Icloud on pc renames my photostream pictures with weird names

Hi.
I have innstalled the icloud controlpanel on my computer. It automaticaly creates the folder icloud - pictures/Shared/my shared photostream. All my shared photos are automaticaly downloaded, but they have been renamed into something like this: 01a09427c8a7a0eb2ea1f2ff3e9622f48162c2e096.jpg
Does anyone now why ? And how to prevent this from happening ?
Arild

My photo stream is in iCloud, but only for 30 days.  Let me explain a bit more about how my photo stream works.  When you add a new photo on one of your devices, it is automatically upload to my photo stream (when you device is connected to wifi with the camera app closed and has at least 20% battery power remaining).  At this point the photo is on the iCloud server, and will automatically download to your other devices/computers when they connect to wifi.  However, it only remains there for 30 days, allowing your other devices/computers adequate time to connect and download the photo.  After 30 days the photo is removed from the iCloud server but will remain on any devices/computers that have already downloaded it until deleted.  Once it is removed from the iCloud server it cannot be downloaded to another device.  Thus, if the older photos are only on your ATV, that's the only place at this point that you'll be able to delete them.

    I'm assuming you have Photo Stream set up of both devices.  However, it seems many users are experiencing the same as you - my take is that streaming photos is not foolproof yet.

  • Batch Rename - Two File Formats with Same Name

    Hi everyone!
    I'm having troubles using the batch rename function i Bridge CS5.
    I've got several pictures that I've captured in both jpeg and raw. When importing the pics with windows photo import they get the same name. This means that I've got one JPG and one RAW file which contains the "same" picture, and have same name as shown below:
    What I would like to do is to rename the pictures, but still have Bridge name the same pictures with the same name as shown below:
         IMG_1268.CR2          ->          Picture 2011 - 0001
         IMG_1268.JPG          ->          Picture 2011 - 0001
         IMG_1269.CR2          ->          Picture 2011 - 0002
         IMG_1269.JPG          ->          Picture 2011 - 0002
    Is this even possible? And if possible, how?
    Thanks in advance
    Martin

    Most things are possible and so is this..
    Make sure you do a test first by copying the files to a temp folder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    First copy the script below and paste it into ExtendScript Toolkit (this gets installed with Photoshop)
    #target bridge
    var sels = app.document.selections;
    for(var a in sels){
    var f = decodeURI(sels[a].spec.name);
    var newName = "Picture 2011 - "+ zeroPad((f.match(/\d{4}/)[0]-1267).toString(),4)+ f.match(/\....$/);
    sels[a].spec.rename(newName);
    function zeroPad(n, s) {
       n = n.toString();
       while (n.length < s)  n = '0' + n;
       return n;
    Now open Bridge and select the files you want to rename, then run the above script from ExtendScript Toolkit.

  • Can i transfer pictures with file name from mac to iphone

    i am going on a buying trip and i want to download pictures of items to be ordered with their corresponding file names (not the IMG---) so that i dont need to lug my laptop around. is it possible, and where can i view pictures with their file name. is there an app for that in iphone. i have tried a paid Photonote app but it keeps on crashing and just gave up on it. and most apps needs the pictures to be taken by the iphone before adding notes or renaming them. i sorely miss the photoviewer on my old smartphone.

    Check out Evernote, or the basic file transfer apps such as FileMagnet, etc. Since you aren't really using these photos as photos, but just as files that hold info, you don't need a photo-specific app.

  • Finding pictures with new name?

    Hey All, please help.
    Problem:
    Iphoto will not show my pictures on the big screen. - this symbol show instead.
    I have changed the name of the original folder in iphoto libary, I know that's the reason the pictures is not displayd via iphoto but it's allready been done.
    Is there a way to help iphoto re-Locate pictures when the name of the original folder in iphoto libary have been changed? - note: the name of the indevidual picture is still as it was originally, only the folder name has been changed.
    I changed the name of the folders in iphoto libary to keep track of my pictures. I like my libary now but would like iphoto to be able to show pics aswell.
    What is the best way to manege pictures so iphoto and iphoto libary work together?
    Thanks alot in advance,

    nils,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Absolutely put it back as it was. Any changes you make to the folders inside the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder will damage your library.

