ICloud Keychain - unable to authorize devices

Hello,
I seem to be stuck with no way of authorizing my devices for iCloud Keychain.  On both my Macs and iOS devices they say either:
Approve with Other Device - which is not possible as none of them seem to be authorized or
Enter Security Code - which if I enter my code it then asks for a further verification code which is being sent to me by SMS, however these never arrive.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?  Clicking "Don't have access to this phone?" (I do) just leads me to contact Apple Support and none of my devices are <12mths old.

I also don't know the answers to my security questions. I spoke with iCloud support on the phone for about an hour, but we got locked out of my account and they eventually encouraged me to check if I could log into old devices (I now know I can't-they've either been sold or are not using iCloud keychain).
Anybody think they can help? I don't want to have to set up a new iCloud account.

Welcome to the Apple community Yao.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • ICloud Keychain showing too many devices?

I have a strange problem that's currently frustrating me. I have 4 devices, an iPhone 5, iPad 2, MacBook Air and iMac. It all started when I began to have trouble with my MacBook Air (another story). I've since setup Mavericks a couple of times on that device and it appears that it's registered itself to iCloud Keychain multiple times too.
Recently I've been trying to resolve sync issues with internet accounts across my devices and when I remove a Google account, for example, from my iMac, which has iCloud Keychain turned on, it corretly asks me if I want to remove the account from my other devices but lists my other devices as "MacBook Air", "MacBook Air" and "MacBook Air", nowhere does it mention my iPhone or iPad.
I'm wondering how my MacBook Air has come to appear 3 times in my iCloud Keychain and what, if anything, I can do about it. The reson I want to try and resolve this is because I'm pretty sure that stored Keychain data for "Internet Accounts" on the 3 phantom MacBook Airs is also messing up my ability to sync Google Calendars with iCal, the biggest source of my frustration!

    Hello there, DesertRatR.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great information on what to do to remove devices from iCloud verification:
Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support
What if I lose or give away one of my trusted devices?
If you no longer have access to one of your devices, go to My Apple ID as soon as possible to remove that device from your list of trusted devices. That device can then no longer be used to help verify your identity.
What if I no longer have access to any of my trusted devices?
If you can't access any of your trusted devices, you can still access your account using your password and Recovery Key. You should then verify a new trusted device as soon as possible.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • ICloud Keychain - Works with iOS devices but having issues with Mavericks

Has anyone had an issue where the iCloud keychain will sync normally to iOS devices but not in Mavericks? It worked fine up until a day or two ago when I was forced to recreate my user profile. (a completely seperate issue forced it) Since then I've been rebuilding my profile but did not use the original Library files so as to avoid a reoccurance of the other problem.
Have tried multiple things including a complete reset (saving my keychain locally on an iPhone) and then reactivating. All passwords and CC information will sync normally to one of my other Macs and my iPad but my MacBook Air (with the new profile) won't cooperate. There are no errors or alerts and takes my security code to activate it. However, when I look in Safari it only pulls a few 'old' autofill passwords and no CC information.
Actually just tried loading my iCloud settings (including keychain) in the Admin account on the computer and it worked fine. So the issue appears to be limited to my new profile. Wondering if there's a keychain/preference file associated with Safari that's intereing with it receiving a clean sync from the Cloud. Ideas?

Just tried resetting my login.keychain and that did not fix the issue either.

  • I'm unable to access my iCloud Keychain, or add devices because I'm not receiving the verification number via phone as I put my Google Voice number.

I installed Mavericks, set up the iCloud keychain step by step. I was asked to link a phone number to it, and so I gave my Google Voice number. I know some systems don't allow for these kinds of numbers to work, but usually it's a two step verification - You put in your number, they send you a message with a code to verify this is indeed your number and you put in the correct phone number and voila it's linked.
    A) It automatically accepted my phone number as is without verifying it
    B) I'm not unable to verify my icloud Keychain account on other devices
Now the next step, for some reason I kept having pop-ups from keychain that asked me to put in passwords that over and over again. I couldn't find a solution so I re-installed Maveriks and did a time-machine reinstal. Which means now I can't verify access to iCloud keychain through any device at all. How can I reset everything and put in my real phone number?
I know my itunes/icloud user name and password and the 4 digit lock code for iCloud Keychain.
    Appreciate the help!

  • ICloud Keychain - Can I Deauthorize a Single Lost Computer or Device?

I love the concept of iCloud Keychain, but am wondering what would happen if I ever lost my Mac or iPhone.
Would I be able to deauthorize iCloud Keychain for a specific device that has been lost or stolen, so that it would immediately stop working in that device?

