ICloud on a New Dell Desktop

I just got a new Dell desktop PC in my office.  It's a managed machine (ergo: I have NO admin rights) and there are all kinds of s/w items that one will never be allowed to load.  My previous desktop PC was running Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit).  My current desktop runs Windows 7 Enterprise (64 bit).  On the "old" desktop I was able to get to iCloud Mail (repeat: MAIL) with next to no problem at all.  I could read and send from iCloud.  Also on the old desktop I was running IE 9.x and today I am running IE 11.x
Today, I am totally UNABLE to get to iCloud Mail (repeat: MAIL) I can get to all other iCloud appliances with no problem.  The error message is provided herein.  It only gives me the option to send it to Apple, or just get out.  I have sent a number of these to Apple, with no response and apparently, no way to fix this problem.
I have been out to the Apple site looking for clues.  I have been all over this forum, and I have asked around the web for like situations and resolution... nothing so far.  I have also checked my iCloud preferences and there appears to be nothing that I can manipulate to resolve the issue.
This is most frustrating.  But, has anyone else had a situation like this with a Windows desktop (one that I am required to use against my will) ?  I also use a Mac for my company enterprise email access.  But, they actually do block iCloud en toto.
Please help if you are able.  I suspect this is little more than a Java configuration issue, or something similar.  But, I (and all of the other 20 or so staff) are at out wits end over how to make this work.  So, please advise at your earliest convenience.
Much THANKS !

Does anyone at Apple read these forums ?  I can't imagine that I am the first or only person to encounter this problem.  And, there must be an answer.  Come on folks ! -- Jeffy_in_SC

''locking this thread as duplicate, please continue at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1033247 /questions/1033247]''
I can't get it to stop or start over. It just says "Please wait while Mozilla Firefox is being installed."
Just above the green bar is "Size:40Kb Files:4 Folders:1"

Try this and use the full installer instead of the small stub that requires internet access:
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
*Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon

  • Best Dell Desktop to run CS4 Design?

I'm in the market for a new Dell desktop and I want speed, speed, speed... and the ability to do about gazillion things at once. Besides Adobe CS4 Design, it will run typical business productivity and recordkeeping applications. Also Windows 7.
Any suggestions on a model and configuration?

Hello there, I came across your post on the Dell forums, and found you again here. I am looking into the same issue. I have been working on a Dell Precision 7500 with a quad-core Xeon (2.0 GHz), 8 GB RAM, 512 NVidia Quadro FX1600,10k RPM hard drive running [first] on Vista, [now] on Windows 7. I am a Mac guy since forever, and because of this setup I still am. My employer refuses to go the Apple route for our group. I have had tons of problems with the whole creative suite, and have trouble-shot many things, primarily the graphics card (purchased others with no change). Windows 7 helped stop the constant crashing, but is easily more laggy.
I have had screen redraw issues, lagginess, crashing etc. My point in saying all of this is that having the bestest hardware isn't always the answer. When I found what my hardware was I was a little excited, but after using this $4000 setup (1.5 yrs ago) I can honestly say to consider an Optiplex or a Studio (bleh) and spend your money on upgrades. Plan on spending at least $3000 for a decent setup (one you referenced for 'fast fast fast' and lots of multitasking). I would suggest a low-end Alienware, with 8GB RAM, at least a 1GB graphics card (DDR5 memory) and a fast hard drive.
    Hope that helps!?

No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

  • Setup Problems with New AirPort Extreme and Dell Desktop XP with ethernet

I have a Dell desktop computer at home with a cisco cable modem connected to Comcast. I am trying to setup a new wireless network using new AirPort extreme so that new iPad can use wireless.
Connections seem to work but when running the AirPort Utility, it doesn't find my base station. The Dell doesn't have wireless. Does the Airport Utility only work via wireless? Or can it work across the ethernet connection?
    I'd appreciate anyone's help.
    Thanks.

Hello VL Crew. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Does the Airport Utility only work via wireless?
No, the AirPort Utility will work whether your computer is connected to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) by wire or wireless.

