3+ devices. Add this to Safari password suggestion tool, and you enhance security of your data tremendously. And so I happily upgraded my Macbook Pro and my iOS devices and changed my most important passwords. And the the big problem: I decided to upgrade the mac mini in my office. Problem is that, if you add a new mac to your collection, iCloud Keychain inherits the settings of the attached computer instead of asking, destroying all you have done before and making you reset all passwords, what may require hours of tedious work depending on your password collection.
    Bad Apple. Very bad.

You could try to find the old ID as explained here: try to find it as explained here: Apple ID: How to find your Apple ID.  If you find it, you would then have to reset the password as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password.
Or, you could just create a new Apple ID by going here: https://appleid.apple.com/account.
To create your iCloud account, you would then go to System Preferences>iCloud on the new Mac and sign in with the ID to create the account, then check the items you want to sync with iCloud.  Just be aware that each device/Mac can only create a maximum of three iCloud accounts.  If these have already been created on this Mac then you won't be able to create a new account without using a different iOS device running iOS 5 or higher (iPhoto, iPad, iPod touch) or Mac running OS X 10.7.5 or higher, if you have one.

  • ICloud Keychain - Works with iOS devices but having issues with Mavericks

Has anyone had an issue where the iCloud keychain will sync normally to iOS devices but not in Mavericks? It worked fine up until a day or two ago when I was forced to recreate my user profile. (a completely seperate issue forced it) Since then I've been rebuilding my profile but did not use the original Library files so as to avoid a reoccurance of the other problem.
Have tried multiple things including a complete reset (saving my keychain locally on an iPhone) and then reactivating. All passwords and CC information will sync normally to one of my other Macs and my iPad but my MacBook Air (with the new profile) won't cooperate. There are no errors or alerts and takes my security code to activate it. However, when I look in Safari it only pulls a few 'old' autofill passwords and no CC information.
Actually just tried loading my iCloud settings (including keychain) in the Admin account on the computer and it worked fine. So the issue appears to be limited to my new profile. Wondering if there's a keychain/preference file associated with Safari that's intereing with it receiving a clean sync from the Cloud. Ideas?

Just tried resetting my login.keychain and that did not fix the issue either.

  • Why am i getting icloud keychain verification codes when i didn't request any?

I just started getting multiple icloud keychaing verification codes and I don't have keychain enabled on any device that I know of. why am i getting these sent to me via txt?

Try going to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and delete the iCloud password.
    Try running Keychain First Aid.

  • Sync system and icloud keychains

    Hi,
I had to reset the network settings on my iPhone 5 and then I noticed it had deleted all my wifi passwords from iCloud Keychain.
Accessing the Keychain app on my Mac, I can see that all the passwords are still in my "system keychain", however, I cannot copy them to the "iCloud keychain".
Is there any way to copy or sync the "Airport network passwords" from the system keychain into the iCloud keychain?
    Thanks

Didn't it keep syncing with both iTunes and iCloud even after installing iTunes 11? (PC or Mac?)
Ever since iCloud came out in 2011 I've had a configuration where I sync some calendars with iCloud and one with Outlook via iTunes. Until today I didn't even realize they had removed the option from iTunes after 10.7 because I think it kept working even after the upgrade. (I guess the new UI wouldn't let me select that option, but since I already had it configured, I think it kept working that way.)
However, today I cycled my iCloud calendars off and then back on again to solve a different problem and then I was unable to turn on syncing with Outlook again. I stumbled across this article and it all came together: "iTunes 10.7 or earlier will allow you to enable iTunes sync for Calendars even if you are already using iCloud Calendar on your computer."
Since I think it was working even under iTunes 11, I'm considering restoring from a backup from a couple of days ago to see if that will restore the configuration I had. But you're making me wonder if that will work.

  • Keychain reset does not work

Can't reset my keychain. Just upgraded to Mavericks, had to restart for an iTunes update and everything went downhill from there.
dozens of applications ask for access to 'local items', my user password doesn't work and i tried a few other passwords that it might have been, but i know i used my user password before installing mavericks, but that's not working.
Went online to try to find answers, got pointed to the 'reset my default keychain', clicked it and the program asked for the password for 'local items' keychain, tried my user password again, didn't work. The 'Login' keychain is now gone completely, it disappeared. Clicking 'reset my default keychain' brings the popup 'specified keychain could not be found', so that won't work anymore.
Looked for some more answers, one pointed to deleting the keychain entirely, which i tried but the option to delete 'local items' is greyed out.
Attempted keychain first aid, it asks for a password to access 'local items'. after trying my user password again, it didn't work. now the first aid displays an error message every time i attempt a repair. here's the text from my latest attempt:
    Repair started
Checking keychain configuration for yousefshohayeb (user ID=501)
    Home directory is /Users/yousefshohayeb
    Checked login keychain
    Error: login keychain not found
Created a new empty “login” keychain.
    Checked password for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
Settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain may cause the keychain to be locked
    Current values: lockOnSleep=yes, autoLock=5 mins
Unable to change keychain settings (-128)
    Checked default keychain
    Checked contents of ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
Warning: some problems were not fixed
    Repair failed
after that, i restarted my computer, when i put my username to login to my account, i got asked to provide the keychain password for 'local items'. This happened while i was logging in and the computer refused to log into the account until i pressed the 'cancel' button.
Nothing is working, what do i do?
As a side note, i either want to unlock the 'local items' keychain or i want to stop messages from popping up, which i attempted and again hit the 'local items' password wall. I also can't check 'allow user to reset password using Apple ID' because the option is greyed out even after unlocking it to change items.

