ICloud mail blocking emails containing certain URLs

I've discovered that iCloud email is blocking both incoming and outgoing emails containing certain URLs in the body of the email.
There is no indication to the sender that the email has been blocked.
In my case, I was organising an evening out at a pub in West London called The Oak.
The pub website is www.theoakw12.com and I put this in the body of the email, but nobody received the email.
If I remove the "." so it is no longer a full URL, the email is received.
It looks like Apple's email filtering is over-zealous... but I've been going round and round Apple's support pages but can't find anywhere to report this sort of issue except for these forums.

Just to add further info: I check the Cloud Mail from a PC at work.

While listening to a podcast on my iPhone I can e-mail the podcast ID to share it with someone else. The email contains the url for the specific podcast. So you would assume that you could put that url into iTunes and it would take you to the podcast. This used to work but no longer. Months ago when I would e-mail myself the url all I had to do was click on the link in the e-mail and it took me right to the specific podcast in iTunes. Now it only opens iTunes and I can't figure out how to find the specific one. What good is the e-mail tab on the iPhone if it doesn't connect you to the podcast you sent?

Same here. I just posted a question too.

  • ICloud is blocking emails from my website

I work for a company that is similar to eBay in that we act as a venue for registered members to sell collectible LEGO items. I work behind the Help Desk and have received many similar complaints from iCloud (@me.com) email addresses. These users continue to complain that they are not receiving email notifications regarding invoices for orders. I called Apple but was on hold for so long, I had to get back to work and gave up.
What I am wondering is if Apple is blocking emails from our website. I would really appreciate it if an Apple representative could contact me regarding this issue, as it is causing a lot of frustration with our community members. We have had to ask users to sign-up for Gmail accounts to receive correspondence, because we simply cannot come up with another solution. Is it possible that we are blacklisted? We did send out promotional emails over Christmas and I am worried we were blacklisted as SPAM senders. Please help me out here, it's not easy being behind the Help Desk when you are 100% sure the problem is not on your end and you can't do anything about it. Thanks!

  • ICloud mail not delivering mail from specific address

I'm having a recurring issue with iCloud mail. Email alerts from my home alarm company are being intercepted on Apple's server side, and are not being delivered to me. I called Apple Support more than a week ago to report this problem, and the representative added the email address to a "white list." This fixed the problem.... for about a week. Now iCloud is up to its old tricks, killing these emails before they get to me. Sounds like an overzealous junk mail algorithm on Apple's server side is mis-identifying this email address as a spam.
And the email is NOT being classified as junk by my computer. It never reaches my computer--it's not in any junk or trash folder on my side.

I use the term "Desktop" to indicate my iMac and my Macbook - the email is actually in my Mailbox on my Macbook. I move it from my Inbox to a folder on icloud. Then it syncs and the email is back in my Inbox.
Sorry my use of the word  "desktop" comes from 25 years managing Windows desktop computers.......

  • IPad Email Client Truncates URLs

I receive emails from a service, Dell Message One. The emails contain a URL to respond via the browser. The iPad email client truncates the URLs improperly, which prevents the iPad browser from going to the proper website and page. An example is below:
    Click this link: https://chiaf.messageone.com/af/getConfirmation.do?confirmation=ie32225yi42a748a 45o580969a3a6106e95a734ya95iyo754481oai3y842591ua5712060e64ay97o6eu2a4i5ie31530a i43o94194581iea89a303669
The URL is truncated after the equal sign in the link. This behavior was corrected in the iPhone at version 4. I have updated my iPad to version 3.2.1 to no avail. Anyone have a solution?

Since you said the phone iOS had it before version 4, I would expect the same problem on the iPad to be solved when iOS4 for the iPad is released this fall.

my mothers mac the safari dosent work right the mail the mail wont open up certain emails saying the plugin is blocked etc

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open Mail or Safari.

  • How do I get to the rules section in iCloud mail on my iPad. I want to block just one email sender.w do I post

How dom I get to the rules box in iCloud mail on my iPad. I just want to block one address.  Thanks

The replies have helped me to conclude that in this instance apple have failed by a long shot to provide any reliable help.  I have exchanged chats with them and been told to just read variuos support notes which explain how to set the rules on an iPad.  After many exchanges I was not convinced they had grasped the real problem.  In the end they would appear to be wrong in the advice given.  Apple were no help at all, I gave your replies a HELP star because they helped me conclude that.
The situation was and still is, the iPad was a gift to an 85 year old relative of mine, she loved it, really getting used to emails, photos,, web and so on.  Suddenly things started to go wrong, photos started failing freezing up during uploads and albums sharing etc.  in the end had to dump everything and with help call on Dropbox, all well now with that. Then an email from one of her eldly friends was delivered every 10 minutes, over 400 panic.  Nobody  gave any simple answer to her of the sender to stop the emails.  She called me, 500 miles away to see if I could help, yep I said until you get someone close to help you just block that email address, easy or so I thought, you know the trauma from there.
I got the roundabout way to stop them with my own winbox and iPad., she as just got the iPad and is housebound.  I have offered that if she gives me her security info I'l  log into her iCloud mail in windows and set the rules and any other preferences for her.....highly desirable solution isn't it.
I,ll say to anyone that apple and many of it apps are not user friendly and fail badly.  Sorry for being a bit longwiinded in this reply but it's given me some experience with this facility that again was not easy to master.

  • I have mistakenly deleted a mail folder which I had created. Can't remember if it was located to 'iCloud' or 'On My Mac'. How can I retrieve the emails contained in this deleted folder? Your help will be immensely appreciated!

I have mistakenly deleted a mail folder in which I had created. I can't remember if it was located to 'iCloud' or 'On My Mac'. How can I retrieve the emails contained in this deleted folder? Your help will be immensely appreciated!

