ICloud Mail on my iPad will not work or 3GS

I can't get any mail through my iPad or iPhone 3GS.  I've set up a iCloud account on my iPad and it trys to get mail but nothing happens.  On my iPhone 3GS it wants to me to pick who I have a account with.  I pick iCloud nothing is happening.  I have created a me account that through the settings but still having no luck.  Maybe I could have a step by step path to make sure I'm doing everything right?  Thanks you for reading this and I hope someone can help me as this thread may be able to others as well

Would I have to remove my account and readd it maybe?

I think I understand what you mean so try this and see if it lets you get back into your settings.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
    Next...
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
With Regard to ML...  Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using... Also note that Rosetta is no longer supported in Lion and Mountain Lion...

You should also consider more RAM... Get the Maximum you can for your Mac...
It is important to get the Correct and Matching RAM

The above site also has videos on how to Install RAM should you need it...

That would be the indication of Recovery Mode. You can try instructions from this support document. If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you attempt it a couple of times and it does not complete, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store, or Apple Service Provider to check for hardware problems.

  • Can anyone help - my mail on my ipad will not connect to the server. My internet access is fine. How can I get my email to connect to the server?

My ipad will not connect tot he server when trying to access my mail. This has been happening since last Sunday. Some have said it is due to the latest software update. I am able to connect to the internet.
I am not having this issue on iPhone.
I checked all the settings, the wireless router in my house and at work.
I have completed a hard reset of the device.
I had our IT guy at work look at it.
    He said to contact Apple....
    Any thoughts?

  • I have recently switched ISPs and have anew e-mail address but ThunderBird will not work with this address. Have tried tech staff with Bell to no avail

My old e-mail address was SHAW XXXXX.and worked very well with Thunder Bird mail. I recently switched to new ISP Bell and my new address is XXXXXX However with several attempts with techs ,Thunder Bird will not work with my new ISP. I had to start using Outlook.com and Outlook Express 6 for e-mail,but I really liked Thunder Bird and have numerous e-mails stored in it that I cannot import.
Outlook Express 6 is outdated and because I am running Windows XP it will not give me a newer version.I find Outlook.com confusing to me. Can you help

Why don't you tell us what you did and why it didn't work? Start from File/New/Existing Mail Account, enter your details, click Continue, then immediately click Manual config. On the next screen enter these settings:
    incoming POP server: pophm.sympatico.ca
    port: 995
    Connection security: SSL/TLS
    Authentication: Normal password
User name: your full email address
    outgoing SMTP server: smtphm.sympatico.ca
    port: 587 (or try 25)
    Connection security: STARTTLS
    Authentication: Normal password
User name: your full email address

Also, enable POP access as mentioned in the link.

  • Changed Apple ID password, now iMessage for iPad will not work

    Hey there,
I changed my Apple ID password this morning but when I tried to use iMessage on my iPad this evening - and was prompted for the new password - iMessage would no longer work. My Apple ID and my iMessage email addresses are different and, although I would like to believe this is the problem, the fact is the messages are being sent to my email inbox rather than to my iPad iMessage app. Further, the "send" button is disabled when I try to send anything from the iPad.
    Any ideas?

Also, I just tried FaceTime and that is also not working.
The email address I would like to use appears in the list of email addresses in Settings>iMessage, but it is greyed out so I cannot access it. My apple id keeps appearing there despite my constant clicking on "forget this address." I tried using my apple id as the default email address but even that will not work.
I'm about ready to throw all things iDevice at a wall!

  • Ipad will not work with headphones of any description

Hey, just bought myself a new iPad 32g WiFi. I'm really disappointed to discover I can't get any earphones to work with it at all - even my iPhone 4 and my old iPhone 3 Apple earphone will not work. I've tried a generic brand - they won't even fit properly. The speakers on the Ipad are not loud enough to listen to a movie or anything anywhere there's the least bit of background noise. What's the answer please? I've done an internet search where everyone says push them in harder - I cant push them in any harder without damaging them! Please help!

