ICloud Mail: Alias cannot be saved

When I logged in on iCloud.com (also on my iPod Touch) my mail aliases have been disappeared! And that happens now that I wanted to switch to iCloud as mail service. Then I tried to create a new one, doesn't matter what I fill in, what label color I choose or what description I give, It just doesn't let me create an alias, the message I get is, and I try to quote: 'Your alias cannot be saved!'. That's it! I wish I could create an alias because I use my alias as, some kind, of my primary address.
I tried it in the web app, as well as in my iPod Touch, they've just vanished, gone.
To be clear: I am no mobileme user, nor have my account been transferred (mobileme -> iCloud).
Can anybody help me or does anybody has the same problem? Please let me know in this discussion topic so we can collect all these issues.

The .me alias i replaced now with the @icloud.com.
So al the .me adressess i had (and did not use) are now @icloud.com
But if i e-mail to my e-mail adres (or alias) @icloud.com the message is rejected.
Seems that there is some development, i'll wait a little longer. The error now is:
Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: *****@icloud.com

My girlfriend's account was a newly created icloud account and aliases can be created successfully.
However, my account was migrated from the old mobile.me. Wondering if this is the possible cause?
Maybe try creating a brand new icloud account and see if the problem persists. The issue then becomes an apple fault.

I've been trying to add an alias to my icloud account since september.
I have 2 of 3 available.
it should work.
But every time I try it said "this alias cannot be saved at this time"
The only answers I've found in these forums is "icloud is still being rolled out, just wait"
That's not an acceptable answer, especially since I got the official email that my icloud was active, months ago.
There must be another answer!

There's no way of knowing how long this will take: you should get an email telling you when this is done (though I didn't) but you could check by sending yourself a message to [email protected] from time to time. When it stops bouncing you may be good to go with the aliases.

Alias cannot be saved

I only have one alias set up - but trying to add a new one, the only message that appears is Alias Cannot Be Saved.
Is there a documented Support solution for this issue ?
It seems ridiculous to have one generic message instead of explaining why the alias cannot be saved.

ICloud Mail Alias Disappearing

For the 3rd time I had all my alias wiped out and I can't create them again. As was using an alias as my primary mail, what should I do? Forget iCloud mail and go back to Gmail?

I'm afraid not. Once created, an alias remains tied forever to the account which created it: you cannot move it to another account, turn it into a full account, or reinstate it once you've deleted it.

ICloud Mail issues: "Cannot Load Mail" and "Cannot Get Mail"

I'm currently experiencing issues when trying to access iCloud Mail which is visible in two places:
- on a iOS device (iPad and iPhone): when opening Mail.app and trying to check my iCloud Inbox:

   - on http://www.icloud.com: when clicking the Mail icon:
     "Cannot Load Mail" "Help Apple improve iCloud by reporting this problem." [Reload] [Report to Apple] [Close Mail]
Oddly enough synching Contacts and Calendar items works fine on the iOS device (so username and password are obviously correct), and logging onto http://www.icloud.com using these credentials with use of all other application icons (Contacts, Calendar, Find my iPhone) seems to work also.
I created a "free" me.com account to enable "Find my iPhone" when iOS 4 was released (which doesn't include mail), and already had a Apple ID. Presumably these got merged now, maybe contributing to the issue?
iCloud is only available to me through the web or my iOS devices, I currently don't have Lion installed.
Suggestions?

I am in the exact same boat:
I was a MobileMe subsciber who migrated to iCloud
MobileMe ID was [email protected]; Apple ID [email protected]
All iCloud services work as intended EXCEPT mail
I can access iCloud Mail by:
Mail.app in Lion
When I access my iCloud mail on my iOS devices, I get "The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect." I know for a fact the password is correct, and all other services work.
When I access iCloud online, again all services EXCEPT mail work. Here, I get the "Cannot Load Mail." message
Has anyone resolved this; or is this an Apple issue? This is driving me crazy.

I can't delete an iCloud Mail-Alias.

I've created an Mail-Alias on icloud.com and can't delete this Alias on icloud.com although there is a button which should delete it. There is always a failure message which tells me that the Alias can't be deleted because there is a "Server Problem". After this message Mail crashes and I need to reload it.

I have just spoken to Apple Support using my Apple Care Express Lane service...
I too had the crashing issue when trying to delete a "capitalized" alias.
The lovely gentleman on the phone simply reset my iCloud Web Mail preferences from his side. This changed all my aliases to lower case, allowing me to delete them as I saw fit.
It seems to be a discrepancy with the iCloud Web Mail preferences pane and the back-end preferences file... The file stores ALL iCloud mail addresses in lower case, meaning when the Web Mail app sends a delete request for a capitalized alias, it fails - it must be case sensitive.
So, if you can get a request in to Apple Support (maybe via the Genius Desk) ask them to reset your iCloud Web Mail preferences.
I hope this helps.
And hopefully the Apple Techs will fix the preferences link!

Configure an iCloud mail alias on an non iOS device

I was given a non-iOS device, the one that compete with the iPhone, and in its default mail client I successfully set up my iCloud mail as IMAP, but I want use one of my aliases to send mail from, is it possible?

To clarify, I have an iPhone as a personal device, the other device is for work purposes, but would like to configure my iCloud mail to have options.

Be sure you do not have more than 3 aliases (or 2 if you are trying to make a new on). iCloud: Create or change email aliases
You can have up to three active email aliases, and you can delete or deactivate (turn off) an email alias at any time.
If that is not the issue, contact Apple so they can see what's going on with your account.

Note: If you had five MobileMe email address aliases when you moved your account to iCloud, you retain the five aliases. However, once you delete one of your five aliases, you can’t create a new one to replace it.

ICloud Mail Storage cannot be completely purged

hey guys,
I got the message that my 5gb icloud storage is about to be exceeded. I emptied all emails on my icloud account, emptied the trash and tried everything to get rid of rid - it still counts 1.7gb of 'mail' on my storage plan overview.

Do you see in account settings two email addresses - with "@me.com" and "@icloud.com"? Or only "@me.com"? In second case just wait - your account will be updated in some time. Each iCloud account can only have a single iCloud email account. As such, you can't have a different email account on your iPod if it is using the same iCloud account.
You can create additional alias email addresses within this iCloud account, but they will all receive email in the same inbox as the primary icloud email address.
