ICloud Photo Library stopped syncing?

I recently updated my Macbook to the new version of Yosemite with the new photos software, however it's not letting me import more photos due to the fact it's still syncing.
When i looked, it said I have 15,310 photos to be synced! Which I don't have that many photo's at all!
So I decided to use the 'Pause of one day' option and then it tells me this
How do I fix this? it's been stuck on 5,000 images for hours
Thanks.

  • Is there a way to use iCloud Photo Library WITHOUT syncing?

The idea I had of iCloud Photo Library was that I could upload my pictures to it and access them from all my devices WITHOUT having to sync them.
At the end of every month, I move all the photos from my phone to my computer. It helps me save space and keep things tidy. With iCloud Library, I want to access all my photos, but it looks like I must sync them through iCloud, and then to save space in my phone, I have to select "optimise space for iPhone". Is there any way to use iCloud Photo Library as a mere cloud storage? I don't want to keep photos on my phone, neither full resolution or "optimised" ones. I want to put them on iCloud, and when I need them, then I want my phone to download them.
I realise I could use other cloud storage providers for this, but I have always liked Apple's integration with their own services, so if possible, I would like to use iCloud Photo Library without syncing to my devices. Just keep my stuff in iCloud, and when I tap it, download it.

Doesn't work well in IE8 (9 I would think is ok), but is fine in the current version of Chrome.

  • ICloud Photo Library not syncing on Mac

I am running OS X 10.10.3 (14D136) and turned on iCloud Photo Library over a week ago. It is stuck uploading on 2,033 originals to go. It has done 3000 already, but has been on this number for several days. I also have an iPhone 6 and iPad. New photos I am taking on my iPhone are not appearing in the All Photos section of OS X Photos.
Why has it stopped syncing - any ideas?
I have restarted, done a safe boot, repaired permissions, and logged out/in of iCloud.
    Thanks

I found a solution that worked for me.....It seems there were some pictures that were blocking others...
First pause the sync process in Photos Preferences.
To detect the corrupted pictures I created a 'Smart Album" with the conditions: Picture is referenced. Photos found all the pictures that lost there original ' reference' file. In my case there were only three.
I looked up these pictures in my iPhoto Backup (last backup before I switched to photos). This to be certain I still have the originals.
I deleted the corrupt pictures from my Photos Library and emptied the 'recently deleted' folder. This to make sure the corrupted files we completely removed from the library (Photos app also uploads 'recently removed' pictures...).
Then I proceeded the syncing process in Photos Preferences.
After it was finished I tried if modifications I made in Photos OSX came through on my iDevices. They did on my iPad, but not on my iPhone. So I turned off iCloud Photos on my iPhone (preferences). And after all pictures were removed I rebooted my iPhone and turned iCloud Photos back on. Then all Devices were in sync!
Finally I exported the pictures that were corrupted from my iPhoto backup and imported them into Photos.

  • Icloud photo library doesn't syncr from my iPhone

    Hello to everyone,
I Have activated iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone and on my iPod. My iPod sync, but my iPhone 6 Plus has stopped doing it for a long time. I have extra space available on my iCloud account. I've tried to disable and to re-nable the function on my iPhone. I've tried to logout and to logon in my iCloud account, but nothing change, the syncro seems frozen, remain stuck in uploading photos to the cloud, and do not download/show anything. I have uploaded in the iCloud Photo app on the www.icloud.com site more photos that i can immediately see on my iPod (touch 8gb 6th generation), but nothing on my iPhone. I restored my iPhone but nothing again. I know that it's a beta, but I would like to know if I can resolve this big issue for me in somehow.
Anybody here has had the same problem?
Many thanks in advance fo any suggestion/solution.

    Trent 1982 solution works!
I tried just about everything that I could think of as well as some of the solutions described above.  What worked was syncing my iPad with iTunes and transferring a few photos over to the iPad.  Then I turned on iCloud Photo Library and it asked to delete the photos I transferred and then iCloud Photo Library started syncing!
This problem has been bugging me for weeks and I am glad that it is fixed now!

