How can I change the iCloud ID that my Macbook Pro wants me to log into when I reboot my computer? - it appears only the password can be changed.....

To change the iCloud ID, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.

You're saying that when you click on the iCloud preference pane button it sends you to the defunct MMe
rather than giving you this?
Is your profile up to date, i.e. are your running 10.7.5? Make sure you click on the iCloud button and not the MMe button.

hi all you dudes out there?
i am having problems with my log on to itunes and icloud?
really thye problem began some time ago when i got an upgrade from iphone 3s to iphone 4s, i kept my old iphone as a second phone then gave the old one to my mrs?
the problem is when i send a message to anyone the wife gets it on hers too? and vice versa? i have now desected/romoved the old iphone 3s from my apple account but its still happening? on removing the old iphone i got an icloud log on with new passwords and i changed the email on record for itunes and apple log on as my emial address had changed due to a new broardband supplier so the old one became usless to me so i changed it all?
now the aqpple id still comes up as the log on id for itunes and icloud and i cant seem to rectify this even though i have changed all the details around to the new log on id`s ???and i still get her messages and her mine??? its driving me potty? i mean when you change the id surly apple should wipe the old log on? apparently not so if i try to log on with the old details it wont let me on? now i cant buy music or anything else?
has anyone got any answers so i can retify the log on and stop messages going to my phone from the wifes and mine to hers? like if i text her i get the message on both my own and to hers ???
i would say niether of us could cheat cos we get each others messages

hi guys and gals an update to the above question?
the settings for icloud still has my old email address which i deleted from itune and apple? so maybe this is why i cant get on to itunes etc But? i cant change or delete from my iphone icloud account so i can reset it with out logging in with the old details which are no longer on itunes or apple system so im compleatetly stuck?

on the godd side the problem with the texting seems to have rectified after i followed the info from the right hand side other questions like "my wifes iphone thinks its the same as mine"? its now not messageing mine when i send messages so i hope when she sends messages i wont get her either?

Pop up usually meant that icloud activation lock is still on on Apple servers. In order to deactivate you need to turn icloud back on by signing in and then sign out properly. For your sake I hope that you know the password.

This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

ICloud Log in not working for iOS8

I have just updated my software on an iphone 5 to iOS8. However, I have had to reset my iCloud password and now I am not able to log into iCloud.
When trying to log in the validation keeps telling me that my apple id password is incorrect.

You double checked to make sure it is the right email address being used to sign in, correct. Sorry to make you jump through hoops, but I would now try to reset the password from a different computer device and see if it works. I experienced this before during one of the iOS 7 updates, and had to try a lot of different things to get it to work. We're going to figure this out.

Frozen icloud log-in ipad mini

I have a frozen iPad mini as in the question below, except I am getting a sign-into-icloud pop-up. I have tried both shutting down with the slider and the reset solution given below (as well as entering my password and hitting cancel), but the sign-in message continues to pop up

I went to use my ipad and noticed that there was the log on box for face time. I clicked cancel and nothing happened. The screen went dark and I clicked on the button and it relit but the long on box was still there. I tried to turn off but it would get to the part where you slide to power off but wouldn't slide when I tried ....and the facetime log on was still there. How can I get this to work again?

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Trying to log into iCloud on my Mac but getting message "unablke to sign in because of a problem communicating with iCloud" Any ideas? Also can't receive or send mail as incoming mail server details seem to be blank for some reason- is it something to do with originally using MobileMe??

Trying via system preferences, but still coming up with communicating problem. Saw someone's suggestion to you so tried that but when looking in applications folder can.t actually find iCloud- bizarre. Pc was working fine during week and now mail and iCloud both gone weird. But still working ok on iPad and iPhone

I had an old moble.me account and missed my opportunity to transfer my files to the new iCloud account. No big deal as I had the files in other places. But now I'm trying to access my account and even though I have an Apple ID none of my user names or passwords will let me log in. The best I get is having it send me information about my account to my email. Trouble is it says it has been sent but nothing every arrives. I've checked my email address on my Apple account and it is correct but I still get no information about my iCloud account. What's up? Or better yet who would I contact to get this mess straightened out. How can Apple expect us to use all of our Apple products if we can't even access our iCloud accounts?

Is your Apple ID, an iCloud account, or just an Apple ID. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4436.
If you can go to store.apple.com/us/account and successfully sign in, then we know this is a valid Apple ID. If however we go to www.iCloud.com, and sign in with the same Apple ID and password, and it does not let us in, then it is likely, you have not created an iCloud account of this Apple ID.

If I am away from home and my iPad is stolen and I want to log into iCloud to block data etc on the stolen iPad is it possible to log in on a computer that does not have iCloud? i.e. internet cafe etc etc
Maybe this sounds a daft question - sorry. - but if you have to find someone with iCloud on their computer it does not exactly make the 'find my iPad'function very useful.
