Icloud not pushing email

I've been using iCloud since launch and have noticed an issue with email. I've been trying to work out what's up but can't find a solution. It just doesn't seem to be pushing. I don't get email alerts in the message center, or in mail unless I open the app first. In settings it's all set up to push but it just doesn't work.
Anyone else have this issue or a possible solution?

also, like the author of the thread...
im having mad problems with that push...
everytime the mail app is killed the gmail push works flawlessly but the icloud does not work... its not pushing the mails from the server until i use the app and manualy enter the icloud mail... its very frustrating because im depending on it and also i use that mail at my work...
if anyone knows the solution to fix this please let us know...

  • Will iCloud allow push email like Blackberry?

Will iCloud allow push email like Blackberry (immediately receiving aol email)?

    "I don't mean fetch (quickest at 15 minutes) "
Nor do I.  I get push mail immediately and have for years.
"The iPhone does not do that now "
It does indeed do that now, and has for some time.
it is true push now and has been.
Your e-mail provider must support this.

  • Not pushing email - MobileMe to iCloud

@Apple - please address this issue.  There is a plethora of others with the same problem.
    Gear: iPhone4 with iOS5.1.
After a mandatory switch from MobileMe to iCloud I have been experiencing intermitent success with emails being pushed to my iCloud.  Of course, MobileMe worked flawlessly.  Now, it appears as though someone is playing a cruel joke.  Sometimes they come through.  Other times I have to go into the mail app for iCloud to push incoming emails to me.
A "genius" at a store looked at me like I was an idiot and failed to come up with any sort of answer.  I could call apple support, however, I am not excited about paying $50 to get an answer that will most decidedly not help.
Why would apple ignore this issue (forums for 6 months on this very topic)?  We are your loyal customers.  We voluntarily paid $100 a year for MobileMe.
    PLEASE HELP!

I've been doing my own troubleshooting and can suggest the following. For us with mobileme migrated accounts, icloud servers are losing the push connection to our devices...specifically the iphones. Or, in some way, our mail app itself is being crashed by the icloud servers. As stated in other threads, if you double click home btn, hold down on mail app, then kill it with the x.......within a few seconds any latent emails will be pushed and "bing"...on ur phone it is.
What I have done is troubleshot to the point where I have added a second email account (non icloud/me.com) which appears to maintain the connection to mail servers or not allow the mail app to crash. I've done this by adding a hotmail account (and only it's mail slider is on) to my phone. The icloud me.com sliders are all on and my hotmail, mail slider only, is on.
So far, fingers crossed, push has not failed to either hotmail and icloud accounts. BTW, am only using 3G connection for these results. Have yet to swap between wifi and 3G. That might shoot my theory down.
Hope this helps fellow mobileme immigrants!!!!

  • IPhone 5 not pushing emails

I have a new iPhone 5 3 days old. I had my iPhone 4 backed up to iCloud and restored the 5 to the last backup. My 5 won't push email alerts through even though in settings/mail contact/ calendars the fetch new data is set every 15 mins and advanced is all set to push. If I manually click on the mail icon it downloads the latest messages but it won't do it automatically.  The 4 used to do it fine.
Please help as I desperately need my mail to notify me as soon as a new email comes through (for work)
    Cheers

Even though you have Push set to on, I'm not aware of any POP accounts that actually push. I believe you are just getting your mail via the 15 minute Fetch that you have set. And if they were truly push accounts, you would not need to turn Fetch on.
If you send yourself an email from another device to one account that you say works, does it actually get pushed? What I mean is, do you receive the mail right away, or do you only get mail every 15 minutes as you set your fetch? If you go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data>Advanced, you should see all of your email accounts listed there. What settings do you have there, push, fetch, Manual? I believe only accounts that support Push will have a selection for Push. If set to Fetch, it will fetch on the schedule you have set there, and if set on Manual, they will only check for mail when you open the Mail client. See what settings you have there.

  • ICloud not pushing apps between iPad and iPhone what am I doing wrong

I have a new iPad2 and a new iPhone4.  I put iOS5 on both of them.  My understanding of this was when you purchased an app on one device it would push to your other devices.  I did this and the apps do not push to my other device.  I use the same Apple ID for both if that matters.  I set up iCloud on both devices, turned everything "on" and created an @me account.  What am I doing wrong?  Thank you in advance for any help...feeling like an iDiot

I believe you are misunderstanding.  You don't sync apps between iPad and iPhone, and iCloud has nothing to do with any of this.  There is a setting in Settings -> Store where you can set each device to automatically download NEW apps, meaning that when you buy a new app on one device, the other automatically downloads it.  However, this is for new downloads only.
For your existing apps, you can simply connect each device to your computer and move the desired apps to it in iTunes.  Or you can go to the App Store and re-download those apps.