    No, there is not. iPhoto creates the folders and places the files into its structure based on its programming. You cannot change anything inside the library folder. It may be helpful for you to see a diagram of the iPhoto 6 Library folder. The structure of the Data and Modified folders should match that of the Originals folder. The most obvious difference is that the Modified folder only contains folders and files that have been modified, and is a subset of the originals folder. The Data folder should match Originals exactly, except that the image files are the small thumbnails created by iPhoto. My thanks go out again to lori_diloreto for posting her diagram.
    What is the best way to manege pictures so iphoto and iphoto libary work together?
    You don't. You are confusing iPhoto with a file browser. It is not. It is a database application, which means that once you import the files into the library, you access them from within the application. To access them from any other means defeats the purpose of keeping them in a database.
    If you need to access your photos, there are several ways. You can drag a photo to your desktop and a copy will be created there. You can right-click (control-click) a photo and choose "Show File" from the contextual menu. A Finder window will open with the file selected. You can then Duplicate it and use the duplicate elsewhere. Better still, select all the photos you want and do File > Export > File Export to a desktop folder. This is the best way if you want to post photos to a website, upload for printing, or burn a disc to take to a photo developer. Once finished, you can delete the exports, as your photos remain in the library.
    One more note about the library folder: the folders which contain your image files are based on the Film Rolls in iPhoto. You can reorganize these, as long as you do it from inside iPhoto. Select Library from the Source Pane, set View to Film Rolls. You can edit the rolls' titles in the Info Pane in the lower left corner of the iPhoto window. You can move photos between rolls, consolidate, and create new rolls. The date of the film roll (not of the individual photo) determines into which Year folder a roll will be placed in the library folder. You can edit a roll's date, which is completely independent from the date of the photos. Of course, the only organization that really matters is that which you see from within iPhoto.

  • Tables created with weird names

    I ran some insert scripts on a 10g oracle db and found that some tables have been created with wierd names like 'BIN$+2KAmAoPTKO5tzd9l1bmBQ==$0' . I could not even rename/drop these tables. I get the error message
    "ORA-27235: Message 27235 not found; product=RDBMS; facility=ORA
    if someone has encountered this prob before please help..

    They're already deleted tables....
    Oracle 10g has a recycle bin, where deleted tables are not actually deleted.
    You have to run a command ( think it's "purge recyclebin" ) to delete them permanantly.
    regards,
    Owen

    I can't access a website on my computer, neither can my friends (none of whom had tried before I asked them to). However, people elsewhere in the world (and presumably elsewhere in the US) can. The address is http://agro.biodiver.se . Thoughts?

    Yes... quite often DNS caches in the internet are not fully consistent, you could end up using 4 or 5 servers before reaching the originating server. By that, I mean the caches being updated as a flow-out from the originating DNS, all the way to the DNS you are using.
    What happens when you try http://www.agro.biodiver.se ?

  • I need to be able to save pictures with a specific name and email as a .jpg file (not an jpeg image).  Any app suggestions to be able to do this?

    I purchased Photoshop Touch which let me save the picture with a name, but when I emailed it, is was an jpeg image.
    Anyone know how I can do this or have suggestions for other apps.   I've done quite a bit of research and having trouble finding this specific type of information
    Thanks!!

    Hi, I had the same issue. My solution was to take the freeware-tool clickto.
    So I'm now able to take any text, copy it and past it via clickto into a new mail.
    [http://www.clicktoapp.com Clickto ]expands your copy-paste feature by showing you some "satellites" after doing the copy action. These "satellites" now will give you some opportunities to paste your copied content, for example a picture to facebook or a text to a new mail on gmail with just 1 single click.

  • IPhone shown in Windows with wrong name, then with no name at all

    Hello there... i have recently upgraded to iOS 5; up until the upgrade my iPhone would be shown in Windows as "Graz's iPhone" , and it would have a DCIM folder with all my pictures and video inside. After the upgrade, the iPhone showed up in Windows Explorer as "David's iPhone" (David is a friend of mine who plugged his iPhone in my pc to recharge it weeks ago) and the DCIM folder had three other folders inside, with weird names, and the pictures and videos in them. To try and solve this, i uninstalled the apple driver from the Device manager, resulting in the iPhone shown as "Apple iPhone" with a generic camera icon, and it not being seen anymore in iTunes. (it would see it and sync it through wi-fi, but not as usb, so I couldn't restore or upgrade it). I browsed the Apple support, and managed to solve this. So now, iTunes works just fine, but Windows shows the iPhone with the right icon but as "Apple iPhone".. and still with the weird folders. Here's a screenshot:
    Solutions? thanks a lot!!