Yeah not a problem. It does seem though that if you did not have a Time Machine backup then you may not be able to recover the deleted folder :/ But for future reference to prevent any of this, a Time Machine backup is a great investment.
What it does is create an entire backup of your computer anything from personal information down to the screen saver.
What you first need is a new external hard drive (I would recommend a 1TB or higher just to prevent running out of space soon).
after that, just plug in the drive to your computer.
once it is plugged in, in the top right hand corner, close to the wi-fi symbol, you should see a symbol that looks like a clock with a backwards arrow around it.
click on that and select "open time machine preferences"
just turn the button to the "on" position, and select the backup drive and Time Machine does the rest
    very great tool

  • Mail: When body of email contains one particular URL, msg sent but not received

    Hello,
I have a MacBook (3 years old) and run Lion. Out of the blue, some of my email messages are not being received, even though they are in my 'sent' folder. After doing some testing, I've figured out that only emails with a certain URL typed in the body of the meswsage are not being received. This is the case whether I use 'www...' or just nameofsite.org.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

Quit Mail if it's running. Move the following file in your home folder to the Desktop:
    Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Relaunch Mail. It will tell you it has to import your messages. Allow. If successful, delete the file you moved to the Desktop.
Try opening the problem message again.

  • Why is icloud mail eliminating received emails from my inbox?

My icloud inbox is receiving emails from certain users and then the email disappears from the inbox, but it doesn't go to the junk or trash box, it just disappears?

Also mail is displaying in reverse order (most recent at the end/bottom and oldest at the top)!!  Please can someone explain what is going on, as I appear to have lost control over these 'happenings?

I would suggest changing your password as a start, in case someone else has managed to gain access.

  • Is there a way to block email in Mail

I am hoping to find a way to block email in Apples "Mail"
I know about rules, and I am using them, but in this case I need to effectively BLOCK senders.
Where I live, I am restricted to satellite service provider which unfortunately is restricted by limited bandwith usage. much of the unwanted mail contains large image files (well, large enough to impact my bandwith allowance) and therefore I need to put a block on these addresses so they don't even enter my mail box.
    Any help out there?

You can use rules or the junk mail filter. No more bounce.

  • Mail hangs when I try to open emails with certain attachments

When I try to open emails with certain attachments, rather PS files (if I recall correctly) it hangs. It seems that Mail is trying to load the PS file for me, and maybe convert it to PDF, which take awful lot of time.
So at the moment I cannot do anything! Because even if I force quit, and start the Mail program again, it tries to open this same email again!
My question is: How can I prevent Mail from automatically loading attachments? I would the same for images etc. I want the power to load and view attachments whenever I want them to load.

Do you keep the message preview pane open?
If so, close the message preview pane below the message list by double-clicking on the horizontal divider bar that separates the message list from the preview pane.
This will require double-clicking on a message in the message list to open it. If you have the Attachments and Message Size columns selected for the message list, you can select when you want to open a message that contains a large attachment or attachments.
If this is for a POP type account, there is no setting in Mail to prevent a message attachment from being loaded when opening the message if the message with attachment has been downloaded from the server.
Have a look at Mail Attachments Iconizer.

  • ICloud server blocking Earthlink forwarded emails

Looks like a problem that has happened before with respect to blocking of Roadrunner emails sent to people with me.com email address has resurfaced, this time with Earthlink. I have an old Earthlink account (at least 20 years old, which I keep only because of the number of online accounts linked to this email - almost 1000), and I have email forwarding set up on it to forward all emails to my me.com account, where I can review it at home or on one of my mobile devices. It has been working well for about 8 years.
Today, however, messages sent to my earthlink.net address are being bounced back to the sender due to this error:
    host mx4.me.com.akadns.net [17.172.34.66]: 550 5.7.0 Blocked - see https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi?ip=207.69.195.100
It seems that the spam filtering service, proofpoint (who was at the root of the problem with roadrunner blocked emails before), has blacklisted several of Earthlink's IP addresses, probably because they were the source of some email spam. However, there are many legitimate emails also being relayed via these IP addresses, which are being blocked. I called Earthlink, and basically wasted 90 minutes talking to a level 1 tech ("try restarting your computer") and his supervisor ("it's Apple's fault, not ours"). I spoke with Apple, who was more receptive, but unable to help (escalated to iCloud engineers). I personally entered the IP information on ProofPoint's website via their online form for such inconveniences. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.
As an aside, I wish I could just jettison Earthlink after all these years - it's an archaic system, with horrendous email. But, I just don't have the time to go to literally hunderds of websites to update my email address. Anyone have any solutions that have worked for them?
    Thanks!

Still no resolution on this issue after 48 hours. Emails forwarded from Earthlink to iCloud are still bouncing. I submitted the culprit IP addresses to Proofpoint (for me it was addresses in the range 207.69.195.98 - 207.69.195.101 - there may be many more, of course). If you haven't submitted this info to Proofpoint yet, it's probably a good idea to do so at:
    https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi
Enter the IP address that is being blocked (based on the email bounce message your sending parties receive), and then add your name and destination email address. Hopefully, Proofpoint will open up the corresponding IP range.
For now, I just added my Earthlink account onto my Mail.app accounts and onto to my iPhone (POP). I wish Earthlink had IMAP capability. What an archaic system!

  • How do I add a second email account in ICloud mail

How do I add a second email account to my iCloud mail, like a POP account?

I talked with Apple and they have taken away the ability to check other email addresses on iCloud like you could in MobileMe via POP or whatever.
Not sure why I would use iCloud if I can't check all of my email there, and I'm certainly not going to configure four POP accounts on my phone, my laptop, ipad, and work computer...
    Bummer...I'm going back to Gmail.