  • ICloud not pushing Reminders

    Just a note to whomever...
I have shared reminders with my wife with read/write access.
When adding reminders on an IOS device to her reminders list, they are not pushing to Mountain Lion's Reminders.  However, they are pushing to her phone.
If we manually refresh the iCal calendars however, the reminders are updated then in Mountain Lion....
Apple may want to take a look...

    More on this subject:
When using a shared reminder lists and setting a reminder with an alert, the reminder should chime at the person who's list the reminder is on or at least both...
However, if I put a reminder on my wife's shared list from either my Mountain Lion Reminders on my iMac or from my IOS phone, I am the one alerted on my Mac and Phone, and not her.  And if She puts a reminder on my list, She is reminded and not me...
This is a Bug and needs some tweaking by developers I think...

  • ICloud notes and email setup

Hey guys, really quick question. When I turn on either mail or notes in the iCloud settings it asks me to create a me.com email address. Can anyone tell me why?

Because you need an Apple provided @me.com email address to use the email and notes syncing features of iCloud. You can't use an email address from another provider with those features.

  • ICloud not migrating email

  • Icloud not loading emails on pro

my pro wont load up emails sent to my apple account, but theres no problem loading on the ipad, dont know what to do. does anyone have any ideas please. The last email was opened 5 days ago, but nothing since. HELP.:)))

    Hello jan1960,
It sounds like you are not receiving your iCloud email in the Mail application on your MacBook Pro, but it is working on your iPad.  I recommend following these steps for this specific issue:
Cannot receive mail in OS X Mail
If you use OS X Mail, look at the name of your iCloud account on the left side of the main Mail window. If your iCloud account name is dim and has a lightning bolt next to it, your account is offline. To resolve this, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Then choose Go Online from the Mailbox menu.
If taking your iCloud account online doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
In the Preferences window, click the Accounts tab if it is not already selected.
In the Accounts list, select your iCloud email address.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Verify your server settings with the following information:
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.me.com
User Name: Your iCloud email address
    Password: Your iCloud password
Click the Advanced tab and verify the following additional settings:
    Port: 993
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Should be enabled
    Authentication: Password

  • Exchange Push does not push email UNTIL the email is read in Outlook!

I am having a really strange problem. I have an Exchange (work) account that was working great until recently. But in the last two weeks I noticed email stopped arriving on my iPhone. It appears an email is pushed onto my phone only AFTER I have opened the email on Outlook. Then it is immediately pushed onto the phone. Has anyone had a similar problem?
I have tried restarting the phone. I have also tried deleting the account and recreating it. None solved the problem. This is really frustrating.

that's weird. you might want to try a complete restore of your iPhone and set it up as a new phone rather than from a backup.

  • Exchange sub folders not pushing email

Already set my echange email folders with the star and still have to manually refresh folders to see email, anyone have a fix for this? The only folder that pushes is the main in box folder.I have 15 subfolders.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I have the same question.  did you ever resolve this?  I know my old iphone could do this, but i don't want to go back to iOS!

  • ICloud doesnt push Emails!

    Title says all.

Ok, I am going to reply to my own question, as I have spoken to Apple Support about it. The problem is something to do with filters that are on the iMac but not on the iPhone. So, I have disabled the junk folder, and all messages go to my in box. That works.

  • IOS4 on 3GS, 32g, is not pushing email to phone

My email stopped coming to my phone last night after the update. I was fine for the first hour, but just stopped for some reason.

Is your Fetch New Email ON? What is the downloaded email limit set to (min 25, max 200)?
I don't have my Fetch ON. So I have to manually download emails, which happens whenever I launch Mail. If I don't launch Mail, emails don't come in.

  • My itunes on my iphone is not showing all my previously purchased songs. why is icloud not pushing all my music?

I just got my iphone 4S and went to download my purchased music from the itunes app, but several songs were missing. Why are they not showing? How do I get them?

I have had similar problems in the past like this one, give this a try:
Go to your iPhone settings>music> scroll down to "show all music" and make sure its on.
