ICloud photo sync stops after 30% of my collection (30000 pics)

With the latest update of Yosemite I finally switched to Foto iso iPhoto.
I switched on the iCloud option and  expanded my storage to 200gig.
I have a collection of 30000 pics (yeah, I need to clean up )
It started syncing ok (although slow) but now it completely stopped at 10400 pics).
New pics taken by the iPhone end up in iCloud (I see them fine on the iPad or AppleTV) but don't sync with Foto (of Photo).
Advice anyone?

I have the same problem, my library has 52000 photos, but stopped uploading to iCloud with 37384 pictures to go... very annoying!
Is a way to "reset" Photos so it starts uploading again?
I have plenty of free iCloud storage left, so that isn't the problem.
BTW, Photos (agent) has been using all my computer's resources for three days now, I find it very that irritating Photos has no user control about its large memory, disk space and CPU usage... If it keeps doing it I will have to stop using it and switch to other photo management software that lets me decide what I want to do with my computer

  • TextEdit, Calca, Numbers photos syncing stop to work

    Hello,
Since Mavericks have been having some obscure, difficult to formulate problem. In the nutshell, some programs (TextEdit, Calca to name the few) cease to work under unknown circumstances (nothing magical, I just missed the moment when it happens).
A couple of times photos synchronization (with iOS devices using iTunes) stopped to work. Synchronizing them took so much time that I never had patience to wait till it ends (waited an hour or more). Guess it somehow may be connected to the former problem.
I have the strong inkling that it happens after some new app is installed. When I installed Team Viewer a month ago or so the photo sync stopped to work also. After rebooting everything returned to normal.
Week ago installed Aquamacs, sync wasn't affected, however TextEdit was.
After restarting the system everything returns to normal.
How TextEdit doesn't work (the same applies to other programs):
Icon of the App jumps for a while. Menu of the App appears. No windows of TextEdit, menu irresponsive. Terminating only by 'Force Quit'. See no relevant records in the log (Console). If the records in log somehow connected to the TextEdit, the relation is too distant for me to recognize it.
Checked the disk with Disk Utility, nothing serious,
"The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK.",
    some messages of permissions like
         "Permissions differ on “Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/Safari.help/Contents/Resources/"
Googling and analyzing for some months. Many quite contradicting suggestions, like reinstalling the OS or just checking the /Library permissions. None of them looked to me very reliable to rush doing it specially killing the OS.
Seems the bug (?) affects the app which uses iCloud.
    Presently:
    Mac OS X 10.9.2
    MacBook Pro 13'
Careful usage, no suspicious software, mainly Apple made, except few like Aquamacs, VLC, TextMate, etc.
    TextEdit Version 1.9 (310)

One by one or a few at a time the permssions conflicts may not matter.  Mine were quite large in number having accumulated over 4 OSX upgrades.  There was also a problem with  a "pointers / blocks" reference.
In my case the situtation led to a condition that manifest itself as if it were running out of disk space in a partition while Get-Info reported there was plenty of space unused.  In adition some of the apps became quite slow and displayed erratically.
There may have been some other aspect as when the "Genius Bar" guy booted up my MBP with his network version of Mavericks he then ran a special version of Dick Utility that "fixed" the disk in about 1/2 hour wall clock.
I'm glad I live close to an Apple store.

  • TS3989 iCloud photo stream stopped updating today at about 4pm?

I use iCloud photo stream via my PC  to upload photos to sites that are incompatible with my iPad  and iPhone. Today at about 4:00 iCloud stopped uploading photos from my iPad to my PC. It's been over 5 hours and nothing. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Does this have anything to do with the mail blackout yesterday, maybe the mail fix messed up photostream?  Are there any settings that could have been changed that I should check? If anyone has knows a way to deal with this...someone elsewhere said uninstalling iCloud on the PC then reinstalling it...can someone please tell me how to do that? Please help my business is at a complete standstill with no end in sight.

    Hello,
For some reason, my images stopped syncing between my devices. I brought it up to one of the Genius Guys at the Apple store. They told me to go into my iCloud settings and delete the account on the device (first do a back up). Then they said for me to go back into the iCloud settings and re-enter my iCloud settings. It took a little bit for all the images to pop up, but it worked. Good luck to you.
    Cheers!