SOLUTION: Headphones don't work on iPad
I had the same problem: suddenly my headphones didn't work on my iPad. All the headphones (3 pairs) worked on my iPhone, so I knew the problem wasn’t with the headphones. The sound worked fine from the iPad speakers, so when I unplugged the headphones, the sound returned. I called AppleCare Support and tried everything they suggested, including restoring it to the factory settings. Nothing worked, and they authorized a replacement iPad.
The new iPad arrived, but it had the same problem, so I knew something had changed in the iPad's programming. I went online and found that many others were having the same problem, but no one offered a solution. However, someone mentioned that the problem first occurred after installing the latest OS (4.3.3), which is when my iPad’s problem occurred. Next, someone else wanted to know if there was a mute switch that needed to be turned off. This started me thinking...
To make a long story as short as possible, I played around with the controls on my old iPad and discovered the following: Apparently, the latest OS has added a safety feature to protect our eardrums (that’s nice, but it would be even nicer to have been notified of this change .. even the support technicians were unaware of it). Previously, when you listened to the audio through the iPad’s speakers, the sound was so low that you had to turn the volume up as high as possible to hear it. Then when you plugged in the headphones, the sound blasted your eardrums as you frantically lowered the volume.
    (PROBLEM:)
Now, however, WHEN YOU PLUG IN THE HEADPHONES, THE IPAD AUTOMATICALLY MUTES THE SOUND. When you unplug the headphones, the sound is automatically restored through the speakers, giving you the false impression that there is something wrong with the headphones or the headphone jack.
    (SOLUTION:)
So after plugging in the headphones, you have to use the volume button to bring the sound back up to the desired level. When you press the volume button, it will say “headphones” on the display to let you know that you are adjusting the sound for the headphones only. The speaker volume retains its previous setting (maximum volume).
So, the solution is quite simple… just turn up the volume after you attach the headphones.
    Cheers!
    Becky Bear

  • The iMessage and FaceTime on the ipad will not work.

For Christmas I got the ipad2 with just wifi. I logged in with the same apple Id on the ipad that I use on my iPhone 4. I set the ipad up... It's connected to wifi and the iMessage and FaceTime will not work. When I try to send a message, after a minute or so, it says message failure. When I try to FaceTime someone it says connection lost when I AM STILL connected to the wifi. Does anyone know what I can do to fix the problem??
    Thanks

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know.
If you're trying to sign in to FaceTime, try to sign in to iMessage in the Messages application, or vice versa.
Otherwise, do as the alert directs. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID"—not the hardware model—as the product you're asking about, and cite the "customer code" in the alert as the "validation code" when you speak to the Apple representative. I can't confirm.

  • IPad will not work with G4 due to lack of native USB 2.0 Hub

Now that I've spent over $1000 including upgrading my G4 to Leopard, I am told by technical support that I need to get a new computer to make this iPad work.
It is not recognized in iTunes and I'm told this is because the USB 2.0 that I added to my G4 does not supply enough power for my iPad.
Is this really true? Does any have any suggestions before I invest in a new computer just to make this iPad work.
Has anyone else had an iPad work on a G4??

If your problem is that iTunes will not recognize the iPad using your USB 2.0 card, the problem is not the power output of that card. Underpowered USB ports/hubs work just fine as far as synching with iTunes, it is just for charging the iPad it will happen real slow with the iPad turned off.
The day I got my iPad, I noticed it wasn't fully charged (90% I think). I didn't want to wait until I got home so I brought my old 2004 Toshiba Tecra 9100 laptop just to activate it. It only has USB 1.1. The laptop synched and activated just fine, and of course I got the not charging message. By the end of the day the charge was up to 93%.
On my Intel iMac at home (just a week after i got my white case, they came out with the prettier case, dangit!) and I get the same thing, Not Charging, but left in long enough and it will eventually charge up.
Now, if your problem is iTunes will not recognize the iPad at all, then play the swapout game.
Try another device plugged into that USB card. Works? Card should be fine.
Do you have another iPod or iPhone? Swap out USB cables. Does the iPad cable work on the other device just fine? Cable not a problem. Does the other cable work on your iPad? If still no, continue. If it does work, probably bad cable.
Like others posted, try another computer if at all possible. If it works, problem not with the iPad or cable. If the above other device works with your USB card, then could be some weird incompatibility.
Does your G4 have any other USB ports to try out, even if they are 1.1? ; I'm unsure if it works with 1.0, but obviously 1.1 by itself should work just fine. If this works, definite USB card problem of some sort, or just a general incompatibility.
Finally, and I don't remember if this works on an iPad that has not even been activated yet, does it work with the supplied wall outlet? At least as far as it looks like it is charging?
