ICloud problems after installing Maverick

I installed OS X last night and ever since I haven't been able to log on to iCloud through system preferences.  When I first when to iCloud through SP I noticed it was using my old Apple ID so I logged out and tried to sign again, that's when the problem started.  Please help!
Exact message is "you can't sign in at this time.  Try signing in again"

Exactly the same problem and more!!!!!
...and this is after the Mail and ibooks update.
(1)
>Mail >Preferences >Accounts > >"iCloud" button >Continue >Enter Apple ID and Password >Sign In AND
I'm bounced back to
>Mail >Preferences >Accounts where nothing has changed.
OR
(2)
>Mail >Accounts >"ICloud" >Enter Apple ID and Password >Sign In AND
I get "Already signed is as myname.me.com and This iClound account already exits."
>OK  AND I'm back to
>Mail >Accounts where nothing has changed.
(3) When the icloud account is showing as being inactive I click on the iclound account and it opens the box that is supposed to show what the account uses: Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Messages, and other apps.
All it shows is my Apple ID and my Apple ID and mail address, but nothing else.
(4)
So, I delete
>Mail >Accounts >"icloud" interent account then the
> to add a new internet account.
I click on "iCloud" and enter my "name.me.com" and Password then
>Sign in" and I get
"You can't sign in at this time.  Try signing in again."
When I try to sign in again I get the same message.
(5)
My Contacts were not syncing with iCloud or showing any files stored on icloud.
BUT, I fixed this by deleting all the files in
>"User" >Library >Application Support >Addressbook...
and then copied over the Time Machine backup files from the same folder (from before the Mavericks download).
This worked to sync with iCloud and get back my contacts stored on iCloud.
(6)
My Calendar is also not syncing with iCloud or showing information stored on iCloud.
I tried (5) above as for Contacts, but Calendar files in
>"User" >Library >Calendars...
No luck here.

  • Serious external drive problems after installing Mavericks

OK, so now I am seeing multiple external drive problems. Here is my setup: A GTech 4TB drive connected to MacBook Pro via Firewire, formatted of 2 partitions of 2TB each (called GT1 and GT2). This is then daisy chained to two WD drives of 2TB each, called WD1 and WD2.
After installing Mavericks everything worked fine (in fact I have an amazing speed increase). However, after restarting my machine this morning I have the following issues:
The GTech is now a single partition called MyBook (obviously a hangover from the WD drives. I suspect the WD drive managment software) with NO data files. Interestingly it shows the following USED 1,106,870,272 bytes (1.11 GB on disk). This suggests that one of the partitions has disapeared completely.
Whilst WD 1 launces ok, WD 2 causes the Finder to relaunch whenever selected, meaning I can't get to the files. I remember having this problem before when I upgraded to SL, and it having something to do with hidden files that needed to be deleted via the terminal. However, I have searched the web and can't find the solution again.
Given that WD 1 and 2 are my backups of GT 1 and 2, then I now have a situation where I cannot access my primary or backup files for GT 2. Very impressive - not!
Can anbody remember the hidden file solution for the finder relaunch?
Can anybody help me get back my GT1 and 2 partitions (as they have the latest work on them)?

FIrewire & Thunder bolt drives are having issues with Mavericks, avoid same until a fix is issued if you can.
many are reporting same, there is a firewire fault and TB HD on external HD from LaCie (Seagate) and from WD especially.
    Technicians are looking into it.
Until there is resolution, consider setting up a USB ext. Time machine HD.
Until then consider confining Mavericks use with USB HD.
Ive tested a very long line of USB HD on Mavericks, all seem fine.
Recommend anyone DO NOT ATTACH any WD MyBook externals (firewire, thunderbolt or otherwise).
I dont have same to test, so I dont know if the problem is in the firmware on the SATA bridge or if its a problem with the WD software

  • External microphone problems after installing mavericks

I cannot seem to get my mac air to detect my external usb mic after installing mavericks. anyone else having this issue? guidance?

    Hi,
I am having this issue too. I'm using a Samson C01U, which I've had for years and working fine, now gets this when plugged in:
This is on a MBP (1 year old) running 10.9.2.

  • Mavericks - Word for Mac, saving docs problem after installing Mavericks

I have Word for Mac. Since installing Mavericks, when I download a document, I am unable to 'save as'  to anywhere but downloads folder. When I select the folder I want save the doc to, 'save' greys out. Help!

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • How do i pause quick time recording ? having problem after installing maverick

i have been having issue with quick time recording . after installing this Maverick i and no longer able to pause the Recording.
nothing happens when i press the option key.
done any one know the fix
    Thanks

    Ski Farm,
I hope you are doing well today! The suggestion provided by altenbach is really good. Alternatively, you can also use a global variable and an event or case structure, to pause the execution of a VI. I have attached an example of a subVI, called by the mainVI, which displays the current iterative count of a while loop. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

  • Pages problems after installing Mavericks OS

After in upgrading to Mavericks OS, I am having issues with Pages application. I  can successfully insert a hyperlink in a document, however when I insert a url that includes a pdf it occasionally will not take or accept it. Two urls can be almost identical but for some reason one consistently is rejected.  Has anyone had a similar issue, or know how to resolve?   I thought that maybe the conflict  is the inclusion of the character "®" in the URL, but both urls include it.
For example, this link can be inserted successfully:
    http://www.heatsavershades.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Weather_HeatSaver%C2%A E_Testing_Data_02_06_to_02_20_14.pdf
    This does not:
    http://www.heatsavershades.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Weather_HeatSaver%C2%A E_Testing_Data_03_09_to_03_22_14.pdf
I did notice that "HeatSaver®" became "HeatSaver%C2%AE"  when I pasted the urls above, but the first one works nevertheless, and you can see it is almost identical except for sequence of dates at ends of urls.
    Anyone have a clue?
    Thank you!

