ICloud & Notes

Hi,
according to this article http://www.macrumors.com/2012/07/31/apple-ready-to-finish-shutting-down-mobileme -over-next-few-days/ is @me.com already closed. So why I have to create @me.com account to active Notes in iCloud? Everything works...contacts, calendars, reminders but only Notes wants @me.com account.
Thx for reply

That's really confusing because I have no clue what's my iCloud email address. I login to icloud.com only with my [email protected]. I read that @me.com will be automatically transfered to @icloud.com. And I have no @me.com account so I guess have no icloud.com account too. So what you mean by login with my icloud email?
Hi josty,
@me.com is the email format of Apple's iCloud service on which you can log into on the web at www.icloud.com.
So just to clarify, @me.com is the email adress you get from iCloud and there is no @ilcoud.com email adress.  The tranfert you are referring to is not from @me to @icloud, it was from the previous Apple service which was MobileMe to the actual one which is iCloud.  Again that's may be confused if you were not using this service at that time.
So what I meant by login into iCloud was yoo to go at www.icloud.com and log into your account if you do have one.  This can be done either with you AppleID or your iCloud email.  It will be less confusing using your @me.com adress as a logon however.
Once there, click on your name at the top right of the windows and then on your AppleID. This will lead to you to a web page where you can manage your account information and associated emails.  You can also go there directly at https://appleid.apple.com.  You really should go there and it will help you to understand how your account is setup.
Anyway. I've already resolved my problem. I've used my Gmail account for syncing notes. Only problem was that in my iPhone I had to erase imap prefix "[Gmail]" from advanced settings of Google account. Because label in Gmail (I mean in webmail interface) was "[Gmail]/Notes" and label created by MacBook was only "Notes". So notes from iPhone and MacBook were in different places and sync was mismatched. I don't understand this, because Mail app in MacBook has set imap prefix "[Gmail]" and doesn't create label "[Gmail]/Notes" but only "Notes".
That's one way to go but you more using another services rather than solving your issue with iCloud.  Then when you get into Gmail, I no longer follow since I'm not using it.
Good luck,

  • Iphone 6 backup to iCloud not working

Initially I had the issue where my phone was restoring from iCloud for 2 weeks and never finished. I was unable to do the upgrade to 8.1 because of this, so I canceled the restore and tried to do a backup to iCloud. I let it run (Estimating time remaining...) for a long time, like 30 minutes or something. Each time I tried this it would error off saying it couldn't finish the operation. One time it said it was going to take 2 days to complete the backup, but then it errors off as just mentioned. So I did a google search for "iPhone 6 backup to iCloud not working" and found a link to the forums for the incessant restore issue, it said to do a manual backup through iTunes, then immediately do a restore, then do the upgrade to 8.1.
However, I still have the issue of the backup taking forever.
Anyone encounter this issue and find a fix?
    Many thanks.

I suggest you contact Apple Support.

  • IPad Notepad / iCloud Notes

In Notepad / iCloud Notes, I have three accounts:  All Notes, my personal notes and iCloud.  How do I get ALL three of these accounts to sync OR how do I move notes from one account to another?  Right now, only notes that I place on iCloud or sync'd.  the other two accounts I am not able to sync.

Only notes in the iCloud account will sync with iCloud.  In order to move notes from other accounts you have to open each one, copy/paste the test into new notes created in the iCloud account, then delete the original in the other account.

  • Icloud notes on my windows 7 PC deletes new notes and all my typing is lost

    Hi All,
I have spent 2 hours typing a long document into icloud notes on my Windows 7 PC.  I could see the time updating on the left hand side in the notes list for my current note.  I also saw the note appear on my iPhone 5, but I did not open or edit it.
After I had finished and reread the long note I clicked on the second note on the left hand side to read that note and the first note I had been working on disappeared completely from the notes list.
This is the fourth time that iCloud Notes has lost my long note.
I write long legal emails into iCloud notes so that I can get up from my PC, take my iPhone or iPad away from my desk and still be able to work on the email.  When I finally finish the long note I copy it from notes into my email and send it to the lawyer.
Can anyone help me to recover my long note?  Ive spent hours on it.
Also can Apple please fix this bug , it is very frustrating
A long note for me is 3 pages of writing in Word.

    Hello janna101
All you need to do is have iCloud Control Panel installed on your PC and turn on the Photos option once you have signed in. After that, just check in your Pictures folder and there will be a section for My Photo Stream.

  • How can I reach my iCloud notes using a PC with WinXP.?

Last week I was on the road and needed to reach some info I wrote on a Note using my iPhone to my iCloud... I left my iPhone at Home and Only had access to an old internet access PC with Windows XP but was not sure how to reach my iCloud notes...  I tried the iCloud site but asking me to setup iCloud on that PC.. The PC had a limited user account so basically I was not able to install anything on it...
    Please let me know... :-)

Can you clarify how you intend to setup the AirPort Express?
Obviously, if  you plan to connect the AirPort Express to a modem, the Ethernet port on the Express will be utilized for the Internet connection, so no other Ethernet ports will be available.
If this is the case,  you will need to look into obtaining a router with 3-4 Ethernet ports to allow both your AirPort Express and computer to connect.

  • Is there a way to have iCloud NOT sync rules in Mountain Lion Mail?

