ICloud photo stream for PC still doesn't work

I just read this 16-page comment thread about how photos merging won't work with iCloud Control Panel 3 on PCs:  My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0
The thread goes back about nine months without a solution.  I have the same problem and need to find a fix.
We have about 15 iPads for customer use at our business.  We occasionally upload photos to these devices and customers are allowed free use of the iPads.  The devices are fixed in place and connected to a power supply and WiFi.  My computer is a Windows 7 64-bit running iCloud Control Panel 3.1 on a separate WiFi network on property.  The problem is photo downloading and uploading only works intermittently.  Sometimes new photos populate in my PC's photo stream but usually they don't.  The same is true when I try to push photos from my computer onto all the iPads using the upload folder.  It usually works but not always.
This might be a minor annoyance for an Apple customer with one iPad but it creates lots of unnecessary work for a business because I have to use Dropbox to upload photos and have someone check the iPads for inappropriate photos daily.
The photo stream seems to work well between the iPads.  It just seems the iPads don't play well with iCloud on PCs.  I'm surprised this type of problem has persisted so long at Apple.

Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.

How Do I Use One PC (Windows) To Run iCloud Photo Stream for Two Users? I and my wife have two Iphones (iOS 6.1.4) and we want to have use 2 iCloud accounts for one PC.

Disregard the question. The solution has nothing to do with any "Firefox bug". Turns out that my session wasn't being managed properly. Or rather, I was accidentally deleting other users' information when new users logged in. So if I had user 1 and user 2, and user 2 logged in after user 1, some of user 1's information would be deleted, resulting in the errors.
Oops; sorry about the false alarm. :)
(Was hoping to retract the question, but it looks like others have a similar problem.)

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Photo Stream in my iPad2 doesn't work. Help me

Since I have updated my iPad 2 to 5.1.1 version, the photo stream worked well but today it doesn't. I capture one photo in my ipad but that photo isn't uploaded to photo stream so i can't get it in another devices.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem? Thanks all so much.

  • Can't load photos into iCloud photo stream for sharing (from iMac)

In iPhoto, I select an event, hit "Share >> iCloud",  then "add new stream", then get the dialog box, then enter a friend's email, then hit "share". then get message "xx photos were posted". But when I look at my iCloud there is only an empty data stream (correct title but zero photos).

Where are you looking at the stream? On the same mac or on an iOS device?  Do you see the shared photos in the iCloud section in the iPhoto library? Is your Wi-Fi working correctly?
Can it be, that you have hit one of the sharing limits?

If you have exceeded a limit, you may have to wait, before the photos will upload.

  • HT201077 iCloud Photo Stream on Windows no longer Streams

I have a Windows PC, and have used iCloud Photo Stream for a while.  A few months ago, the streams just stopped appearing.  I have logged out, then back into iCloud.  I have changed the folders to be used for Photo Streams.  But, no matter what I do, I can no longer get streaming on my Windows PC.  The streaming between my iPhone and iPad works fine.  I suspect that this tool place with a recent upgrade of either iTunes or iCloud, but this problem has been with me for six months or longer, and I would have expected others to have had the same problem (so that it could be fixed).

I think I have found the reason for our problems?  Photo Stream will only upload photos with a "Date Taken" date higher than the date when you initialised or when you last reset your Photo Stream.  So if you are trying to upload older photos it won't work,  They should be fresh out of the oven to be Photo Streamed.
I have managed to Photo Stream older pictures by using windows to copy and remove all Properties and Personal Information then setting the Date Taken to todays date before mobing the photo into the Upload folder.  Still, it seems a little hit and miss so there's probably something else being checked to validate photos can be Photo Streamed.
So iCloud will move photos between your Windows 7 machine and your iOS5 device but it's a little picky about which ones it will allow. If you can figure out what exactly are the parameters please do tell.

  • If I delete all my photos in my camera roll will it still be in my iCloud ??? And I made a photo stream for pics of me and my friends is t in my iCloud ? I want to delete all my pictures but will it be in my iCloud ?

If I delete all my photos in my camera roll will it still be in my iCloud ??? And I made a photo stream for pics of me and my friends is t in my iCloud ? I want to delete all my pictures but will it be in my iCloud ?

Don't rely on iCloud to back up your pictures.  It's designed to sync them to your devices, not back them up.  Photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing your devices enough time to download them.  But if you ever lose your device, or have to replace it, any photos older than 30 days will no longer be in iCloud to download.
To keep your photos, import them to your computer using your usb cable while they are still in your camera roll, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  After importing them, you will be given an option to delete them from your device.

  • HT201317 If I don't want to use photo stream, can I still upload a bunch of photos to iCloud and then share them with people who do not have iCloud?

If I don't want to use photo stream, can I still upload a bunch of photos to iCloud and then share them with people who do not have iCloud?

iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with the old MobileMe Gallery. Apple have provided a sample album here.
There are various other photo gallery services which you may find preferable: some of them are examined here -

  • HT201317 Yesterday I have upgraded my itune and icloud on my PC, now I notice my photo stream in my PC doesn't not get latest picture I took from my phone. Please advice what to do?

Yesterday I have upgraded my itune and icloud on my PC, now I notice my photo stream in my PC doesn't get latest picture I took from my iphone 4s (IOS 7.0.4). Whenever I open icloud photo, my PC prompts me the message below. Please advice what to do?