Thank you for your answer, Matt, but while deauthorizing a device via iTunes would solve an iTunes-related issue, unfortunately it wouldn't solve an Apple ID-related issue, such as iCloud Keychain.
Since there doesn't seem to be any way to manage each authorized device, it seems that a solution would be to change the Apple ID's password.
But I am still curious about how to manage those devices associated specifically with iCloud KeyChain. What happens in the event I sell or lose my "trusted device"? How would I set a new trusted device out of my remaining devices - or a new one?
    Anyone?

  • ICloud keychain not syncing on 1 (a Mac) of 4 devices

I am trying to enable iCloud keychain syncing on four devices: iMac, MacBook Air, iPhone 5s, iPad Air.  All devices have the most current OS and are otherwise operating with no issues (including Internet connectivity).
The iCloud keychain on the MacBook Air is not syncing; passwords saved on the MBA do not sync "up" to iCloud, and passwords saved on any of the other three devices do not sync "down" to the MBA.  The other three devices work as they should.  The MBA is running 10.9.2 and all other aspects of iCloud work (e.g., contacts syncing, notes syncing).  All devices are on the same iCloud account.
I have tried the following with no success:
    1.  Added/removed iCloud from the MBA (many times).
    2.  Checked/unchecked the "Keychain" item in Settings>iCloud (many times).
    3.  Keychain repair.
    4.  Various networks in multiple locations, both WiFi and wired.
    5.  The steps outlined in this Apple support document (multiple times):  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4644
    6.  Resetting Safari (multiple times).
    7.  Various other non-iCloud specific troubleshooting steps like emptying Trash and repairing disk permissions.
    8.  Deleting the Ubiquity folder in ~/Library/Application Support (figured it was worth a shot).
    Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

That isn't an option, I can't see how to change the account associated with the iPad. In Setting->iCloud, if I tap Delete Account, it gives the dialogue "If you delete your account, all documents stored in iCloud will be deleted from this iPad."  With buttons for Delete and Cancel only.
I'm ok with deleting from the iPad, because I've turned off the calendar, reminders etc. and kept them on the iPad. So I just want to be sure they don't get delete from iCloud.
And of course, we will stop being able to use the same contacts list, which was the main reason for using one iCloud account.

  • How do I access icloud keychain?

I know the password was kept in the icloud keychain?
On my Mac I start up the utility keychain. Put in enough letters too narrow the search, pick the correct password/user name. Authorise viewing the password in plain text. And read the result.
How do I do this with icloud?  I have a couple of websites where I can't authorize it anything.

    Hi Everret.
Aside from keychain, you can access your iCloud keychain on your iOS devices.
All you need to do is go to your Settings > Safari > Password > Autofill > Saved Passwords (you will need to enter your device passcode)
and then you can now view all the saved password from your iOS device.
    Hope it helps

  • How can I use iCloud-keychain if i can not find my country in the country code list?

How can I use iCloud-keychain if i can not find my country in the country code list?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your country code does not appear in the list…
Go to System Preferences > iCloud > Keychain and enter your Apple ID password (Settings > iCloud > Keychain, from a mobile device)
Select the ‘Create Different Code’ option. (Mobile devices only)
Select the advanced option and choose whether to create a random code or no code, selecting the later allows syncing across devices but not with Apple’s servers.

  • What should I do if I no longer have access to the phone number that my iCloud keychain verification code is sent to?

When I first turned in iCloud keychain I had no other Apple devises so I put in a phone number for it to send my verification number to. Then I had to delete that phone number but the iCloud keychain number is still saying it is going to send the verification number to that phone. How do I program in that that number is no longer active. Please help!!!!!

    Hello Conor T,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you do not have access to the phone number you set up for iCloud Keychain, you will need to contact Apple Support to complete setup on a new device.
How do I set up iCloud Keychain on a new device if I don't have one of my other devices to approve from?
If you can't access any of your other devices that are using iCloud Keychain, you can still set up iCloud Keychain on another device if you have these items:
    Your iCloud Security Code
The device that is using the SMS-capable phone number you provided when you first set up iCloud Keychain. A verification code is sent via SMS to this phone number. If you can't access this number, contact Apple Support, who can verify your identity, so that you can complete setup on your new device.
After you complete the setup, your iCloud Keychain will be pushed from the cloud to the new device.

  • HT1212 what is an iCloud keychain verification code and how is it used?