My wife and I each have our own MacBook Pro on Mountain Lion and we share an iPad on iOS 6. We use OS X Mail as our mail client for our accounts on our ISP mail service.  We have iCloud enabled on all three devices but we have Mail disabled on all three.
Every time either of us makes a change to a Mail rule on our MacBook, it is pushed to the other MacBook.  But we need different rules since we have multiple mail accounts and have different interests in each of them.  I finally noticed by clicking the little ? icon in the rules window that the rules are synced if you have Documents and Data selected in iCloud NOT Mail.  We also use iWork on all three devices so we want Documents and Data enabled for sharing documents between the devices.
So is there a way to keep from screwing up each other's Mail rules without losing access to our iWork documents???  The only thing we have come up with is prefacing every rule name with our initials so for example my rule can file a message and hers can move it to Trash. But this is also a pain since you cannot sort the rules by name in the rules window.

    Hello Tom:
    To my knowledge, no.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here, so I've asked the hosts to remove your email address, postal addresses and phone numbers from your post.
I'm not entirely sure what you are saying, but if those apps are crashing then have you tried toggling them 'off' and 'on' via Settings > iCloud ? And if that doesn't fix it then try closing them via the iPad's taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
You could also try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    If it's a different problem ... ?

request to post Icloud not working locations. for 2 days almost from Ventura CA. I think they are not being truthful about the percentage of folks affected!
and what's with the minimalist response? We're working on it for 2 days? You can do beter than that for exsisting loyal customers can't you?

I just spoke to a Support person with Apple.  I got the same answer, "We Don't Know", "but they are working on it...Blah, Blah.  I too live in Ventura, and have been without email since yesterday approx. 3:00 pm.
The guy said, it's the same if you brought your computer into the shop.  We have to determine if it's hardware, or software, then fix the problem.
Well, What about a BACK UP SERVER?  No real answer to that one.  Just, "Thanks, for your Patience."
    This really blows!!!

  • New iCloud Notes Sync: Advice Needed

Signing on to my iCloud account this morning I now have Notes and Reminders files, as I expected to find them. Looking first at the Reminders file, I found all my Reminders, completed and open, over 350 of them. Everything looks great and I really like the ability to amend them on my iMac. Great!
I opened the Notes file hoping to find all the (many) notes I have on my iPhone and iPad. Nope, not there! Upon further investigation, it seems I created those notes on the two devices using my Gmail account. I did not realize I was doing that, but now on the iPhone under Accounts I find three listed: Gmail, iCloud and my dot me account. The iCloud account shows zero notes, the Gmail has a great many and the dot me account has three.
My question for the group is, how can I move ALL my notes over to the iCloud account and going forward be assured I am creating new notes using the iCloud account so I can utilize the versatility of this new service? (I can tell you that my notes have been synchronized between the iPhone and iPad. Thus, I assumed I had been using iCloud all along and iCloud Notes has been enabled on both mobile devices all along.)

Okay, I have tested the system since updating my iPhone and iPad to IOS 6. As mentioned above, I set the default on both devices for future Notes to be iCloud. I created a note on my iPhone and it did show up on the iPad (completely expected that as that has been happening all along) AND it showed up online via my iMac by going to my iCloud account.
So, this question remains and is now refined to be -
How can I transfer all Notes created via other platforms (Gmail or my Dot Me account) to the Cloud?

  • ICloud notes sub folders

Prior to the IOS 7 update to iCloud I was able to see individual folders for my notes.
    Eg:
    All iCloud Notes
    Business
    Personal
    Kids
The notes still display in their correct folders on the IOS7 devices and Mac, but Icloud appears to have removed the ability to see or create notes in individual folders. Any work around using iCloud?
Also prior to the update iCloud would give me the total number of notes in a folder eg. Business (10). It also looks like that was removed from iCloud.

Duh never mind... forgot to unselect the existing folder.

  • Why do I see two iCloud - Notes in my iMac Notes application?

When I start my Notes application on my iMac 27, I am now seeing the following in the left hand column for the Notes window:
    All Notes
    iCloud
      Notes
    iCloud
      Notes
If I click on the first "Notes" under the first iCloud item, nothing appears.
If I click on the second "notes" under the second iCloud item, all my notes appear.
This does not happen on any of my other Apple devices (two MBPs, and iPhone 4S)
    Any ideas?
    Jim P.

Also, I did notice that when I'm connected to wifi, my notes appear from the 2nd "notes" but if I am syncing with my cellular then the notes (empty) appear from the 1st "notes".
How is this dependant on wifi or cellular?

  • My iCloud Notes aren't getting synched to my iPhone Notes?

I have created some notes in my iPhone. When I am checking my iCloud, my notes aren't available there. My iCloud notes are blank.

Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

  • Why is icloud not listed in my updated macbook pro's systems preferences, there is mobileme instead?

I use a Samsung Android, two mac book pros, a large desktop mac, a Kindle Fire, and recently  bought a preowned iphone 5; want to synch it with my mac book pro. I have an icloud email but nothing from my macbook is connected with it except maybe itunes. icloud is not the way I sign on when pening my personal macbook. But the only id I could use to get into the iphone was my icloud id. I want to get "Everything" together but when attempting to set up icloud in my personal macbk at system pref.s there is no icloud listed only the ancient "Mobilme" . I have done all the updates, why is icloud not in there and what can I do to set it up?

If you are seeing mobile me, then you are running 10.6.8 or earlier.  iCloud came out in 10.7.  So your device "may" be updated as far as it can, but it is not far enough to use iCloud.  You can try to upgrade to 10.10 (which is free), or if your system is not capable, you may have to pay for lion or mountain lion.
    HTH.

  • I deleted the icloud notes folder in Outlook, anybody know how to restore it?

I deleted the icloud Notes folder in Outlook. How can I restore it?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
