ICloud mail and Windows RT 8.1

I've checked and used ALL instructions which describe different ways of using iCloud mail on a Windows RT 8.1 tablet.
I've got following results:
Standard Windows RT Mail client
can't configure icloud mail at all (both using pxx-imap.mail.me.com/pxx-smtp.mail.me.com and just imap.mail.me.com/smtmail.me.com)
Outlook 2013 on Windows RT
SMTP - I'm able to connect to SMTP server pxx-smtp.mail.me.com (with port 587 and TLS enabled) and can send a test message
IMAP - I'm not able to connect to IMAP server (both pxx-imap.mail.me.com and imap.mail.me.com) with port 993 and different security settings: "None", 'TLS", "SSL" or "Auto". Though different security options give different failures:
With "None" enabled I'm getting an error from server saying, that I can't connect withou encryption
With "SSL" enabled I'm getting an error "Connection timeout expired"
With both "TLS" and "Auto" I can't get any errors at all - Outlook 2013 is trying to connect to IMAP server forever and is nether connecting neither dropping connection
Obviously, I can't install iCloud for Windows (since there is no iCloud application for Windows RT).
P.S. I've found an advice to remove any special characters from password, but I suppose, this is not the case, because I can connect to SMTP server, so the password is OK.
Since Windows 8.1 is rather strange OS, I've tried another non-Apple device (android phone) and get the same results as with Outlook 2013.
So my question is: is it possible to use iCloud mail with non-Apple device (and if the answer is "yes" - how should I set things up) or it is really impossible (and I should probably exchange my Surface RT for a new iPad) ?

Addend password note

I use these settings on an Android phone and a Windows 7 PC, they work fine.

  • PC iCloud Mail and 'Parent Approval' on child purchases.

Hi, I'm running Windows 7 Premium, I've installed iCloud and I can see all the various iCloud applications in my 'Applications' window.  I attempt to login to iCloud mail, and the login page appears, I enter my login information (that works on my iPad) and the screen then indicates "Connection Error".  Yes, I do have internet connectivity.  I've reinstalled the software twice with no luck.  In short, I cannot login to iCloud mail on my PC - but I can if I switch the user profile on my daughter's iPad to mine, and access the mail icon there.
Secondly, my original iTunes account was linked to an '@shaw.ca' email account and this is my AppleID (yes I have a newly created icloud ID for parental supervision over my daughter's purchases on her iPad).  I'm venturing a guess that because the '@shaw.ca' AppleID is used for purchases, etc... that all her parental requests have been going there - except I never receive a request and I can't seem to approve her purchases.  Does this only work within icloud account ID's (I'm guessing)?
Assuming this is the case, how can I convert all my existing content over to my icloud ID?  Then again, I'm concerned because iCloud doesn't seem to work on my PC.  The applications look pretty slick if you're an 'APPLE only' family - which we're not.  At this point, I'm ready to return the iPad to the store and buy a different tablet from a company not set on global domination.
    Dave

Thanks for your input.  And your suggestion about read-only access was one I tried but didn't meet the needs of keeping our calendars together.
However, I think that I may have solved my challenge quite by accident.
Before I installed iCloud on the PC I turned on iCloud on her iPhone and mine, then I turned on iCloud on both of our IPads and verified that any entry on any device propogated to the others.
I then installed the control panel for iCloud on the PC and found my challenge of either all from outlook or nothing; calendar, contacts, and tasks.  Having experienced challenges with a previous try I did not want to sync contacts, so I left everything unchecked.
I had previously be doing syncs with itunes and outlook and when I went back in to do another sync I discovered that doing a sync updates my pc calendar without using the iCloud application and since all 4 devices are synced via the iCloud, I can make changes on any device and they will show up on all others.
The only drawback is the PC must be synced through ITunes before any changes show up but I can live with that.
    Regards RLW

  • What is wrong with icloud mail  and how do I fix it?

What is wrong with icloud mail and how do I fix it?
I put the icloud mail login address in the browser, it brings up the login screen.
I put the login details in correctly, it says icloud has stopped responding, I always send to Apple.
It restarts and  I get the right screen, below, but all of the icons are blurred out. If you hover over them they sometimes indicate what they are but won’t let me launch them.
I am using an Advent Laptop with a Celeron processor with Windows 7 and the browser is Internet Explorer  11 for Windows 7.  (I know I am expecting  a lot of it). All of my software is up to date.
Any ideas? I a not very techy but I'm not afraid to have a go...it communit question. Thanks fr your help.

  • ICloud Mail on Windows Live Mail 2012

    Hi.
I have recently bought a new PC as my old one was showing its age (it was 6 years old). On my old PC (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit), I had no issues running iCloud Mail inside Windows Live Mail 2012 using IMAP in the few years
However, for some reason, I keep getting the following error on my new machine (Windows 7 Pro 64Bit):
Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
    Configuration:
       Account: iCloud (xxxx)
       Server: imap.mail.me.com
       Username: [email protected]
       Protocol: IMAP
       Port: 993
       Secure(SSL): 1
       Code: 800ccc0f
I copied the whole Windows Live Mail email folder onto the new PC, and all the settings for my iCloud were imported, and worked out of the box (apart from the above issue). All the port/server information seems to work as expected, along with the other settings.
Is there a way I can try and get to the bottom of this issue? The error suggests an issue with memory, and I am running Win 7 Pro on a Core i7 Quad Core Processor with 4GB of RAM, and Im nowhere near this on general browsing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Try running IE9 w/o Add ons.  Let me know if it works for you.

