Icloud previous backup

Hi everybody,
I have erased by mistake my contacts and pictures from my Mac... and everything was saved during the night on icloud
I wanted to restore my data from a previous backup, but I can't find how ??
Thanks

Not from iCloud, because it's just one updated backup.
I would also backup with your computer next time it's more reliable.

How can I restore a previous backup in iCloud storage for my iPad?

Restoring an iCloud backup requires you to first erase your iPad.  If you have any newer data that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the iPad and when given the option, choose Restore from iPad backup.

  • I got a replacement ipad. how do I restore it from a previous backup on icloud?

I am trying to restore a previous backup on icloud from a previous ipad2 (that got dropped and shattered). How do I do this? It is not letting me select the backup to restore. I had to upgrade the iOS from 6.0 to 6.1.3. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure you have a backup in icloud? It wont let you select one until after the restore has been started.
Once you go though the setup process during the restore, it will prompt you for your apple id, it has to be the same one that's assciated with the icloud backup.

the irony of this is that the lost audio books is Steve Jobs biography!
Starting to wonder about the benefits of Android :-/

If you haven't been keeping a backup of your downloads (none of your iTunes downloads are included in an iCloud backup, apps, music etc are only redownloadable whilst they remain in your country's store) then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a redownload : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

    Hi Shero89,
Thanks for the answer.  I am not new to IOS software but I don't really ever bother with it, have discovered how little I take advantage of the i-phones capability, in reality I still only really use it to phone, text, check emails, listen to music and look on internet.  I'm not keen on jailbreaking it as I don't trust it to work so normally just update and leave it at that.  Only reason I wanted to downgrade was because the update had stopped my bluetooth working but Kilted Tim solved that problem for me so am now not interested in downgrading software.  I quite liked the things that IOS 5.1 gave me but wasn't happy with fact that bluetooth stopped working in car as it caused me problems.  One day I might try and work out exactly what I-phones can do but on the basis that it's a phone all I really want it to do is phone, if that bit works I'm happy.

  • How does iCloud manage app data like whatsapp ? Does it overwrite the data everytime I backup to I cloud with the data on the phone or it merges the data from previous backups with the new data?

You need to subscribe to iTunes Match to store your music on iCloud:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
To transfer iTunes Store purchases made on your phone to your computer, connect your phone then choose "Transfer purchases..." from the File menu in iTunes.
Photostream transfers photos taken on your iOS devices to other devices and your computer. For troubleshooting Photostream see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989

  • My iphone deleted my contacts, so I restored my phone to a previous backup so now everything is screwed up.

My iphone has deleted my contacts, as usual, but I thought it was no big deal, because one time, I restored my phone no problem. The second time my phone deleted my contacts, they magically reappeared out of thin air, so no problem their. Then my phone deleted them a third time, so I waited a little bit, contacts didn't reappear, so then I restored a previous backup that I knew had all my contacts, songs, notes, and apps. When lever I did this, it gave me the choice to backup by either iCloud or iTunes, so I chose iCloud. About a half hour later my phone was done "backing up." So I did the usual "new" phone questions about wifi, language, or whatever, then about an hour later I noticed that my apps have not downloaded whatsoever, and half my songs are missing and almost all my pictures are missing. That all happened Monday, so now it is Wednesday and nothing has changed, and now my friggin iTunes won't open on my friggin computer! I have read forum after forum on how to fix my phone, then my iTunes won't open. So just tell me, why won't anything work?

Reset my homescreen settings and got it to work. Thanks

  • How do I restore my iPad to a previous backup made on another computer (Mac)?

How do I restore my iPad to a previous backup made on another computer (a Mac)?
I made copies of the backup in the /mobilesync folder and put them on a hard drive. Now I'm in an endless cycle of restoring/syncing which keeps erasing data off of my iPad on the new computer (which is just a hard drive reformat...it's the same computer, technically, but in theory brand new after a hard drive formatting).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Normally backups are incremental, and you can only restore the latest. EXCEPT that a backup of an earlier version is archived, and the first backup of the new version is thus complete. You should be able to restore a 6.1.4 backup to iOS 7. Click the Restore Backup button. The dialog that comes up should have a dropdown where you can select a backup to restore. If the old one does not show up it cannot be restored.
However, since you appear to have a Mac, if you use Time Machine you can restore an earlier backup over the current one from your Time Machine history.
You can also back up to iCloud, even if you don't sync to it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5262
One well hidden feature (for future use) is archiving backups. If you go to iTunes Preferences/Devices, right click on the current backup and choose "Archive". The next backup you make will be a competely new one, and the old one will be preserved and can be restored at any time.

  • How to restore a previous backup?

I backup my iPhone 4sregularly.  I recently needed to reset it back to factory settings.  However, the only restore options I had in iTunes were two backups from just minutes before I did the reset.  How do I find other restore selections?

They don't exist. Backups are incremental; that is, a new backup is created by just saving changes from the previous backup. If you have an iCloud backup it saves the 3 most recent. But on your computer it saves only the most recent and the most recent of the previous iOS version.
For the future, if you have a Mac, you can force a new backup by going to iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. Right click on a back and choose "Archive" from the floating menu. The next backup will be from scratch. You can also restore a previous backup from Time Machine.
You can sort of do this with Windows if you regularly back up your user data.

  • HT4859 how do I restore to a previous backup?

How do I restore to a previous backup?

Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial device setup process.  If you have any newer data on your phone now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  When you're done, go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  Then go through the setup screens on your phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure it is connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • When I try to open a previous backup on time machine, I can't?

The other day, I was viewing backups from 2 years ago and in time machine looking at the timeline, Now, I try to do the same and open a backup and it only lists today. All the previous backups are there but they're dimmed and there's no dates listed next to them, I can't open them. How do I open them? All my settings are fine, I didn't edit anything in the time machine setings. Thanks,

Thanks very much for the instructions.  I encountered this problem this morning myself and the recommendation fixed the problem immediately.  When things like this happen with iCloud and Pages it makes me wonder if I might be better off using something else, having just recently had to fix the problem that the current Pages can't read documents I created with a much earlier version until they were "upgraded" by an interim version.
