ICloud merged wrong bookmarks

I noticed that my bookmarks were incorrect on my iPad, despite having iCloud turned on.
Upon unchecking and rechecking the service to include Safari, it has somehow found a way to replace bookmarks on my Mac and iPad with incredibly old, incredibly useless bookmarks.
I would love to know a way to go back to my old bookmarks, as they hold crucial business links and documents that I wouldn't otherwise have access to.
In the process, would you also please tell me how iCloud managed to be so incredibly stupid...thank you.

You can get your old bookmarks back by restoring them from your Time Machine (or other) back. Bookmarks on a Mac are stored in ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist.
I doubt it was an iCloud error, though, since iCloud merges bookmarks, rather than removes/replaces them, unless you chose the option to delete them from your ipad when you signed out... if that's the case, you may consider checking for multipe apple ids at play.

Unread VIP messages counter on iCloud shows wrong numbers

Hi,
I have VIP inboxes set up. They appear on my Mac, iPhone and iCloud.com. The unread VIP messages counter on my Mac and iPhone are showing the correct numbers of unread VIP messages. However, the counter on iCloud shows wrong numbers.
Does anymore have the same experience?
I deleted the VIP inbox on iCloud.com and re-created it. Then the issue was solved. Some days later, however, it started counting wrongly again.
Example:
Peter is a VIP for me.
1. I receive 2 messages from Peter, so the unread VIP messages counter on my Mac, iPhone and iCloud.com raises to 2.
2. I read both messages
3. The unread VIP messages counter on my iPhone and Mac vanished, and so does the general unread mail counter.
4. On iCloud.com, my general unread mail counter would also be 0 but the VIP unread mail counter would still be 2. The VIP inbox does not show any unread email, tough.

I've reported this error twice via Apple's iCloud feedback page on the website - http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html
No solution as yet... but an earlier VIP bug (where, if the same contact sometimes sends as "@mac.com" and sometimes "@me.com", they had to have separate VIP mailboxes) was fixed. (At least, I think it was fixed: if you put all the relevant addresses against the same single contact in iCloud and delete any other instances of the contact with the same address, then iCloud creates one amalgamated VIP inbox for them. But I digress.)
The mis-count bug has been around since the day VIP appeared - hopefully getting a bit embarrassing for someone on the iCloud team? Maybe someone at Apple reading this?

Has anyone had issues with iCloud not syncing bookmarks to Lion from iOS 6?

On the Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Safari then reselect it.
On an iOS device, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Safari off then back on.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

You would have to sign out in order for your account name to not be visible.
Click your account name then click Sign Out.

ICloud doesn't give me the option to merge safari bookmarks anymore. (iPad 2)

I had previously merged all of my bookmarks to my iPad using the iCloud. I decided I only wanted the bookmarks that were from my iMac, so I proceeded to manually delete all of the bookmarks from my iPad (sort of wanted to start with a clean slate). I didn't realize that when you turned the 'bookmarks' option off in the iCloud that you would be prompted to save/delete the bookmarks. Anyway, I hit 'delete' even though I had already got rid of them myself, but when I turned the option back on I wasn't given the option to merge anymore. However when I turn the option back to off, and only when I choose to delete, I get that little text on the screen "turning off bookmarks..." with the dotted circle that turns into a check mark. So my problem is that I don't have the option to merge anymore.
I started having this problem about 2 weeks ago and have done an update ever since. Everything on my iMac is up to date and my iPad2 is up to date as well (5.0.1). Anybody else having this same issue or have a resolution for this?

Recover deleted bookmarks due to icloud merge?

Hello all-
I recently deleted a bookmarks folder from my ipad that contained many, many bookmarks. My ipad, iphone, and pc (using internet explorer) were all merged with icloud and I didn't realize that the folder would be deleted from all 3. Is there any way to recover this folder? I've already tried a system restore to an earlier date on the pc without any results. Am I out of luck since I didn't have a backup file created? Thanks.

Give this a try.
1)Open Safari
2)You should see the bookmarks icon in the top left of the window which appears like a book. Click it
3)You will see "Collections" and "Bookmarks"
4)If your bookmarks were deleted due to icloud they will be gone from "Collections" but if you browse under the "Bookmarks" section you may see some or all of what you're looking for.
Let me know if this works! Hope it helps at least a little..

Merging icloud and safari bookmarks

I have an iphone and ipad which are connected to icloud. I also have a mac running osx 10.6 which can't sync with icloud that has some different bookmarks in safari. I'd like to get the bookmarks from my mac to merge with the one I have in my icloud account, how should I go about doing that? I'm just a bit worried the ones on my mac might get lost if I connect my iphone to itunes and sync that way.

Not to Me Too it, but I can't believe we're the only ones who are having this issue.
I have iCloud bookmarks and hte reading list working on all my Mac and iOS devices, but at work, the bookmarks are outdated and the reading list is totall off. Beleive it's only the items I've added from my work PC.
What's more, the iCloud control panel only allows you to setup the sync with IE, FireFox or Chrome. Seems a huge omission that Apple would not support their own browser.

Does Icloud sync for bookmarks between Ipad and mac pro with lion work for anyone?