  • ICloud photos sync with today's date instead of date taken

I just got a new laptop for work and installed iCloud to sync my PhotoStream to it. The photos all synced, but they are displaying a modified date of today instead of the date the photo was originally taken. On my old laptop, the photos seemed to display a Modified Date closer to the date they were taken. When I look at the photos on my iPhone, they all have the correct Modified Date. Something is causing the Modified Date to be switched to today's dte when they sync. Does anyone know why? Is this always how iCloud works and I just have noticed it because my photos were syncing to my laptop as soon as I added them to the stream? Or is there an iCloud setting or file system permissions thing causing this?

thank you for your response. strange, though, the vids used to export with the file date that i shot the vid... it's only since i updated iphoto that this is happening. but i like your idea of adding the date to the file name... i just wish i didn't have to do that extra step now, since i have a lot of videos.

  • ITunes/Photoshop Elements Photo Sync Fails After PSE Upgrade

After upgrading from Photoshop Elements version 9 to version 13, the iTunes "Sync Photos from Photoshop Elements" feature no longer works.
iTunes continues to show the albums from version 9, and photo syncing any of the albums causes iTunes to fail into an un-ending loop without an error message. Photo syncing from other folders works fine.  I temporarily re-installed Elements 9 and iTunes photo sync began to work, but using the old version 9 photo catalog.
Is there a fix that will get iTunes to sync with Elements 13 photo albums? Are there files or registry entries that need to be re-pointed to the Elements 13 photo catalog?
I'm running Windows 7 with SP1 and iTunes 12.0.1.26 on a very capable HP PC.
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks ... Tom

While I haven't heard a solution to posts I've made to both Adobe and iTunes sites, I have found a manual workaround.
The catalog files that iTunes uses are of the format "catalog.pseXdb".
In my case, the new catalog is "catalog.pse13db" and the old is "catalog.pse9db". These files are found in catalog folders like: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\Elements 9 Catalog
    With iTunes and PSE closed,
    1) copy the catalog.pse13db file to the "Elements 9 Catalog folder.
    2) rename the old catalog.pse9db file to keep it and deactivate it
    3) rename catalog.pse13db to catalog.pse9db
iTunes will continue to use the older catalog file, but it now has new catalog contents.  The manual part is that this will need to be done prior to each time you want to sync new catalog content to your devices.
Somewhere around PSE version 7, the catalog file format changed, so this technique may not work for upgrades from about v7 upward.

  • Why has my icloud photo stream stopped working on windows xp

I am unable to photo stream through iCloud anymore I have done it recently but it has stopped working, I've updated everything but when the control panel comes up I keep getting a Runtime error from windows and icloud photos is not enabled when I try to view on Windows Explorer.
Any help to solve this problem?
    Helen

Photo stream can be problematic on a PC.  There's a long discussion on this here: My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0.  I ran into this problem myself and was able to get it working again by changing the iCloud Photo location back to /Pictures/Photo Stream as posted by RobBar on page 13 of this discussion.

  • Icloud photo sync

I have the following apple products: IPhone 6 and Ipad Air
I have a large collection of  pictures on my PC which I would like to transfer to Icloud
I have downloaded the icloud software to my pc which it has created a  folder called My Photo Stream this is currently showing 251 pictures all of which are my pictures but don't appear on either of my apple devices. But just populated when I downloaded the software.
I have 1236 photos showing on the IPhone
I have 1209 photos showing on the Ipad
How do I get all of these to sync so everything matches and then how do I transfer the remaining photos from my PC to icloud

When you have iCloud photo library enabled on a device, you can't see photo stream, even though any new photos you take on that device will be added to photo stream.
Your two mobile devices however should show the same photos on each. Do any of them still say they are uploading or updating.

  • Icloud photo syncing

Have been uploading and syncing photos from iphone to PC with no problems. Turned off photo sync while traveling outside U.S. to save data usage and then turned back on when I returned (via PC software) and ever since then have not been able to upload or sync any photos from iphone to PC.
Have been through my settings on iphone and PC multiple times and not seeing anything that would keep my photos from starting to sync again.

Erik, I believe I have same problem. And, now I am using iCloud and all my photos are duplicated on my iPhone4. My iPhone4 photos are not syncing back to my PC. Did you get any help?

  • ICloud Photo Library stopped syncing?

I recently updated my Macbook to the new version of Yosemite with the new photos software, however it's not letting me import more photos due to the fact it's still syncing.
When i looked, it said I have 15,310 photos to be synced! Which I don't have that many photo's at all!
So I decided to use the 'Pause of one day' option and then it tells me this
How do I fix this? it's been stuck on 5,000 images for hours
    Thanks.

  • How to recover photos in iCloud/Photos on MacBook after my iPhone5 was stolen?