  • Ihave a fairly new dell and am sick of it and windows want to switch to apple desktop and at least one laptop. any opinions

I am, frankly sick of clones and windows, these dells work but my god not as much as i work on them. its something i just take for granted 4 hrs use, hr of fix. I always liked apple and its os,should i get a desktop now or wait till july and get the new ones. also I  and my wife who is computer braindead use the desktop my son and daughter both have dell desktops although my son does have an iphone. what desktop and what notebooks the airs look nice. any help appreciated thanks tim

I purchased a decent priced Mac Pro from eBay and then upgraded the graphics card and RAM.  I also upgraded the CPU's, but that isn't something most casual computer users want to get into.  RAM and video card was a no brainer on the Mac Pro.
I also scoured the local classifieds and found a nice iMac 17" 2ghz C2D.  I bought some extra ram, and put Snow Leopard on it.  Real great machine, works perfectly fine and runs anything I need it to do.  Was a great price.
Or you can buy yourself a new iMac, you won't be disappointed.  Looks great, has an awesome display, and is about as clutter free as possible.  You can also run Windows via bootcamp if you need be.
My friend has a macbook air, real cook machine, but it suffers in t he performance area to keep it light weight.  However, it does EVERYTHING he wants it to do.
I also run an eMac for internet browsing, word processing, and email.  You can get them almost for free.
    Good luck,

  • I started my iTunes account on my Dell Desktop years ago and want to know how to import my files onto my new MacBook Pro?

I started my iTunes account on my Dell Desktop years ago and want to know how to import my files onto my new MacBook Pro?

    It should be in Favorites.
If not, click on the desktop then go to Finder menu > Preferences > Sidebar and tick Music.
Your Music folder is in Macintosh HD > Users > Your username.

  • How do I move all my itunes playlists from an old Dell desktop to a Dell laptop without losing anything?

My Dell desktop is on its last legs and I need to transfer all itunes playlists from it to my Dell laptop. Please help

Yes I copied the itunes folder. Before I copied it I opened up to see what was in it: album artwork, itunes, itunes media, previous itunes libraries, itunes library extras, itunes library genius, itunes library, itunes music library. After copying and pasting the itunes folder I checked my new laptop and the same files listed above copied over.
When I drill down the itunes folder to the music, it's on my new laptop. When I open itunes and click on playlists, I only have the music that I purchased from itunes. It does not include everything else I loaded into itunes and any other playlists I created.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Scan-To-Network-Folder Problem On New Dell Optiplex 3020

I hope that I am posting this issue to the correct board.
I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 3020 64-bit desktop running Windows 7 Pro. My home network now has the old HP printer and my original 2003 vintage Sony Vaio XP Home 32-bit on wired connections. There is also an HP Notebook 64-bit running Windows 7 Home, using a WiFi connection. I replaced a Linux clone (which had connected ok to the printer) with the new Dell on the same wired connection.
With the other 2 PCs, I was able to set up Scan To Network Folder using the original HP software with no problems. I used a current setup file from the HP site to set up the Dell. The file is: "OJP 8500vA909_Full_14 HP Webpack". The Dell prints fine, but when I try to set up the network scan folders on the Dell the setup stalls and I get a request for an SSL certificate. I don't know if this is being generated by the OS or by the HP setup file that I downloaded. I can't figure out how to get the network folders to work on the new Dell, and I know next to nothing about SSL.
To be clear, the old Sony is a 32-bit Windows Home Edition, the HP notebook is Windows 7 Home 64-bit, and the new Dell is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Sometime soon, the Sony will be retired and the OS environment will become much simpler.
While I'm at it, I probably should update the printer firmware. However, my guess is that I should wait to do that until the old 32-bit Sony goes out to pasture.
TIA for any advice and suggestions.

    Hi Alla-guy,
As far as I know, you have posted your issue to the correct board, now let us see what we can do to get it resolved
I will answer your easier question first, in regards to the firmware. You can update the firmware whenever you are ready! You don't need to wait for the other computer to reach it's end, as the firmware is just within the hardware of the printer and shouldn't affect anything software wise on the computer, so go ahead and update the firmware when you have a few minutes!
As for the setting up to scan to a network folder, it is odd that it's asking for SSL, do you know if you're the administrator on the new computer?
I realize the instructions in this Set up and Use Direct Digital Filing for Windows document are for setup, but still have a look and make sure that is how things were going for yourself. Also, it may be a good idea to check any firewalls or anti-virus that you have and temporarily disable any firewalls or programs that could be blocking things over the network.
Let me know how this goes for you!

  • HP c309a printing blank pages from new Dell Win8 laptop

I have a c309a installed on the network via LAN to the router.  It works fine with Win-Vista and Win-7 computers wired and wirelessly connected to the network.
A new Dell laptop with Win-8 is connecting to printer, but nothing but blank pages comes out of the printer - even when trying to print a test page from Printer Properties in Windows.
I have tried to istall the complete HP printer software from the HP website, also via HP Print and Scan Doctor, which din in fact install on the laptop, as well as from the disc that came with the printer - but in vain.  I have downdoaded the software repeatedly. It runs the file extraction, but nothing happens when done.  Not even an error message.  When attempting to run setup.exe from the disc, nothing happens either. The disc runs for little while, then stops.  No error massage in this case either.
I have removed the free McAfee security program that came with the laptop, in the hope that it was terminating the installation, but to no avail.
    Please help!

