ICloud - maximum number of free accounts on device

Hi,
I've just purchased a 2nd hand iPod touch but when I try and create an iCloud account I get "Max number of free accounts has been activated on this iPod".
Is there anything I can do so that I can get onto iCloud?
Thanks,
Kevin

I bought a used iPod touch and when I try to set up my iCloud account, it says that the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this device. Is there a way around this? I thought I could maybe set up the account on my PC and go from there, but it won't let me do that. It is forcing me to set up on the iPod. Am I doomed to have no iCloud account because I opted for a used device?

Then you'll have to use another iOS device or Mac running OS X Lion or higher to create a new account for you to use on your phone.  If you don't have one, perhaps a friend would allow you to create and account on their device (note: this will use one of their three maximum accounts).  To do this, they would need to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which will delete the account from their device but not from iCloud), then allow you to sign back in with your ID to create the new account.  Then tap Delete Account to delete the new account from their device, and finally, sign back in with their iCloud ID to restore their iCloud account to their device.  Then you can sign in with your ID on your phone in Settings>iCloud and use the new account.

  • HT204053 I have an iPhone 4S and when I try to add an iCloud account is gives me an error "Cannot Sign In, The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone." Is there any way to deactivate an account?

I have an iPhone 4S and when I try to add an iCloud account is gives me an error "Cannot Sign In, The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone." Is there any way to deactivate an account? I have one for myself, one for my family and one for my work. I had all three on my iphone and then I deleted my work. I wanted to get my own person @me.com account. It wouldn't let me create it from my iphone, so I created it from my Macbook Pro. I am trying to add it to my iphone, but it keeps giving me that error. If there is a way I can deactivate my work one so I can use my @me.com personal account?

Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your mobile device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.
You should however be able to add existing accounts to your device, are you sure you aren't trying to create on rather than simply use an existing one.

How can we delete the icloud accounts from main website.Iam trying to log in to my account and it says that MAXIMUM NUMBER OF FREE ACCOUNTS ARE ACTIVATED?What can i do guys plz tell me?

You can't delete an account, you can only stop using it.  If you're getting that error message you won't be able to create a new account on your device.  Your only options are to re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create a new account on a different iOS device or Mac (running OS X Lion or higher), if you have one.

  • HT204053 What do you do when you get the message when trying to sign into iCloud.. The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this ipad.. ? Not allowing me to sign in.

Can someone please tell me. When trying to sign into icloud. i get the message.. Cannot sign in . The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this ipad. What do I do ? Hope someone can help.

Use one of the previous accounts that you activated in this iPad or use another iOS device to activate the new one.

  • ICloud Error! The maximum number of free accounts has been activated on this iPod touch.

This is seriously annoying, I've been going around in circles trying to get my music onto my bloody iPod. I can't sync because it pauses @ Step 4: Waiting for changes to be applied error for ios7 devices. So my only option is to use iTunes Match and pay 40 bucks for it, but I think for iTunes match, you also need an iCloud account. Well I can't! Because when I go to sign into my iCloud using my Apple ID, it pops up with this error: The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPod touch.
I'm about to give up and kill every one of Apple's employees.
I'm ready and open to everyones strategy at getting this fixed, thanks in advance.

So I go to make a new Apple ID, then go to my newly downloaded iCloud Control Panel for PC, and it says that this is a valid Apple ID but not an iCloud ID. I figured the only way to make an iCloud ID is to make an account on my iPod... BACK TO THE START! I can't because it gives me an error after I have created my account saying: "This device is no longer eligible for creating a free iCloud account"
WHAT IS GOING ON, fix your stuff Apple.

  • HT5622 "The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iphone" message is received when I try to set up iCloud.  How can I overcome this problem please?

I tried to set up icloud on my iphone 4 and I get this message that "the maximum number of free accounts have  been activated on this iphone".  My iphone was used by someone else before I got it.  How do I deactivate these accounts or overcome this problem?

You were trying to create a new Apple ID for icloud.  But once the device reaches is max allowed to create IDs then you can't create more.  That's your situation now.  To create a new account you must use another device or computer.
You can't deactivate or turn back the clock.

  • ICloud sign in problem! -maximum number of free accounts have been activated

I want to sign in to iCloude account on my iPhone but it shows that the maximum number of free accounts have been activated in this iPhone. what should i do now? I am trying to sign in with the same id I tried previously!

    Keith Kizer wrote:
but how can we access iClous if always telling that the maximum number of free accounts on this iPhone is activated already..???
It should only do that if you go down the "create a new account" path, not the "enter an eisting Apple ID and password path.
i tried to restore my iphone also but still it always appearring the same thing when i want to sign in on iCloud.
Each device only gets to create so many free accounts, Restoring it doesn't change that.
For my suggestion only Apple should look for solution to it.
Apple wants it that way. I'm sure they could "solve" it if they saw it as a problem.
One of my apps also is not working properly
You should start a separate thread for that issue. Please give more details.

  • Icloud: The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone.

HI, I just bought a used (second hand) iphone 3gs recently.  I have activated my apple id it's working for app-store well, but when i try to use it for icloud it gives me the error that
"The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone"
What I must do to sign in to icloud please help me.
I suppose the previous owner has already activate an icloud account from this iphone and the IMEI number of the phone is registered to icloud. Is there a way to erase it, or just make a second account from this iphone?

You need to sign in to your iCloud on another device before you can use iCloud on your iPhone 3GS.

You'll have to use a different device to setup iCloud, and then sign in using that account.
Is it a second hand iPad, or have you created multiple accounts on it already for some reason?

When I try to sign in with my Apple ID (that I use with AppStore) to iCloud on my iPad2,

    So what shall I do?

can not sign in to Icloud  it keeps coming up the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this ipad 1st generation

Error Message: "Cannot sign in.  The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this ipad/iphone"
I encountered the same problem when I purchased a used iPad for my elderly father and couldn't set it up for him. I called Apple Support...
Apple support could NOT help me. I was told there is no way to circumvent the 3 icloud setup limit on iOS devices at their end. I was told to use a different mac or iOS device that hadn't met the 3 x limit.
So, using MY iPad I tried to do that. At first I went to Settings/iCloud. But that is your PRIMARY iCloud account    (and this was MY iPad and I didn't want to screw up my own settings!) which you don't want to trash.
After some online research (iMore to be exact) I discovered you can setup a secondary iCloud account using:
Settings/Mail,Contact,Calendars --> Add Acount... -->iCloud --> Get A Free AppleID --> Birthday Q then Security Question - then Name - then Get a free iCloud email address....
After you get to the new iCloud settings page at the end of the signup process - I deselected all the tabs which made the new account "inactive" on my iPad.
Next I went to the used iPad that had the initial problems, and tapped on Settings/iCloud. I signed in with the iCloud account that was newly created and was able to then get an iCloud account to work!
I left the new iCloud account showing on my own iPad (under Mail,Contacts,Calendars) as it is inactive. I am not sure what would happen if I deleted it - it may stop working on my father's iPad then.

Why am i having this problem on icloud "the maximum number of free account have been activated on this ipad"

Judging from other posts it looks like there is a maximum of 3 accounts that can be created on a device - you could either re-use one of the accounts that you've already created or create a new one on a different device or computer
