Icloud/mobile me

I use mobile me through aperture 3 and make up photo galleries which I share with family and friends. I've looked through all the information about icloud and I can't find this function. My question. Has Apple stopped this function and if so is there any other method of setting up a photo gallery where people can view pictures and download them from a gallery set up through aperture.

Has Apple stopped this function
Yes. See: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html
is there any other method of setting up a photo gallery where people can view pictures and download them from a gallery set up through aperture.
Not using iCloud. You may be able to export a HTML gallery from Aperture using a plugin (see here) and then upload it to some web hosting somewhere.

    Hi Steve,
If this is dot mac or Mobile me you can still use IMAP eMail in the iCloud.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT - DO NOT TRY TO ALTER YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
        •    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 993
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
        •    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 587
        •    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • Recover calendar data from iCloud / mobile me

I converted mobileme to iCloud after updating iphones and ipads to ios5.  I have lost a large amount of calendar data as part of this process.  Is there a way to recover this either by reverting from iCloud back to mobile me (and how? ) or by restoring one of th devices?

Although this data is included with your iPhone's backup, contacts and calendar events are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer.
If you are unable to restore your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup after reverting from 3.0.1 to 3.0, then the data is lost.
Why would you revert back to 3.0? Are you not interested in plugging the security exploit discovered with SMS that firmware update 3.0.1 addresses?

  • "Finishing move to iCloud" mobile Me window is in a loop. Cannot stop it, close it nor sign out.

I have just moved from Mobile Me to iCloud and while it seems that the transfer was completed, the Mobile Me window " Finishing move to iCloud..." is in a loop. Closing it is not allowed, nor stopping it or signing out. Any tips how to solve this? Shuting down the Mac and restart? Is something unfinished?

That option has been there since day one. Nothing new. You just noticed it is all. Not everyone needs to worry about others accessing the computer, and that option just makes things a little easier. Also, the access is not open permanently.

  • HT204053 iPad- iCloud- mobile me- OS

I've bought an iPad3. I also have a Mac running Snow Leopard, and a mobile me account.
I have indicated I wish to continue with my mac.com address after mobile me shuts down.
I want to register the iPad  with iCloud even though I know I can't sync it with the Mac until I upgrade the OS.
I don't want to have two separate ID's.
    So, what's the best route?

    From the following kb:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4929
"If your devices meet system requirements, you'll also be able to access all of the iCloud features after June 30, 2012, but only on your compatible devices".
I guess even that's open to interpretation, but that was how I saw it. I'm assuming if you chose this option and can't use the iCloud features until July, then you wouldn't be able to log into iCloud until then either.
Unfortunately, you are entirely correct about the documentation. Indeed between the poor documentation and the undocumented changes as we go along, I have found myself embarrassed on a number of occasions, after giving out incorrect information.

  • ICloud mobile documents & OS X Server

Hi, I'm having problems with "mobile documents" and OS X server.
All our user accounts are on a OS X server (mountain lion). When trying to access documents on iCloud from a desktop I see following error in the logs:

Sounds like you can't access document on iCloud when running your accounts from an OS X Server? Would be bad, any thoughts?

  • What if I don't want to go to iCloud?

    iPhone
    iTunes
    iCloud
    Mobile Me
In the Fall 2011 I suddenly lost the ability to see and sync to my iPhone 4 via iTunes. This was a fairly significant setback as I had become comfortable syncing my phone and my contacts/calendar events.
I endeavored to figure it out but it remained a mystery to me so I contacted Apple support by phone. I got with a very nice and proactive support person who gave clear indication they would help me solve the mystery (iPhone dissappearing from iTunes). The support person followed up promptly with an email saying that research was ongoing.
Then nothing further from Apple support.
I contacted by phone again and was told that I would have to purchase extended support which I did. Still I heard nothing more from the (2nd tier) support person.
I ended up figuring it out on my own within about a one week period of time.
Here is what I figured out....
iTunes updated automatically and when that happened, MobileMe went away. It turns out that the iTunes auto update included the new iCloud parameters and since I had not upgraded my iPhone 4 to the "Cloud" and iTunes was no longer compatible for syncing.
I eventually figured the conundrum out on my own and I was not happy when I did.
I had to revert my operating environment back to all the previous versions of anything Apple on my PC prior to the automatic update that iTunes had accomplished and in that process.....was able to fill in all the gaps that Apple chose not to tell me about.
I am keeping this post as general and objective as I can. I will repeat that I am not happy with how Apple is handling this whole iCloud thing. They are attempting to make decisions for me that I would rather they didn't.
The question I have for this forum is "what is going to happen after June 30, 2012"? MobileMe is going completely away along with our ability to manage what is happening to our personal computing data (as it streams away from our personal computers.....up into the Cloud). Does this mean that the end user will no longer have a choice as to whether they want all of their data to sit in the cloud under somebody else's control?
Does this mean that I will have to leave the Apple product line because I don't think that Cloud computing (exclusively) is a good idea?
Is Apple sure they want to attempt to do this?