    Hello there... Hello Graz.
    Glad to hear that I am not alone. I have the same problem but a bit a reverse than yours.
    Recently I had also upgraded to iOS 5 as well. I have no problem using iOS 5 for a week or so connecting to my personal laptop (Windows 7) and also PC at work (Windows XP)
    What happened now is that a few days ago my friend (Bob) connect my iPhone to his personal laptop to transfer some of the pictures we have taken on my iPhone. Bob never use iPhone and no iTunes were installed to his laptop. Bob transfered the pictures using this software called "Readiris 12 PRO" (www.irislink.com) instead of the normal "Windows Explorer". He used Windows XP by the way. The transfer went well.
    Right the next day, I connected my iPhone to my laptop and started to experience the same DCIM folders problem Graz mentioned above except that my iPhone's name remain unchanged (Maybe the fact that Bob's don't use any iPhone - a bit contrary than "Graz-David" issues). I also noticed that all the pictures were grouped into several "alphanumeric" folders according to the month of the pictures taken. I could not delete some of the folders but I can delete the pictures or copy them onto my laptop.
    I had tried many ways to get thing back to normal but NONE of it (refer below) solved the issue I am facing. This include:
    Attempt 1: Reset my iPhone through the device itself via "Settings/General/Reset/Reset All Settings" - No data or media were deleted.
    Attempt 2: Reset my iPhone throught the device itself again via "Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content & Settings"- All media & data were deleted and all settings were reset. But then I used iTunes as a back up when sync back all my data (mainly apps). All media in Camera Roll were gone, some non-online apps data were also gone. So sad my all 3 STARS achievement on Angry Birds were also gone.
    Attempt 3: Reset my iPhone as in Attempt 2 but this time set as a New Phone without back up from iTunes. Quite happy when all those weird folder are gone. Took one snap and reconnect to my laptop. ****! The weird folder appeared again.
    Attempt 4: Started to feel like something is wrong with my laptop. So i restore my Windows to an earlier date (before Bob connect my iPhone to his laptop)
    Attempt 5: I installed iExplorer for iPhone (www.macroplant.com/iexplorer) so that I can browse my iPhone as an external disk and I couldn't find all the weird folders in DCIM. My intention were to delete them because I cannot delete those folders via Windows Explorer
    Attempt 6: Trying to connect my iPhone to other display laptops at shopping mall. Just want to diagnose either my Iphone is a problem or my laptop is a problem. It turned out that those weird folders still exist in DCIM when I browse it through Windows Explorer. So I kind of made myself understand that my iPhone is a problem.
    Attemp 6: Restore my iPhone via iTunes (USB Connected) and set it as a New Phone. Almost same like Attempt 3 except that restore process were done while my iPhone were connected to iTunes.
    None of the above work. Quite frustrated the fact that datas are now gone and yet problem UNSOLVED.
    I know it's quite a simple problem but quite annoying to find out that the DCIM folder is now not as perfectly as it used to be. Furthermore I hate those alphanumeric folders inside it where I can't either rename them or delete them. I attached below images as reference.
    Please help me too! Thanks a million

  • Accidentally merged photo stream with my moms if i get new iCloud will she still have my pictures on her devices?

    iCloud photostream merged with my moms so i have all her pictures on iPhoto; and I'm guessing she has mine. if i get a new iCloud account will my pictures disappear from her devices and hers from mine? i hope so.

    Apparently "find my iPhone" won't work unless I restart her cell service, which I can easily do. I think she might  need her phone powered on too for me to trace it and wipe it. She forgot her charger here and has no service on it, so won't have it on much. Maybe I can change my Apple ID altogether? As long as the new Apple ID doesn't somehow automatically go to her phone.

    I'm trying to use icloud to share pictures with a friend.  I also want him to be abe to share his pictures with me.  How can I do that?

    Set up iCloud photo sharing on your PC (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm1bdd9cae49), add photos to a shared stream and invite your friend as a subscriber.  Have your friend do the same with the photos he/she wants to share.  Note: if you don't have an iCloud account you will have to create your iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) or Mac as this can't be done on a PC.

  • Is there a way to photostream pictures from two separate iCloud accounts to the same mac, for display in iPhoto?

    Is there a way to photostream pictures from two separate iCloud accounts (two iphones that I own) to the same mac, for simultaneous display in iPhoto?

    On a Mac, PhoneView is one option (I've been happily using for a year or two). TouchCopy is another (have not heard anything negative about it).
    You'll only get back the low-res versions that were downsized when synced to the phone, but better than nothing.

  • How to Correctly Reflect Photostream Picture Orientations when Modified in iPhoto Libraries?

    Photos imported to iPhoto that are later edited to adjust orientiation (perform rotations) are not correctly updated in iCloud Photostreams.  This is exceedingly anoying if automatic uploading to Photostreams is being used because all pictures including incorrectly oriented pictures will be immediately uploaded.  Manual removal of incorrectly oriented pictures from Photostreams and manual upload after editing is required to fix the problem.
    1.  With Photostreams enabled and automatic in iPhoto, import photos from any source device or camera.
    2.  After imported and automatically uploaded to a Photostream, go to the stream and browse through pictures.
    3.  When a picture is incorrectly oriented, try to edit and note instructed to edit in Library.
    4.  Correct the orientation using rotate in Library.
    5.  Note that the incorrectly oriented picture remains in the Photostream.
    6.  Depending on upload setttings, a new picture with the correct orientation may be uploaded to the Photostream in addition to the unwanted, incorrectly oriented photo.
    To work around this bug, you must browse through the entire Photostream, remove all mis-oriented photos, correctly rotate them in the iPhoto Library, then manually upload them back to the photostream.
    Correct behavior would be to syncronize any photo edits with the photostream once they are performed so that pictures always look the same in the Library and Photostream.  Similar orientation problems exist if automatic uploading of photos from iOS is enabled.

    Your opinion
    Apple's appears to be that the correct behavior is that there is no connection between the PS photo and its source - once uploaded to PS it is not affected by any changes (orentiation or otherwise) made to the soiurce