Hi, my iPhone 5 was stolen and I'm wondering if/how to best recover the photos from the device? I was able to pull up the photos in my iPad photo stream after the theft, but the photos then went blank, as if they disappeared or were being erased. I've since installed Yosemite on my MacBook and have only been able to recover photos that were physically backed up through an iTunes sync. I previously only had the 5GB iCloud storage, but have since upgraded to a larger storage account.
Is there any other information I can provide to help anyone help me sort this out?
    Thank you!

If all of the fixes that Larry suggested fail give this a try:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
    Happy Holidays

So what I have on my system are the ringtones that I have purchased (6) of them. However if I look and the music I have purchased in the past 6 months none of those song any longer show that there have ringtones associated with them. Before 7.5 update it show well over 100 ringtones available in my purchased music history.

  • Why isn't my iCloud photos synced in my Apple TV?

New photos appear on my iPhone and iPad photo streams but on my Apple TV no.

Did you enable it on ATV?

  • Photo sync trying to optimize my whole collection? why?

I choose 'Select Folders' and picked 4 to 5 folders maybe about 500 pictures total.
When it syncs it says its optimizing 1 of 12196 (which is going to take some time).
What is it doing as I did not choose the whole library? Plus even after it completes there is nothing there but Camera Roll.
Tried a reboot makes no difference.

  • ICloud Photo not syncing + High CPU process (Win 8.1 pro)

This is a new persistent issue with my iCloud and I can't figure out how to fix it permanently because I was able to fix it few days ago, but issues return back a day later! So here's the full story...
I just received a new (AWESOME!!) Surface Pro 3 i5 256 GB tablet with Windows 8.1 professional. I installed iCloud on it as well as iTunes and Quicktime (the basics isn't it?). When setting up my iCloud account first, everything sync up correctly but after a few days (3-4 days), I notice than my Surface tablet are becoming pretty hot and making some fan noise (common Surface issue) when I didn't use it really. So I checked for a high-CPU process and I noticed than "iCloud Photo Stream Downloader" are stuck at 30-35% CPU for an hours ago. Moreover at this point I realized than my photos are not syncing for a few days. I fix the high-CPU process by rebooting, but my photo are still not syncing at all and after a few minutes after reboot, the "downloader" process stuck back to 30-35% and still not syncing!
So I first try some of the workaround found on the internet like sign out iCloud app, then kill all iCloud related process and delete folder %appdata%/Apple/Mediastream and reboot and sign in... same thing... after a few minutes, high-CPU usage + not syncing! I try to "repair" iCloud installation... same thing (high CPU + not syncing)... I uninstalled iCloud + reinstalled... same thing!
I finally fix the situation by uninstalling ALL Apple related software (iTunes, iCloud, Quicktime, Apple Soft Upd, Apple Mobile Sup, Apple App Sup, Bonjour, etc) and thereafter deleting all "Apple_xxxx" folders in %appdata% and also remove all registry keys from the Windows Registry related to Apple. Reboot then reinstall iTunes first and then run "Apple Soft Upd" to install automatically iCloud + Quicktime... then reboot, sign in and then the photo finally sync this time and no high-CPU process!
But a days later... High CPU + Fan noise on the tablet... so checked and the god **** "iCloud Photo Downloader" are again stuck at 30-35% and no more photo sync (I saw the old photos, but not the last day's photo are not sync).
Anybody experience this situation and know how to fix it PERMANENTLY? I checked at my Apple iCloud LOGS and the only thing I saw that can be suspicious is the last line of the log who's :
    [2472 @ Tue Nov 11 19:45:09 2014] [YSLog ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe] defaults key ShouldLog in domain ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe is (null)
    Please help!!

In fact I discovered later I have this issue on all my Windows computers... both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, both MACs (BootCamp) or true PC computers. Except only the Surface Pro 3 tablet seem to have the HIGH-CPU process issue, but all my other Windows PCs stopped syncing too after a few weeks or so.
I just build a BRAND NEW HP Pro Desktop computer running Windows 8.1 Professional and a few days later iCloud Photo stopped syncing too... this is the straw that broke the camel's back! This PC is brand new and no other software are installed except iCloud, iTunes, QuickTime and Microsoft Office 2013 (Office 365). PC is brand new (1 week old) and iCloud Photos sync is already broken!
I also have a few Windows 7 PCs at home (HTPCs on TVs) where iCloud Control Panel is installed and after looking at them, they stopped syncing too for a while (many months ago) but I didn't noticed it yet because I don't check photos often on them.
For now I just give up and disabled the iCloud Photo Sync completely on all my Windows PCs. It only sync between my two iPads, my two iPhones and my two Macs computer (MBPr + iMac 27") and that's it... that's sad, but I'm tired loosing my time with that crappy software!
PLEASE APPLE!! MAKE ICLOUD FOR WINDOWS BETTER!!
