Icloud on my mac air

I would like to get icloud for my macbook air. Its one of the frst ones that came out so it doesnt have the software on it. That far i got.
But how can i get icloud? Is there some software update i can use or something?
I really appreciate any help i can get! Thanks

Lion will only install ontop of Snow Leopard, 10.6. Once that is installed, then Lion, 10.7, can be downloaded from the app store and installed. It is a two step process if you do not already have Snow Leopard on your machine.
Lion, 10.7.2, has the full iCloud functionality builtin.

Most of my email (prior to August 10th) just disappeared from iCloud. I'd like to figure out what happened to it and also to restore it.

ICloud download to Mac Air

Pages docs from my ipad are dowloaded to my Mac as .jpg files. In fact 4 .jpg files downloaded for each pages doc. Can someone help?

I can see the documents on my iMac but some won't open in pages which is bizarre? They will open if I change it to open with preview but then all I can do is read it - I can't add to the document - All I want is to be able to see all my documents on all my devices and to be able to have them sync so I can add to the documents from any of my devices. I also have an iPhone 6 and an iPadair2 but I would be happy just to have the iMac and macair sync for starters. I have folders within folders in my documents,. The folders which contain pdf's and individual files open OK . The one I am having difficulty with is the file which I use for ongoing correspondence - in other words it is quite long - I keep adding to it ( by copying letters in and letters out so I can see a sequential history of what has been going on by scrolling down ) in date order so that it could be 1 - 100 pages long - but I don't think the size is a problem. I don't understand why some folders can open and others not . Has anyone any suggestions please. I have been trying to get this to work for months since iCloud drive came in. It has got much better but it is still not good enough - or maybe it's me?

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

It appears that I can not share documents between my iMacs and mac air without first opening document in an IOS device. Is this correct? If so then iCloud for me is a giant step backward especially since idisk will be discontinued next year.

iwork on iOS uses different file formats ( *.tef ) then iwork09 on Mac ( *.key , *. number , *.page ).

Icloud dialogue box constantly pops up on mac air, mavericks

This set of images is popping up every time I use my mac air. this is a new devolpment. i am using my mac air in conjunction with ipads and an ipad mini and i do sync some things between them. i haven't made any recent changes to photos though and that is what this pertains to. I do use photo stream on iphoto on my mac air and between an ipad 2 and an ipad mini 1. I need to turn this off. Please help. carol

Sometimes turning iCloud off and then on will reset things and cause them to work normally.
Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I have an iphone that's functional & MBA's only a wordprocessor network'd to other machines & server. iclould serves NO FUNCTION on MBA. I have tried to remove it but have been unable to "log out".

Icloud is a web based service. If you are not actively using it, then it has no effect on your MBA.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.
See if the message has disappeared.

I'm afraid so. The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.

My calendar is not syncing between iphone and Mac air on iCloud.

The calendar entries I am adding either on my iphone or mac air via icloud are not syncying between the devices. Is anyone else having this problem currently? If yes, how can it be resolved. I have deleted the account and added it back in but to no avail.

Are all the devices set to actually sync calendar entries to iCloud? If any of them are set to sync with some other service (gMail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) while some of them are set to use iCloud then they can not sync. Or if they are set to iCloud but only set to sync say contact and bookmarks then they will not sync. They all have to be set to iCloud and they all have to have the calendar option selected.

Suddenly I cant log on to my mac air because it says that it is associated with an icloud account

I am unable to log on to my mac air using my password. t says that my account is assocaciated with my icloud and that I should change my pasword using another device. How do I do this?

- For the other problem you can try a reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- The next standard thing to do is to download/install a new app but you cant 'do that.
- Instead, try restoring from backup.

ICloud does not work with my mac air

I am working with mac air, using Iwork9 and safari. I failed to upload any iwork doc to icloud. I did exacly all the steps required but not way. I thought apple was going to be smart like dropbox.com but they are far behind.
I log into icloud.com and tried to drag and drop? NO WAY
I tried to find the setting icon to upload but it does not exist.
Any ideas