I recently had my iPhone replaced.  During the setup, i got a text with an iCloud keychain verification code, but I cannot see where I use this code (I presume to unlock all the passwords the keychain contains).

It seems like one of these in the link I provided answers your question:
How do I set up iCloud Keychain on a new device if I don't have one of my other devices to approve from?

If you have these items, follow the iCloud Keychain setup steps documented above. Your iCloud Keychain will then be pushed from the cloud to the new device.
Can Apple recover my iCloud Security Code?
No. If you enter your iCloud Security Code incorrectly too many times, you won't be able to use that iCloud Keychain. You can contact Apple Support, who can help verify your identity so that you can try again to enter your iCloud Security Code. After a number of incorrect attempts, your iCloud Keychain is removed from Apple's servers and you will need to set up iCloud Keychain again.

  • Wifi networks keep reappearing in my iCloud Keychain

I am having a problem with wifi networks that keep reappearing in my iCloud Keychain, and no matter what I have tried, I can't get rid of them.
I have an iPhone, an iPad, an iMac and two MacBook Pros.  I have enabled iCloud Keychain on all these devices.  On one of the Macs, if I look in System Preferences / Networks / Advanced, I can see the list of Preferred Networks.  There are loads of them from various offices, hotels, airports etc I have visited.  Most are harmless, but I have two entries for public wifi networks which I no longer can use.  The problem is, when I am out and about with my iPhone, if I come in to range of one of these networks, my iPhone automatically connects to it.  However, as I don't subscribe to the network, I can't get any data throughput, but the iPhone wants to use wifi and not cellular data, so effectively I am offline.  I fix this by turning wifi off, but that is a pain.
I have tried a whole bunch of things, including:
Telling the iPhone to forget the offending networks - it works initially, but next time I visit that location, the iPhone connects up again
Deleting the offending networks on the Mac and letting iCloud Keychain sync the deletion to the other devices.  No luck, the networks reappear after a few hours
Reloading iOS entirely on the iPhone and iPad.  I didn't do a restore of any type.  No joy still
Resetting iCloud Keychain by turning it off on all the devices and entering a new code.  No good, the offending networks appear again
What I have had to do is turn off Keychain entirely, but this is frustrating and surely can't be how Apple intended it to be.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks
    PD

Well, I have made some progress on this, and established that this actually is not to do with iCloud Keychain at all, so apologies to all the iCloud Keychain developers out there!
The problem is that when I delete entries from the Preferred Networks list (System Preferences / Network / select Wi-Fi connection / Advanced, all looks great initially, but after a while the entries reappear.  They do this when iCloud Keychain is off, so they shouldn't be coming back from iCloud Keychain.
I have turned iCloud Keychain off on all my devices, reset it, and then only turned iCloud Keychain back on on two iOS devices and one laptop, all three of which I rebuilt from scratch (and no restoring a backup).  iCloud Keychain has stayed free of the offending preferred networks.
I don't really want to rebuild my other two OS X machines just to clear down this list of preferred networks, does anyone know how to clean the list properly without the entries returning?
    Thanks
    PD

  • ICloud Keychain - Suddenly Missing Passwords

    Hi guys,
I've been using Yosemite and finally decided to take full advantage of iCloud keychain and Safari Autofill. So I've been saving my login details and different usernames for websites everywhere and it's been great. Until a few days ago. Suddenly Safari doesn't remember any of them it seems. If I go to "usernames and passwords" or whatever in Safari's settings there is now nothing listed? I didn't upgrade anything or change any setting that should have effected or deleted these things? I've also went into my Keychain Access app and I'm not finding passwords there either. Any idea what could have caused this? I haven't upgraded my phone or changed settings there either?
Any ways to get them back you think? I don't have a backup recent enough as I've just started doing this a couple weeks ago.
    Thanks

Back up all data. Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device. Test.

I have a problem with iCloud Keychain as an old email account keeps reappearing despite me removing it from all my macs and iPhone devices.  This email account is no more seeing that my old ISP closed down their email servers for good. Plus I changed my ISP but still it keeps reappearing.
Any ideas on how to get rid of this rogue old email account?
This always happens when I reinstall mavericks
    It's ruddy annoying!!!

  • How sync local and iCloud keychain

Hi, my MBP retina broke and the Apple service change the mother board.
I lost some key chained password, looking around i follow the iCloud request approval with success.
Could be new mother board means new MAC!
So i discover before the approval, that some passwords are inside my MBP (masked as login) and other are on iCloud (marked as iCloud).
Is it possible to sync the two repositories for have all the passwords aligned?
    Many thanks for an answer.
    Simone