Your login.keychain password is out of sync with the new iCloud keychain and needs to be re-sync'd.
The new iCloud keychain is either called "Local items" if you don't have syncing enabled or "iCloud" if you enabled iCloud keychain sync.
    Open 'Keychain Access' Application
Select the 'login' keychain from the keychains list
Click the lock at the top to lock the login keychain
Click the lock again to unlock the login keychain
After entering your login keychain password you should be presented with a dialog:
Clicking the reset button will re-sync your login.keychain password with the iCloud keychain password.
If everything from the above fails for whatever reason the last resort you can do the following:
    Open terminal
    cd ~/Library/Keychains
    ls
When you 'ls' here you will see a folder that contains a bunch of random number liks so:
94ED610F-DD96-4ECF-A2BC-7D2F8651A464  (this number is unique on each system)
    rm -rf 94ED610F-DD96-4ECF-A2BC-7D2F8651A464
    Reboot
<when you log back in everything should be back to normal>

  • Wifi networks keep reappearing in my iCloud Keychain

I am having a problem with wifi networks that keep reappearing in my iCloud Keychain, and no matter what I have tried, I can't get rid of them.
I have an iPhone, an iPad, an iMac and two MacBook Pros.  I have enabled iCloud Keychain on all these devices.  On one of the Macs, if I look in System Preferences / Networks / Advanced, I can see the list of Preferred Networks.  There are loads of them from various offices, hotels, airports etc I have visited.  Most are harmless, but I have two entries for public wifi networks which I no longer can use.  The problem is, when I am out and about with my iPhone, if I come in to range of one of these networks, my iPhone automatically connects to it.  However, as I don't subscribe to the network, I can't get any data throughput, but the iPhone wants to use wifi and not cellular data, so effectively I am offline.  I fix this by turning wifi off, but that is a pain.
I have tried a whole bunch of things, including:
Telling the iPhone to forget the offending networks - it works initially, but next time I visit that location, the iPhone connects up again
Deleting the offending networks on the Mac and letting iCloud Keychain sync the deletion to the other devices.  No luck, the networks reappear after a few hours
Reloading iOS entirely on the iPhone and iPad.  I didn't do a restore of any type.  No joy still
Resetting iCloud Keychain by turning it off on all the devices and entering a new code.  No good, the offending networks appear again
What I have had to do is turn off Keychain entirely, but this is frustrating and surely can't be how Apple intended it to be.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks
    PD

Well, I have made some progress on this, and established that this actually is not to do with iCloud Keychain at all, so apologies to all the iCloud Keychain developers out there!
The problem is that when I delete entries from the Preferred Networks list (System Preferences / Network / select Wi-Fi connection / Advanced, all looks great initially, but after a while the entries reappear.  They do this when iCloud Keychain is off, so they shouldn't be coming back from iCloud Keychain.
I have turned iCloud Keychain off on all my devices, reset it, and then only turned iCloud Keychain back on on two iOS devices and one laptop, all three of which I rebuilt from scratch (and no restoring a backup).  iCloud Keychain has stayed free of the offending preferred networks.
I don't really want to rebuild my other two OS X machines just to clear down this list of preferred networks, does anyone know how to clean the list properly without the entries returning?
    Thanks
    PD

  • Can Anyone Offer Some Tips - iCloud Keychain

I was able to set up iCloud Keychain on my iPhone 5 and 3rd gen. iPad with no problem.  When I attempt to turn it on in the iCloud settings on my MBP, it tells me that it can't connect to iCloud and just spins and spins.
I have autofill and everything set up in Safari settings and every time I log onto any specific site, it asks if I want to save the information.  I used a 3rd party password application and the ability to use something integrated into the OS really appeals to me so that I can keep some sort of cohesion going on.
Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting tips that I should try in order to get iCloud Keychain to work on the Mac as well?  Would be greatly appreciated.

I really am at  my wit's end with this.  I was able to enable iCloud Keychain on a Mini with no problem.  It asked for the password and verification code and BANG -- set up without a hitch; just like when I set it up on my iPhone and iPad.
Every time I try to set it up on this Macbook Pro, I keep getting this communication problem, despite the fact that everything else works fine in iCloud on this machine.
Messages and FaceTime work without a problem.  I've booted into Safe mode, reset the NVRAM, and even deleted some network plist files in Library/Preferences/SysCofig because someone suggested that the ethernet card was not being reflected properly and no matter what I do I keep geting this communication error above.  It just happened a few seconds ago as I was typing this.
I must've missed out on something when I initially installed Mavericks because I didn't sit in front of the machine staring at the screen during the installation as it was in another room --- so I'm guessing I need to just go through this entire process all over again and re-install and remain glued to the screen to make sure there wasn't a crucial step that required my input to insure that the Keychain function works?
Does anyone have any suggestions or has someone had a similar problem because I really do NOT wish to sit through downloading and reinstalling this OS again.  This is very frustrating that this one function is causing such an issue.
(Maybe I should just stick with 1Password because I have never seen such problems with Apple as I have in the last few years where I have been forced to use 3rd party solutions because something "breaks" in the system to the point of there being NO viable solution to make things work.  In ML, Apple Mail was broken for months and I wasn't able to "fix" it until I installed Mavericks and for some reason iPhoto thinks that I'm not connected to the internet even though I am --
these issues shouldn't be happening and shouldn't be so hard to repair when they do.)
If anyone can save me from having to reinstall to gain access to this keychain in the cloud, it would be greatly appreciated!