My wife has an Ipad 2 and Macbook Pro tunning Lion. Bookmarks and docs do not sync on icloud. I see from the discussions many are having this problem. My question is does this work for anyone? Am wasting my time trying to make it work?

It works now, but it was a bit of a mess for a bit.
I turned off bookmark syncing on all devices but one, I exported my bookmarks to the desktop and deleted them from safari, thus deleting them from iCloud, I then added them back from the desktop. On my other devices I deleted all my bookmarks, turned bookmark syncing back on and chose to merge.

Icloud not syncing bookmarks properly anymore.

icloud isn't syncing bookmarks properly anymore. It was working fairly well for a while there. I seem to have some instances of bookmark deletion being replicated but not bookmark addition. This isn't consistent though. I don't have any major duplication of hundreds of bookmarks (yet) but my new ones aren't always appearing everywhere as they used to.
A quick search on twitter shows that this is becoming more and more common.
I've already submitted feedback to Apple about this. I suggest everyone else having problems do the same.

"I was having the same issue as well - iCloud Safari bookmarks were syncing on my iPhone and iPad but not on my Macbook Air or Macbook Pro. Here is what I did and it started working perfectly:
1.     Turned off iCloud bookmark syncing on my Macbook Air
2.     Quit Safari
3.     Turned on iCould bookmark syncing back. It warned me that all my bookmarks will be 'merged' and I agreed since the two computers were almost identical anyway.
4.     Opened Safari and all my bookmarks were synced! A few extra bookmarks on my iMac were added to Macbook Air and any new bookmarks I had added to Macbook Air showed up on my iMac."
I hope this helps resolve your issues. It resolved mine.

MobileMe to iCloud merge

I think I made a mistake when transferring my mobile me account to my iCloud account because now I have two apple IDs and it's causing some problems with compatibility with my numbers app which was bought on my original apple ID account and my new iCloud account. Is there anyway to resolve this without having to buy numbers again with my former mobileme account name which has become my new apple ID? I've already read that there is now way to merge the two accounts which is unfortunate because that would easily solve my problems.

You should migrate your MobileMe account at http://me.com/move . Your email, calendars, contacts and bookmarks will be transferred to iCloud, and you should log onto iCloud in System Preferences>iCloud with your MobileMe email address.
As you have a different ID for iTunes you should continue to use that for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match. There is no problem about using two different IDs in this way; and indeed I think it's preferable, given the number of complaints about hacked accounts on iTunes, not to have your iTunes login the same as your publicly available email address.

ICloud merging my wifes and my account ???

Hi everyone...I need some help please.
On my wifes phone she is signed in with her Apple ID and Password iin the iCloud account and I am signed into mine. Whenever I send an iMessage she get's a copy of the reply. Once she gets the copy of the reply...she get's my messages that are sent out to that reply. When she downoloads an app....I get it on my phone but she doesn't experience the same when I download an app. I also don't get her iMessages. So, she get's a copy of my iMessages and I get copies of her Apps.
THEN....I deleted BOTH iCloud accounts to stop this merging. My phone lost all it's bookmarks and all else was OK....but she lost all her contacts.
Turned the cloud back on by again signing into mine with my info and her's with her info....and the iMessage thing began happening again.
What to do ???

Use a family iCloud account for bookmarks and find my iPhone - iOS 7?

Prior to upgrading to ios 7, I was able to use one icloud account as a family icloud account where I would only enable the find my iphone and bookmarks in Safari so that all of our bookmarks would by synced across all of our devices and our home family imac computer. In addition, through one login, I could use find my iphone to locate any device in our family.
With ios7, it seems only the primary icloud account can enable bookmark syncing and find my iphone. Anyone know if there is a work around? I don't want to make the family icloud the main icloud account on each device since it will require more icloud storage space to backup everyone's devices and it will also interfere with photo stream and documents/data stored.
Any ideas or suggestions? It was so nice to be able to sync bookmarks across all devices like that.

In order for users to disable find my iphone they would need to login into your icloud account or if they wipe youe phone clean it will still ask for your apple id and password in order to activate the phone if they restore it so either they will get stuck with a useless phone

Hi! my icloud said that my storage is almost full (20.8mb free) so i deleted a lot of pictures, all my videos and music but after all it didnt change at all and still says that i have just 20.8mb free space. what should i do? can my icloud be wrong?

ok, for example for my photos it say 1.9gb on the phone (before it was like 4 or more) but in backup still 4. should i just turn off camera roll in backup options?

ICloud has wrong apple id. How do I change it?

I have multiple apple id's and iCloud on my Mac somehow assumed the wrong one. I see no option to change it to the correct one.

I discovered that I can sign out of iCloud on the Mac and sign in with my correct apple ID. However, I get a message that this alternate ID is not my primary iCloud account ID (whatever that means) and that I need to first remove it from mail, calendars, etc. How do I do that? Will this affect receiving my mail? I don't know.
The bottom line is I don't understand how all this fits together and I can't find any documentation from Apple that explains it.
Am I missing something? Is there documentation somewhere? Did Apple just throw this out for the world to stumble through?