  • Will iCloud mail and calendar sync still work after upgrade to iCloud drive?

on my imac and ipad i was asked to upgrade iCloud to iCloud drive. will my iCloud mail and calendar still work on my iphone 4 with iOS 7 after i choose to upgrade?

Yes.  iCloud Drive doesn't effect synced data such as calendars, contacts, notes, etc.  It also has nothing to do with iCloud email accounts.

  • HT201342 How do I change the 'Full Name' on my iCloud Mail (and on my Apple ID as I think this is where it gets the name)? Thanks

How do I change the 'Full Name' on my iCloud Mail (and on my Apple ID as I think this is where it is getting my Full Name? Thanks

To change it on and iOS device, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your iCloud email account, tap you iCloud account at the top, tap Mail at the bottom, then enter the name you want to use in the Name field at the top.
To change the From name on your Mac Mail, go to icloud.com, sign into your account, open Mail, click the gear shaped icon on the top right and choose Preferences, go to the Accounts tab and enter the name you want to use in the Full Name field and click Done.  Then quit Mail on your Mac and re-open it.  Your new From name should now appear in the drop-down list when you compose a new email.

  • How to receive emails on both, icloud mail and hotmail

    Hello
I use my hotmail account as my Apple ID (since im not able to use my icloud account(@me), and to only have 1 account for everything on Apple),
and i use my icloud account (@me) for Mail.
When i receive mails from especially Apple (for example, some one comments on this question) then i only receive a mail on my hotmail account,
which is bad because i dont check it often, since ive almost totally moved to icloud.
My question is: What do i do, to (also) receive these kind of mails on my icloud(Mail) ?
    Sincerely

Do you have any idea of how i do that?
I've been looking around Hotmail.com(which is now Outlook.com) but havent found it.
I would appreciate if you could give me some clues..

  • Has anyone had recent issues with iCloud mail and Outlook 2011?

Two days ago without warning when sending an e-mail from Outlook 2011 from a MacBook Pro running 10.8. (Have a .mac account), I had an error pop up, see below.
Tried entering the password but the same error popped up. Thought there might be an error with the keychain so verified and ran a repair. Still the error continued. I checked that the password was still working and logged into iCloud. I then launched Mac Mail and this worked fine and so also my iPhone / iPad etc. Nothing I did made it possible to send e-maills from my .mac account although I could receive them.
For the last couple of days I have been using my MacBook AIr for sending mails for the same account via Outlook 2011. This has been working fine all day until 25 mins ago when the same error message popped up on this Mac too. Went through the same set of tests and again Mac Mail works and so does the password.
Have tried to Google for a solution but can't find anything relevant. Could this be Microsoft trying to cause problems for Apple users, some rogue update, iCloud security certificate issue, or something more sinister. Any suggestions for a fix gratefully received, as currently I can't use Outlook 2011 on either Mac.

    Hi guys!
I am also having big trouble syncing my iCloud acc. I am able to send email, but i cannot recieve any. I have tried almost everything. I have tried using p01, p02, p99 servers, without solving the problem. I have tryed typing "INBOX" and "/" in IMAP root, still not working. Have anyone got a solution?
    I am using:
    OS X 10.9.1
    Outlook 2011 for mac v. 14.3.8
I really hope someone has got an answer!
Sorry the text in the screenshots are in danish. I hope you get the idea anyway.

  • Intranet email with apple mail and windows live mail on LAN

i have a home wifi network and have two computers using it. one is my macbook and other is my toshiba vista laptop. now my bro and i often exchange emails. he uses windows live mail and i use apple mail. since we are on a slow internet connection with limited data usage per month i was wondering if we could email each other directly over our wifi LAN network without having to use our ISP. i know that we wont be able to use our gmail, yahoo or hotmail or other such internet based IDs but maybe we can make a LAN based ID and exchange emails.
    any suggestions?

There's no practical, simple way to do that as far as I know. Apple Mail, like virtually every other mail program is only able to communicate with a mail server, not with another such program.
You would either need to set up a mail server on your LAN (not a trivial task) or you'd have to find a "peer-to-peer" email program and I'm not aware of any such application. Furthermore, in your situation, it would have to be cross-platform (Windows and Mac).
In more technical terms, the email programs we all use are "Mail User Agents" (MUA). An MUA has to communicate with a "Mail Transfer Agent" (MTA), i.e. the email server. An MUA has NO way to communicate directly with another MUA.

  • Want to delete icloud mail and start a new one

As I said in the title I'd like to reset my icloud account. Actually my sister, I don't know why, created the icloud mail associated to my appleID and I can't edit it anyway. Considering I was looking trhough a new email address i cloud would have been my first choicet
Is there anything I may do for that?
I'd like to dodget alias and create a full new operative icloud address

If you want to get all the Contacts Deleted from adress book try this
    Go to your User Folder
    Locate Folder Called Library
    Go to Application Support
    Find the Folder Address Book
move it to the desktop ( if you want you can trash it)
now re open the address book App
    hope it helps

  • Cannot activate iCloud Mail and Notes

    Hello,
I just bought a new 13" Retina MacBook Pro with Mavericks. I set up my iCloud account and everything works except Mail and Notes.
Do you have any idea on how to fix this really annoying bug?

Migrated from @me.com (when iCloud was released). I tried to disconnect/reconnect and log in with @me.com. No success so far.