  • Missing movie files in my project since iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library

    Hello all,
I've been to New York at the start of 2014 and created an awesome movie project in iMovie for iOS. That was when iOS 7.1.2 was the most current release. Today, I wanted to finish up my project. I'm currently running iMovie 2.1.1 on iPad air 1 running iOS 8.1.2 and iCloud Photo Library is enabled since day one. I Opened the project today and iMovie told me there are missing movies in the project and offered me to search for them. It only found 2 out of 140 or something. Now my project timeline is filled with clip with exclamation marks and many transitions with pictures in them are missing too. I tried to download clips that are in iCloud by tapping the Cloud icon but iMovie still cannot find them. Ive also tried importing from iCloud drive, disabling iCloud photo library and syncing the movies from iPhoto using iTunes on my iMac but iMovie cannot link them to the project. I'd hate to see hours of editing work to go down the drain.
    Hope someone can help.
    RF

Ok, so sinc you turned iCloud photo library, that automatically delets all of your current photos. I found that out the hard way. I'm sorry to hear that your editing has gone to waste.   It is still odd that some media was saved though.

  • Photo library not syncing all photos

iCloud photo library and syncing (not all photos)
I seem to have an issue with iCloud photo in that on my iPhone I have 2,224 photos, on my iPad it shows I have 2,211 photos and on my Mac it shows I have 2,209 photos And on icloud photo library on the web show 2,270 photos. For some reason all the photos on iCloud Photo Library are not getting sync'd to the other devices. On the bright side all my videos are sync'do across all devices properly!
Anyone know how I can resolve this issue?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
I realize that this is the iTunes forum. I'm using iTunes to sync my iPhone so it seems the right place. I've also cross posted in the iPhone Forum.

  • ICloud Library stopped sync'ing

I have Photos.app and iCloud Library on two computers, sync'ing with an iPhone 6. Everything was working perfectly for a week - any changes on one device showed up on the others very quickly. Then suddenly my main computer stopped receiving updates. Newly shot photos show up on my laptop and at icloud.com, but never appear on my main machine. Photos on the main machine says "Last updated Monday" (it's now Friday).
I've tried restarting, and tried pausing and resuming sync in the prefs, but nothing seems to get it going again. All machines are on the same wifi network, the phone is fully charged, all updates are applied.
    Ideas?

Solved! But it wasn't pretty. In case it's helpful to others, here's how I solved it:
I finally got desperate and in the preferences, disabled iCloud Photo Library, then after a few minutes, re-enabled it. When I re-enabled it, it said I had 86 "referenced files" that it needed permission to access. After some Googling, I realized that referenced files are files that don't live within the Photos library folder, but that are linked to. It then told me to find these referenced files and pull down File | Consolidate to bring them into the Photos library. It did not tell me *how* to find them, but I got creative and made a Smart Album of all images with type "referenced."
The smart album revealed the problem images, but when I selected some and pulled down File | Consolidate, Photos said it needed permission and told me to navigate to ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2012 and put up a file navigation dialog. So the "referenced" files were still in iPhoto! Huh? My other 20,000 images had migrated over just fine.  No idea why this was. But here's where the 2nd problem began. I *could not* navigate to that folder, since "iPhoto Library" does not appear in the Finder as a folder. So the dialog was telling me to do something  impossible.
After puzzling on this for a while, I realized that the problem could be solved by deleting the references to external files from Photos and re-importing them manually. I launched iPhoto and manually found all 86 images (they were from three  albums and fortunately I'm good about titling and labeling, so was able to find them easily. I then exported them from iPhoto as full res originals, deleted the references in Photos, and imported the old problem images as if they were new.
Photos then churned against iCloud overnight. By morning, it had become unstuck, and the photos I've shot over the past week are now present.
So the problem was not the new photos, but some old photos that for some reason had not migrated over from iPhoto properly. And Photos was recommending a fix that was impossible to achieve the way it was instructing me to. What a mess.

  • Photos have stopped uploading to iCloud Photo Library

I turned on iCloud Photo Library on my iPad Mini & iPhone 5S on Wednesday last week. Friday night it stopped working on both devices. It keeps trying to upload but then reverts to saying "Uploading 1 photo". How do I get this working again without losing the photos I have taken in the meantime?

