ICloud registration frustration ...

Trying to create a new iCloud account for/with my daughter and her iPod Touch.
When I try to create a new account I get a message telling me an account already exists for that email.
So I request the Forgot Password email to be sent. The site confirms that the message has been sent. But of course the email never arrives, even in the spam folder.
Then I choose the "Find your Apple ID" link and supply the same email address. I get this message from the iCloud site: "No Apple ID found. We can't find an Apple ID matching the information you provided."
About to lose it. I've been through this loop about 5 times over three days.
What am I missing?  ;-)
Thanks!
Chris

Looking at my MobilleMe account online, I have a gmail account set up as it says "An alternate email address is used to help retrieve forgotten passwords and for other important information".
I guess if someone else has already grabbed that account, the password reset email is going to their alternative email address.

Well I am feeling a bit silly now because that was all I had to do. In the past Workgroup Manager had always opened right up to the list of my users, I never even thought to click on that but apparently that was all that was needed.
I still am not sure how the iChat Server preferences changed themselves on me, but it is not the first time I have had weird "settings" issues with our Snow Leopard Server.
    Thanks!

  • Mountain Lion and iCloud registration after every login!?!

My Macbook Pro has 4 user accounts. All of them have administration rights. I upgraded to Mountain Lion some days ago with my user account. At one user account always the iCloud login appears. If I skip the registration, it appears again at the next login. I tried to register this account with a new id. The registration was successful, but at the next login the iCloud login appeared again. There is no problem with my user account and the two others. Just at the fourth user account I have the problem with the iCloud login/registration.
Do you have any idea, how I can avoid the iCloud registration?
Shall I indicate there my own apple-ID?
Or is that a bad idea, because then my id is stored at another user account?
    Thank you very much, Beno

Hmmm, so no Energy saver settings to Sleep/shutdown?
Only happens in Movie playing, or does it happen with no Mouse/KB activity in 15-20 minutes?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Lost iCal entries following iCloud registration

I installed Lion on my iMac and on the next day registered for iCloud.  Immediately all data in iCal disappeared.  Calendar was empty in iCloud also.  Have tried to recover data through Time Machine, but unsuccessful.

iCloud is turned on.  To expand; when I registered to iCloud and went to iCal on my Mac all the entries, except for birthdays and holidays, disappeared.  Also missing were the the eight of so "calendars" that I had, there only being the generic empty Calendar and Home calendars of a totally new iCal.
I am connected to iCloud and it is working; when I make an entry on my Mac it shows up in iCloud.
My question is how and why did this happen and is there any way of recovering all my entries and calendars?

  • Issues with iCloud registration

Hi I'm having an issue with Icloud on my mac and iphone. I have tried setting it up more than once, but I never seem to receive the confirmation email. It doesn't go to my spam account, my email is accurate and apple is not blocked. Anyone else having this issue?

Fromsouth, I think you have misinterpret what i'm trying to say.
First of all, thanks for your help and advice.
I know that I can  used my old ID in the settings for purchases, however I am using icloud.com for all of my mails, calendar etc. however I do not want to change my email address as I have changed it once from Hotmail.
You mentioned that it is stupid just to have an icloud.com address. If Microsft and Google can do it, i'm sure apple can. If I forget my Microsoft password I get them to send the reset password to my phone or I used my computer or any other authorised device to reset my password.
Don't get me wrong as I am a big fan of apple, all i'm missing from the apple range is a Mac. I truly do love the apple approach and I love my iGadgets. However, I would love to have the option of just having an apple account as I do not want or need a microsft or Google account. In fact, i'm happy to pay the premium to have extra iCloud storage....
And you are right, iCloud is an excellent service, one that I have come to rely on.

  • Icloud registration problems

I have recently brought a 4s and an ipad and i am trying to set up icloud. the problems come when i go to set it up. both the ipad and phone tell me that icloud requires an apple id that is an e mail address. therefore i have been to manage my apple id's on the laptop. however it will not let me use my email address as it says it is already in use, however i only have this e mail address as my primary e mail address on the apple account. Sadly i have had the same apple id and the same e mail address as the primary e mail from 2004. i just want to get it so that in the future i can use my phone and pad to its full potential which icloud will allow but i have hit a brick wall when it comes to this issue. Any help would be great

    ok
I logged into icloud and mistakenly unchecked the key chain box. Then tried to recheck it ended up with enter your apple password, then your security code and then the third one is a verification code sent to your phone number and thats the problem - have no idea what that code is or how to retrive it.

