ICloud password request at start-up

During the past week or so, I've noticed a persistent request panel that appears during startup and asks for my iCloud password. I've never seen this request before. The first time it happened, it was accompanied by several other password requests for Apple related items. Now it only asks for the iCloud password. Is this a new security feature?

No, it shouldn't be doing that.  If this is happening on your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in (your data will download back to your Mac).  See if that stops the prompts for your password.

  • ICloud password request comes on screen and won't cancel or allow log in. other issues before this included flashing screen, safari help line invitation and redirected searches. have done safe reboots with mixed success.

had a new drive installed on my MacBook Pro and since then some problems have come up. at first i'd get redirects on my searches that would often lead to a popup stating Safari had a security issue and I should call a certain number.  I guessed that to be Bull and tried to correct the problem myself. Numerous safe boots would clear it for a use or two then back to the redirects again. Now the iCloud password request comes on after startup. it offers two options, cancel or log in. Neither goes anywhere. Is my next option only take in for a service call?

You might have to enter the password a few times before the prompts stop. If you don't actually use iCloud, sign out of it in the iCloud preference pane.

  • ICloud password request on imac

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to help my 90 year old father and having difficulty figuring out how to stop these pesky iCloud "Password Requests" that pop up whenever he goes to his computer.
I have gone into his Sys Pref > iCloud and un-checked all the boxes = still getting message to enter password.
Have read about a dozen threads on Apple Support forums, to no avail. Quite a few folks are upset with this dilemna.
He has a new iMac, MavericksOS, used to use Mac.com but has discarded that email and the whole account.
Please...can someone out there point me in the right direction? He calls me every few days about this and frankly is driving me a bit bananas. I have tried to tell him to just "ignore" these requests and get on with using his computer, but being that he is 90 and forgetful, he never remembers me giving him this advice.
Thank you for any and all responses and help.
    Adam

Finder -> Go -> Hold down the Option Key (ALT) -> Select Library -> Open the Preferences folder -> Move the file 'com.apple.systempreferences.plist' to the desktop -> Restart your iMac

  • ICloud password request at startup or restart

When starting or restarting Mac OS X 10.9.4, I get a dialogue requesting the iCloud password. Whether I answer the question or not, it does not matter. I must click on a response, Cancel or Login, to make the dialogue go away.
What new "feature" causes this bizarre behavior? So far, Mavericks has only created problems (esp. handling of external hard drives), and fixed nothing.

Check that the name of the computer has not changed in the Sharing preference pane.

  • ICloud password requested all the time

    Good morning,
From 2 weeks now, my iPhone doesn't stop asking my iCloud password every 10 minutes. When I enter it, nothing happens, no warning, nothing.
And I realized that I was disconnected from my iCloud from 2 weeks, so no iPhone backups and no picture backups... And my shared photostreams (flux de photos in french, I'm not sure of the english word) are no longer updated.
Curiously, that same password is still working when I want to download an App or access to iTunes... And more curiously, iCloud and shared photos are still working on my Macbook Air...
What can I do, except enter that password again and again, hoping it'll work some day?
    Thanks for your help,
    Oliver

I have the same problem because I changed the email address associated with my iTunes (Apple ID) account from my work email to my personal email. Later I created a work Apple ID using the email address that USED to be on my Apple ID. All was fine until my phone and iPad started asking me to sign in. All it showed was the old (work email address). I tried to delete/log out of Cloud so I could sign back in with the correct account, but it needs a password for the work email (old) version of Cloud. I tried the password I used to use with that email. No go. Then the new password used with the Apple ID that's now associated with that device. No go. Then the NEW password that's associated with the work Apple ID that uses the work email address it's prompting me for. Still no go.
Apple support was not helpful, said I had to call them from home so they could get onto my home computer. There MUST be a way of fixing this now (at work, with both iPad and iPhone).
    Thanks.

  • IOS 7.1.2 permanently iCloud password request, iMessage issue

I have an iPhone 4S. Since the last update the phone requested my Apple-ID-Password 3-6 times a day. A few days ago the phone deactivated the iCloud sync an deleted my contacts, calendar etc. An other day it deactivated iMessage. I have to activate iMessage and FaceTime about 1 time a week. Sometimes it starts a new conversation with my phone number, although my apple id is selected. Not to mention game center. sometimes i can reach it, sometimes not.
My boyfriend has the same problem.
I already deleted my account and reinstalled it. I did the same with the iTunes and Game-Center account. In this moment I'm trying to reset the phone, but now I have some trouble with the download. The whole thing totally drives me crazy.

What is your question? There is no question here.

  • ICloud password request on MacBook startup ???

On startup or wake-up, my MacBook Pro asks for Password twice and recently started to ask for my iCloud/apple id password. Suspecting some sort of phishing scam, I cancel out of the iCloud request and continue without further issues.  Any comments explaining this would be appreciated.