    Hi viben,
I understand you are having issues installing the HP software on your new Dell with Windows 8, and that you can not print from the windows 8 machine as you get only blank pages. Please try the following steps and let me know how it works out.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted
Download the software and choose to save as, save to desktop > HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One C309 Series Full Feature Software and Driver
After the software downloads and extracts, open the temp folder again, use the instructions from step 1.
Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    Open folder Util
    Open folder CCC
If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have anon-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK
If you have any difficulty with this step, please use this link to perform it another way. Restarting Windows Installer
Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tool < How to Delete files using Disk Cleanup
Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    Restart the computer
Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
The HP Printer Install Wizard for Window was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.
It is a good idea to keep your antivirus and firewalls off while troubleshooting, but don't forget to turn them back on after!
    I hope this helps.

  • Yahoo DSL from Dell Desktop to ibook-wirless via Airport Extreme

Greetings. I have just ordered a ibook G4 to replace my Dell Dimension desktop PC running Windows XP. I am currently wired to my DSL modem (Speedstream) with SBC Yahoo DSL as my ISP. I want to do the following and need some help: 1) move my Internet settings from my Dell Desktop to my new ibook, which will become my primary machine used (would like to use my Dell for only a couple of programs that are Windows only--and then only occasionally at that); 2) once Internet settings have been set up and are working as it should, I'd like to then set up my soon to arrive Airport Exteme base station to my modem and be wireless with the full 802.11g Wi-Fi capabilities. Anyone who may have experience with similar tasks that may be able to assist me? I can't wait for my machine to arrive, and I want to make sure the setup frustration, esp. w/ the 'net set up and going wireless, is eased. Also, through from anyone who's made a similar switch from desktop using the Windows platform to a 12" ibook G4 (80GB hard drive and 1GB RAM) and how that's been as their only/primary machine would be nice to hear as well? Cheers, robyn.
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

ya i believe you are right.
on my new Palm Lifedrive i first entered in the ip for google and it worked immidiately.
oddly enough i entered in apple.com and that worked also so i am gonna try other devices.

  • New Dell XPS PC 03/27/11

So i bought this new Core i5 8300 Dell desktop a few days ago (march 27), this model was affected by the sandy bridge recall. I asked in the store if it still had the issue or not and they couldn't tell. I took the risk and bought it, i called dell support and they said that all new models are unaffected, but when i opened the box there was a sticker that said "JAN 14, 11"... so now i don't know what to think, how can i be sure that my machine don't have this issue ? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Please, don't assume that your computer is okay.  I bought a Dell XPS 8300 with an Intel Core i7 on March 20th.  My assumption was that it would be okay because Best Buy took this computer off their website once the Sandy Bridge problem was identified.  When it went back on their website I thought that they had the "fixed" computers.  I was wrong.  I checked with Dell today (my manufacturing date was December 28th) and they said that my machine was affected.  They offered to send out a technician to replace the motherboard.  I called Best Buy to express my extreme displeasure and was told that they would replace my computer.  The problem is that I have extensive Photography software downloaded on my machine...Photoshop, Lightroom, Topaz,Nik Efex, On One, etc. etc.   So....I asked if the Geek Squad could reinstall my programs for me.  The answer was an unequivacable "NO".  I was offered a 50% discount on some kind of Geek Squad service plan.  I do not understand why Best Buy still had the "affected" machines on their shelves.  They were well aware of the problem.  I am very angry that I bought an $1,100 machine and get this kind of service from them.  I will never ever buy another product from Best Buy.
My question now is....should I exchange this computer for a new one and go through the painful process of uninstalling and reinstalling all of my software or should I just accept Dell's offer to replace the motherboard?
If I were in your position I'd go with the Dell offer.  That way you can keep your software with minimal hassle.  However, it's inexcusable that Best Buy sold an affective machine that late in the game.  I don't know why this happened.
Another option would be to image the drive to a backup drive then do a full machine exchange - but keep in mind the image will likely fail to work properly if restored to a different type of machine than an XPS 8300.
If you do not have any storage devices connected to one of the four SATA2 ports of the motherboard (Only to the two SATA3 ports), you won't be affected by the defect so can continue using the machine until Dell does the motherboard swap.