  • Icloud registration in Ipad mini

I recently purchased an Ipad mini and have solved all the issues with signing in, Itunes match, but I am not able to sign into Icloud on the mini I always receive the message veryfication timed out, my Apple ID and paswword work for vrything else, I have also tried rebooting the mini, signing out of Itunes and signing in again, but noithing helps with signing into Icloud. Any suggestions please would be very welcome.
    Thanks

Start here and make sure you are going through all of the set steps: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/. If you are continuing to have issues, contact Apple support.
I check the system status page and all services are presumably up and running.

  • ICloud registration problem

    Hi Everybody,
I've just upgraded my 3GS to the 4S today so have access to ICloud, but I can't seem to register for it.
Basically, my Itunes details are the user name I have here (Jver10) as my Apple ID and then my password. I tried to log in/register at ICloud.com using my full email address as the username and then my Itunes password and it said it would send an email to my email address but I haven't received this, presumably as it can't find this email address in the system.
Do I have to set up a new Apple ID so I can use the ICloud service and can I link it to my current (non-email addess) Apple ID?
I apologise that this question may have been asked before, but as a newbie to the ICloud service I'm sure you'll understand it is a little confusing to me.
    Thank you,
    James.

If you are the original owner of the phone and know the Apple ID and password that were used to activate it originally, and if you have an existing backup to restore from, you can force it into recovery mode (which will completely erase it) and restore it as explained here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.  When you do you will encounter activation lock, and will have to provide the ID and password used to activate it originally in order to activate it again.  If you can't, you won't be able to activate and use it.

  • IChat Registration With iCloud id

I have just setup my Apple ID using the iCloud.
iCloud requested that I setup my Apple ID with my email address. My email address is not one of .me.com or mac.com.
How do I use my Apple ID to work with iChat?
    Thanks
    George.

    Humm,
That looks like a generic Apple ID page where you can list any email you have as an Apple ID.
I looked again at this page to see if there was a direct link to an iCloud registration page.
I have several older @mac.com names I have created for testing iChat in the past.
I went to the iCloud.com site and put in one of these.
At the moment I get this alert
It seems I would have to go through similar steps again  (A t this point I am hesitating as I am not sure you can run two iCloud Accounts at once).
iCloud issued @me.com names only work in iChat 6.
Alternaively you could register for an @mac.com name here
However you may have difficulty if you only have one email account.  You have to use an second email to sort of "Hard Code" the new @mac.com ID to an email and this cannot be one already linked to an Apple ID.
You can create an AIM ID and use an existing email for Cofirmation and password recovery or in fact type in the existing email and use that as your AIM Screen Name (depending how public you want the email)

  • Recently created a new iCloud account, but want to use my previous iCloud email address (created with a different iCloud account)... help needed!!

    Guys,
I hope you can help me out on this, but I have a problem...
A few years ago I created an iCloud account on my old iPhone 4S.
Back then, I used an email address for iCloud registration that's no longer active.
Anyway, I also made an iCloud email address back then.
    - Now I have a brand new iPhone 5S (totally love it)... and I just created an iCloud acccount with an other email address than I used back at the time I had my old 4S.
But... now I would like to use the same 'old' iCloud email address that I used on my previous 4S iCloud account.
Since that previous iCloud account is linked to an email address that no longer exists, I don't know how to do this!!
    Can someone please help??

Each of you should set up your separate iCloud account on your own computer using your Apple ID. This gives you two independent iCloud accounts.
Note that an iPad is not a multi-user device. It can only be synced with one account.

  • ICloud Server Error: Can't add/edit contacts + it overwrites AddressBook edits

I originally posted this in the MobileMe forum. I am totally frustrated and disgusted with the unreliable and buggy iCloud. I am hoping smarter people than me can help resolve this. Thank you.
My primary data source is/was my MacBook Pro. It was all synced to MobileMe. (Contacts and iCal). iCloud came along. I "upgraded" to iCloud {the frustrating process of "your account needs to be upgraded, create an appleID..." was a whole different pain}.
To make life simple, I even allowed iCloud to be the source of data for my iMac as well as iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S by deleting everything and letting everything be populated from iCloud. Now, supposedly, all my contacts and calendar/reminder data is in iCloud and all the data on the iMac and iPhones if from iCloud.
Except, I cannot make edits to contacts in iCloud or even Add a new contact. When I Add or Save an edit in iCloud, EACH time I get an ERROR and the error report going to Apple is given below.
Worse, I spent an hour cleaning up the freshly downloaded contacts in the iMac's AddressBook. NONE of those changes went up to iCloud.
EVEN worse, iCloud overwrote the changed fields back to the old/blank fields, wasting my hour of work.
Adding cards in AddressBook on the computer also does not propagate to iCloud, though edits to or changes to iCal DO show up in iCloud. But, adds/deletes/edits to Contacts on iMac OR iPhones do NOT show up in iCloud.
    Your help appreciated. Regards,
    Imran

This is from the iMac console when I tried to delete a contact:
11/20/11 6:05:09.289 AM Address Book: Process com.apple.AddressBook deleting 1 contact

The rest of the log is at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3508969 and not repeated here.