    Hello
Try restoring the device and setting up as new.
If it is still shows an iCloud activation lock, then it's on an iCloud account
The wrong device was removed from an iCloud account.
Check any other Apple IDs you might have at
                 iCloud.com
Get signed into them and remove that device.
I wish this was the first time I seen this.
    Best of Luck

  • TS3989 I have photo stream setup on iPhoto on my macbook pro and I just got 2 iPhones for my family and only one streams photos to iCloud photo stream.  Both iPhones have the same Apple ID and have Photo Stream turned on.  Shouldn't both iPhones stream ph

I have photo stream setup on iPhoto on my MacBook Pro and on 2 new iPhones that have the same AppleID as the MacBook Pro.  However only one iPhone will stream photos to iPhoto on the MacBook Pro.  All these devices were purchased in the last 2 weeks.  What setting is wrong?

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

Photos that have been permanently deleted from iPad and iPhone are still appearing in iCloud photo stream on iPhoto.  Aren't the devices supposed to sync with each other?

Now delete them from the Cloud...

I have Lightroom 4 and a new 70D camera and when I try to important my photos Lightroom says it doesn't recognize my CR2 files.  Can someone help?  I have downloaded 8.3 from Adobe, but still doesn't work?

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.

  • TS3989 iCloud, Photo Stream

I've tried all your suggestions here and my Photo Stream still doesn't work. I'm using iPhoto 11, I'v updated all my devices to the latest software versions on all my devices and it still doesn't work. I have not upgraded to Mountain Lion yet and I recently purchased an iPhone 5. What is the problem?

Well ... I can't get Photo Stream to turn on with iPhoto on my Mac.
From the various instructions from Markwmsn immediately above, I have, or have done the first six points:
    * Device(s) on iOS5.1 or later
    * Mac(s) on 10.7.3 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or later (10.8.2 and 9.4 for Shared Photo Streams).
    * All device(s) and Mac(s) are signed in to the same iCloud account.
    * On the iOS device(s), Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream is "On" (and Shared Photo Streams if desired)
    * On the iOS device(s), Settings > Photos & Camera > My Photo Stream is "ON" (and Shared if desired)
    * On the Mac(s), System Preferences > iCloud > Photo Stream is active
But when I try to do the next step ...
    * On the Mac(s), iPhoto > Preferences > Photo Stream > Enable Photo Stream is checked.
... when I try to check the box for "Enable Photo Stream", I get an error message:
"Sign in to Photo Stream using iCloud.  In order to use Photo Stream, you have to be signed into your iCloud account in System Preferences.  Cancel / Continue."
BUT in the System Preferences, I AM ALREADY SIGNED INTO my iCloud account, and indeed it is working fine for all the other features (Contacts, Calendar, Notes, etc.)

  • Download video from iphone icloud photo stream to mac?

    I have a iPhone 4s iOS 7.1.2 and a 2012 MacBook 13" OSX 2.9 i7 dual core on Mavericks 10.9.5
I'm using iPhoto 9.4.3 on my Mac
The issue: after filming several biking videos on my iphone, I ran out of space.
So I 'shared' in a icloud folder I have called 'Bikes'.
I then deleted the video files on my iphone.
The issue:  when I got home and tried to sync my iphone pictures and videos to the Mac,
only the photos were synced to the library and the icloud photostream album.
    The videos were nowhere.
The videos seem to be only available to view on the iphone icloud album.
The only way to share the video is to share the entire album and force the sharees to open an icloud account (something I do not want to inflict on friends).
Creating a smart album on iphoto to find all videos doesn't help either as the videos aren't on the hard drive, they're on icloud.
How can I get back control of my video content?  I simply want to download MY OWN videos to MY OWN hard drive.
Would an upgrade to Yosemite help me?  Would this enable one to access one's own video content in icloud and be able to download it to one's own hard drive?
Anyone else frustrated by iphoto/icloud video limitations?

    Thanks for answering Léonie,
But I'm cool with creating private and shared albums, thing is, they are not the same depending on whether you view them from an iPhone and MacBook.
The same iCloud/photo stream album eg. 'Bikes' contains pictures and videos when viewed from an iPhone but when viewed from a MacBook, the videos have mysteriously disappeared.
All I want to do is:
1/ Download the video files from iPhone iCloud to my iPhone (4s on iOS 7.1.2) Camera Roll (not possible)
2/ Download from MacBook iPhoto/Photos stream/album to my MacBook hard drive, but it's not currently possible (osx 10.9.5).
The only place where these particular videos are is in the iPhone version of iCloud/photo stream album.  I (increasingly regrettably) deleted the original videos from my iPhone Camera Roll after I had added the videos to the iCloud photo stream album.  I know I can easily download photos from my iphone/icloud photostream album but downloading a selected video gives me a greyed out sharing option button.
Reading about Yosemite upgrades on my 2012 MacBook (2.9 i7 dual core, 8Go RAM) I am very, very wary about upgrading my MacBook to Yosemite and Photo just for this issue, especially if I still can't access my video file and have to face hours of data recovery/formatting and full reinstall! Not to mention risking having incompatibility issues with my database/analytics software!