    Hi,
I had this exactly. My iPhone and iPad got stuck just moments after I enabled Icloud Photo Library.
I then plugged my ipad overnight to a charger and in the morning, it was all synced
So I plugged my iphone and it immediately started syncing the rest.
    Hope it helps someone

  • Initial sync of Photos from iPhone to iCloud Photo Library freezes

I had about 13,000 photos on a MacBook Pro (10.10.3) in iPhoto. Imported all to Photo, turned on Photo Library and they all transferred and synched to iCloud. Turned on iCloud Photo Library on two iPads (iOS 8.3) and one iPhone 6 and they synched just fine; all four devices now show the same set of photos and changes to any photo on any device are almost immediately reflected on all other devices. Very cool!. But my wife's iPhone 6 got about 15% of her photos synched to the cloud and then the upload/download process just stopped—that was about a week or so ago. I read Walt Mossberg's description of a similar problem he had (a "rare bug") when turning on iCloud Photo Library that required a special fix from Apple. Something to do with a photo having multiple copies on iCloud that caused the sync process to freeze. But I can't find any fixes for the problem except taking all photos off the phone and then synching, and then reloading the photos, but that sounds a bit scary.
Can anyone help? It's frustrating to have had the process work so well on four devices, only to have a fifth freeze. All are updated and all have similar settings.

  • ICloud Photo Library: How to prevent some photos from being uploaded/synced?

When iCloud Photo Library is on, every photo will be auto-uploaded and synced to all linked devices/computers, is there any way to specify which ones not to be uploaded? I know I can 'hide' photos so they won't appear in 'All photos', but they are still accessable from Albums.

No you can't be selective with what gets uploaded to the cloud. You might consider having a second library for photos you don't want in the cloud.

  • ICloud Photo Library: How to sync iPhoto/Aperture albums?

After installing iOS 8 and trying to access Photos, users are presented with a notification titled, "iCloud Photo Library (Beta)." A subsequent message warns, "Photos synced from iTunes will be removed. Syncing photos via iTunes is not supported when iCloud Photo Library is turned on. (#) photos will be removed."
What is this supposed to mean?
Mac users may currently organize photos into events and albums using iPhoto or Aperture. Until now, they could also select specific albums and events to sync to specific iOS devices via iTunes. According to this message, if the user turns on iCloud Photo Library then these synced photos will be deleted from the iOS devices and they will no longer be able to sync them with iTunes. However there is no explanation of whether, when, or how this functionality will be replaced.
My hope and expectation is that the upcoming Photos app for OS X will allow users to import their iPhoto or Aperture library with all events, albums, and meta data intact, provide the option to upload their collection to iCloud Photo Library, and then allow specific photos, albums, and/or events to be viewed and/or downloaded on to specific OS X and iOS devices.
Assuming this assumption is correct, though, we'll have to wait until next year's release of Photos for OS X to regain this functionality.  If that's the case, this advisory should explicitly say so.

Because IMO Apple has never cracked photo management, I organise all my photos on my MacBook and sync the photo's folder to my iPad and iPhone via iTunes. This gives me the organisation I require, but it means I cannot do much at all with the synced folder except view the photos on my iPad and iPhone.
I just enabled the iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone, this deleted all the iTunes synced folders from my device, I expected it to upload all those photos to the cloud and then delete them from the device, but it actually just deleted them all and uploaded a few odd's and sods I had in my camera roll.
I am currently unsure how to get my main photo library into the cloud as the Photos app is not yet available for Mac!
So do not enable it if you manage your photos like me and you want your back catalogue!!
I am very hopeful that Apple is about to crack photos management in an MASSIVE way, but until the Mac Photos's app come out continuity between iOS and Mac OS is still very broken.

  • Upgraded OS: How Can I Get iCloud Photo Library or Photostream to Sync to a Dedicated Mac Folder?