I added this comment to a thread about trying to get rid of iCloud once it has been used... it is much harder than you'd imagine... I am sharing it here because it includes steps I took after the problem we are discussing above....
    ====
I love Apple since it started and been a Mac user since it came out. Much that MobileMe was frustrating and had a lousy launch, I thought it was impossible to make something worse than MobileMe. Apple succeeded with this disaster, data destroying, heart burning, stomach churning and hours wasting beast called iCloud.
See iCloud Server Error: Can't add/edit contacts + it overwrites AddressBook edits By IMRAN Happy to have your thoughts on how to solve that nightmare. My last attempt (manually restorying my 5000 contacts in AddressBook, then painfully manually deleting contacts in iCloud {Select All > Delete there gives Server Errors also}. Finally managed. Then resyncing the MacBook Pro to iCloud led to 1000 contacts NOT syncing and no way except manually listing each address list side by side to figure out which ones it missed pulling in. Horror. Disaster. Shame.
For the user who says that turning off iCloud on the Mac and accepting its offer to delete data will delete data only on the cloud, sorry, but, unless I misunderstood you, that is dangerously wrong.
Like an evil spawn of SkyNet and a PC Boot Sector Virus, once iCloud has grabbed your data IT becomes the master of your data, your digital life. Deleting stuff means the stuff on your DEVICE (e.g. MacBook Pro, where you created and have all the ORIGINAL data in that iCloud sucked in) is what will be destroyed. Be careful.
If you're playing with this beast, not only make backups of your data in AddressBook and iCal, but invest in an external drive and clone your whole hard drive.
I am literally having to make a decision tonight, keep my MacBook Pro as the master, and sync via iTunes to the iPhone 4S and 4. I have an iMac mostly for music and video, which it was "cool" to have synced iCal and AB on, though not regularly used. But, after the hours wasted with iCloud, and the repeated data loss, I can live without the iMac being a synced device.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Imran Anwar

  • I am having to reset my icloud password every few days

I have had this recurrent problem over the last 2 - 3 weeks.  Every few days I find that Mail won't log in to my .mac account and tells me to reset my password. When I go to the reset page it tells me my password has been locked 'for security reasons'.  I am on maybe my 5th or 6th new password in around 3 weeks, when I have not had to reset my password for over a decade previously.  This is all obviously a massive pain: I am now having to use passwords I cannot readily remember, because iCloud won't let me re-use old passwords; and I am, of course, also having to change the password on my iPad and my iPhone and re-enter it for various iCloud sync'd services such as Address Book.
Can anyone please explain why this is happening and if there is anything I can do to stop it?
    Thanks.

In my case I have to change the password every week.
The requested reset takes long time when I am on mobile modem with low quality connection (traveling). Have file on Desktop, where type  my new password instead of the old one every reset. Do not think this is secure - but what to do...
The only guess is - Mail is checking the account every several minutes (I have it open when in office) and Apple has some  limit to the number of connections before such request is issued.
I would prefer not to be bothered by this. I was using the same password from the beginning till quite recent time when this reqests started. There were no problems with security and I do not like and do not want to change password so often.
Anyone in here managed to avoid these requests? I am not using LinkedIn. Actually do not remember anything where I  could put my iCloud password even once (especially to put it each week after weekly reset) - except iCloud itself...
Or are there just 5 of us with such problem - something common with the iCloud registration? I have my account since iTools/.Mac. May be they simply want me out?

  • Change iCloud language

Every mail I recive from iCloud (registration new device, find my iPhone notification, etc.) it's in japanese language... I have tried to change language in iCloud from the site icloud.com but there it is correct (italian). What I can do? thx

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, open http://appleid.apple.com, login with your Apple ID and check if you have selected Italian as your default language. If not, choose it.

  • HT5622 I need to change my iCloud email address help?

I need help with iCloud account. Got a new email address need to change In iCloud very frustrated can not figure it out. Help

First, if you haven't done so already, go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and manage your Apple ID to make the necessary changes.  Then, to change the iCloud ID on your iOS devices, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
