ICloud Mail shows me someone else's inbox...???

just activated iCloud and Mail is showing me somebody else's inbox...my notes are mine and when i go to send a message, it shows that the message is from me...everything that is coming in is this other person's mail on my Mac...my iPhone is fine...it shows my me.com inbox and not this other persons...what do I need to do to remedy this?

I notice that someone with a similar problem quoting a name similar to what you have met up with has just posted in the link below.
My apple id mysteriously changed: Apple Support Communities
The post contains an answer from a very respected contributor, one who I am sure is correct.  Hopefully it will solve your problem.

  • Why is icloud mail eliminating received emails from my inbox?

My icloud inbox is receiving emails from certain users and then the email disappears from the inbox, but it doesn't go to the junk or trash box, it just disappears?

I am having continuing problems with email being 'lost' from my inbox or transferred to other folders before I have had an opportunity to deal with it and  without my having actioned a setting to this effect.  I have 'lost' nearly a fortnight's worth of email in this way - I have no idea where it has gone.  I have discovered a completely new folder called 'BT Yahoo! Broadband', which I have not created and which contains (some) email from 2010??!!
Also mail is displaying in reverse order (most recent at the end/bottom and oldest at the top)!!  Please can someone explain what is going on, as I appear to have lost control over these 'happenings?
    Hi.
I would suggest changing your password as a start, in case someone else has managed to gain access.

  • ICloud mail showing as unread on iPad

    This is just odd.
I am using a single iCloud mail account (using the default IMAP) protocols.
That mail account is accessed by two Macs, an iPhone and an iPad.
Most of my mail is read pretty quickly, usually on the Mac.
I understand that the unread badge on iOS mail might not reflect the fact that mail has been read. When I open the mail app, it should sync.
But when I go to the iPad and open Mail -  there are usually 5 or 6 mails, which despite being read on the Mac - are showing-up with a blue bullet, and behaving as unread.
If I look at Mail in the iCloud web interface,  those same mails are correctly showing as read.
    So right at this moment....
My Mac tells me there is one unread message (in Junk) - this is correct
My iPhone says there are two unread messages. One recent (same as Mac) plus one from yesterday about 30 emails down.
My iPad tells me there are four unread messages.  One recent (same as Mac) plus a cluster of three from earlier today.
If I pull-to-refresh on either iDevice no change is made to the read status.
If I delete the iCloud account and rejoin - then the read status matches.
Why isn't iOS mail syncing read status for some messages?

I am replying to my own post just to add some more information.
In summary the iPad shows mails that have been read on other devices as unread.
    Even with Mail app running.
The problem does not happen on an old iPod Touch running iOS6.  That device stays perfectly in sync with iCloud mail - and the unread status is always the same.
The problem is only visible on the iPad Air and the Phone 5  - both iOS 7.0.4
    There are no connection issues.
Most of my mail is addressed to the old .mac address.  Can't see this as relevant.

  • Logged in as me but showing me someone else's acco...

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help, would it be a support call I need to make to Skype I don't know.. But over the weekend at some point, my Skpye has appeared to have been taken over or merged with another users account.
I am signed in as myself, I signed out and signed back in just to make sure. But when it logs me in it logs me in as a completely different user and all my contacts have gone. My log in details for my account let me log in but take me to someone elses account... whats going on???
    Any feed back appreciated!

You could add your iCloud account as a second ("secondary") account on her iPad and turn on mail syncing.  It would then appear in the mail app on her iPad alongside her own account, but she can select to view just her inbox.  When you want to view your email, you can select your own inbox to view.  The only limitation is that email in a secondary iCloud account is fetched periodically rather than pushed to the device.
If you want to do that, on her iPad go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, sign in with your iCloud ID and turn on Mail.

  • My Mac Mail is assigning someone else's name to my account.

One of my OLD client's names is getting assigned to my email address somehow!
Many people have let me know that when they receive and email from me my name shows as this other lady's. VERY strange. The people who I am sending the email to do not have any clue who the other person is. I'm not sure if it only happens when I email a gmail account or something like that, because it doesn't happen every time. I haven't been able to figure it out. I've checked everything in the Mail > Preferences  and also searched my computer to see if her name came up on anything else. She is not in my contacts list, I've deleted my email account and set it back up and I'm still unable to figure this out!
This is confusing my other clients and not making me look very professional. If anyone has any advice for how to fix this PLEASE let me know.

It sounds like Mail isn't accepting your changes for some reason.
I don't have a Mavericks machine available so I can't do too much double-checking for places where it would be pulling the name.
I would remove the account from Mail (delete it) and re-add it. You may want to post over in the Mavericks forum, too, as someone there may have more troubleshooting ideas.