I'm totally frustrated and confused even after Googling. Hopefully someone can help me understand what it is Apple wants me to do.
As of yesterday, when I took a photo or uploaded a photo to any of my devices, it would transmit via Photostream to all my other Apple devices (iPad, another iPhone, Windows PC, and MBP).
Now I found it infinitely frustrating that while the photos would neatly deposit themselves in a specific Photostream folder on each device, even my PC has a dedicated Photostream folder provided by Apple's iCloud app for PC, there was no such folder or provision for Macs!
In order to access my Photostream on my MBP, I either had to open Aperture or iPhoto, or go to iCloud.com and then import the photo.
I upgraded to iOS8 on my primary phone to finally to take advantage of iCloud Photo Library and have the photos sent directly to my Mac's (running Yose) iCloud Drive folder --- or so I thought. Not only do I not get photos on my Mac's iCloud Drive Folder, it seems to have broken the link between my other devices!
To add injury to insult, my Phone sent me a "Could not back up - iCloud Storage almost full" message. Considering I had 2GB of iCloud storage available, I was shocked to read the fine print on iCloud Photo Library ... it uses your iCloud's storage, unlike Photostream which is totally free.
Is there any way or program anyone has found to deliver a seamless and intelligent Photostream folder on a Mac that behaves seamlessly and intelligently as it does with Apple's PC iCloud App and iOS native Photostream?

That's correct but your 10.6.8 machine has no way to put it there unless you manually enter it on the website.
That to sync data from iCal and Address Book in Snow Leopard to the iCloud server you must manually register and connect to the iCloud.com website which I have done.
You can't sync from Address Book or iCal in Snow Leopard.

The syncing to the same data in Mountain Lion is done via the System Preferences > iCloud, which I have done.
Supposedly that means the data on the iCloud server is then shared between the iPod Touch, SL and ML, but it is not.
Because data entered on the SL machine never makes it from iCal or AB to iCloud or from iCloud to AB or iCal, the link breaks there.. You can use a 3rd party app (Soho) and use it instead of AB and iCal.
But the problem exists on ML as well.
I get only some Contacts and iCal events transferring.
What you are seeing is probably from SL account which I use 95% of the time. Particularly my Address Book entries. I hardly entered any of those in ML, they virtually all come from SL and seem to have transferred previously. Possibly before the latest iOS updates, but I can't swear to that as I didn't check before/after.
The vast majority of my Address Book entries appear in both iCloud.com and my iPod Touch, but not my latest changes.
This is far from the "It just happens!" promised by Apple.

  • I cannot view/sync albums from iPhoto on my iPhone whilst iCloud photo library is on. Why? and is there a way of doing it.

I cannot view/sync albums from iPhoto on my iPhone whilst iCloud photo library (beta) is on. Why? and is there a way of doing it. It is especially frustrating given I have subscribed to more space yet I have to turn it off to view!

I found the answer in another discussion group, so I have just erased everything through settings on my new iphone and in Backups on itunes, I have clicked on restore back up. So it appears to be working.

  • IPhone video sync quality to iphoto after iCloud photo library enabled

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how this works.
Since I opted to enable my iPhone 6 to optimize videos and photos that are stored locally on my phone, I presume this means that after I record a video, this will be synced to iCloud photo library in full quality, and thereafter removed from my phone, only to be replaced by a compressed version of the same video, and thereby reducing the amount of space needed on the phone to store the video in question. Correct?
If so, why is the result of a manual sync with iPhoto a couple days after enabling the feature, all my videos in full resolution? I mean framerate, data rate and resolution is the same as it always has been and doesn't seem compressed in any way. I know how iCloud would compress the file because of the current download bug on iCloud.com also discussed on this forum that only makes it possible to download the compressed version of the videos even though it seems to store them in full quality. The compressed version is only 720p and about 3500kb data rate.
Any clues? Maybe it's just a beta bug. I mean the videos on my phone should all be a compressed since I can see the at iCloud.com and thereby also sync to iPhoto in compressed form.

Because IMO Apple has never cracked photo management, I organise all my photos on my MacBook and sync the photo's folder to my iPad and iPhone via iTunes.
