ICloud not supporting Word or Excel

Hello,
Have just upgraded to Lion and iCloud. No longer have the ability to open Word or Excel files for Mac. Can I access these files at all now I have moved to iCloud? What software do I now need?

For those who love baiting people who complain about loss of Apps with updates, you might consider this: Apple never tells you what Apps you will lose when buying their updates, which is a service they could easily provide if they were in any way loyal to their customers.
Apple made it clear that all support for PPC programs would be dropped in Lion (well over a year ago). Rosetta was added to Snow Leopard as a courtesy to give users of outdated software a chance to update those old PPC programs. It has been regurarly stated bt Apple for over six years that PPC was being phased out.
Users always had the option not to update, or to backup and revert if they did not like the new direction Apple are taking, Millions love it, a few don't.
You need to read the System Preview before rushing in and updating for the sake of updating.
Good Luck

  • "Merge files into a single PDF" does not support Word Docs

I am using Acrobat 9 and Office 2007.  I am trying to convert 100 Word docs into a single PDF.  However, Word is not supported.  In acrobat, I go to preferences and then Convert to PDF, Word is not listed.  I have excel and powerpoint but not Word.  Anyway to include Word as supported documents?

I had a difficult time finding the answer on the web.  Finally found a forum with my answer to share with others facing the same issue.  Last entry worked for me.

  • HT2506 how do I make preview the default reader when I open a file? I just installed Icloud and Microsoft word and excel are still the default.

I just installed icloud. Afterwards I am having trouble opening files becasue Microsoft excel and word aren't working now. How do I change the default to preview to open files?

Do I have to do this for each file?
When someone sends me a file created in Excel, can my computer default to opening it wit Numbers?
Thanks, your fix worked for the individual file.

  • IOS5 will not open word or excel files

I upgraded to IOS 5 over the weekend.  Just discovered Iphone 4 will not open excel or word files after upgrade. I can still view PDF's.
    Any suggestions?

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Programs & Features

  • Installed lion to learn it does not run word and excel

This is crazy.  I feel like going back to the older version.  Why would it not run my microsoft/mac software.

Newer versions of microsoft office are supported (2008 and 2011), however anything older than that is a PowerPC application and will not work with lion. I have office 2004 and that no longer works so I know how you feel. Luckily, nyou have a number of options. You can use a number of free services such as google docs or open office. You could also upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Office. You could also purchase the iWork applications from the Mac App Store for 20 dollars each. These applications can open office documents as well as save in a microsoft office format. Finally, you can downgrade your OS back to Snow Leopard.

  • ICloud not supported on Chrome browser?

As you can see, iCloud would not even load. I did not zoom in or out (the whole page zoomed out to 90% by itself and I could not bring it back to 100%.) Is anyone else having the same problem or is it just my filmware, or even software? I would like to know when this problem started (i.e. what version of chrome did this start happening?) Anyways, if you guys know anything about this, please leave it on the forum. Please do not say, "Just use Safari" because that's the obvious solution.

I have Lion and tried accessing iCloud.com in Google Chrome 17.0.963.56 and was able to log in and access my mail and calendar just fine.
Technically Chrome is using the same engine that Safari is, so I can't see anything that would prevent it from working in Safari but not Chrome.
I don't have any extensions, though, as I typically don't use Chrome.

  • HT6114 since I downloaded the OSX mavericks, I can no longer access word and excel

Please help, I can not access word or excel after downloading the OS X mavericks software

I upgraded to 10.9 and everything (including attaching Excel and Word files to Apple Mail as an attachment) works just fine.
It does not work if you use Outlook instead of Apple mail.
    Reinstall Office.

  • Access Word and Excel files stored on 8820 SD Card?

Need to be able to access many Word and Excel files stored on an 8820 SSD card - Media Center does not have a category for "business files" only pics and video etc. Is there a way to do that like Documents to Go on the Palm systems? Roxio's filters do not allow Word and Excel files either but Mass Storage accepts the OK. How to access on the SSD card?

On Android OS 4.1 - 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or older, Adobe Reader for Android version 11.2.x has a known defect in the "All PDFs" view. The All PDFs view does not show the files and folders on an external SD card. A workaround is to use the Folder View instead of the All PDFs view. We have fixed the defect and plan to include the fix in the next release of Reader for Android.
On Android OS 4.4 (KitKat) only, neither All PDFs view nor Folder View shows any files or folders on an external SD card.  Reader cannot save any changes to the files on an external SD card, either.  We are still working on fixing the problems.  In the meantime, please copy the files from your external SD card to your device's internal storage (e.g. /storage/emulated/0/Documents/...) using a File Manager/Browser app or use a cloud storage service (Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) to store files.
Your case is the latter because your Samsung Galaxy S4 phone is running 4.4.2 (KitKat).
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Just upgraded from Safari to Maverick, but pop-up informed me that Mav does not support Microsoft word or excel.  What's up with that?

Just upgraded from Safari to Maverick, but pop-up informed me that Microsoft Word or Excel will not run on OS X Mavericks.  What's up with that?  Should I click accept or ok?
I assume this is the latest Mav OS...so the version would be 10.9.2?  It was suppose to be a free download from Apple.

If you do not want to spend a lot of money on buying the latest Office you can get most or all of what you need from LibreOffice which is free. http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

  • Office 2013 Home & Business Edition - None of the application (Word, Powerpoint, Excel or Outlook) is opening, not even in safe mode..

Office 2013 Home & Business Edition - None of the application (Word, Powerpoint, Excel or Outlook) is opening, not even in safe mode.. I tried to run the application in compatibility mode by right clicking the excel.exe and choosing the compatibility
mode, still no success. It is installed on Windows 7 Professional SP1. All the latest updates are already installed. I have also tried Microsoft fixit, but still no Success. Please help!!

I'm so sorry that I forgot the Office programs even not open in safe mode and provide useless information in my last reply.
The problem persists when we perform a Windows clean boot, right?
Were the Office programs suddenly not working? Or it just can’t be open after you install it? Did you get any error message?
If you haven’t try a repair of your Office installation, we can try it to check the result:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/repair-office-programs-HA010357402.aspx
In addition, try to use Event Viewer to see if we can get some useful error log about this problem. See:

You need to upgrade to Office 2008 or newer, or switch to a product such as OpenOffice or iWork.

    Hi all,
I seem to have a problem of spell check for micrsoft word / excel not working. It all stemed with me deleting microsoft office from my computer, after thinking it was playing havoc on my system, (making it slower and sending a strange attachment with some emails) but after one week I relaised i needed it, i tried loading it again, but now the spell check doesnt seem to work?
also if any one can tell me, regarding my strange attachment. i was told today that "ATT00034" is sent because it contains font information that is not supported to the people i send it to? im not sure?
    thanks to all

Since Office is not an Apple product, you'll probably want to use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups> rather than an Apple forum
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered.

  • I downloaded mountain lion and then the new office suite (word, ppt, excel) but now when I try to display one of my ppt's it says 'ppt cannot open the file...the file may be corrupt, in use, not a type recognized by ppt etc.." how can I fix it?? HELP

I downloaded mountain lion and then the new office suite (word, ppt, excel) but now when I try to display one of my ppt's it says 'ppt cannot open the file...the file may be corrupt, in use, not a type recognized by ppt etc.." how can I fix it?? HELP

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.
If that doesn't work, consider asking in the Microsoft Office: Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac forums
PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.