You might have to enter the password a few times before the prompts stop. If you don't actually use iCloud, sign out of it in the iCloud preference pane.

  • My ipad mini is not usable because it constantly asks for iCloud password. It also will not connect to network. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My son's ipad mini has become not usable because it asks for constantly asks for iCloud password. It says that it is not the correct password and the screen reappears. I know the password is correct because I can login to the website via another PC.
Part of the issue is that it appears not be connected to the network. It appears to be trying to then gets interuptted by the iCloud password request.
I tried to restore from iTunes when connected to PC, however, it says it cannot do this because Find My Phone has been activated on the ipad. To deactiviate I need to turn it off on the ipad which required my iCloud password (seems I am in a catch 22).
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
    Thanks.

Hopefully this will me get you back up.

  • I have a password problem. After importing data and settings from one MacBook Pro to a new one, I have to put my iCloud password in when re-starting, but the password from the old computer in when waking the computer from sleep.

I have a password problem. After importing data and settings from one MacBook Pro to a new one, I have to put my iCloud password in when re-starting the new computer, but the password from the old computer in when waking the computer from sleep. I want to use my iCloud password on both computers consistently. How can I fix this?

The only other place to change a password for the computer login is in Users & Groups preferences. But I don't really know enough here to fix your problem. You can try fixing the keychain:
iCloud- Frequently asked questions about iCloud Keychain
    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.

After changing my e-mail address, two iCloud accounts were created, my iphone is unusable due to password requests every few seconds and my iCloud account has been blocked. What can I do?

So, you are saying that you set up a brand new Apple ID and then signed into iCloud with it, correct?
Are you also saying both accounts are disabled for Security reasons? If not, why can't you sign on with the one that is not disabled?

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

  • ICloud password not accepted after start Yosemite

Since a few weeks I have the following issue on my MacBook, running the latest OSx version: After starting the laptop I am asked to choose a user to unlock my hard disk (FileVault). My password is accepted. A few seconds after the desktop is shown, OSx asks my password for my iCloud account. When I enter my password, the popup screen to fill out the password keeps returning. Like it is not accepting my password. When I press Cancel, the popup screen disappears and I can work without any trouble.
Entering my iCloud password on e.g. the iCloud site or when installing an application is going ok. I am using the same iCloud account on my macbook, iPad and iPhone. On the iPad and iPhone I don't experience any problems.
How can I find out which application is asking for my iCloud account or (even better) how can I solve this problem??
I already did a password change hoping that this would solve any syncing problems. Unfortunately this didn't help.
    Anyone?????????

I have this too. I had it for Facetime, but I logged out of it, but to log out of icloud i need to go into System Preferences, but it crashes every time i click on the Icloud icon. But only crashes for Icloud, everything else works fine.

  • How to kill iCloud password popup on Mac start up?

iCloud password is asked every time I reboot my mac. Can't turn it off. It makes me crazy! How to kill this popup? MacBook Pro Yosemite OS X 10.10.2 (14C109)

    Good Afternoon vonnavi,
If you are repeatedly being asked to enter your iCloud password on your Mac, try these steps to resolve the issue:
iCloud: Account troubleshooting - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203512
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click “Manage your Apple ID,” and try to sign in with your Apple ID. If you are unable to sign in, follow the steps provided there to reset your Apple ID account password.
I receive a “failed user name or password” alert when attempting to sign in at iCloud.com, in iCloud preferences (Mac), or in the iCloud Control Panel (PC).
Make sure that you're entering your entire Apple ID when you sign in (for example, if your Apple ID is [email protected], make sure that you aren't trying to sign in with just “username”).
Verify that the Caps Lock key is not enabled. All passwords are case sensitive.
Make sure that you're using the correct iCloud-associated Apple ID and not a different Apple ID used for other services. For more information about having more than one Apple ID, refer to Using your Apple ID for Apple services.
If needed, reset your Apple ID password at iforgot.apple.com.
If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud as you do for other Apple Services, (for example, Apple Online Store, iTunes Store, or Mac App Store), changing your iCloud account password also changes your password for the other Apple services. Make sure that you sign in to those services using your new password. Also, be sure to update your Apple ID password on all of your devices and computers that may use your Apple ID (such as any email applications that you use to receive iCloud email).
I can't sign in to iCloud on my Mac due to an alert stating that my email address has not been verified.
If you can't sign in due to the alert “Account not verified - Check your email for instructions for verifying your account”:
Close and reopen iCloud preferences before attempting to sign in to iCloud again.
If that does not resolve the issue, check your email folder and Junk folder for a verification email sent from Apple.
If there is no verification email in your email folder or Junk folder, click the Resend Verification Email button in iCloud preferences.
    Hope this helps ...
    - Judy