Nothing except for you will no longer have access to your MobileMe email account and whatever options are available with the account. This does not change and will not change the option for syncing contacts and/or calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process.
I made the switch from MobileMe to iCloud when iCloud was first released and I still have the option to sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on my Mac - all the options for syncing direct with a supported application on my computer via the iTunes sync process are still available. I can do both - syncing direct with my computer and over the air with my iCloud account, or delete my iCloud account on my iPhone and iPad and sync both direct with my computer via the iTunes sync process.
Does this mean that I will have to leave the Apple product line because I don't think that Cloud computing (exclusively) is a good idea?
No, and no one is required to use a free iCloud account with an iOS device.

  • I want to delete my iCloud MobileMe email account

I want to delete my icloud mobile me email account on my macbook pro. Can anyone reply with some instructions on it?

You can delete all the messages in the account and then ignore it. You could also set up a rule moving all incoming messages to the Trash. You can't get rid of the account completely.

  • Got German Welcome-to-iCloud Mail & German Page, How to Change to English?

Upgraded my iphone4 to iOS5, signed up for iCloud, got German-language welcome mail.
Also German page when logging on iCloud/Mobile me.
    I'm a first time iCloud/Mobile Me user.
-----How do I get an English page?
    Thank you very much.
p.s. I'm not living in Germany.

Thanks for your help.  But I tried all that but it doesn't work.  My iphone language is in English all right.  But once I signed in with iCloud, the page turns German.  And it always take me to the "Find my iphone page" in German.
Also can't click my user name and change language.  It takes me to an Apple ID log in page, also in German.

  • Mail will not load in iCloud

am I the only one having this problem? Updated everything:Lion/Safari/iTunes/IOS5 on iphone and ipad. Switched from mobile me to icloud. Cannot get mail. I can sign in to icloud and get calendars/contacts etc but no mail. When I go to mail prefs and icloud prefs, mail is not checked. When I check it it does not save, it unchecks itself. Tried adding my apple id as a new email account as it is not in my ''accounts prefs" in Mail any longer, and it won't let me. So I have not been able to get any of my mac mail since yesterday. My gmail is fine.
Can anyone help? My business relies on this mail. I had a feeling this icloud/mobile me was not going to work.

The excat same issue. It deselects itself in the preferences and on icould.com it just wont load.

  • Undo with iCloud

I feel like Charlie Brown and Lucy. I have fallen for Apple's promise once again. I initiated iCloud yesterday at 1:57 PM and this morning I found I had duplicate data in AddressBook and iCal. Fortunately, I did not add Mail to the iCloud services because in doing so I would have had to get another email account with me.com and I do not want any more email accounts.
What additionally angers me is that when I wanted to drop iCal from the iCloud, it required deleting iCal from my Mac. Apple is still arrogantly insisting that the iCloud/Mobile.Me version be the master. That is the source of the problem. I never want to use a browser based application to access personal data. My MacPro is the Master. I want everything synched to it, pushed from it. All conflicts are to be resolved in favor of it. The other platforms are merely devices for seeing what I have on my MacPro, never for making remote entries because Apple has not developed a foolproof method of doing so.
I used TimeMachine to restore iCal and AddressBook to the pre-iCloud initiation state and I deleted iCloud from the ~/Library/Application and iCloudPref.prefPane.
I want to eliminate all data related to iCloud on my computer. What have I forgotten?
I will take action to remove all data stored in iCloud.
Anything else I need to do?

I spent a long time on the phone with Apple but finally decided that what I needed to do was to go to iCloud and delete my data there. So I deleted all of my AddressBook entries. There were some problems when I did a select all and deleted 1100 entries; messages warning there were problems saving the state and I merely closed the Safari window. When I later logged back into iCloud and the AdressBook, the entries were all gone. I then went to iCal on iCloud and deleted every Calendar. It requires you to have one calendar.
Now I am back on my Mac, reviewing all AddressBook entries to eliminate errors.

  • MobileMe to iCloud - Still have two Apple accounts...

So, finally was able to get MobileMe merged over, however on my iPhone 4, I still have MobileMe and iCloud logged into iCloud (mobile me says it's iCloud now). I was under the impression that this would merge the two disparate accounts (the Apple Store/Forums account vs. Mobile Me) into one, but apparently it doesnt. Also, now that I have successfully logged into iCloud on this device it wants to 'merge' my bookmarks (which were synced via MobileMe) on the phone to the iCloud. Is it smart enough not to duplicate? I've had several personal horror stories (although I've backed up everything) with iTools/MM/etc., over the years, so I'm curious.
Anyway, any ideas or something assuage my concern?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Yes you can do this. But it is easier on a computer, do you have access to a computer. If so what OS does it run.