  • Mail showing very old messages in inbox

When I do a search on someone's name for whom I have received an email, I often get other emails with that same name (but a different person) that are from 2005!when I click on the email, there is nothing showing in the preview and there's nothing when I click on 'Show in mailbox' either. Any ideas where these very old messages are stored???

I see the choice in Mailboxes. I just tried it and unfortunately it wiped out all my 'trash' contents. I typically keep trash for 6 months out in case I need to refer to thing that inadvertently found there way there instead of a folder. Darn. I hadn't realized it would wipe out the ones in the trash folder. Yeah, I know they were 'deleted' from the inbox, and others, etc. but I still considered them safe until I deleted them physically from the trash mailboxes. My error but I can recover them from Time Machine. And ironically, the emails from 2005 are still showing up when I do a find on say, the name "kate". Oh well. still unresolved at this point. thanks for trying though.

  • My iPad mail shows 5 letters in my inbox, but when I check there is nothing that shows new letters.  How do I get rid of the "5" showing on my home page?  My home computer has no new emails either.

My home page shows "5" new emails but when I go to my mail account there are no new letters.  How do I get rid of the "5" on my home screen.  My computer and other email accounts show no new ones.  Help.

Have you tried deleting the account and re-installing?

  • In Apps store on mac pro my apple id is showing as someone else and I cannot remove the name to re input my actual apple id even after signing out - it is set as default or something and yet I am the only user of the mac?

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • Contacts disappear on iCloud. Replaced by someone else's!!!!

When I checked my iphone and computer this morning, my contacts had been changed!!!! Mine were gone and I had 27 new names...with numbers in Marocco. So there must be a big bug on icloud! 2 weeks ago, some one elses photos also appeared on my photos linked with icloud.
What can I do to get my contacts back?
    Thanks. Arabelle

Sounds like someone is using your Apple ID/password. You should immediately change your password.

  • Can't save iCloud mail settings (to hide notes in inbox)

Want to hide notes in inbox - when unchecking in preferences and proceeding to save, I get the info "don't leave incoming server empty". But its pre filled an can't be changed...

You might want to try signing completely out of iCloud by going to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts (you data will still be in iCloud), then restart your Mac and sign back in.

  • Mail shows up in several different inboxes, including the one it was intended. How can I turn off notifications for these duplicate messages?

I would like to turn off notifications for duplicate mail messages.
    Thanks,
    Ralph Sapertein

Kurt told you how to turn it off. To learn the Spotlight differences between Tiger and Leopard, see http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/Leopard/leospot.html and my mod to Finder's Find at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6725932 for what you can change so you can find stuff excluded by Leopard's default structure.

  • Often get iCloud mail showing as offline on my Mac Air.

When I try taking it online, this is the message I get:  “p14-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993.  Any troubleshooting around this error??
    Cheers.

Hi.  Thanks for that.  Yes it was and is selected.  The problem manifests itself quite randomly.  This last time has been the longest so far - around 36hrs.  Tonight it seemed to right itself for no apparent reason...

  • In finder it shows that I'm sharing my computer with someone else that i have never authorized not even know.

I am concern that in finder shows that someone else is sharing my computer, how can I delete that ? or block any sharing in the future?

What exactly does the message say?
If you want to turn off sharing, use System Preferences > Sharing. Authenticate by clicking the lock icon, then un-check the sharing services you do not want.

  • ICloud Mail Disappears!

I've been having this issue for quite a while now.
Twice I've spoke to Apple and twice they've managed to retrieve my lost mail.
Sometimes when I receive iCloud Mail, I will go to my Inbox, see the new message but before I can select it, it disappears!
Also, if I do open the message, it will disappear before I've read it.
They don't appear in my Deleted, Trash, Junk or any other mailbox on any of my iDevices or Mac, or even iCloud.com.
These emails are random and not from a specific person or site.
I really am thinking about going back to GMail as it's happening too frequently and I can't risk not receiving import email.
Has anyone else encountered the same problem as when I've spoke to Apple they find it strange and not something they're aware of?

This is happening to me, too. Mail on iOS 7 is being received properly, but not on Mavericks. Any ideas?

  • Logging onto .mac accout with someone else's computer

It has been so long since I tried accessing my mail account from someone else's computer (using windows) that I can't remember where to go to log in to my mail accounts while travelling. Blackberry only has 1 main mail account. Help????! trying to access my mail on line...thanks [email protected]

Are you talking about your @mac.com email account?
If so, this isn't the right forum for your question - this is specifically about running your own mail server for your own domain.
That said, the answer is easy enough - http://mail.mac.com/ (you'll get redirected to the appropriate place).
If it's not .Mac you're asking about then there's no way anyone can answer without knowing the account you're trying to log into.
