ICloud on my Mac is using old Apple ID, how do I fix that?

My iCloud on my Mac is using an out of date e-mail address for Apple ID and an old password.  I want to make it the same as all my other accounts and use my present Apple ID for log in.  How do I change only the iCloud's info?

Hi Jeff D.,
Not really a help at all.  I had visited that page and read those articles.  As I understand it, the choices are to set a new password or to find my Apple ID.  I have a functioning Apple ID and password I use for all other Apple functions requiring them.  For some reason that I cannot explain, the i-Cloud access on my Mac has another Apple ID (an older e-mail address that is no longer valid) AND a different password.  I wish to make those the SAME as my Apple ID and password I use for everything else.  I assume that requires accessing both the incorrect Apple ID and password some where and changing them just for i-Cloud.  I also am guessing I would have to log in somewhere first using the Apple ID and Password I want to change and then changing that information to match my preferred Apple ID and log in.  Where and how do I do specifically that?
Regards,
Reg H.

my iphone 5 wont let me update apps keeps popping up with old apple id how do i fix this??

All apps downloaded/purchased are tied to the apple ID used to download/purchase them.
If you change your Apple ID and do not wish to use the old apple ID and password to update them, you have to delete them and redownload or buy them under the new apple ID.

    Hi QuisB123,
If you are having an issue with reclaiming free space after deleting photos from your iPhone, use the steps in this article to assist -
If you get a "Not enough free space" alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Specifically -
Orphaned files might remain on your iOS device if it's physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, you might see a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device in the Capacity indicator in iTunes. Try these steps:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • I want to delete an old Apple id how do i do that?

An old apple id pops up for my sons ipad mini but we cant remember the password so we would like to just delete that account. We tried to use "manage your account" and "lost the apple id" but got nowhere. Can anyone help?

The problem with the old ID is that it keeps automatically popping up on my Mac when I try to download udates - and it doesn't allow me to change the ID box, only the password.  I'm unable to run updates.
I've already gone to my Apple Account and updated it, but the old ID is still the default. Help!

  • I would like to buy an app but when I do it says there is an account billing problem and it brings me to my billing account but I want to use my iTunes card, how do I fix that

I can't buy or install any apps because it says that I need to fix my billing information but instead I want to use an iTunes card to buy the item I want but it wont let me

If you have a credit card on your account then it has to be a valid card - do you get the 'none' option on your account so that you can remove the card, or is there an error show anywhere on the card payment details screen so that you can correc it ?
As long as you are buying content for yourself and not trying to gift, then your balance should be automatically used for its purchase.

  • My iCloud mail is used in my old apple id, how can i move my old iCloud mail to my new apple id

my iCloud mail is used in my old apple id, how can i move my old iCloud mail to my new apple id

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Ai changed my email for my apple id, but i can't change my iCloud ccount because i can't remember my old password, and now i need to use iCloud for my new IPhone but it isn't working, how do i fix that?

i changed my email for my apple id, but i can't change my iCloud  account because i can't remember my old password, and now i need to use iCloud for my new IPhone but it isn't working, how do i fix that?

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.

  • Change Apple ID. I changed my Apple ID email to a new one but iCloud continues to prompt me for a password with my old email address. How do I change that? It won't let me even delete or access iCloud without a password for the old Apple ID.

When I got the iPhone about 4 weeks ago, I used an email for the apple ID and set it all up. Then I changed my Apple ID but now iCloud constantly prompts me with my old apple ID. How do I change this? I cannot make any changes to all the things I downloaded with the old Apple ID. I just updated my software to iOS7. I'm not sure if that changes anything (I am very new to the iPhone)

I had this problem for a while but i finally found a way that worked for me.
My old icloud account asked me for the password that i didnt have. And my old email was not registered as a valid appleid.
So i created a new apple id with my old email and a new password. Signed in no problems and then i could finally delete the old icloud account and sign in with my real one.
    Hope this works for you

  • I changed my id because I changed my email address, now I can't sing into iCloud because it is still using old address which is no longer recognized. How do I fix this?

I Changed my emal address so it would reflect my Apple ID . iCloud won't let me use my Apple ID it keeps going back to old email address. I put in password but it dosn't recognize the account because it no longer exist.  How do I change my iCloud I'd so it is the correct Apple ID ?

If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account.  You can either go to https://expresslane.apple.com, select "More Products and Services", then "Apple ID", then  on the next page select "Other Apple ID Topics", then "Lost or forgotten Apple ID password" and click "Continue"; or you can contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

    Hello Brookeg189,
You may be able to use the password for your existing iCloud account to get past this dialog.

i restarted my apple id email because i deleted my old email.. but now my phone won't backup to icloud because it's asking for the password to the old email. How would i fix this?

If your phone is signed into your old iCloud ID ("email"), you need to delete the existing account then sign back in with your new ID.  To do this go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. • I cannot utilize my iCloud account. I had an old Apple account. I had to reset to a new Apple Account. The iCloud will not accept either Apple Account

I have an iPad Air that I bought recently. I cannot set up the iCloud account.  I had an old Apple password.  I had to reset the password.  Now iCloud will not accept
either paseword. How can I fix this?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 running 10.8.4? Tried mini display to VGA cable

Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with a MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 laptop?  Would like to use larger screen when working at home.  I have a mini display port to VGA cable and have tried to hook up the old display but it seems not to work.  When I try to activate the screen on the old display-- a window comes up in the MacBookPro and asks me if I want to shut down the computer.  What little I have read it that the MacBookPro had Thunderbolt and the old display may not be compatible?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but it will likely cause other issues with your e-mail.
Here's my standard recommendation concerting the use of A-V software to deal with potentially infected messages:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix the corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.
