ICloud photo and photo(beta) hidden files(photos)

Last week I copied my iPhoto to the new Photo. Everything went as expected, so happy with that. After that got a bigger iCloud package (200Gb) and started to copy my photo library to the cloud. And again everything went as expected.
Only in iPhoto I had a couple of photo's on hidden. The transfer to photo they stayed hidden! So all ok!
But today after completing the copy to iCloud (1 week), the pictures that should be hidden were not hidden on Photo on iCloud or any of my mobile devices! Is this normal or is there something going "still" wrong?
Love to know what is happening and how I can fix it. Beside copying the hidden photo to a other app and removing them from photo and the iCloud.

iCloud Photo Library keeps all of your photos in the Cloud which you then can selectively download. So, unless you download the iPad photos, they are not going to be taking up any room on your iPhone:

I restored the phone so had no apps on it at all and there was still this certain amount of space used up by documents ! I've already had it in to the apple store and they didn't seem to have a clue either ! Ugh ! Wouldn't mind so much if the phone was free with a contract but I actually spent 450 quid buying this phone and it's always full of "nothing" so virtually unusable

How do I find and free the hidden files on external drive?

I cannot see , or free, space on my external drive.
It is a Seagate Freeagent 500 GB disk. I am using 100GB for photos and music. Only 38 MB are reported free. How can I reclaim the rest of the space?
I had used in the past as Time machine backup. To create space I moved to trash the file Backups.backupd (as I now have another disk for Time Machine). I can't see this file in the Trash, and I can't see the space in Finder. How do I find / free the space?
The disk format is MAC OS Extended journaled. Disk utility reports no errors. I have run verify and fix, and also erase free space, with no result.

Erase free space only wipes clean the 38 MBs that are already free. Click here to see hidden files.
However, I'd just make a copy of the 100 GBs in use, and then complely wipe the disk.
Don't try to delete the Backups.backupd folder by Finder. It's not a good idea to mix Finder and TM.

I need to find and upload a hidden file for an app service issue

I need to locate a hidden file, filename.plist which is on a networked drive, and upload it to the company;s wed=biste for the to support the app. Obviously 'filename' is just a word. there is a long and complex filename.
Finder spins its wheels uselessly when I ask it to search. The action gear thingy has no useful options to see hidden files that I can see. And the upload part of the website, while it lets me enter the filename in the search box, just spins uselessly, too.
The file is held on a networked freestanding drive. That isn't of itself, any real problem. I just need to find it and upload it so I can get support. I don;t mind using some utility to grab a copy of it somehow, and uploading that! BUT I am not hugely technical, so I need to be spoon fed.

You can use Terminal to find the file you are looking for.
Let's say your network drive is named Net_Drive
find /Volumes/Net_Drive -name filename.plist
if you know the exact file name or
find /Volumes/Net_Drive -name *.plist
to search for all file names ending with .plist

Recovered data and can see hidden files

I just recovered about 200gigs of data (iPhoto Libraries, ITunes Libraries). I am looking through the folders and trying to clean up. I noticed lots of hidden which are now shown. Is their a simple way to hide all hidden files, like the Windoze settings 'hide all system files' ?

Try using one of these small utilities, like TinkerTool, Cocktail, OnyX for example.
There is a Hide/Show Hidden Files feature.

Hi folks, I have some hidden files and folders, which I was able to access before, and I used to click on the 'organise tab', view, Advanced Settings, show hidden files and folders, in order to hide or show the files.
Unfortunately there seems to be a problem, I just can't access my hidden files and folders any more, even when I go through this method.

First of all it would be nice from you if you post more informations about your notebook model and operating system. This should be done always to get a detailed answer.
Anyway, I never heard about such a problem but make sure that every files will be displayed:
Start Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View and enable the following options:
-Hidden files and folders: Show hidden files and folders
-Hide protected operating system files (this should be disabled > without mark).
Furthermore can you find these missing files using Windows search?
If not I assume the files are deleted from somebody or due a virus. :(

You need a third-party program to get non-iTunes purchased music off the iPod. Which have you tried? Th good ones cost like TouchCopy and PhoneView. Here are some others:

There is a much better alternative, instead of opening terminal back and forth for showing and hiding files, why not create a keyboard shortcut for it? Yes, it's possible. and the good thing is that every time you do it, it updates the Finder window automatically unlike the Terminal procedure you need to open or update the current Finder window.
Use Automator to add the shell script and manually add a new keyboard shortcut hot keys in System Preferences...

Hi I just bought a new macbook pro with maverick 10.9.3 I believe and made my hidden files viewable to extract certain data. But now I want to hide the files again how do I go about doing that?

You could try it in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
Then:
killall Finder

Seeing Hidden Files in Dreamweaver FTP (specifically .htacess)

I need to get into my .htaccess file so I can make some changes. Normally I would go through filezilla to do this, but for various reasons I cannot with this client. As a result I need to use Dreamweaver's FTP. You used to be able to do this by, going into the "Classic" workspace layout, clicking on view, and then selecting "show hidden files" Unfortunately it looks like this option / workaround has been disabled in the most recent version of Dreamweaver cc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can't get hidden files to show in finder

I have tried multiple methods to get hidden files to be shown in Finder including the Terminal command:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder
I have also tried using Revealer and still no hidden files are shown.
Using Mavericks 10.9.x (latest version)
Can't find the com.apple.finder file anywhere in Library either.

In that event there is something else wrong with your Mac. You wouldn't have happened to have installed MacKeeper. If you did, that's the reason why, and you can only fix that with this tip:

Can't see hidden files

Hi all,
I am trying to find a hidden file however when I type into Terminal the following command, nothing happens. I have tried relaunching Finder and nothing happens.
"defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE"
Before installing Mavericks, I used the an application called "Houdini" which worked fine. Now when I open that app and toggle the hidden files, nothing happens again.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Nevermind, I figured it out. Just had to type in
killall Finder
and then the command again and it worked

I have just upgraded to 10.10.3 and suddenly I see .Dear Sally_store files and many other hidden files.
Is there a way of hiding these again?

Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder. At the prompt enter:
chflags -Rf hidden
Leave a space after "hidden" then select and drag into the Terminal window the file or files you want changed, then press RETURN.

Visibility Status of hidden files

I use the AutoText plugin for custom text, graphics, etc. to insert in my doc.
In FM7.2, the AutoText menu files Visibility Status was set to Hidden, and they did not show up anywhere in the general interface.
It seems that with Frame 8, they're no longer checking the visiblity status of the open documents before they populate the list in the Import window.
(Example: File > Import > Formats and then the hidden files are in the list.)
Can this be corrected, please?

I will be installing FM8 on my brand new system this weekend (still in the box as I type). At that point, I'll also be installing the other utilities I use, and I'll check after each one to see if perhaps one of them is causing the conflict.
