ICloud notes and email setup

Hey guys, really quick question. When I turn on either mail or notes in the iCloud settings it asks me to create a me.com email address. Can anyone tell me why?

Because you need an Apple provided @me.com email address to use the email and notes syncing features of iCloud. You can't use an email address from another provider with those features.

    No.
The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required.
If you cannot get this information from the seller

You need to return the Device for a refund, as you will not be able to re-activate it.

  • My browser and email setup is missing and i cant access my balances with any character like"#*"

can anyone help me plz my browser and email setup is missing and i cant access my balances with any character like"#*" thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
For the Browser and Email setup, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
For the # character, are you saying you cannot type that character at any time? Or that you cannot access whatever dialing strings your carrier provides for balances and such?
In any event, if the above does not work for the Browser and Email, then you must contact your mobile service provider to ensure you are subscribed to, from them, an adequate data plan to enable the services you desire. When you do, you can ask them also about the # key problem.
    Good luck!

  • Saving notes and email to iCloud-gmail.

I had enabled icloud but hadnt enabled the mail and notes section. I tried to enter my apple id for this when i turned it on but it said  'this email is already in use, please choose another.' I was then pushed to create an @icloud.com address. When i restored my phone from the icloud backup (as i was having problems on with firmware) , the notes I had written previously were gone, as was my gmail email.
Is it totally impossible to save the notes that I had to icloud? I have a basic understanding that the notes and mail are linked. I am now facing the fact that the notes from before will never sync. I have turned off the sync with gmail option and changed it to icloud, now all my notes are linked across devices and they mutually update (woo hoo!)
Any thoughts gratefully received. Also - i cannot delete the icloud email. How annoying is that!?

Check icloud.com from your computer, sign into your old @me iCloud account and confirm that your contacts are still there.  Assuming they are, go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.  This only deletes the account and your data from your phone, not from iCloud.
Next, sign into your old iCloud account in Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to On.  Confirm that your contacts are now back on your phone.  Assuming they are, turn Contacts to Off again and when prompted, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted.
Next, tap Delete account and when prompted choose Delete From My iPhone (this won't delete the contacts).  Then sign back into your new iCloud account, turn contacts back to On and choose Merge to merge the contacts with your new iCloud account.  Then turn on your other data syncing to sync the iCloud data in your new account back to your phone.

  • ICloud OS X email setup issue

Hi need some help with an iCloud email setup issue that doesn’t seem to have been covered by other posts or the Apple help factsheets.
Used my old mac.com Apple ID to set up an iCloud account which now shows as having my iMac as a linked device. To use iCloud Mail was prompted to create a new email address which I could do by turning on Mail in iCloud settings.
I signed into iCloud via my iMac and having deselected default options to use iCloud for Contacts etc arrived at the account page which has the various options on the RHS and my mac.com ID info on the left.
Ticked the Mail option on the RHS was asked to “choose an iCloud email address” underneath the box where you enter the chosen email address was a note saying “you cannot change your email address after creating it”. When I tried to  set up the new iCloud email address got a prompt saying “you cannot change your email address after creating it”.
    Help!

You need to know Comcast's settings for incoming and outgoing server when setting up your OSX Mail app. The info should be somewhere on Comcast's help web page.

  • My husband and I have the same Apple ID number so that we can both have access to an app we use.  I don't like the fact that our calendar, notes and email is also shared.  Is there a way to separate the things we want separate yet keep access to the cloud

My husband and I share the same Apple ID number because we both need access to an app that has a subscription and would be expensive for us to do separately.  We don't like that this shared ID number means we also share our calendar, note pages, email, etc....Is there a way to separate the things we don't want to share?

That would be my suggestion.  Just keep using the common one for purchases in the stores.  Then each get another AppleID using a free gmail, AOL, hotmail, MS Live or whatever email account.
Delete your current iCloud account and login with the new AppleID, and logout of Messaging and then backin with the new AppleID.  Now you have a shared iTunes/App store account, but completely separate, independent iCloud and iMessage accounts.
You can still share calendars if you wish to, even across separate accounts - http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2690

  • ICloud password and email issue

On my iphone 4s it shows my old address on the cloud, but i do not know the password and i cannot figure out how to get it.  I have a new email address that I use for my apple id.  How do i change my icloud email?

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • DNS records changes and email setups?

Basically I need to point their domain to the BC web site but we do not want to effect/change ANY email setting/address etc. Could some please let me know what we need to to the DNS records to achieve this?

You just need to change a record at the domain registra to one of the following, depending on which Data Centre your site is on:

  • Forgot icloud password and email I used is blocked

My Son has an old Iphone 4 that we want to use as his Brother has lost his phone.
He now has an Iphone 5 with a new Icloud account because thats what teenagers seem to do! (have loads of  email accounts with numerous passwords!)
Anyway, the iphone 4 is linked to the old apple ID (find my phone is active) and my son cannot for the life of him remember the password for that icloud account, and the email address he used to use is no longer active either.
    What can we do please?

    Hi tjmoore1004,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing on this iPhone 4. If the phone is Activation Locked and you are having issues accessing the account, you may find the following article and links helpful:

  • E65 and Outloo Notes and email

With an E65 is it possible to synch Notes and Inbox from Outlook 2007? (this can be done using Windows Mobile / Active Sync)?
    Thanks

Seems that the notes are synchronised and hidden under the office application. It's just not an option in PC Sync.

  • Notes and Email require a new iCloud address ???

I have everything except mail and notes set to sync  to the cloud.
When I try and turn on either Notess or Email sync, it asks me to create a new .me email address.
The description for this, if you press 'create' is 'New iCloud Email'. If I put in the email (apple ID) it rejects it as a duplicate.
    What is going on ?

If you 'moved' your existing MobileMe account to iCloud your existing @me.com email address would be available to you. It sounds as though you've created a new iCloud account using a different AppleID.

  • Icloud not loading emails on pro

my pro wont load up emails sent to my apple account, but theres no problem loading on the ipad, dont know what to do. does anyone have any ideas please. The last email was opened 5 days ago, but nothing since. HELP.:)))

    Hello jan1960,
It sounds like you are not receiving your iCloud email in the Mail application on your MacBook Pro, but it is working on your iPad.  I recommend following these steps for this specific issue:
Cannot receive mail in OS X Mail
If you use OS X Mail, look at the name of your iCloud account on the left side of the main Mail window. If your iCloud account name is dim and has a lightning bolt next to it, your account is offline. To resolve this, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Then choose Go Online from the Mailbox menu.
If taking your iCloud account online doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
In the Preferences window, click the Accounts tab if it is not already selected.
In the Accounts list, select your iCloud email address.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Verify your server settings with the following information:
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.me.com
User Name: Your iCloud email address
    Password: Your iCloud password
Click the Advanced tab and verify the following additional settings:
    Port: 993
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Should be enabled
    Authentication: Password