Use Tinyurl for messed up URLs.  Odd characters like these can also mess up e-mail programs.     http://www.tinyurl.com/
I suggest the author of the said website stick to known URL conventions, and doesn't use special characters in their file naming.

Hi everyone, i upgraded to Maverick yesterday and i now have a problem with the software "Preview 7.0". I've got a macbook pro 13" retina.

  • After installing Mavericks, App Store/Numbers/Pages don't load

    After installing the upgrade the Mavericks, some apps wont open including;
App Store, Numbers, Pages, iBooks, Maps, Keynote
    Error code in Console reads;
Unable to load nib file: Mainmenu, exiting
as well as exited with code : 1
Can anyone help or is it a trip to the store?
    I'm on a Macbook Pro early 2011
    Thanks,

    All
I found the solution myself without having to go to the store.
    Restarted Mac
During startup, hold down Command and R keys when grey screen appears
    Popup appears
    Select Reinstall OS X
    Reinstalls Mavericks
Some Apps still dont work - Numbers, Keynote, Pages
Simply moved Apps to trash, emptied trash and rebooted Mac
Went to App Store - now working after reinstalling Mavericks - and went to Purchases and installed/updated Apps
    All now working fine......
    Hope this helps anyone else.
PS....DO NOT RUN TUNEUPMYMAC APP - I think that this may have added to the problem after installing Mavericks the first time, but can't be sure.

  • Has anyone experienced problems with Outlook after installing Mavericks?

Has anyone else experienced problems using Microsoft Outlook after installing Mavericks?  The computer seems to want to continue reloading emails.

    RobertRTillman wrote:
    1. Apple has removed sync services in OS X Mavericks. Therefore, you cannot sync Outlook 2011 with Contacts or Calendar.
    2. Apple has removed the ability to sync through iTunes in OS X Mavericks, so that, even if you use Contacts and Calendar on the Mac, you can only sync them with your iPhone through iCloud, thus exposing all your contacts and calendar information to the mercies of the Web.
    3. Microsoft does not not support CalDAV and CardDAV in Outlook, so there is no way to sync directly through iCloud, except perhaps by setting up a Microsoft Exchange account.
    4. Apple makes it extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to revert to a version of OSX that is earlier than OS X Mavericks once Mavericks is installed.
In short, we are screwed and neither company seems to care.
In fact Microsoft does support Cal and CardDav in Outlook, just not in the Mac version of Outlook.
Reverting back from Mavericks requires nothing more than a backup of the system to restore from, if you do not elect to make backups that is a choice, but I would venture that it is a bad choice.

  • If you have problems with Apple Apps after installing Mavericks

I had a problem with Apple Apps after installing Mavericks. They would bounce in the dock but never open.  The problem apps I had trouble with were CALENDAR, MAIL, and even APP STORE.   I am guessing it has to do with permissions when setting up via iCloud.  Here's what I did to make my apps work again after the update:
Restart computer, then immediately hold down OPTION so you can start from the 10.9 RECOVERY DISK.
Run DISK UTILITY, then run REPAIR DISK, then run REPAIR DISK PERMISIONS.
After this, RESTART, then hold COMMAND OPTION P R at the same time until your computer restarts three times.
After it boots up, the apps began working like they should have.

That's where your questions about Lion should be posted.

    Hi,
What version of the OS did you upgrade from ?
Anything before OS X 10.8.2 may have an issue if the Logic/Mother board has been replaced and the Serial Number not "flashed" back to it.
In the Apple Icon menu use the About this Mac item.
In the new panel click twice on the line that tells you the current OS level
It will change to the Build number (and alternative count to the OS versions) and then the Serial Number.
If it is missing you need to get it replaced.
(It is supposed to be done on Repair or Refurbishment).
An Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider as the best choices.
There are apps you can download (They are Mac Model specific) but needs careful typing as it is a once only trip.

  • Problem with Word after installing Maverick

After installing Maverick word for Mac is not able to be open. Excell & PowerPoint  works without problems. According to local Apple store it's a common problem and I should wait for an update from Microsoft. Does anyonwe faced the same issue ?

You'd have the same version of Word since the MS updates update all MS Office apps.
The only thing that I can suggest is to take your question to the MS Office 2011 Mac forums -> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac.
That's where I'm headed to complain about my font problems!

  • After installing maverick my computer is very slow

after installing maverick my computer is very slow, what can I do?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
    Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
    Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • After installing Mavericks my Email always requests my password?

After installing Mavericks my Email program won't save the passwords for the iCloud-Accounts anymore. So everytime I start my Mail program I am asked for the password. If I go to settings and fill out the password manually it won't save it even after I clicked on "save". But when I return to the settings and it isn't. What now? With every other email account it works fine, remembers the password and everything but not with the iCloud accounts. And it is kind of odd to always type in my password as I thought with keychain it gets better. with Mountain Lion everything was fine...
And: Very often they don't synchronize on my MBP and iMac! Even worse: more often the Mail program simply freezes and won't work anymore just out of the blue. So I have to force it to quit and restart it again. Who else has these problems? Both of my Macs are fully compatible with Mavericks by the way. The iMac is from Nov 2009 and the MBP November 2011. so none of them should have any problems
I am happy for every suggestions or hints!

Sometimes I should better browse this forum BEFORE asking a question
Sorry for that but I finally found the easiest solution somewhere in here:
Went to Settings in the mail program --> add password --> changed the Authentification to "Apple Token".
Now it works perfectly fine and I don't need to type in my password all the time I open Mail
